I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant when I was browsing which restaurants participated in the 2026 Chicago restaurant week. Posto 31 is located in Lagrange Park which is just slightly outside and west of the city. Their restaurant week deal is $45 per person for dinner and every adult in the party is required to participate. We tried the following: 1) Pork belly with a brown butter sweet potato mash and apple slaw - This was a delicious and refreshing appetizer. The fat isn't excessive and there is a good sear with the pork belly. I think it was different in a sense that it didn't exactly go with the Italian theme. 2) Arancini with chicken, parmesan, mozzarella, and marinara. This is the standard fare and you can't go wrong with this selection. 3) Faroe Island salmon with squash puree and Brussel sprout slaw. The salmon was well executed and I loved how it was paired with the slaw. 4) Arrabbiata with squid ink linguini and jumbo shrimp. This was the star of the night and what drew our attention when we first reviewed the restaurant week menu. It is rare to find squid ink linguini in the city and neighboring suburbs. The portion was huge and the flavors were absolutely delicious. We are already planning a return to order this again. 5) Tiramisu was the standard fare and once again, the portion was huge. We demolished it though. 6) Cookie skillet had a square of chocolate chip cookie topped with candied pretzels, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. We did not get to try it because our girls just took it to town. So needless to say, it was thoroughly enjoyed. We also ordered the kids' an eight inch pepperoni pizza. We had reservations for dinner here for 6:30, but arrived around 5:30 and sat at the bar. Jimmy our bartender was beyond kind and efficient and made the best drinks. We really enjoyed our time at the bar - when seated we ordered our dinner and the food was also beyond delicious Try the chicken limone!!! This place is classy and close to home. This is my second visit to Posto 31. This little Italian restaurant has delicious food and a great bourbon selection. On this visit the restaurant was very noisy and so cold. It was hard to carry on a conversation across our table, and I was cold even after putting on my jacket. Our server was Jamie and he provided okay service, I wouldn't say attentive or engaging. He didn't introduce himself, which as a former server irritates me. That should be the first thing a server does when greeting the customer. Certainly not as attentive. We ordered the whipped ricotta & honey appetizer, the meatballs & polenta appetizer and the grilled Caesar salad to share among the three of us. They were all delicious and generous to split among three people. I was, however, disappointed when I asked for different bread that had no sesame seeds on it for the one appetizer we ordered as I can't have nuts or seeds due to diverticulosis, and I was told that was it. This Italian restaurant had no other bread. Really? No ciabatta, no Tuscan bread - just sesame seed bread? Posto 31 should think about adding another bread for those people who have either allergies or medical reasons why they can't eat sesame seeds. For entrées, my husband and I split the lasagna and my son had the short rib gnocchi. Both entrées were so good. The lasagna was served in a baking dish and was generous in size. I tasted my son's short rib rigatoni, which I had before, and it was still as delicious as I remembered. We didn't have dessert, but did order cappuccinos. I would not recommend the cappuccinos because they do not know how to make them properly. As my son put it, it looks like the cappuccinos you would get at Denny's. Don't get me wrong, I would still dine at Posto 31 for their delicious food, but know not to order the ricotta & honey appetizer next time as they cannot provide an alternative to the sesame bread, nor would I order a cappuccino. I reduced my rating from our first visit because of the noisy cold restaurant, the lack of alternative bread, their cappuccinos and just ok service. read more

Food is incredible! Always is! Service, absolutely awful. Party of 6, apparently a 22% gratuity is included for party of 6? We wouldn't have even wanted to give 18% if we were being honest. We are usually a 22-30% tippers. Service was THAT bad. Not a manager came by to check on anything- zero bus boys - we stacked our own plates.. cleared our table waiting for them to pick it up. Based off a fellow golfer's recommendation, we tried Posto 31 last night. Had the pleasure of sitting in their back patio - which was lovely. Could easily seat 15-20 tables. Had covering/umbrellas and it was a peaceful experience. Our waitress was great and being our first time there - she gave us some recommendations on how much to order - which was appreciated. My white wine (Savvy Blanc) was perfect and paired well with our food. We started with the Corn Ribs and really didn't know what to expect. It's literally corn cobs they cut into rib shapes and grill. It was so unique and a great appetizer to try. We then moved onto the Grilled Caesar Salad. This too was a fave b/c the grilled aspect of the dish (along with the parm crisps) really sold it. Lastly - we had the Arrabbiata. Not too spicy, but the tomatoes had a nice kick. We also enjoyed the dish - but hard to compete with the uniqueness of the first two courses! We would go back - even to sit inside the restaurant. Really nice experience on a quiet Sunday night at the restaurant. Excellent wait service. Attentive, fun and respectful of our space - i.e. not over the top pushy or chummy. Abundant portion size. Had salmon that was well prepared. As a visitor from the Pacific Northwest where we're pretty picky about how salmon is prepared - they did a great job - medium rare with a very nice searing. The tiramisu was enough to feed four - but of course I was able to devour it all. Prices were reasonable. I'd go back the next time I'm visiting this area. read more

