Stopped in to watch the Monday night football game. Small crowd, mostly regulars, and cheap drinks. They only accept cash. Cool thing, the bartender put out some homemade pasta, sauce, bread, dessert and it was free. Not my normal type of place to go, but everyone was friendly. I can say, I have been here, and done that. A fun little "hole in the wall". Ive been here a few times and have always felt welcomed and the regulars will talk to anyone. Very diverse place with different age groups and all walks of life. I am honestly perplexed by what is going on right now at this bar. I came in asking for a Jameson neat, with a pickleback. They keep giving me this pea-sized amount of pickle juice. I asked for more, and they told me they couldn't give it to me because they need it for other drinks and for other people and for other things that are not me. I offered to pay for the whole bottle of pickles, but they would not allow me to do it. She looked at me as if I was crazy. The service here is so bad, it is breathtaking. Horrible service. I understand this is a dive bar, but the establishment is very run down. Expected more from this bar and it did not impress even a little. Bottomline I do not recommend anyone to visit. The owner needs to seriously reevaluate how their employees are running their business - and if it's a problem at the top, even more reason to stay away! The rude waitress would not serve my daughter because she didn't "believe" my daughter was 21 even though she had a valid driver's license AND valid passport. And, of course, she is 21. Truly one of the dive"iest" places I have ever been in. Not that that usually bothers me, because I am the self proclaimed queen of the dive bar. As soon as we walked in the door, everyone just turned around and stared at us like we were carriers of the plague. I understand that it's a neighborhood bar with lots of regulars, but I thought I had just entered into the Twilight Zone. The person I was with was the one who brought up the fact that they had only Miller Light on tap. I guess their Miller High Life tap was broken. So we sat in a far corner of the place, just trying not too stick out too badly. As soon as you got over the patchy, stained carpet, and the ripped up stools, and the overly loud shit kicker music (I love country- but it needed to be turned down-big time), it really wasn't all that bad. They had a pinball machine, a dart board, and a couple of pool tables ( I have a feeling many a pool cue had been broken over heads here). The bartender was really nice though. I think I need to go here a few more times, so I become at least vaguely familiar to staff and patrons. But any dive bar is good, so I'll try again. Addendum, as of 7/30/07 I have now been in here enough to consider myself a regular. And it is now my absolute fave! read more

I am not a regular at this place, but if I was an alcoholic in Bolingbrook I would probably die here. You cannot beat the prices and the atmosphere if you are a heavy drinker. This place has it all. I'll tell you what, if I get in an argument with the wife and need a place to tie one off, this is the place to go. In all seriousness, this is plain and simple a neighborhood pub. Non regulars are welcomed, you can have good conversations, and drink a lot for cheap. read more

Cheap drinks my ass, I had one drink and beer, gave the barkeep a twenty got back dollar fifty cent in change. Don't charge more because of the color of a person's skin. But I will say the people who were there were friendly and in fact tipped me off to the overcharge. read more

This place is a dump ! The service is terrible. Was there on my birthday and there was 4 peolple in the bar and waited 30 minutes to try to get a drink because the bartender was too busy talking to her friends. After 3 attempts to ask for a beer and was ignored i just left. I would never go there again.Also the bathrooms are very dirty. Do not touch anything in there. read more

We're not regulars at this place by any means. We stopped in one time and it wasn't crowded, the beer is cheap and it does the job. The bartender was awesome. We've showed up a couple times during birthdays with about 5-8 people, partied, didn't bother anyone and had a blast. When we went it happened to be a regulars birthday and a dude dressed up as underdog, totally random but it was so awesome. read more

I've been to Clem's twice now and both times were fun! The staff is friendly (even when its busy) and the other people at the bar seemed nice and were also enjoying themselves. It is a cash only bar which wasn't a big deal for me, plus they have an ATM inside for people that have cards. Drinks were cheap, music was upbeat and the crowd wasn't rowdy. I really wanted to like this place. After driving past it for years, I decided to finally stop in and give it a try. Too bad I never had the chance. I showed the bartender my driver's license and she laughed and said "this totally isn't you". I was shocked. I have never owned a fake ID in my life and I have certainly never been accused of using one. I showed her 2 more forms of identification and she still didn't think it was me. I understand that I was wearing a little makeup today and I wasn't wearing any in my ID pictures, but gosh, a little foundation and mascara doesn't make a person unrecognizable. I even felt inclined to ask my friends if I really looked that different in the photos without makeup and today with makeup. They all agreed that I looked the same. I just can't believe this happened to me. I've never even used yelp before, but I was so upset over this experience that I felt compelled to make an account and share it. All in all, this could have possibly been a decent establishment, but I will never know. I just hope that the bartender is able to learn the difference between a fake ID and a real one. That is part of her job after all. read more
