So my girlfriend was in town for a funeral and we stumbled across this dive bar gem! It was a little bit before last call. Every everybody in the bar was very warm and welcoming, and Trish the bartender was phenomenal at tending her bar and serving everybody's needs. Visited Mr. C's mid afternoon a couple days ago. Growing up in the midway area, I've never really visited this place. I was greeted by Duane, very friendly person. They got a great selection of beer to choose from but they don't have any wine, hard cider etc. I enjoy where you can sit down and watch your car from the security cameras. They got a pool table, clean restroom, jukebox and it feels like you're in a basement (but in a good way). Prices are very fair ain't much to complain about. Definitely recommend this place. read more

Mr.C's is a fantastic option to the $12 beers at Midway airport. The beer is cheap and the patrons are extremely friendly. One girl made pasta and meatballs and offered it to us. Our dog Daisy loves this bar and so do we. amazing atmosphere. The bartender Mike is lovely and was so enjoyable to hangout with. He treated our shy puppy like a queen. The drinks are perfectly strong and hit just right. The ambiance is truly a Chicago classic and everything we could have asked for during a quick stop. The guy who owns this place, Andy, is a great character. He takes a huge amount of pride in this place and taking care of the customers. It's old, it's a dive, and it's got great drink prices. The people are usually talkative and there is often a good mix of locals and airline employees. You be surprised the brain power in this place and sometimes you end up in a great conversation about distant travels or local politics. It's always a great time. There are photos of yesteryear and the airplanes and pilots that frequented Midway back when it was the busiest airport in the world. You get a history lesson, a good time, and cheap drinks all in one. A good place to hang out for a while. Worth at least one visit. read more

With the advent of 'trendy dive bars', it's really nice to come to a place that was, is, and always WILL be a great dive. Their selections are great. Nothing that you're gonna hold your pinkie up while drinking, but enough stuff so that even if you're not a Miller Lite fan, you'll have options. Nothing too highbrow, but you also won't see hipsters slinging back PBR's. As said before, it's usually a crew of locals here, and most of them are airline employees and police. Careful- YOU WILL MAKE FRIENDS. Douchebaggery is absolutely NOT tolerated here, and will be handled promptly. Grab a drink and meet some folks. Talk to the bartenders, they're all top-notch folks. And if you get too schmammernated there will probably be someone to give you a ride if you live nearby. read more

The local customers were great and what turned into stopping in for a quick drink last night turned into us staying until last call. Atmosphere was very much a true working man's dive bar which I love. Beer and liquor selection were very impressive. I had 3 different beers from local Chicago breweries. Prices were incredible. Didn't pay more than $3 for a beer. There was a small bar fight while I was there which provided some entertainment as well. Highly recommend. read more

A GREAT HOLE IN THE WALL DIVE! This is one of the most fun bars I have been too. Besides the smoke, it is a blast. The clientele is Airline folks, Police, and a gang of regulars. Some random nights are more packed than others, and it is always fun when the music is goin, and drinks are flowin. As far as what to wear, whatever. There is a mix of people getting off work and locals with jeans and Ts. Wear something you wouldn't mind having to wash the next day to get the smoke out of. Andy, the owner, is a great bartender and makes damn good shots. Try the Jaeger Bomb, or Southern Blues, or a Red Headed Slut. Enjoy the good time. read more