We ordered the bolognese gemelli; while I appreciated the attempt at a traditional red sauce (with carrots), the ssuce lacked depth of flavor and was watery (I suspect that the pasta wasn't properly drained so that pasta water was directly added to our dish. Bianco pizza was good, not exceptional. Brussels sprouts appetizer was very good. Service was pleasant and attentive. Budino dessert was very good. Atmosphere was pretty neutral - a square dining area and our table was right in the middle of the room. read more

A delicious cute cozy Italian restaurant. I was recommended to go by a family member and it did not disappoint! Recently visiting Italy, the pasta was excellent. The appetizers were tasty as well, the bruschetta was really good. I tried the mango margarita it was good but stronnnggg! So beware, definitely worth it if you want to taste the alcohol. I just visited your restaurant and it took over ten minutes to be waited on despite the fact that it was very early, around 4:30 pm, and only one other person was seated in the dining section. Another issue I had is that the music was playing too loud and I could barely hear what my husband was saying to me. My third complaint was the pasta was served under cooked. read more

On one of the last nice evenings of the year, we were seated on the back patio. When possible, I highly recommend the patio, the inside of the restaurant was the temperature of a meat locker. Everyone was enjoying their food and all the servers were very attentive. Now, we ordered the sausage and peppers as a appetizer which is, apparently, new to their menu. Not at all what I was expecting. The entire length of the homemade sausage was sitting on a bed of potatoes, onions, and I did find one slice of red pepper. The sausage was the diameter of a breakfast sausage and on the spicy side I thought it was a little crispy for Italian sausage. You had to cut whatever size sausage you wanted. They were kind enough to accommodate our party of 4 by making the meatballs an order of 4 instead of 3. Dinner salad was delicious. Our entrees were served hot and the the portion was generous. Also, there is only one gender-neutral bathroom for the entire restaurant. Parking is on the street and 31st is very busy. You may have to drive around a bit to find a parking space. First time coming for happy hour. Definitely one of the best in town. Service at the bar was great, and very attentive. Great food and drink options on the HH menu. The portions are a bit smaller but still a good deal. The posto burger has to be one of my favorites in the area and the garlic aioli is to die for. I've never had a bad meal at Posto. I always try something new off the menu and have never been disappointed. We have gone to Posto 31 several times a year since it opened. Food is very good, and the menu selection has improved post-Covid. Service has varied, but seems to be going in a different direction from the food. Last night my wife and I arrived and waited for a long time watching people who arrived after us have their orders taken. This was the second time in a row this happened. The first time was a weeknight, and the restaurant was not busy. Two servers were chatting by one of the computer stations. Last night it was busy. At the same time my wife flagged a waiter, and I went to talk to the manager. The manager was apologetic, but offered no explanations. The server who eventually came to the table was nice enough, but spent too much time explaining why it wasn't her fault. Our four guests arrived, and it was time to pay the bill. I had naively assumed that something would be comped although I had not asked for anything. Wrong assumption. The bill did, however, include a 22% gratuity. I did not care to my confrontational in front of my guests, and signed the credit card slip. The coding on the credit card receipt is very clever. The lines are listed as subtotal, gratuity, tax, and amount, suggesting that the gratuity does not include 22% of the tax. However, my $81.80 included 22% of the tax. Staff turnover appears to be high, and that could explain some of the difficulty with service. read more

Wanted to like it, but the only bread was focaccia. To me, an Italian restaurant must serve Italian bread. Charge me for it, but have it available. The polenta fries were very good, although the "red pepper marinara," needed more flavor. We added chicken to a salad and were served a delicious half-breast with wing. Very good. The Pomodoro pasta was glutinous, not light and fresh. Service was excellent. They do a good business. I'll be back when they serve Italian bread. read more

