A couple weeks ago, my husband and I went to Fitzgerald's to see one of our favorite bands, the Red Elvises. It was our first time there. We purchased GA tickets online earlier that day. When we pulled up to the venue, we were a little uncertain as to where to enter, as the venue had several stages. A it turns out, the show we went to see was in the "nightclub", interior of the venue. When we walked in, we noticed that many of the tables were reserved. However, it was not yet crowded, so we found an open table still close to the stage. The venue is really pretty small, so no seat is a bad seat. We got drinks right away. They had a full bar and a decent drink menu. We chose the Vieux Carré, which was pre-made in large batches by their bartender, but still very good. It was nice that there was a cocktail server serving us all night. It was also nice that they served food from the restaurant in the nightclub. We were able to share some appetizers before the show. All in all, it was a great venue with an enthusiastic crowd. They had good food and good drinks. I do think I would have been better if they had a larger dance floor, as some of the reserved tables (which remained empty) took up dance floor space. We were still able to find space to dance, but it would have been crowded had there been more dancers. read more

FitzGerald's in Berwyn holds a really special place in the community. Not just as an iconic, one of a kind venue with year-round live music (probably more than anywhere in Chicagoland) but as reminder that live music can still fit into overscheduled grown-up life with kids, responsibilities I've been to plenty of late-night indoor shows here (no kids present) and they're fantastic. But music lovers with kids also want to support shows and live music of less commercial genres (jazz, funk, blues, folk, etc.) so it's there for the next generation(s). Don't let Merlla M, who has 19 one-star reviews, change anything you are doing. I feel like parents there do their very best to monitor and watch the kids but if they are into the music and not getting in the way of the staff and the parents clean up after them... What's the issue? We are so lucky to have an option like this and I am in debt to Fitz's so want to support them when I can. Live music will not survive on nostalgia or only off the very young/very olds/childless's $$$. Keep it up and thank you. read more

Fitzgerald's is an iconic venue and a perfect place to spend some time taking in a show (I've seen everything from local live music to fleetwood mac tributes to a presentation of haunted artifacts there lol). The venue is huge with both indoor and outdoor spaces so it's a year-round affair. The patio is the perfect place to spend a warm summer afternoon, and the side bar or nightclub areas are spacious, cool areas to take in a set indoors. Staff are always attentive and hustling about to ensure everyone is having a great time. The food onsite is also super good - the pulled pork, sweet potatoes and crispy brussels sprouts were favorites on the last visit. read more

It's a large patio with space for lots of people. The music was good, but wayyy too loud. This wasn't originally constructed with having a band in mind, so they just play on a little makeshift stage so close to the tables, and I got a headache from how loud it was. I like how they have these fun steps for children to dance or adults to sit and chat. Its very low key and casual! The food was really pricy. $15 for a very basic Cesar salad. The pork meat was very good!!! The cornbread was dry and hard- prob the worst I've ever had lol. The service is mostly younger folks and no specific assigned seatings for them to work. We had one girl, and she took our drink order, and then 15 minutes late, a younger lad took our food. They were all nice, but the way they just serve anyone can get chaotic. The older male host literally kicked us out. As soon as we paid, a my husband went to use the restroom, and he came over and said, "are you almost done? We need that table soon as we have to start rotating for reservations". We weren't even there for long! There were others who were seated before we arrived. I thought it was rude to kick us out. Overall, I would come again, but there are things they should work on. It's good if you're meeting groups of people here. read more

Fitzgeralds in Berwyn has come a long way! Once a small spot they have now taken over almost a city block between the various enterprises. We attended a patio concert recently and it was great. Small enough to feel personal big enough to have some space. Bonus points for attracting some great talent and keeping prices reasonable. Drinks are worth checking out. The bartenders do a great job mixing and creating. We tried some wings and they were a tasty snack. Staff is super helpful and friendly. Street parking is fairly easy if you get there early. read more

It was a 75 degree night and the indoor venue was not air conditioned or the air was not in service. I felt so sorry for the sweaty band. The heat in the crowded space ruined the night. It's a wonder no one fainted. The outdoor patio was cute. I wished our band was performing outside! read more

