Beers

Checked out this bar in Downers Grove. It has a good location downtown convenient to parking and public transportation. Orange & Brew has tons of beers to choose from whether drinking here or taking out with you. About all of these are local. The prices are pretty good on most stuff. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Bar is a popular place to watch University of Illinois games.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's owned by alumni, as you can tell by the play on the colors in the name. The beers are still the main thing, and there's tons. Has quite a few on tap if having some here. It's about $7 a pint. A lot from close by breweries and others that are in the Chicago area. There's also tons of cans if you want to get some for later. Everyone can find a beer they like and have some here before buying. It's located on Burlington Avenue at Main. This is conveniently located by the Metra station so you can get your drink on and then get on a train.

Beer wall and merch!! Perfect for any alum

Such a fantastic bar! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very friendly staff, beautifully decorated space - I graduated a year ago from UIUC and feel like home when I'm here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Love the ever changing options on draft. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The memorabilia is a nice touch![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would 100% recommend for a relaxing, nostalgic night

No frills but they do what they set out to do.

If you're just plain ole' thirsty, this is a good stop. Decided to try this place while waiting for a friend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To me, it's the fusion of a small, very no frills local liquor store and small, very no frills local bar, not pub, but plain ole', good ole' Chicago-style neighborhood bar that used to pepper closer in neighborhoods, but updated feel with large storefront windows--a definite departure from old-school style neighborhood bars[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It is located in the heart of downtown. The Tender was friendly and the patrons talkative. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is never jammed but consistently busy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Also, don't come here looking for gastro pub cuisine--just basically good beer--and pretzels (nice variety of pretzels but pretzels nonetheless). [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outdoor seating is a nice amenity for warmer months and it seems to be well used.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The product for purchase is formidable and deep, behind the bar and on the shelves, with a variety of styles you can actually buy by the can--and they are all in cans on the shelves now with a few exceptions. If you are just an "enjoyer" or more toward connoisseur, you should be able to find something to suit your taste and mood, from old school favorites to sophisticated craft options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place is a very, very solid three star and that is no shade--they nail what they are going for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, if you're hankerin' for a brew, stop in and make a friend.

A great selection of beers and some wonderful options on tap as well. If your looking to find something unique as a gift, this is a good place to make a 4-pk of different beers. The fellas at the counter can help you with suggestions, but don't go overboard and watch the price per can even tho if you bought the same beer in multiples, it would not cost any more or less. So no deal on singles it's just a convenient option. But I've learned not all breweries allow this and really, if you go to a big store to buy beer you can only get a slim option vs here where almost every beer can be bought individually. We had a great beer from Miskatonic and Hop Butcher while sitting outside on the patio. And some nice bread sticks to snack on while we drank. If there is ever a way to partner with the neighboring cafe for food, that would be a great option to have food to go with the beer. Luckily I got the last 4 pk of the Miskatonic Unified Field Theory brew I had on tap. Please just get a knowledge female bartender and this wouldn't feel like a boys club. We were told the owners wife steps up to work occasionally. Women drink beer too.

Cool little space to hang out, have a drink, play board games or pick up a quick 4-pack of craft beer. They offer prepackaged artisan cheese flight for $12 if you're looking for something to snack on while you are here. The Alpha morning sun with black truffle was very good. Easy parking on the street or in the parking lot. ....| \ _ , , , - - , , _ , .../ , ` . - ' ` ' . _ \ - ; ; ; , _ ..| , a - ) ) _ . ; . ( ` - ` - ' - ' ' - - - ' ' ( _ / . _ ) - ' ( _ \ _ ) 2020

Whiskey Hill is a funny name, as this place has beer, not whiskey. Oh well, what they have is still good. There's a pretty good selection including some hoppy and sours. A lot of breweries are in kind of strange areas. It's the case with this one. This is located on Vandustrial in a building it share with some offices and whatever. Lots of trucking companies around here. There's semis parked along the street. Anyway, the beers. It's about $6 a pour. It's not quite a pint but whatever. Even so, a pretty good price for a small brewery. Has many to choose from. Best was the 7 Mile Bridge. It's a Belgian Weisse with key lime, toasted coconut, and vanilla. A lot of lime flavor. This is almost like a sour to be honest. A pretty strong one at 7% ABV. There's not a whole lot on tap, but they manage to have quite a bit for a microbrewery to be honest. Get some beers on tap or take some of the cans to go. It's a small place but when it's warmer they have a patio. There's no food but sometimes there's food trucks.

Bottom Line: Good place to start the evening…read more This spot is good for opening the evening before heading to one of the many nearby dinner destinations. The indoor space is long and narrow, with an eclectic, warm vibe, lined with display bottle and can-filled shelving. There are several tables along the display wall that seat four comfortably, with a compact bar tucked toward the front. Don't come here looking for a quiet corner though. The place fills up quickly--especially Thursday through Saturday nights during sidewalk‑dining weather where the crowd spills out into the covered entry and sidewalk. The clientele skews upscale and once they settle in, tables tend to turn slowly. Also, the noise level often rises to the point where conversation requires a raised voice. Wine and appetizers are this place's wheelhouse. I agree with other reviewers that service can lag, especially when you're trying to get that first order in. The charcuterie is a reliable favorite, with the rest of the menu at least decent if not particularly memorable. The wine and beer offerings are broad enough to satisfy most tastes, though some reviewers' claims of "reasonable prices" depend heavily on your definition of reasonable--lingering over drinks and appetizers will leave a very noticeable dent in the ole' wallet. Though I don't feel It's the kind of place I'll likely make a weekly habit, it is a good starter spot for a date night or a meet‑up before moving on to a dinner place.

All the crusts are cauliflower crust, and I am not GF so while I wouldn't have picked this normally, it was SOOO yummy. I wouldn't have even known it was cauliflower crust! The flavors were great too. We also had a super tasty grilled cheese with bacon and the star... jalapeno jam! Loved it all and can't wait to come back on a future date night!

My service dog, Cooper, officially passed his service dog certification, so we wanted to celebrate. As it turned out, we accidentally picked the perfect day, it was Goldfinger's 6th anniversary. Between the outdoor tents, live music, food trucks, and everyone enjoying themselves, the place had an incredible energy. It felt like a big block party without feeling overcrowded or chaotic. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They made great beer recommendations, welcomed us right away, and even brought Cooper a bowl of water without us having to ask. As any dog owner knows, the quickest way to our hearts is by treating our four-legged sidekick like family. Watching Cooper happily soaking up all the attention on such a big day for him made the experience even more memorable. The beer was excellent, the atmosphere was exactly what you'd hope for from a neighborhood brewery, and the whole place just had that genuine, welcoming vibe that makes you want to come back. It may have taken me six years to finally stop in, but I can promise it won't take me that long to visit again. Cheers to six years, Goldfinger and thanks for helping make Cooper's big day one we'll both remember.