Visited this place for the first time after it was on my must visit list for a very long time. I showed up in time to catch a happy hour beverage at the bar before our reservation. They had a few cocktails for excellent prices on the menu, a round of Posto spritzes felt perfect for a spring evening. While hanging out we noticed that the happy hour food menu was also very appealing. We decided to go around the world and order one of everything, the bartender chuckled and asked if we were sure haha. We were. Order up another round of posto spritz and here we go! Arancini - excellent little breaded fried balls of prime beef and risotto Meatballs - with red sauce and creamy polenta Honey ricotta - small slices of toast with buttery creamy perfect ricotta Pasta - vodka rigatoni was perfect, should have thrown the meatballs in with that one! Spicy chicken!!!!!!! - the absolute star of the show, please for the love of all that is holy order this, a healthy serving of fried crispy chicken with a sweet spicy sauce. Simply amazing, I'll get 3 orders of just this next time. Needless to say we cancelled our table reservation and talked to the bartender the whole night, we ended up with house made lemoncello as a prize for finishing all of the food. It was awesome, definitely one of the best spots for a date night in the western burbs. read more

Tried this cute little place for Valentine's dinner on a Saturday night. It was very busy and loud but we had a reservation and got seated right away. They had a few special items on the menu for valentine's, so I tried their valentine's day special cocktail (forgot the name), my husband had smoked old fashioned. My drink tasted very pink, lol but I liked it. It was vodka based and strong! We ordered the fried calamari appetizer and it was so good! Light and crispy, generous portion. For entrees we had lobster risotto (valentine special) and gnocchi with short ribs. The lobster risotto was good, it had a whole lobster on the risotto instead of little pieces- but I don't know if I'll get it again for $60. The gnocchi was a little too salty. I think I'd still come back and try other things on the menu. read more

Wow! Just wow!!! Posto 31 has the best happy hour I've had in a long time. My amazing friend and I love doing happy hour during the week at different places around town and came across Posto 31. We decided to give it a try and we were blown away. The food was deliciously good. The filet sliders were cooked at medium rare and melted in your mouth like butter. The meatballs are to die for. Like by far the best meatball ever. The creamy polenta and sauce tied it all together. The whipped honey ricotta sesame toast is heaven sent. That there alone is a dessert for me. The creamy sauce from the freshly made rigatoni is a dream and made me think I was in someone's kitchen in Italy. Plus the strawberry thyme drink made by Abraham was the bomb! I'm coming back for that one again. The service was fast and the staff were so nice. We didn't have to wait long for our food. The ambiance is very upscale to me, super clean and the decor is beautifully done. Also shout out to the amazing couple we got to meet during our happy hour named Mark and Christian! I totally wished I got their number. They made our first visit so much fun and we got to enjoy a shot of Lemoncello that is also house made with them. Kudos to the chef and owner!! I went with a friend who wanted to try their happy hour, which is only served at the bar or street side patio. I checked the menu beforehand to see if there were any vegan options but was disappointed to not find any and to see the main menu has a note at the bottom that substitutions were politely discouraged. I still agreed to go to have a glass of wine and ate a snack at home first. The patio on the street was very nice but could be loud at rush hour, the server was very friendly and when asked about the possibility of the spaghetti marinara being made vegan she looked into it and advised me as long as the spaghetti noodle was chosen and if the chef was advised not to use butter or cheese then the dish could be vegan from the happy hour menu. I decided to try the dish and was glad she helped come up with an option. My wife and I went for Valentines Day. The food was delicious, we had arancini and focaccia bread as appetizers and pasta a la posto and filet medallions for the entrees and finished up with bread pudding. Everything was great. We tried a few cocktails from their menu, tasty and strong. Adriana was our server and she was helpful, cheery and offered good suggestions. We will definitely be back. read more

We had an excellent dinner here as we continued our Christmas get togethers. We started with the antipasto board which included an amazing creamy burrata, nicely spiced soppressata, and delicious tomato jam and dark bread. I had a Dani's black Manhattan which was excellent and very strong, and so was enjoyed slowly throughout the meal. The cocktail list is very interesting and even includes one that is actually smoked;we were close to the bar and so could see the smoker at work which was entertaining and confirmed they didn't just add smoke flavoring. I had the rigatoni for my entree. The fresh pasta was wonderful and the sausage and vodka sauce were perfect. It had just enough spice without overpowering the pasta. The menu seems to focus on classic dishes rather than anything too trendy which seems to be working for them. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their food. Portions are reasonable rather than the vats of pasta sometimes served at other establishments. Service was good, and street parking was readily available just around the corner. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away, but the place was full and remained full while we were there. I'd definitely recommend reservations! read more

I don't know why I waited so long to try this place what a awesome vibrant place. They make it feel fancy and yet comfortable with the great service. The food portions are big the appetizers are generous you will not leave her without leftovers. I had the ricotta bread which was awesome I would have liked to be able to control the amount of ricotta on the bread but nonetheless it was creamy and delicious.