Loud kids run around the "patio" parking lot out of control and rudely distract from the show. Be aware. I come to listen to the music and watch performers, not for kiddies. I usually leave early because of this but management encourages kids. It has become a playground, and they even allow dogs. Shame that the atmosphere is unpredictable. We come in pretty regularly during the summer. Great music and good drinks. Family friendly around dinner time. Usually pretty nice servers. The white haired man who handles the reservations and seating is always welcoming, even when we don't have a reservation. There's ways to add to your check to contribute to the band if there's one onstage. Heads up: if you order the $5 double cheeseburger deal on Wednesdays, check the tip amount options when you get your bill. Burger is normally $16 bucks, and they base the tip suggestions on the original price, not the one you paid. So if you order 3 burgers, the calculated tip suggestions are off of $48, not $15. All about good tips for servers, but that calculation is a bit cheeky, so be forewarned. Besides that, a great spot. Love the new covered seating area outside. Lucky that they're only a 10 minute walk away. read more

Came here for my dads birthday and had a great time. They have live music inside and outside. The food was really good, I had brisket and Brussel sprouts along with a kale Cesar salad. I didn't like the salad as it was kind of minty but other than that it was good. The service was good they were busy so the server did the best they could. read more

FitzGeralds almost didn't survive. The owner bought it right before COVID hit, but somehow managed to stay in business. I was here for a Vince Guaraldi brunch last winter. A three piece jazz band played Guaraldi music including, yes, stuff from Peanuts. The food and mimosas were good and the performance was really good too. They have regular shows here in this historic old jazz venue. I need to go back soon. read more

FitzGerald's is iconic. It has seen some of the best live musicians in the country, and still does. There are several stages, some free, some paid. And there are all styles of music too. You definitely need to go see a show here. The food is excellent. Good BBQ, but lots of other things too. Nothing fancy, but very solid. The ambiance is likewise good, but nothing fancy. First and foremost this is a live music venue, but with good food and drinks as a serious bonus. Service can be slow. I get the feeling that they don't have a ton of servers, but they are also trying to not disrupt the musical acts. So, be patient. I'm not too far away, but if this was within walking distance, I'd be here every night. You need to go! read more

