Came to Fitz's for a special event that was being held there. So the food provided was not standard off the menu. But the food provided was quite good. Nothing fancy, just bar food, but at least a bit unique. The bar has a nice variety of beers, and of course any other drink you might be interested in. The bar was packed that night, so the staff was working hard, but in general they did a great job and were super nice. If you're looking for a place to watch that sportsball game, have a bite and a drink or two, this is a good spot. Nothing crazy or outstanding, but a solid place to hang. read more

Everyone needs a corner bar Irish pub! They have plenty of tables and great staff. It's your typical Irish pub but they have a great menu with tons of options. Food - meh Bloody Mary - no flavor and not worth $9.00 for pickles, olives and a small piece of celery. A green beer in a plastic cup - $5.00 Waitress - not very friendly - until she presented the check and then she lightened up just a bit. Must of been the last ditch effort for her tip. Wow I'm impressed! Last time I came to Fitzs Pub in Elmhurst for a fish fry I was less than impressed. I have completely changed my opinion. Last time it was obnoxiously loud and the beer batter fish was puffy and unappealing. Tonight somehow they were able to tone down the din while they turned out a fabulous fry. The beer batter was perfectly done, golden brown and delicious. My fingers were a bit greasy but, hey it's a fish fry and you eat with your hands. Zack the bartender was attentive and great. Also had the clam chowder v. fries and it was extra good, creamy with lotsa clams. I'll be back. read more

Fitz's is a nice, chill neighborhood Irish pub.  This little section of Elmhurst (which I don't know well) also looks attractive for foodies and the surrounding area is calm and inviting and with easy free street parking.  My old colleague and I had a long overdue face-to-face catchup session (thanks to Covid) on a relatively quiet Monday evening, and this place worked out well for us.  I would say if it got crowded (and it started getting there at one point), it can get overly boisterous here as you might expect of a popular Irish pub.  The draft beer selection and food is decent.  My colleague had their Monday special - a broasted chicken dinner for $9.50 and he enjoyed it.  I went with my reliable pub burger-beer dinner combo and I had their Fitz burger with tator tots for $11.95.  This 1/2 pound burger, which I had done medium, had a thin layer of corned beef, swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing and I really liked it as well as the generous side of tator tots.  I also had the following draft pints, each a very reasonable $6: - Boddingtons Pub Ale (4.7% ABV) - Guinness Draught Stout (4.2% ABV) - Surly Furious IPA (6.7% ABV) Note that their printed menu might be out-of-date as it showed the Fitz burger at $10.95, but I also knew from online perusal that it showed as $11.95 which is what I was eventually charged.  So it was no surprise and no biggie either, but just a heads-up and the menu also does say prices are subject to change without notice.  Our server Sophie was friendly and attentive and actually on her first shift at the pub, and she did a great job for us.  I'll go with 4 stars, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.  There were 16 drafts on tap, and if they had a more extensive and diverse beer selection (and this is not a complaint), I might then consider a 5 star rating for Fitz's.  Otherwise, nice pub, and thanks for making it a delightful pub outing for us! read more

Made an order to go for lunch. We had a couple of burgers. Thin cheeseburger and fries was fresh and tasty and cooked well to order, as was my 1/2lb cheeseburger with fries cooked Medium rare. Price was fair and portion was good. Everything was packaged well and order was prepared promptly on time. We will go back and dine in next time. read more

If I could leave zero I would. Went with my girlfriend and we were looking forward to it because we always drive past it. We get there and they tell us choose a table and someone will be there with us. It was a Saturday night and not busy at all. Anyway 5 minutes go by, and nothing. Waitresses kept on walking by our table and none even bothered to check on us. I still gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited 15 minutes. Finally we decided to get up and leave. My 2 friends and I took another chance at this place Saturday after the Tuesday nightmare bartender. WOW what a difference the service was. The bartender (male) was excellent, polite, friendly, etc. He was A+ and always busy doing things. I don't think one person waited less than 5 minutes before he served them. Quite a difference from Tuesday... and Woman take note "very nice looking also" or as they say "easy on the eyes". So I believe I will be back again, expect on Tuesday. (The cook is really good though and nice). I am going to go there on a Bears night...one of the patrons mentioned it gets quite crowded and a fun atmosphere. So I will check it out. read more

