I recently purchased my dress at Penny Jane Bridal and so far have nothing but positive things to say about Deryn (the shop owner) and the shop itself. I don't have prior wedding dress shopping experience, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. But, Deryn has made my personal experience as smooth and stress free as possible. Pro: you are allowed to bring wine, cheese, etc. whatever you want, to the appointment, which was awesome, and we did. Con: you might drink too much, not get ANY good pictures of the dress and then wake up the next morning wondering what you just spent $1000 on and call Deryn in a panic. Pro: Deryn will say "I haven't ordered the dress yet; don't worry! You can come back and put your deposit towards a different dress if you want. My goal is for you to be happy!" Con: You will then have to come back and be forced to make a decision and realize that you made the right decision and wasted Deryns time coming back two more times to be sure you did. Pro: She is still gracious about it and will insist that you did not waste anyone's time and give you a hug.
If you are looking for a personalized shopping experience from beginning to end, this shop is for you. My family was welcome in the store and we all tried things on (including my 10 year old niece, who didn't *really* fit into anything, and my sister, who wasn't *really* shopping for a wedding dress). With all the opinions, I was unsure at first and just needed some time to think for myself. I went to a few off the rack places and can say that PJB made the process of trying on dresses SO much easier. I still have a few decisions to make, but I can't imagine having to go through this process at a less personal place and am grateful to have Deryn by my side throughout the process. I can't wait to go back and see my dress when it's all done and I look forward to being a part of the Penny Jane family! read more
