We have been to Elmer's three times in the last few weeks and every experience has been wonderful. I started out with the Looking For Sun Omelet because it looked so good on the website. I enjoyed it; but, the next time I will ask for more avocado. The second time, I did not see anything on the menu that caught my attention. I asked the waitress and she built a meal to my specifications. She told me that her machine had all kinds of options, just ask her. This last time I ordered The Ranch Breakfast with pork sausage links. The over-medium eggs were perfectly preparing. The fruit cup contained bananas, strawberries, and grapes. All three times, the service was excellent. BTW, my wife's breakfast bowl looked so good that I will order it at our next visit. Food was fine--just basic. I think I had hyped up Elmer's Restaurant because I'm so used to going to the Elmer's Restaurant location. I love their German Pancake there. When we got seated, I asked the server about it, and he basically said they do have it, but it hasn't been coming out big and fluffy lately. He suggested the crepes instead since they're somewhat similar. That was disappointing. I had been telling my cousin how amazing the German Pancakes are, so finding out that even if I ordered one it probably wouldn't turn out right was frustrating. In the end, it felt like I wasted the trip going into Bend when I could have just made a German Pancake at home. The crepe was fine, but I've definitely had better. The rest of the breakfast food is pretty basic--honestly, it's all stuff I could easily make myself, and I wish I had. The only reason I really went to Elmer's was for the German Pancake. read more

Went to Elmer's with my family on Sunday, we visit quite often. This time was just.... Different . Our server was so kind and attentive. She interacted with the kids which was really kind! Don't get me wrong , everyone is great. Tia just has a warm heart and it shows. We felt like we were visiting her home and it wasn't a her job , is the best way I can explain it. My wife and I ate breakfast there. She ordered crepes that came with lingonberry with cold unmelted butter, which didn't melt. The crepes were lukewarm, which weren't hot enough to melt the butter. The crepes were delicious and she enjoyed them. I ordered the bacon and egg, hash browns breakfast with a biscuit. The bacon and eggs were delicious, but the hash browns weren't fully cooked. The manager came to our table and we discussed our meal with us. He apologized and explained how the meal was prepared. We were given a meal certificate for our next meal there. We decided to return to try another meal prior to the manager coming to our table. read more

I grew up in Portland and loved Elmer's. When we moved to Central Oregon we made frequent stops at Elmer's in Gresham; always had great service, plates divided when we shared things, beautifully clean restrooms and the German pancakes were reliable. When they opened Elmer's in Bend we were very excited. We visited a few months after they opened and were told they were out of German pancake batter and one oven wasn't working. It was only mid morning. "strike one," We returned today 7/16/26 and ordered the fresh fruit German pancake to split. It took 40 minutes to get our food, first the eggs and bacon because we were told the kitchen staff was short and the German pancake would be out in 3 more minutes. The pancake came out not divided on the same plate with only the strawberry compote on top, missing the blueberries and bananas. "Strike two" for the German pancake experience. We also asked for our bacon to be cooked extra crisp and it came out floppy. Our server was very, very nice about apologizing about things and we noticed all the other servers were doing the same thing. It is horrible to put your entire wait staff in the position of needing to apologize for things that are out of their control. I used the restroom and the floors were dirty, waste bin overflowing and the front door to the waste bin was hanging open. I see from other reviews German pancakes at this location seem to be problematic. Too bad since this is one of their signature dishes. Unfortunately the long wait for food and other issues will prevent us from trying this Elmer's again for quite some time. No need for "strike three." read more

I really like the Elmer's restaurants I've eaten at in other areas and was excited to try Bend's new Elmer's restaurant. So after Elmer's being open for about a month we went in for dinner. I've been wanting the German lemon pancake and ordered it but they were out...disappointed. My husband ordered a beef dip and they were also out of that! We decided to try Elmers again and this time I ordered and received a German pancake but regretfully, it was cold, so cold the butter wouldn't even melt and the pancake was rather tough. Really disappointed! No, I didn't tell the waiter, he looked a little grumpy, like he really didn't want to be at work that evening. Probably won't go back for a long time! read more

