I have had multiple disappointing experiences with Q-Look, both with their PARTY VENUE RENTAL and…read moreALTERATION SERVICES. Unfortunately, the problems have been consistent enough that I feel compelled to share my experience.
1. PARTY VENUE RENTAL
Q-Look has a party venue located in the back of their establishment that customers can rent for events. I've attended multiple events there as a guest, including baby showers, birthday parties, and engagement parties. Unfortunately, Q-Look has consistently failed to deliver on its promised decorations and overall venue experience.
Most recently, I attended an engagement party as a bridesmaid. The decorations Q-Look promised looked nothing like the bride's vision or the reference photos she provided. The stage decorations weren't even completed until approximately 3:30 PM, despite guests beginning to arrive at 2 PM. The final result looked tacky, poorly executed, and incredibly rushed, with visible tape and sloppy details throughout.
The cleanliness of the venue was another major issue. The bridal party arrived at 10 AM to set up the decorations and arrange the tables. Upon arrival, we found:
- Extremely dusty surfaces and dirty, grimy floors.
- An unsanitary bar cart that appeared not to have been cleaned after its previous use.
- Tables with exposed staples sticking out, creating a potential safety hazard.
- A hallway cluttered with miscellaneous Q-Look items and trash.
The hallway was specifically discussed as an area that would be cleaned and prepared for buffet-style food service. However, nothing had been done. The bridal party had to clean the venue and hallway ourselves before we could proceed with setup.
Even the bathrooms were inadequately stocked. There was only one bottle of hand soap per bathrooms, and it was completely empty halfway through the event.
Communication with the owner was equally frustrating. We raised these concerns directly, but the response was repeatedly some variation of "We'll take care of it." Unfortunately, the promised actions never materialized, leaving the bridal party to handle the problems ourselves.
One more thing to be aware of: Even if you pay a cleaning fee, you are still expected to clean the venue yourself. Based on our experience, the cleaning fee only covers Q-Look taking away your trash to the dumpster. You are still responsible for gathering and bagging the trash, picking everything up, and sweeping the floors.
For a venue rental, the lack of cleanliness, poor communication, and failure to deliver on promised services were extremely disappointing.
2. ALTERATION SERVICES
I was told Q-Look offers alterations for áo dài (traditional Vietnamese dresses), so I brought in my bridesmaid áo dài to have it taken in.
When I received the dress back, I was extremely disappointed with the workmanship. The alterations looked rushed and poorly finished:
- The inseam stitching was uneven and not straight.
- The fabric cuts were crooked.
- Certain sections were not properly sewn.
- Excess fabric was left behind instead of being trimmed.
- Loose threads were visible throughout the garment.
- I also found a copper-colored stain, which I suspect may have come from rusted safety pins.
Overall, the quality of the alterations was unacceptable. The dress looked like very little care or attention had been put into the work. Honestly, with my basic knowledge of using a sewing machine, I feel I could have done a better job myself.
I can only imagine how much more upsetting this would have been if it were my actual wedding dress.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Between the disappointing event decorations, unsanitary venue conditions, poor communication, unexpected cleaning responsibilities, and subpar alteration work, my experiences with Q-Look have been consistently negative.
I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for both event venue rentals and clothing alterations. Save yourself the frustration, time, and money.
