Jim-may, my man! Nice place ya got here buddy…read more I was seeking a bar that was roughly halfway between Oak Park & Orland Park (meeting someone, heh heh), and I happened to stumble upon this über-divey treasure. Miller Lite was the only beer they had on tap, but you could get a bucket of it for like a nickel. Hyperbole? Maybe. A 60oz pitcher of the classic domestic swill cost only $5, which is pretty damn tough to beat if you ask me. Liz behind the bar was super friendly and introduced herself not long after I sat down. Once my +1 arrived, Liz was nice enough to make a bag of popcorn that she gave us to munch on. Talk about being given a warm reception! They don't accept Discover and have a $10 minimum on credit card purchases, but for a small operation like this it's to be expected, so I can't fault them for that. Some of the barstools are a teensy bit ripped-up, although in a dive bar setting like this, I find that they truly 'complete the look'. Great homey feel and a jukebox loaded with tons of tunes for 50¢ or a dollar per song. They've got billiards tables and a few slot machines that I imagine get a lot of play from their 'regulars'. They also feature Karaoke on select nights of the week. There's a very tasteful piece of nude art behind the bar, which I'm told is a painted portrait of someone who works there. Being a big fan of all things naked people, I found this to be a nice touch amidst the cans of Old Style and half-empty Smirnoff bottles. ....and unless I'm mistaken, I definitely met/talked to/received free shots from *the* Jimmy of said namesake bar. His taste in Huey Lewis & The News (along with his great taste in hats) didn't go unnoticed. He was hilarious and insisted that I stick around for a while [keep in mind this was at 11pm on a Wednesday], but I had to decline. Lyons is generally off my radar, but for the way I was greeted and taken care of at this establishment, I'd not hesitate for a second to stop back in, if I were to be in the area again.

My friends and I have stayed away from here due to rude staff, riff raff, fights, etc. in the last several years. We decided to give them a try a week ago as we were assured by another patron that it was under new ownership. The new owners supposedly cleaned house and removed all the previous troublesome staff. Everything seemed to have improved from our visit here a week ago, but that's because Michelle was not there. We had zero issues with the staff that day, we were served without issue, and overall we thought the renovations were an improvement. The prices have gone up but they have added premium beverages to their selection. Unfortunately, Michelle was not included in the staff overhaul, and mistreated my friend during a recent visit. It is a real shame that The Cordial Inn continues to have problem bartenders, because this place *used* to be a gem. It's now a far cry from cordial. The interior renovations are not worth it for any of us to tolerate disrespectful behavior from bar staff. I am beyond offended that the new owners allow the bar staff to treat customers badly. There are plenty of other choices in the area, and my choice is to spend my money where the staff appreciate my money and patronage.

When we pulled up to the venue, we were a little uncertain as to where to enter, as the venue had several stages. A it turns out, the show we went to see was in the "nightclub", interior of the venue. When we walked in, we noticed that many of the tables were reserved. However, it was not yet crowded, so we found an open table still close to the stage. The venue is really pretty small, so no seat is a bad seat. We got drinks right away. They had a full bar and a decent drink menu. We chose the Vieux Carré, which was pre-made in large batches by their bartender, but still very good. It was nice that there was a cocktail server serving us all night. It was also nice that they served food from the restaurant in the nightclub. We were able to share some appetizers before the show. All in all, it was a great venue with an enthusiastic crowd. They had good food and good drinks. I do think I would have been better if they had a larger dance floor, as some of the reserved tables (which remained empty) took up dance floor space. We were still able to find space to dance, but it would have been crowded had there been more dancers.

When we got there the door greater host asked if we had a reservation. Reservation? For burgers outside? No. He seemed frustrated and bothered but found us a seat. Waited for someone to come up and take our order for over 10 minutes. Had to ask someone for help. They sent someone over and again, she seemed bothered. We ordered drinks and 15 minutes later finally got them. Might have been better to just walk up to the bar and get them ourselves. Then the food. Another person, not the same as the drinks, came up and asked if we were ready to order yet. Like in a demanding way. Again, not welcoming at all. We ordered the $5 specials. 2 burgers, 2 pulled pork. They came out fairly quickly compared to everything else. The person who brought them out was at least nice and had a smile. The burgers themselves are pretty big. Double patty with cheese and a sauce and served with waffle fries. Pulled pork sandwich was full and with fries as well. The problem was, there was nothing else on the burger. Very plain and well done. And the pulled pork sandwiches were so salty one of us didn't even finish it. It was like some opened a salt shaker and dumped it out on the. Very dry and chewy strings of meat as well. We asked a couple times for condiments and drink refills but that was like pulling teeth and gave up. No condiments on the tables at all besides hot sauce. When the bill came we about fell over. For a $5 meal, it didn't come out that way at the end. Between adding a coke, tax and whatever fee there was a $5 meal more than doubled to $12 each. Again, we had cokes, not liquor. And no special add on toppings or sides. And don't get me started on the S'mores kits they sold us. $12 for 4 small marshmallows, 1 full gram cracker (broke in half), 1 Hershey bar and a stick. I mean I know chocolate's been expensive lately, but dang! I mean you can get an entire bag of marshmallows, box of gram crackers and a couple candy bars for that price. The show itself was fine. Kind of loud for the small room it was in and a little too packed for the room size. We didn't feel welcomed at all. At any point. No one was upbeat, happy or even smiled besides the one guy that brought us our food. The opposite really like were were bothering them for being there and eating food. It was like they all had that we're too cool for you vibe going on. But really it was just small town I hate my job attitude. To management, I'd suggest you talk to your staff. If they are truly that unhappy working there, address it. Or, if this is the vibe you are going for, it doesn't work. For the food, it smelled great outside like a campfire bbq but the $5 specials are only a good deal when you can actually eat them. Talk to the chef and watch how things are made or ingredients put in. We will be back for the entertainment, but not sure on the food.