Oh man don't do it! I was so excited to have an Elmers here in Bend.. in their defense it was pretty busy but my husbands order was wrong. He ordered the big rancher breakfast that was supposed to have all the meats and he got brought just bacon. They didn't charge him for the ranchers tho so that was a positive. I got the pancake combo. Pancakes were cold butter was cold and rock hard so wouldn't spread at all,eggs were not cooked all the way and pretty watery and bacon looked like one of the pieces was raw the waitresses were running their little butts off and they were working hard so the stars are for them. Took a while but the waitress brought me the German pancake I ordered but the others didn't get their order. No better than the shari's it replaced, and that was not good. We went there twice, once for lunch and then for breakfast. The staff was friendly but not very well trained. We were seated between 2 tables of screaming kids when there were many other tables available. Nothing we ordered was good enough to finish, certainly not to come back for, not even the coffee. The price was exceptionally high for simple food. We won't go back. There are much better places to eat for the money or even half the money. read more

I have had EXCELLENT food at Elmer's in Portland during several visits. I had high hopes for Elmer's of Bend. I realize it is new and thus would have teething problems, so I waited. Two issues quickly became apparent: My order was wrong and the prices were simply out of control. I ordered a specific egg dish on the menu and pointed it out twice to the waitress, but was delivered a dish that was opposite of my order. I had to send it back. The waitress was kind and took care of the issue. The second issue was the cost. This is set by corporate, but I can tell you that nearly every dish I saw was priced at $18.00 - $23.00+ and that was the breakfast items alone. Add drinks or any additional item and the cost was now approaching $30.00. If I bring my wife, we are now at $55.00+ for a single breakfast meal. I notice that the manager on this website is quick to made amends on these errors, which is positive. But it is clear that more training is needed. Further, based on the cost for what is a standard breakfast, this exceeds well above what I have paid at iHop or Denny's during travels. I will not be returning to Elmer's in the near future. read more

I'm giving this restaurant a 4 for service and their unique breakfast offerings. We did go at a time of day where we knew it wouldn't be packed (like anytime during the morning). I ordered a peach "mimosa" which infers a sparkling wine. There were no bubbles and the "peach" was likely from a jar, so not real good. The biscuit was good, and the hash browns awesome. I got the "stuffed hash browns" dish and it wasn't bad, just too much for me. The sausage gravy was bland and thin, but ok. I've not been able to find GOOD sausage biscuits and gravy in this town after 2 months of being here and around 6 breakfast places. But again, everything else was decent and our server was very sweet and proficient at her job. The price was about on par with every other overpriced restaurant here in Bend. I also liked that their menu wasn't overwhelming; they know what they are good at and they stick to it. From the east coast- I knew I had to try this place just once. read more

We (8 of us) must have gone at the right time 9:00 am on a Tuesday. The hostess was most gracious and arranged the tables for us to be together. Everyone enjoyed their menu items. Heard only one complaint -- the person who ordered the crab Benedict found a few small shells. I had the bacon, eggs, biscuit/gravy. hash brown combination. I was able to substitute fruit for the hash browns. The server brought the gravy on the side for me. Eggs done just right as well as the bacon. Generous portions. Coffee was frequently re-filled and I was able to have milk rather than 1/2 & 1/2 for my coffee. Would definitely return. read more

Proof people only come here to leave bad reviews because we've eaten at Elmer's three times (family of six) since they have opened here in Bend and each time, it was fantastic. The service is great, very nice employees that greet with a smile and kept my coffee and water refilled. The food is always good (chorizo eggs benedict has been my favorite so far, though their Rueben sandwich is great too). It's not fancy, which is the point, but it is good and hearty and excellent portions... bonus points for having honey on the table with their jams. It's exactly what you want it to be and we'll keep going back. read more