5+ star service, food was great, space was great, music was great! We were a bigger party, 7 adults, 7 kids. We were promptly seated in a side patio area, never felt rushed. Our server and everyone helping was so kind and super accommodating. I loved this place and will absolutely return the next time I'm in the area! Came around 5pm with one other person on a Saturday. We didn't have a reservation, but there was plenty of room! We were greeted by a very friendly gentleman at the door who offered to take us to a seat, but we opted for the bar. The signature cocktails are fantastic! They are inventive and well-balanced. I had the Palomino and the Art's Manhattan - I'd for sure recommend both! The food was also SO TASTY! We ordered the smoked wings and the mac and cheese. My only complaint here is that the brisket on the mac was a little overcooked, but that was easily redeemed by how stupid delicious the rest of the dish was. I love coming here on the weekends because they have the best live bands for free. I always sit on the patio because you hear the music best and they are dog friendly. I had the pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Very lean pieces of pork between a flaky, buttery croissant. The fries were very good. The wait staff are all very nice and service is good. Yikes, I'm definitely overdue for reviewing Fitzgerald's! This is a very fun venue with lots of variety as far as entertainment. There are different buildings and nooks that all connect. This includes two indoor stages, one outdoor stage, and their very own BBQ joint called Baby Gold's. ENTERTAINMENT Some of my favorite concerts and events are right here in Berwyn. I have seen Ivan Singh perform here multiple times. He is a Latin Blues artist from Argentina who now opens for Buddy Guy. You will also find him performing at many local Blues Fests. Ivan sings mostly in English, but often times he will treat us to some Spanish songs and transport us back to his homeland. He is incredibly talented and will liven up your evening with his unique musical style. Ivan puts on a fantastic show in the more intimate Side Bar stage (entrance on Clarence). However, in the Summer time, you'll likely find him performing on the outdoor stage where there's quite a bit more seating. Fitzgerald's hosts many outdoor concerts in the Summer months. One of my favorites is a steel band called La Zafra. They are so fun and really give you the amazing tropical vibe we yearn for in Chicago. It's easy to imagine that you're on an island enjoying a piña colada. They play Caribbean and Calypso music, but they mix it up with Pop favorites and other music genres. They are sometimes interactive with the crowd and you might even catch them doing a Conga line with their audience. I was introduced to the Chicago Grandstand Big Band right here at Fitzgerald's. They set up on the larger indoor stage. I've seen them a couple times and each time the audience was encouraged to dance. I love how diverse the age groups are at these concerts, they were mostly 50+. But I enjoyed watching a couple youngsters (probably in their 20s or 30s) swinging around the side dance floor. But I absolutely loved watching the older couples dance like it was in their blood. They were smooth and so romantic! Rico Band also performs here. They are great. They play a lot of Santana music as well as jazz, soul, blues, etc. Definitely try to catch them when you see them on the calendar. You won't be disappointed. St. Patrick's Day - I love celebrating like a Chicago Irish gal. Fitzgerald's puts on St. Patty's Day events every year. Usually it's on the weekend and the day of (3/17), depending on when it lands during the week. The last time I went on St. Patrick's Day, it was during the week and we watched Rico Band perform. I attended a couple times many years ago, but now they charge a $20 entry fee. That's a bit steep compared to what other venues charge. It looks like a great time, but there's too many other good options that are either free or half the price. They have early times that are family friendly, too. The last time I went to this, I was triple charged for a round of drinks. My husband and I noticed it the next day, but got the runaround from management and never succeeded in getting our refund. This was years ago, so it could have even been under different management. And I'll still give them the benefit of the doubt that it was a mistake. FOOD/DRINKS/SERVICE/AMBIANCE I really, really like their jumbo chicken wings! You can order them before the indoor concerts begin or simply go to the BBQ place next door. I've tried their ribs once and was quite disappointed. It might have been an off night because my friend liked them on a different visit. They have a house beer that is really good. I think it's called Baby Gold. It's brewed by Kinslahger Brewery just down the road from them. Definitely give it a try. They also have ciders in case that's your preference...and not just the sweet ones. The service is mostly good. I think they have a great team working for them. They really work hard on those busy nights, so it's good just to be patient. I recently ordered wings for take out and the lady who took my order was quite nice. Note: I'm not sure if it was the lack of beer and daylight, but my jumbo wings seemed smaller and not quite as crispy this time. They were still good though. I absolutely LOVE that they have a fire pit in their beer garden. Fall nights are amazing here. They have a wood pile off to the side, but I think they ask you to pay for the wood now. Hopefully they changed that...because that's just weird. PARKING There's free street parking. On a slow night you'll probably find a spot pretty easily. However, on a busy night, it seems nearly impossible to find parking. I like that Fitzgerald's will sometimes encourage ride-share when they market their bigger events. Check out my pics. Epic BBQ with easy parking around 5-6pm. Full bar, a lovely place to host an event. The old fashions are spot on. The smells are fabulous! Decor, music, ambiance! If you're looking for a country/ southern feel, this is it when it comes to hosting at an intimate / smaller location. The food and service was great! Keep it up guys! On a sidenote, I would've gone with a five star but you guys don't give a pre-warning that another family / event is coming in with enough time prior to put coats on and give a midwestern goodby. OKAY WOW. There was nothing stopping me from coming to see my favorite documentarians speak, not even the possible no parking and rush hour traffic to get to Berwyn. I am shocked, awed, humbled, grateful, etc for the kindness of the staff at Fitzgeralds. Not only from being helpful to two people who are a bit navigationally challenged but also recommending cocktails and telling us about the history of the building. I truly had the loveliest time here and while we missed out on the BBQ by the end of the show, I am already making plans to come back and try some. Also the parking was fine! After 6 there is no longer a 2-hour limit. It's worth it to come out here for the ambience and the service. What a great vibe! read more

While at the Americana music festival I learned that Fitzgerald's offers brunch. So, we gave it a try. Very spacious patio and lots of seating options. Both the food and music was good, not great, but quite enjoyable. The potatoes were the star of the show. The food is priced right and one has the option to voluntarily add a cover charge. Our particular waitress was not great but I noticed all the others seemed to be on top of their jobs. read more

I went to FitzGearld's last week with two of my good friends. We had a lovely time on the patio seeing the Pumpkin drop and a movie. Our server I wish I could remember her name was excellent. She was super friendly and had great recommendations for drinks and food and she made us feel like part of the Berwyn and Oak Park family. The Giant wings and Hush Puppies were both super tasty. And I got the Flannel Shirt cocktail, it was a really good fall drink. We also saw a band perform in the Sidebar which was fun, the lead singer and bad mates were a solid country folk group. read more

Good venue for music, staff was dismissive at times, but also short staffed so I can't fault them too much, but the 2 stars is really earned for the inedible appetizers (the only food we ordered). The pretzels were not pretzels, but passable. The steamed or baked cauliflower was raw, heavy on the stems, with a little hot sauce splashed on for good measure, and the jumbo wings were either fried in expired oil or the meat itself had expired. Visit for the music, but AVOID THE APPS. read more
