Screech gufo a delicious hazy ipa that's hard to beat!

If I can give ten stars I would !! I love coming here with my future mother-in-law as it is only 7 min drive from her place!! They have the best draft beers on tap and always warm and welcoming! I pretty much stop here every time I am in downers grove! In about a week I shall get someone a special Xmas gift here that will be an annual membership for the entire year of 2025 .so that someone will have more prestige and recognition when she visits! Thanks to Adam and Walter for making this place professional and fun. Also Amy at the bar is a real sweetheart! They have events all the time with snacks like pretzel and cheese bites to go with the craft beer!

Great space and a wide variety of beers, even for a smaller quantity of tap handles (having 24 beers doesn't help places, when 16 are Hazy IPAs). Staff is always friendly and the vibe is relaxed.

Had the chance to check out skeleton brewery yesterday!! And let me say, what a cool freaking spot!! The inside is super cute and modern. We went on a Saturday night and it had a good amount of people but, not too crowded. The vibe was super chill and relaxed. There were people of all age groups so definitely a very good place to just grab a drink after work, go on a weekend, or meet up with friends! We are not huge beer drinkers but wanted to try it out because we did hear great things about the variety at this brewery. Ended up getting 3-4 different kinds of beers but the crested gufo beer was def our favorite! It was so light and refreshing! Would definitely get it again! Overall, really good experience for the first time!! We would definitely go back again!

This microbrewery on Lemont Rd in Woodridge has a cool name.....but a really lame exterior! Spruce up the building a bit guys

ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK LAGER? This beer-only establishment has scary good stouts and ales so pale, you'd swear they were ghosts. As one of the major microbreweries in the area (the other being Miskatonic off of Cass Ave), this place is hidden pretty well. Unless you know to look on the west side of Lemont Rd about 1/2-mile south of 75th St, you're likely to drive right past Skeleton Key. Meeting my buddy Jason K on 4/27/19, I quickly noticed that this doesn't look like anything special from the outside; it's a very plain, nondescript red brick building. No exploding neon marquee with showgirls out front, just a little sign for the small industrial complex. Right away, you can tell that the space was intended for offices, not a brewery. Several large 300L stainless steel tanks loom in the back, and a friendly -- possibly mustachioed -- barkeep will pour your choice of frothy beverage. They rotate their taps seasonally, I'm told. We enjoyed an American Pale Ale, English brown ale, and an imperial red Belgian IPA, all with amusing names like "Friends Don't Lie", "Fix the Sun", and "Mayor Wilson", which I'm assuming is a BTTF reference. Prices are a reasonable $6-7 depending on size/style of draft. There's no kitchen to speak of, however they're more than happy to let you bring in food or have it delivered. Sometimes there's even a food truck parked outside, though on our visit inclement weather forced the pierogi guys to sell their wares indoors. It's nice that they have a shelf of card games for customers to play. The table next to us got into a heated match of Risk; I could definitely see coming back here with a deck of Secret Hitler or a good old fashioned cheater's edition of Monopoly. Kids are allowed in the front room during daylight hours, great for families or thirsty parents. Seeing toddlers running around took me out of the whole brewery experience, if I'm being honest. Dogs are strictly 'verboten', unlike Beer Shop's pet-friendly policy in Oak Park. SK also features live music on alternating weekends. I was stunned to see that one of these acoustic performers is none other than Mr Denton, my (former) junior high school language arts teacher! I'm gonna have to stop by and say hello next time Billy D takes the stage. * TL;DR * You don't have to be a member of the Midnight Society to enjoy a cold brew here......although the creepy campfire stories might spice things up. The beer is great and service is dandy, plus the BYO snack policy means you're saving some $$. The wide open, repurposed interior is all well and good, but the exterior is seriously bleak. Improving their curb appeal would do wonders to pull in more business, cuz right now Skeleton Key Brewery is relying pretty heavily on word-of-mouth. Recommended!

