The menu hits the comfort-food notes: shrimp tacos, chicken parm, saganaki, spinach-artichoke dip, and a rich tomato bisque have all landed well, and the bar team stays friendly and attentive. The place really wakes up on bingo and karaoke nights, which makes for a fun scene, though it can get loud and the pace slows a touch when the room is packed. Once in a while a side or sauce doesn't wow me, but overall the kitchen's consistent and the vibe is welcoming. Parking can be tight at prime time, so plan ahead. This neighborhood joint is a short hop from Oak Brook Center. A cozy and friendly haven, the attractions here are exceptionally good food at remarkably down-to-earth prices and a calendar populated with entertainment and fun events. It's not a huge place, but on a Saturday evening when you can't squeeze into most Oak Brook restaurants without a reservation or enduring an hour+ wait, there is ample parking in 2 lots, and a few tables were available upon our arrival. The bar offers a goodly variety of craft beers on tap and in bottles featuring Midwest brews. Compared to other neighborhood watering holes, their menu is more extensive and offers more options. Fries come with sandwiches, but for a modest $1 upcharge you can substitute tater tots, onion rings, soup, or salad. I ordered the Santa Fe chicken sandwich. This was one of the tastiest grilled chicken breast sandwiches I've had lately, and the enormous beer-battered onion rings were among the best. Ditto for my Missus' burger and fries. We boxed up some of our meals because we absolutely had to share an order of cronuts (a cross between a croissant and a donut) for dessert. Four pastries were artfully plated around a centerpiece of vanilla ice cream. We didn't expect to find food of this caliber here. The kitchen was backed up and there was a fair wait for our meals, but our server was wonderful. Live entertainment - a talented vocalist with karaoke accompaniment - began around 7:00, so we lingered. Y'know what? We had gone here for years when it was Elmhurst Public House, but we never found our way back when it became Manny's. We are so glad we "re-discovered" it! Both my husband and I had burgers, which were cooked just perfectly, and, to their credit, not so huge I couldn't even hold it. A nice, normal portion for a great price. Was at Manny's yesterday at lunch. They had workers there replacing the bar top and kick plates underneath, DURING THE DAY business hours. Ridiculous!!! Dust all over, chemical smells. Trying to serve customers food while this is going on is disgusting. The owners are oblivious to ACTUAL good customer service. The poor bartender trying to maneuver around the workers was outrageous. My family and I visited this hidden jewel a few days ago and what a surprise! Our server was friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. The beer selection was adequate. I ordered the Rubin with tots for lunch and, I must say, it was one of the top 3 best Rubin sandwiches I have ever had. My wife ordered a French Dip and she said it was perfect. Hooray for Manny's Ale House! We were in a bind last night and found Manny's on Yelp as a late night option. We came in praying and hoping their kitchen would actually be open and, praise be to food gods, they were! They said they serve food until 10:30, if that's important information for you (Wednesday night). We came in, ordered some beers, and perused the menu. The place was very clean, had some locals drinking at the bar, and our waitress was super kind. She didn't bat an eye when we asked to order food at 9:30 pm. After our beers, we placed an order of spinach artichoke dip, a veggie burger, and a pulled pork sandwich. Everyone was pleased with their meal. I personally love french fries and I will say they had some good fries! Their spinach artichoke dip is reallly full of spinach, which was good for me, but I wouldn't order it if you're expecting more of a cheesy and artichoke filled version of the dip. All in all, we had a nice and uneventful night of dining which was what we were looking for! We will definitely be back! read more

I've lived in the area for over 20 years and have driven past this place countless times but it wasn't until this past year that I finally popped in here for a few beers and a bite to eat. Honestly I have to say, it was a pleasant surprise. I say that because not only was it my first time visiting about a year ago but I've returned 3 times since, each time being equally satisfied. Twice I've had their pub burger that comes with bacon, cheese and a fried egg. It's served on what appears to be a potato bun but it's these seasoned swirly-curl wedge fries that are served with it on the side that absolutely bring the meal full-circle. On one of my visits I came in the afternoon with my family and on that day I had ordered their Saganaki. It was absolutely fantastic! And to make it better...I guess I came during their Happy Hour so the Saganaki was half-price from what it normally costs which was a huge bonus for me lol so I got it for just a few bucks. So needless to say, if you're passing thru town this establishment is worth your while especially if you're looking for a decent burger. read more

