If I could leave no stars at all, I would. This was a terrible experience, and the way this business is run is completely unacceptable. I went in to have my son's blazer tailored. As soon as my son tried it on, the owner immediately dismissed the idea of tailoring it. Instead, he told my son--a teenager--that the blazer didn't look good on him, that it was too big, and that it didn't fit right. That was not only unnecessary, but also inappropriate. We didn't come in for his opinion on the appearance--we came for tailoring services. The owner refused to listen to what we actually wanted done and was very dismissive throughout the interaction. He claimed the alterations would be "too much" without even properly discussing options. He then started putting together what seemed like random, inflated prices on a calculator. At that point, we decided to leave because of how poorly the situation was handled. As we stepped outside, the owner followed us out and yelled, "You're mean and stupid." His behavior was aggressive and completely unprofessional. We felt uncomfortable and threatened. After I thought about it, I should have called the police. There is likely footage from nearby cameras as well. I also want to mention we were not rude, and we were very polite. **Careful everyone the owner will make a response and claim such things never happened at his establishment, like I just made up the whole thing for the hell of it, I would never write a bad review on someones establishment if it wasn't true!!** read more

A beautiful linen sport coat sat in my closet, untailored for 8 years. With a wedding coming up in September, it seemed the perfect jacket to wear. It needed to have the sleeves shortened, some buttons moved and be taken in under the arms. The work was done beautifully. Real quality work and excellent value for the money. It's truly unfortunate to read all of these wonderful reviews on here, but to have had the complete opposite experience myself. I had previously spoken with a woman on the phone who was absolutely incredible in assisting me and she said she was able to do everything that I wanted done to my wedding dress. I'm sad that I don't remember her name because SHE was great. I walked in yesterday to get a quote and an incredibly rude man, whom I found out was the owner of the place, and he did nothing but talk over me and fat shame me. I was in there to talk about my beautiful wedding dress and to get it ready for October. From the moment I walked in, the owner didn't listen to anything that I said and treated me like absolute crap. He talked over me and made assumptions about what should be done about MY dress and then was incredibly dismissive to anything that I said. Then he had me try the dress on and said "You too fat, I cannot fix," over and over again. First off, the dress and I are fine, but thank you so much for the body issues. That's exactly what I wanted from a stranger was to think that there is something wrong with ME. I tried to walk out several times and he kept going with the horrible comments after he ripped the dress from my hands. I am serious when I say he called me fat repeatedly. Belittling a person in general is wrong. I walked in to get a quote (which he made up by the way by typing 1 number into the calculator) and walked out realizing what a truly horrible business this place is. I will NOT EVER recommend this place to anyone and I sure hope you lose business because of how you treated me. Also Mr. Owner, the top of the dress was made for someone with DD's and I am a size A. Anyone with eyeballs could have seen that it didn't fit up top, so the fact that you suggested that I was wrong was laughable. Brides, do not take your business here! Sir, you should be ashamed of how you treated me, and any others like me. You could have had the money from my alterations, but instead you get an incredibly negative review on Yelp. read more

Terrible. We had alterations done that were uneven and parts of the dress wear cut off when they shouldn't have been. I was told the dress could not be taken in at the bust because of the material. I over paid for alterations only to have it redone by another seamstress who said they gets a lot of messes from this store. read more

*Singing the praises of Perfect Fit Tailoring!* I recently re-discovered Perfect Fit on Shrewsbury Street and have been VERY happy with the services I have received here. I say "rediscovered," as I had come here once over a decade ago to have a formal dress hemmed for a wedding that I was attending. So thankful that I decided to go back there again a couple of months ago (after doing my own hemming and tailoring for a few years and making a HOT MESS of some things at times. Geeze-Louise, I should know better that this simply isn't in my skill-set). The alterations that were done correctly were great, but the owners don't know how to listen to customer requests. I took my prom dress here to take in the waist and shorten the straps, in the consultation I was happy with the fit but then asked them to keep the extra fabric on the straps just in case. A week later (can't complain about turn around time) I pick up the dress and it fits nothing like the consulation. The straps were so much shorter than originally, the bra bads were up by my collarbone and the back became all floppy and looked weird. On top of that the mesh under my arms were digging into my armpits. And when I took a closer look at the straps, they cut all the excess fabric off so it couldn't be fixed by them. I was told if I wanted anything more changed (mesh/back) i had to pay more which i think was unfair due to the mistakes of the tailor. By the looks of it, they just off length from the front of the strap and none off the back, making it look uneven. They had taken off an embellishment and pinned it to my dress, and when questioned said I could just leave it on there bc they forgot to sew it back on. I wasnt going to leave a safety pin on the front of my dress so now I is completely removed and I am forced to fix the mistakes the best I can myself. I am very disappointed in the work done here. My prom dress fits less now than it did pre alterations and I wish I went somewhere else. They might be good for suits and tuxes, but aren't well suited for formal dresses read more