The beer was good and trivia night here was fun. They had a few golden ales, an IPA, lager and a stout when I was there. There was a vendor selling cute handmade key chains of different characters. They don't have food inside, but there was a food truck outside. The building just looks like a plain warehouse on the outside. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . Whiskey Hill is a funny name, as this place has beer, not whiskey. Oh well, what they have is still good. There's a pretty good selection including some hoppy and sours. A lot of breweries are in kind of strange areas. It's the case with this one. This is located on Vandustrial in a building it share with some offices and whatever. Lots of trucking companies around here. There's semis parked along the street. Anyway, the beers. It's about $6 a pour. It's not quite a pint but whatever. Even so, a pretty good price for a small brewery. Has many to choose from. Best was the 7 Mile Bridge. It's a Belgian Weisse with key lime, toasted coconut, and vanilla. A lot of lime flavor. This is almost like a sour to be honest. A pretty strong one at 7% ABV. There's not a whole lot on tap, but they manage to have quite a bit for a microbrewery to be honest. Get some beers on tap or take some of the cans to go. It's a small place but when it's warmer they have a patio. There's no food but sometimes there's food trucks.

At some point while bookmarking breweries I was willing to put down anything ranging from the good,…read morethe bad and the ugly. I won't elaborate too much on that but it goes without saying that Pabst is a company I don't usually drink beer from. It's been around a long time and is known to be cheap beer when the need for consuming it arises and there is concern about breaking the bank. I have had Pabst Blue Ribbon a handful of times, recently tried it again and pretty much reached the conclusion as before with it. It's very corporate made beer and not the craft kind at all where ideally the beer is made with love. That's where my preferences lie when it comes to beer. For Pabst Blue Ribbon Extra which I had recently the flavors in the beer are malty, sweet, grainy and apparently strong. I can walk away knowing I tasted some of those flavor features but I didn't get the impression of strength there. The body of it is smooth. This beer is considered a lager and maybe that also is where the disappointment lies as lagers is a beer type I often pick but this particular lager is a challenge to really get into.

They have a lot of board games to borrow, pinball machines and multiple TVs usually playing some live sports. The best part about this place though is the staff - we've met the owner a few times when we're in, and have a favorite bartender who always seems to be here when we come. They are absolutely incredible and seem like just good people. For those who become regulars, the Draft Class membership is definitely worth it if you can snag one!

NINETY-NINE BOTTLES OF BEER ON THE WALL…read more This bottle shop in downtown Downers Grove has a myriad of craft options. Prior to last weekend, every time I walked past Orange & Brew the lights were still off (they don't open until noon) so I had no choice but to peer longingly thru the windows into a dark business. I finally stopped in during normal hours with the family in tow on the first Saturday in August. I got a mix-and-match 4pk of IPAs + pilsners for my dad, who has oft complained about the lack of decent brewskis at my house. Well Opa, now you've got a quartet of 16oz craft cans to pick from, so no more grumbling about "only shitty light beer" in the downstairs fridge! They have a large cooler for people to take beer to-go. My wife grabbed a 4pk of rosé hard cider ($13) which she later claimed tasted too much like kombucha. I found it refreshing, like a Woodchuck or Strongbow with a gorgeous deep purple hue. Of course I had to play their four pinball tables on the left side ($1 per game). They had a Stranger Things (with snazzy UV kit upgrade!), Deadpool, 007, and Rick & Morty. The first three are newer Sterns that play decently, but R&M is a strange design from Spooky Pinball that I've yet to figure out. * TL;DR * Take one down, pass it around.....that'll be $6, please! Orange & Brew shares plenty of similarities with Beer Shop in Oak Park: brews on tap, assorted brews in bottles on a shelf, and a fridge full of cold brews to take home. The biggest difference is that O&B has pinball tables, and that bumps them up a star. The guy behind the counter who tapped my beer didn't smile (or even say thanks) when we cashed out. I got the feeling he was apprehensive about my wife and I bringing our 4yo & 1yo kids in here, probably afraid they'd crack open and chug a beer without paying. But seriously, they were very well behaved. If I'm in the area and Orange & Brew is open, I'm definitely stopping in for a cold pint and a few games of pinball. Check them out!
