1/2 Garbage Salad and Vesuvio Potatoes
    Trina K.

After driving by this establishment a dozen times and hearing about it from someone who lives nearby, I finally stopped in. 3-4 visits later, I'm writing a review. In terms of ambiance, it's a decent sized restaurant, When you enter, the bar and video poker are to the left and traditional seating is to the right. In the seating area, there's a chalk board filled with daily specials and featured items. If that isn't enough, there's an extension menu with something for any palette. I've tried a few items and would order each of them again. Vesuvio salad - 5/5. Spinach based and packed with flavor. See photo Italian wedding soup - 4/5 Italian Specialty Salad - 4/5. Packed w: meat and cheese. Chicken Vesuvio with Potatoes - 3/5 The potatoes are TDF. Veal Saltimbocca - 4/5 Flavorful. Chicken Parmesan - 3/5. Large portion Service has exceeded my expectations during each dine in visit. The wait staff are welcoming, patient and attentive. There is almost always a manager/owner present who also stops by to check in. If in the area or close by, you should definitely visit.

The mushrooms I picked off of my entree with no mushrooms...I could not get them all..But the chicken was raw so I threw it out..

They are hit or miss..Some things are ok..Some not ok..Sausage and peppers is very good...Giambotta with chicken could be ok if the chicken was cooked.. Half of it was raw..Pasta dishes are all right. Not bad but nothing over the top..There is no garlic taste anywhere on any dish with garlic..It seems they have a 50% average of messing up.. It is hard to read their specials because they are on one blackboard a 100 feet away from most of the room. So most likely you will not know the specials ..And if you ask the waitress what they are..Her response is,,"there are just too many to tell me" The service is very slow when the place is busy.. Oh and they love mushrooms..So you are going to get them weather you want them or not..So if you do not love mushrooms,do not eat here..I enclosed a picture of my chicken giambotta..I asked if I could have it without mushrooms. The server said "yes of course" Well enclosed is a picture of just the mushrooms I picked out of my dish. I could not get them all..Raw chicken, extra mushrooms, no garlic, no specials..And I paid for it and tipped because I am dumb ..I tried the place three times.. It's just not worth hoping they do not mess up your dish..Something is off every time..Sorry..

If you haven't had a great meal in a while then you haven't been to village pub in Riverside!! The food is amazing!!

Had a great experience at Village Pub! It was a bit of a slow Sunday but the service was very attentive. The waitress gave us excellent reccomendations. We ordered chicken saltimboca and chicken piccante. It was so tasty that I forgot to take a picture until I was half way through! The portions were HUGE and the chicken was very tender and flavorful. Highly reccomend trying any of the chicken dishes. You won't regret it. A great spot in North Riverside!

Homemade Tiramisu with espresso & Kahlúa liquor

How have I never been to this gem before? Popular with the locals, and my sister has heard many good things about Village Pub. From the outside the building is basic. But don't let it fool ya. When you walk in it's a very nice bar and dining area. Plenty of parking, and there is street parking available too. We came on karaoke night so it was packed. Good thing they take reservations too! We started out with some martinis, calamari and bruschetta. The calamari was so so tender with a nice crispy bite, not greasy at all. The marinara sauce was different. It was served cold and on the sweet side, but I loved it! Hit it with lemon juice and it's a delicious bite. The bruschetta was fresh and served on a warm garlic toast. Though I could do without olives in it. I'm ok picking it out. Main meals were piccata chicken and linguine, sea bass and potatoes, and rigatoni vodka with grilled chicken. Piccata chicken was crispy and juicy, but just a tad on the salty side. The lemon sauce that laced each noodle was luscious. The sea bass was tender and so flavorful with lemon butter drizzle. Potatoes were cooked just right too. I'm a fan of vodka sauce, and their sauce did not disappoint. Creamy, rich, and a hint of vodka. Rigatoni was al dente, and the grilled chicken was tender but a bit salty. Finished off our meals with homemade tiramisu. It was delicious but the lady fingers were heavily soaked in Kahlúa so we mostly ate the top layer. Service here is fantastic and very attentive !! Our waitress Natalie was quick and always checked in on us. We had several employees also just stop by and clean our table without even asking them to and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. There are daily specials as well.

Bacon cheeseburger in background and a mushroom blue cheese and fried egg burger cut in half, 10 ounces of luscious taste!!

Nice place ya got here buddy…read more I was seeking a bar that was roughly halfway between Oak Park & Orland Park (meeting someone, heh heh), and I happened to stumble upon this über-divey treasure. Miller Lite was the only beer they had on tap, but you could get a bucket of it for like a nickel. Hyperbole? Maybe. A 60oz pitcher of the classic domestic swill cost only $5, which is pretty damn tough to beat if you ask me. Liz behind the bar was super friendly and introduced herself not long after I sat down. Once my +1 arrived, Liz was nice enough to make a bag of popcorn that she gave us to munch on. Talk about being given a warm reception! They don't accept Discover and have a $10 minimum on credit card purchases, but for a small operation like this it's to be expected, so I can't fault them for that. Some of the barstools are a teensy bit ripped-up, although in a dive bar setting like this, I find that they truly 'complete the look'. Great homey feel and a jukebox loaded with tons of tunes for 50¢ or a dollar per song. They've got billiards tables and a few slot machines that I imagine get a lot of play from their 'regulars'. They also feature Karaoke on select nights of the week. There's a very tasteful piece of nude art behind the bar, which I'm told is a painted portrait of someone who works there. Being a big fan of all things naked people, I found this to be a nice touch amidst the cans of Old Style and half-empty Smirnoff bottles. ....and unless I'm mistaken, I definitely met/talked to/received free shots from *the* Jimmy of said namesake bar. His taste in Huey Lewis & The News (along with his great taste in hats) didn't go unnoticed. He was hilarious and insisted that I stick around for a while [keep in mind this was at 11pm on a Wednesday], but I had to decline. Lyons is generally off my radar, but for the way I was greeted and taken care of at this establishment, I'd not hesitate for a second to stop back in, if I were to be in the area again.

I scanned the QR code and went to the bathroom. As I walked back there, I noticed there were 4 open spots at the bar and there were 6 2-top tables set up, which was confusing because there was a 45 minutes wait. Walking back from the bathroom I thought I would ask the bartender if the seating at the bar was also reserved by through the waitlist. I walked up ( did not attempt to sit down as that part of the bar was not clean) and the bartender started rudely saying "have you spoken to the host " I said yes but I had a question, and she continuously said " you have to speak to the host." I told her that I just had a question for her then she rudely said again "sometimes we use this as seating so-rry." My partner and I decided to leave after that. I had never been treated that way in my life. I open my mouth to say something and I couldn't because I was rudely interrupted. I felt like I was hurried out of the area. After being here countless times before and exploring the menu with friends and family, I don't think I will ever come back as this left a bad taste in my mouth. It's hard to go back when you feel you were discriminated against. My partner and I felt like we were that night as the attitudes and behaviors from the bartender and hostess were rude.

Our waitress checked on us numerous times and kept things going. The food is where I have to say, this place was OK. There are a lot of vegetarian options, so that is a great start for me and my crew. Pizza, black bean burgers, etc. I think the nachos were pretty decent. One main ingredient I'd say they were missing was beans, guac, or even salsa. I guess we could have asked for some, but we didn't. Then we had a hummus platter, which came with a bunch of dipping veggies and some pita bread. Nicely presented, and the hummus was fine. The margarita pizza was decent as well. Crispy and all. And finally, the black bean burger, which we substituted in for the El Diablo burger. It was fine. We didn't leave any room for dessert as all of the above was already a LOT. Again, overall fun times.
