Nice local watering hole, friendly bartender, long bar with TVs, and outdoor patio. Proper poured Guinness.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. "Red" the bartender on duty last night kicked my friend and I out after one drink. When my friend and I first walked in she was clearly upset at the sight of us walking in together. We sat down anyway not thinking anything of it and ordered one drink and I was exhausted I worked 15 hours yesterday and I closed my eyes for a second and she took my drink away. The bartender "Red" was listening to our conversation closely and ended up kicking us out over that. She was really disrespectful and clearly a racist. She ended up calling the police on us for NO REASON and the cops of course didn't help. After making us leave also she locked the door and I couldn't even use the bathroom. We paid for a drink and couldn't even use the restroom. Never coming back here. I've seen people blacked out drunk yelling at others at this bar and the police were never called but when a black woman closes her eyes for a second? She gets kicked out? Gotcha. Def will be contacting the police station as well as a lawyer. read more

I would've given this place 5 stars but i noticed my coasters propping up a table outside. The DISRESPECT! Other than that, a pretty decent place. I would come give Hannah a hard time. Dueces! read more

Staff is great but I go to have one drink and one some after work and then leave. But when some dick w/o a life constantly and purposely skips my one song by fast passing my songs for over an hour. Mahoney's is a great alternative to the 'other' bars on villa. It's a classic Irish pub, long bar with plenty of barstools and some bar table seating in the front of the bar. Can usually find a spot to sit, although on weekends it can get very crowded, and there is not much standing room so it can get claustrophobic. They have a small back patio with a bunch of tables for when it's warm out. Wish they had better speakers outside, but it can be nice to get out and socialize. They have touch tunes, but the majority of the music is rock/punk/metal/rap. A lot of bikers and beards here, but everyone is cool. Single person bathroom is nice, but bathroom line can get long and is in the middle of the bar. Bartenders are really cool and work their butts off, tip them well and they won't forget it. Prices are not the best, but pretty standard for VP. read more

Fourth stop on my VP birthday bar crawl. I was kind of drunk by this point, so I didn't really notice the unwelcoming crowd, as noted by the other review for this place and I don't think my friends mentioned anything either. We went straight to the back of the bar and sat at a high table. I don't remember which beer I had here, but I'm assuming they have an okay selection, since my beer was a draft, and my fiance wouldn't get me a draft if it was a crappy beer. There was some music playing and because I was under the influence of alcohol, I got up and danced with my friend. We were the only ones dancing of course. Then some random guy with only a few teeth came up to us and complemented us on having a good time. Later, Rage Against the Machine was playing, so a few friends and I head banged to that and sang along. I don't think we bothered anyone, but we probably had the most fun that anyone has had there in a while. Some random girl came and jumped in a circle with me and my fiance. Weird, but fun. There's an outdoor area in the back, but I didn't go back there. I'd consider coming back here, especially if I find $8 on the floor like I did that night. Money in the bank! read more

If you are not a regular or a friend of one, it is abundantly clear from both the bartender and the patrons, you are not welcome. I have no problem walking into any bar, on my own, and having a perfectly good conversation. This place does not want, nor does it feel it needs, any new faces. Hard to imagine walking into a Friday happy hour with no friendly faces to share the working week abyss with. My sole purpose to stop there was to have a beer and give it a try before I met a few clients over at the Elks. Won't be going back and sure as heck won't be saying any glowing words about the place! read more

I love this place and have become a regular. The customer service is excellent, the staff is super fun, and the vibe is nice and inviting. This is a nice neighborhood bar to get a drink and kick back for a fun evening. I always have a fun night out when I spend it here and will return again and again. The crowd skewed toward older people and the bartenders are nice. It's a no frills bar that is good for getting drunk. I was with someone who is a regular so my experience was good, but I'm not sure how it would be if you weren't a regular. read more

This bar is my favorite in Villa Park!!!! Although I am a regular and know everyone in there, contrary to the other post on here...EVERYONE is welcome and the staff greets you with open arms!!! Everyone always has a great time there!!!!! read more
