We tried Gaia for the first time on Mother's Day and were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the entire experience was. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The service was fantastic; the staff was attentive, never letting our drinks go empty, and every course was timed perfectly. The food was incredible, and every bite was delicious. The bruschetta was perfectly prepared, the Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and cheesy, and the chocolate fudge cake drizzled with strawberry sauce was absolutely to die for. Gaia is a place that is simply not great. There is no elevation. There is no heart. The space gives feelings of ..faux glamour. For the area, that's not too bad a vibe. But the food. Where is the thought? The herbs? The acid? The heat? Missed opportunity after missed opportunity. We live in Berwyn. We want to support local places so very much. We've been coming to Gaia (and its predecessor) for years. We love the food and atmosphere here. But...the last time we were here about a month ago to celebrate our anniversary, we were very disappointed in the service. Very uneven. Had to wait quite a while to even be acknowledged when we sat down & it did take a while to get our drinks. It was a Saturday night and they were clearly understaffed. It may not be a lot to some people, but if we spend close to $200 on dinner for two of us, it had better be worth it. We came here randomly on a Thursday evening. There was a good crowd for it being a Thursday. We were seated right away, the atmosphere was very warm and welcoming. This was not just the Gaia team, but also the guests. It just felt like a nice place to come spend some time and have a meal. The team was very friendly, Gaia seems to emphasize good service and the overall experience here was exceptional. We started with a Caesar salad and the calamari fritti. Calamari was fresh, tasty, and the perfect crunchy consistency, not too crunchy or overdone. For the salad, they asked if we wanted to have it split in the kitchen before they brought it out, which we felt was a nice touch. For our entrees, we had the eggplant parmigiana, the gnocchi, the lamb chops, and of course, the Cacio e Pepe. Portions were very generous and very well priced. We loved the gnocchi to share, my mom loved her eggplant (and she's a tough critic), and the lamb chops were perfectly cooked, chef's recommendation (medium). I had been reading some decent reviews about this place and have not been there in about 5-6 years (maybe more) when it was a different business name. We made reservations for Saturday at 5:30. It does get crowded so I recommend making reservations. This place is comparable to one of our favorite Italian restaurants but a lot closer to home. I highly recommend you try the cacio de pepe which is made in the cheese wheel. Not only is it fun to watch, but it's beyond delicious. We actually ordered it as an appetizer at the suggestion of our server and split it amongst the four of us. Everything we had here was very good. Calamari for appetizer, their spicy rigatoni and the chicken alfredo was divine. Service was fantastic. We plan to return. read more

Even if we're weren't walking distance to Gaia, this would still be one of our favorite Italian restaurants. My wife's favorite is their Cacio e pepe, which is prepared table side. Everything I've tried from lasagna to short-rib ravioli has been excellent. And they make a mean smoked Old-fashioned. read more

I ordered takeout from Gaia Ristorante Italiano in Berwyn, IL and found a sharp metal wire in my food. I've attached a photo for proof. I contacted the restaurant. The owner acknowledged it was from their kitchen scrubbing pads and initially offered a refund -- but then stopped responding entirely and never sent it. I've since filed formal complaints with the Cook County Department of Public Health and Berwyn Township Health Department, as this was a serious safety issue. This could have caused life-threatening internal injury if swallowed. I tried to handle the situation privately and respectfully, but the restaurant chose not to follow through. I wouldn't feel safe dining here again until there's accountability. Please be cautious and check your food carefully if you choose to eat here. read more

My wife and I went here for the first time. We went on Sunday 12/21/25. We were seated right away. Bus boy brought water and bread. The server, who was waiting on table next to us, didn't seem to realize we were in her section. We waited for a while and she came by and said, "Oh" like she was surprised to see us sitting there. We ordered martinis and fried calamari. The calamari came before the drinks. We were eating the calamari and then she brought the drinks. Never asked how everything was. The calamari were chewy, but we ate it anyway because we were hungry. We ordered spaghetti carbonara and clams with white wine sauce. The helpings were large BUT, they both tasted similar, like the oil they used. Tasted like a blend, to be honest it tasted like margarine. The waitress NEVER once asked how things were, never came back to check on us except to offer the dessert menu. We had our pasta packed up to go, paid the bill (left a 15% tip) AND tipped the bus boy $10. He was the MOST attentive. He really knew each table and what they needed. I don't think we will be back. We are both home cooks and know what good food should taste like, especially fried calamari, it should not be chewy. On Saturday, April 6th, our dear friends took us to Gaia Ristorante for dinner in Berwyn, IL. I am hesitant to write a review for fear of this hidden gem being discovered!!! We arrived ten minutes late for our 7:30 PM reservations. There was a line out the door of people waiting to get seated. Luckily we had called to let them know we were running late and they held our reservation. We were quickly seated at a table by the window. Our server quickly arrived and took our cocktail order. Our friends ordered two glasses of wine, mine wife ordered Italian Mule & I ordered smoke Old Fashioned . All our drinks were perfect. For appetizers, we ordered the specialty of the house, meatballs, in a red sauce & baked clams. The meatballs & sauce were delicious! We used the fresh homemade bread to soak up every last bit of that sauce and eat it. For our main entrées we had: Four Cheese Risotto, perfectly cooked. Linguine Con Vongole, in a red sauce, again perfectly cooked. Pappardelle Bolognese, (not telling my wife) but it was better then my Mother in law's . Cheese Ravioli, delicious!! My dining experience was on a weeknight after deciding it was too late to cook and I can assure you, I'll be back really, really soon. This place is really special- great food, top notch service and reasonable pricing. Grilled Calamari with grilled vegetables- 5/5 (it was moist, flavorful and a nice portion. del Bosco Salad - 5/5 (super fresh ingredients and a dressing that was TDF). Food was okay, not spectacular. I went for a special date to celebrate an milestone with my partner and the ambiance was ruined an "influencer" on a Saturday night who was filming and talking so loudly I couldn't hear my partner at my table. I paid almost $200 for meh wine and 4 plates and didn't get to enjoy the experience, the influencer was catered to by the staff while obviously ruining the experience of the tables around them. I wouldn't order the steak btw, the "wine reduction" tasted like nothing but blood and salt. read more

