Went for breakfast as the reviews said it was just what we were looking for. There was a 45 minute wait, but we were in no rush so we we were not upset about it. Seems like no one else was either. It's expected here that if you want the benefit of the food..you have to wait. They didn't not disappoint. Husband ordered the Irish Benedict with homemade hash and I ordered it with canned hash. Both were delicious. The portions are enormous. We shared two slices of banana nut French Toast. That was heaven. The staff were overworked and clearly busting their butts but they were all smiling and happy. It's expensive for a diner, $50 for the 2 of us with tip but the food was really good. What a find ! A great local cafe. Hidden in the back of a big brick building, the Elm Centre Cafe is crowded with locals. We had excellent food. My roommate and I got some bagel sandwiches. Not really something that's gonna be anything different from normal. WRONG. These bagel sandwiches were the BEST breakfast sandwiches I have ever had the pleasure of consuming. The everything bagel was soft and flavorful unlike the typical chewy feeling of a bagel. I was shocked when I came back recently and saw that the prices were insanely expensive compared to what they used to be, and honestly a big indignant. First timer and completely amazed!!! Sunday morning brunch; outside dining was full but had a comfy booth inside. Staff was friendly and welcoming, we felt like they truly were happy to have us. Very Big disappointment today !!!! They don't answer their phone. The message machine is full Depending on who you know they tell u they r out of specials but let their friends order them we waited in line to reordered n was told it would be over an hour wait For takeout Since they were only serving outside -but the tables out side were not even full we had ordered earlier in the morning n was returning to order again we've eaten here quite a lot and we love the line cooking staff and some of the regular waitresses but today was a big disappointment w the cashier /hostess Don't tell us that you're run out of specials over a hour ago when you've taken orders w friends in front of us while we were waiting in line and answering the phone for friends checking caller ID Hopefully on Monday when things get back to normal we can come back and deal with the regular staff n be treated w respect read more

Portions are generous and they have the best tasting biscuits and gravy I've had in the Sturbridge area and I've been to all the good breakfast places within a 30 mile radius. I wish I knew where to start. This Cafe is a gem in the town of south bridge. The place is clean, every server was incredibly friendly. The food was amazing and also incredibly affordable. Every food item came out fast and fresh as well. I've been to A-lot of Cafes and diners and this is by far one of the best. I wouldn't change a thing. I was amazed by their service, as every employee was beyond friendly and very attentive to their guests. Their menu has great options too. This establishment really feels like home. The Elm Centre Cafe is an amazing local diner in Southbridge Mass. As mentioned in other reviews, it IS very hard to find, but SO SO worth it. The best tip I can give, is that you have to turn into the parking lot for a municipal building to find it, it is not visible from the road. Stopped here after a weary night of driving through an ice storm on our way to NYC for the holidays. It was an icy/slushy gray morning, but once we walked through the doors of the Elm Centre Cafe, all of that was forgotten. They have counter service, tables and super comfy booths. They have a ton of breakfast choices. In our group we ordered a western omelet (awesome), the house made corned beef hash (super good, made in the style of the canned classic but much much better), poached eggs on pumpernickel (perfectly cooked), a blueberry fatcake (so good, and HUGE) and a side of homefries (expertly prepared). The coffee was hot and bottomless and the staff was SUPER friendly. While I would say that the menus is extremely varied, What set this diner apart from others in my opinion, is the skill of the chef working the grill. Basic breakfast staples were cooked with a fine touch, it was clear the cooks here really know what they are doing. All four people in my party absolutely loved this diner, we all wished we lived closer and could become regulars. read more

We've all heard of hidden gems. This place is simply hidden. Located in the rear of a building across the street from the firehouse there are no signs from the street directing you in. You simply pull into the parking lot for Town Hall and look to your left. they must be doing something right as there were quite a few people here when we walked in around 9:30. We walked into a surprisingly large and very clean dining room. We sat down at a booth and the menus were right there in front of us under the glass table top. The staff was quite friendly, even had a cup full of crayons and a coloring book for Baby B. I kept it simple, opting for scrambled eggs with bacon, home fries and rye toast. I very seldom give a place 5 stars. The owner and chef is very nice. The portions are enough for 2 meals. Prices are great! Staff are very friendly. The food is delicious . It is usually packed to the brim. Only thing I miss is the delivery they did during covid. The restaurant is clean and with the business they do, I can see where they wouldn't have time to take orders for delivery. Limited hours open but are open early. Was in town again for a few days. This place has potential, with decent food. But for a place with a lot of regulars the staff seems pretty dysfunctional. From " please wait to be seated" and the waitstaff ignores you, so we seated ourselves. To having to eat without my wife being served yet, or wait for my meal to get cold. Then she ate her meal once I was already done. Everyone knows everyone, so they do have some experience. Not sure where the brakedown is. Will keep it in mind as a back up. read more

If I tell him were going to breakfast he immediately asks, "Elm Centre??" Lol, yup where else! I love the oatmeal french toast but the pancakes are amazing as well, HUGE but amazing. Prices are a little steep but who's aren't?! My only complaint would be the waitresses, I find some of them to be a little crude and very much your typical diner waitress. Nice quaint and clean breakfast place in the center of Southbridge. Ordered the egg white omlet with spinach and feta, hash browns and side of bacon. Service was pleasant and fast with a smile.