I've been coming here for 20 years ever since the Fits took over. I've never had a situation where I felt uncomfortable. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. Staff has changed many of times but everyone they have hired have been awesome. Atmosphere changes at certain hours and days and nights. There's literally something for everyone to enjoy. Our first time here won't be the last. We were looking for a place with a Friday fish fry. We gave Fitz's a try. Remind me of a old fashion neighborhood bar. Servers were awesome. We started out with the "Fitz's chips" really good homemade chips with cheddar cheese bacon and crumbled blue cheese all melted to perfection. We both had the fish fry. The fish was done perfect. Great food, good service at this establishment. Would definitely go back. I do however need to add one exception. When we sat down the bartender asked for a charge card which was fine. When I received the register bill it was just the amount owed and the bill was not itemized. I asked what we paid for and he verbally told us but I wanted to see an itemized bill. The bartender then spoke to one of the servers telling her we wanted an itemized bill and she approved. I have never been to a restaurant that did not supply me the customer either an itemized bill. I like to check my bill always to see what I am being charged. Over all I would definitely go back to Fritz's but would expect the complete bill. read more

Incredible food! Over the years I've tried most of the menu and I've ALWAYS been satisfied. Whether it's more lunch type dishes and sandwiches or hearty dinner plates, it's delivered the Irish soup food that set me right. I love the wings, burgers and chicken, the Irish nachos, soups and fried mushrooms. Read reviews before trying this place for the Friday fish fry. It seemed that they were either 1 star or 5 stars, so we took a chance and hoped for the best!! We sat down and the waitress brought us menus and asked what we wanted to drink, so we told her we didn't have a chance to look at the drink menu yet and she walked away. AFTER SITTING THERE FOR 30 MINUTES TRYING TO WAVE HER DOWN, WE FINALLY WALKED OUT WITHOUT FOOD OR DRINKS. She was arguing with other customers about them splitting a check at one point and totally ignoring us sitting there. I guess we will never know if their fish fry is good. Mr and Mrs Fitz are the literally the most welcoming, humble, human beings I have ever met. Their bartenders Lauren and Lindsey are amazing. I have nothing but the best of words to describe them. They genuinely care about you, and your well being. My best friend and I come to this place every Wednesday for a drink. We have been coming here for over a year and this place keeps us coming back. I don't usually leave reviews, but I had to for this place. Blonde bartender who works on Saturday night sucks at her job. A super fun place aside from that. But man, it took forever to get our drinks. Each person in my group had to stand on different sides of the bar to get noticed. After 20 minutes of waiting, she finally came to us. Not to mention, that women's attitude is horrible. If y'all are busy, throw a couple extra bartenders on instead of having 1 girl with the worst attitude I've ever seen behind there. Not to be confused with "Fitz's Spare Keys", which is nearby on York street. Get that straight if you are meeting people here, or they may never show up. The waitress was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The bar was packed on a Thursday night for the Bears vs Packers game, and still the waitress was spot on. The reuben I ordered was pretty good - fresh corn beef, saurkraut, Swiss cheese on grilled dark rye. It was served with Thousand island dressing, fries and a pickle for $9. It's no Boloney's Reubenesque, but I don't think any Reuben will ever be. The basket of fried mushrooms for $5 was pretty good, served with ranch dressing. They also had $7 domestic pitcher special. I gave this place an extra star for having a popcorn machine popping fresh free popcorn for everyone. I just can't resist the smell of popcorn. Roll me out of here! I didn't realized this when I parked on the street, but they have a parking lot in the back of the restaurant. Bar food. It can be great. Or it can be the worst decision you've made since sporting those "Hammer" parachute pants you thought were so cool in the early 90's. So far from Fitz's, I've found it to be the former. This is only my second visit to Fitz's. The first time was about a year ago when I met a couple friends for some late night drinks. I happened to browse their food menu & was intrigued enough to come back some time & sample. Well that "some time" was today, nearly a year later (yes, I'm slow). It was the right day, although I try to avoid going to taverns alone because I'll feel like a lonely drunk. But I was just getting off work, & had a b&b craving (burger & beer) ....Plus I considered the possibility that I may actually be a lonely drunk, so I might as well get a meal out of it, right??! I have a method for trying a places food for the first time: try their burgers (if applicable). If those are good, I'll like the place. I'm a burger man. Hence, it didn't take long for me to decide the "Fitz's Burger" was the item of choice. An "Irish style" 1/2 lb burger, hand packed & topped with corned beef, swiss cheese, thousand island, with onion, tomato & lettuce on the side. My medium/well burger was very juicy. So much so, I barely tasted the corned beef or thousand island. The swiss was melted perfectly between the meats. The fries were good. Not great, but NOT soggy, which is a plus. All great while being complimented by my tall glass of Blue Moon. It's nice little establishments like this that make me content that I seldom leave the suburbs. If Fitz's is simply a place I come after work once a week to have a beer (or six) & a meal, I'm perfectly happy with that. The beer is cold, the food is good, & I can forget about the pressures of life for an hour or two...sweet. What's keeping me from giving it 5 stars? ...well nothing...maybe another trip or two so I can sample more of their menu. When I do, I'll update! read more