Solid 3 star bar with food. Decent beer selection, nothing extensive...but a good variety. Food was also pretty good. Had the drunken burger (bacon, blue cheese and saute'd onions) with fries. Fries were some strange shaped fry/chip combo and were very good, lightly battered...like a cross between a chip and a waffle fry. Burger was so-so, the patty seemed like it could use some seasoning...but not bad. Good price to value ratio on food and beer and the bartender was very friendly and attentive. Overall decent place...I'm hesitant to call it a dive bar because it was pretty clean and well kept, but it kind of had that older neighborhood bar vibe and it's a sizable place so it was a little odd. Oh, my what can I say? Manny made me feel welcome the first day we met. They have great food and a clean environment. The bartenders and waitresses are very kind and knowledgeable. They just are all a part of a team. I've been there for SplitPea soup on Thursdays and Cream of Chicken on Sundays. I have attended football games where there are contests and cool prizes. I've been there for Elvis and Karaoke night. I've been there for free hotdogs and wings during half time. I even had a birthday party for my son and great nephew. Mannys is very community friendly. They host dine and donate for various events. They even allowed me to give them pink and purple ribbons for October DomesticViolence and BreastCancer Awareness Month. Update: service is still consistently inattentive. Removing a star accordingly. Even sitting at the bar, we could not catch a server's attention for our lives... however the gyros might keep us coming back. Ugh. I generally liked this place. I took off a star because the two times we went there was no one to seat us (for five minutes the first time) and no indication of a "seat yourself" sign anywhere. Not one of the servers could be bothered to notice us and tell us to grab a seat anywhere till we approached the full bar to ask. Decent prices, good specials menu that is different for each day of the week. Clam chowder was FIRE. Actually, everything I had was good: hummus plate, Caesar salad, buffalo chicken wrap. Though my gf had the grilled chicken wrap and the chicken was chewy. I can't recommend that. But the place was clean, has a nice sporty vibe, and is generally pretty busy but not overwhelming crowds. We decided to try this place out after driving past it many times. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and our meals were brought out right after our waitress brought the appetizer which we thought was strange. Why would you bring main entrees out when we just received the appetizer? My husband and I ordered the pizza and it was probably the worst pizza we've ever had in our life. Aldis frozen pizza is better. The crust tasted like cardboard and it was undercooked. The nachos we had for the appetizer were terrible, they put shredded cheese and the gross liquid nacho cheese. My daughter ordered her burger well done and when she go it, it was pink and nowhere near well done. My son got the chicken and waffles and the waffles were frozen waffles. We had an awesome time at Manny's! With Manny himself too! Love that! I was dining with "regulars" of the joint and I can certainly see why. It's a very friendly, chill & welcoming atmosphere. Three groups of complete strangers ended the night doing shots of Fireball, laughing and staying up and out way too late for a work night. Really good times! The place is great for game watching and it certainly shows its support for local teams. Grabbing a seat at the bar or in the main room wasn't an issue on a weekday night for late dinner. There's also a larger back room separated by a pretty fish tank that's a tad more quiet if that's more your speed. The menu is definitely a tad more upscale than typical bar food! Poutine and Sagnaki (Greek flaming cheese dish!) are appetizer highlights. Burgers, sammies, kid's meals under $6 and there are over a half a dozen daily specials too! Fellow veg heads, it's down to a salad minus some ingredients or veggie wrap or veggie burger for us. I opted for the latter and it was pretty tasty! Substantial and held together well enough to eat sans bun which for me is a plus and it allowed me to indulge in the delicious funky shaped fries without too much guilt. Try these! Yum! The drink menu is fairly extensive with almost a dozen fun martinis and the draft and crafts beer list is pretty good also. Go for a local if you're not one. I wasn't disappointed watching the Blackhawks with a Great Lake Elliot Ness brew on draft. They apparently have karaoke and live music on Saturdays.