We had a business dinner here in December and it could not have been better. The drinks and wine were great but the dinner itself was astounding. They cooked several of the dishes right at the table in side a huge mozzarella wheel. I ordered some pasta with red sauce and asked for it to be medium spicy and it was perfect. Nice cute restaurant by the metra station. We got there on a weekday early evening so no issue parking right in front. I'd probably arrive after 5pm in the future because the metra parking is either reserved or you have to pay on weekdays. The menu is a bit extensive but I figure they will trim it down once they see which items are most popular. I had the fettuccini diavolo which I really liked. It has a spicy red sauce with shrimp and calamari. My partner had the chicken piccata which seems super simple but was amazing! The sauce was so rich and balanced. My favorite pasta I order everywhere I go is Vongole bianco(Spaghetti clam white wine sauce) OR Spaghetti Aglio e Olio. They are simple pasta and it is like Japanese soba (noodle). VERY Simple - so you know if the restaurant is really good or not. I ordered Vongole bianco at Gaia and it was disappointing. For my rating, it was B - (B minus) . The sauce was pretty tasty but a bit too thick and the presentation was not clean. A big problem was pasta. It was soft like noodle and it was NOT al dente at all. I wonder if they boil in bulk to leave and use when each order comes. We ordered Bruschetta. Again this is a simple appetizer which you can tell the restaurant is good or not. They were good, B+. REALLY good bruschetta is simpler (not too many toppings or balsamic vinegar sauce..) by fresh simple ingredients to melt in your mouth. Crab cake was pretty good. Crab cake doesn't go wrong in any restaurant. Tiramisu was tasty but AGAIN presentation is way too much and looks a bit cheap. 　Over the tiramisu, the chocolate syrup is decorated as jagged all over on the plate. The presentation lacks sensitivities. delicacy and sophistication. All dishes are pretty good. read more

Being Italian it's hard for me to try new Italian restaurants because I feel like they tend to fall flat. They fall flat with flavor, atmosphere, and flavor(again) but not Gaia. Service was great! Although the teams system was down the night we went, they definitely made up for it. We got fried calamari, that was crispy and delicious. And some nice cocktails. I guess our pasta and veal took a bit longer to come out. We personally hadn't noticed, but our server brung us some fresh bruschetta as an apology snack. Oh, and by the way, the food is the star of the show, not one bad dish, simply amazing. The DRINKS: I had an Olf Fashioned (not smoked, but available if that's your preference), it was among one of the best I've ever had. My wife had the Margarita, she loved it, especially the berries as garnish. The FOOD: The Lamb Chops and Vodka Sauce Gnocchi were phenomenal, I just can't put it any other way. The Veal was super moist & butter soft. The Chicken Parm was equally moist and smother in a delicious tomato sauce that was not acidic at all (normally my greatest fear of this dish). This is quite a gem! I am so upset I didn't know about this restaurant sooner! I met a fellow Chicago influencer friend and we had a great meal here! This Berwyn restaurant is a hidden gem for real! We started with the calamari appetizer which was phenomenal! The bread service was yummy as well! Of course served with "Italian butter" i.e. olive oil. I had the chicken vesuvio, a Italian Chicago classic, and it was EVERYTHING! So delicious and flavorful! The chicken was cooked perfectly as well as the potatoes and I really enjoyed it. My friend had the Bolognese and my mouth was drooling. As much as I enjoyed my chicken Vesuvio, I will definitely try the bolognase next time. We ended the meal in traditional Italian fashion with tiramisu which was fantastic! So light, so yummy, it was really one of the best tiramisu I have had, and you think, how can tiramisu taste difference? But it can! My boyfriend scarfed down his ravioli and loved every last bite! But the star of the meal was the cannoli! Whoa. I've never seen a presentation like this before. LOVED the cinnamon and though I'm usually not a huge chocolate fan, the drizzle was perfect! I expected nothing less from a Sicilian chef! Would have liked to see more Sicilian dishes on the menu.