Extremely disappointed, after reading the reviews I thought this was going to be a good option, close to home & not too bad. Well I brought in my bridesmaids dress for my brother's wedding and it needed to be taken in. It also had short sleeves that I wanted to be removed and stitched up so it would be sleeveless. There was a hem along the sleeves that I was told would be easy to remove and sew back as sleeveless. After discussing price and he gave me my total, I said that I had to call my mother to check on the price before we went ahead with anything, and while waiting for her to answer my phone, he started ripping the seams open. I was so confused but I'm not an aggressive person so I just accepted it and agreed to our price. I came back a week later and the bust that was taken in was fine, but the sleeves looked so wrong. It was a lace upper so based on other reviews he simply doesn't know how to properly sew lace because it was all bunched and not straight on one side where he removed a sleeve, while the other side was sewn perfectly straight, but at about an inch wider than the other. I pointed this out and he tried to say it was the dress companies fault. He kept making excuses until my mother finally got him to agree to just straighten the left side, and make the right arm side an inch thinner to match the left. He told us he'd fix it and we could come back tomorrow. Well I showed up today and I should have brought my mother because the left side was untouched, he did not straighten nor fix it, but luckily the right side was straight still and now the correct width to match. But he charged me higher than we had agreed upon and when I questioned this, as it was clearly and issue with his sewing that caused they delay, he told me the price increased because he had to fix it again. When I tried to argue that the original issue was because he simply didn't sew them correctly to match, he blamed the dress company again for having bad sleeves. I'm honestly not the most strong and assertive person, so I just accepted it and paid for the overpriced, poorly sewn dress. At this point I just want to have it and attend the wedding. It's not too noticeable but being overcharged and then have the price go up, while being manipulated and hearing his excuses was such a bad experience. I just hope no one else has to deal with that, I would not recommend. Also this is my first review on yelp and I just felt to taken advantage of and ripped off I wanted to write this. Hope someone reads this and chooses a better place for alternations next time. read more

I read all the reviews for wedding dress alterations and figured this was a sure fire bet. I've never done a Yelp review, but I hope this will save someone else. I cannot stress enough how poorly my dress came out. I had a lot of lace, and floral lace on mesh and it was butchered. Maybe it was too complicated...but i would have rather been turned away then have what happened happen. The scalloped edge on the bottom of the dress is all wonky and squiggly.. some seams weren't finished and when i pointed it out he argued with me but then eventually admitted he'd missed it and put a quick stitch on it. But the straps were the worst... They were mesh with lace flowers and vines growing up it... he put a seam through it that should have never happened and now the seam is unfinished, unraveling and the mesh has holes that are growing larger. He put cups in the wrong place and they were crooked.. they had to be taken out. There are a couple of odd puckers sewed into the top that look off and after all the butchering done to the top of my dress... it still doesn't fit well.. the straps slide off my shoulders, there is no support for my chest, and one shoulder strap wings out while the other digs in close to my arm. I cried. It seems shallow to cry over a dress, but I just couldn't help it. Don't go here for your wedding dress. please. read more

Needed a jumpsuit altered in a pinch and they were able to help me right away, even during this busy prom/wedding season. Was able to walk in, have my jumpsuit shortened and the legs tapered, and walked out with it in 30 minutes for a very reasonable price! Would use them again! Definitely recommend! read more

Got my pants hemmed for the suite and they did a great job! Will definitely recommend.

I needed major alterations to my wedding dress just 4 DAYS before my wedding. I brought my dress in to Perfect Fit in a panic. The owner immediately calmed me down and asked me to try it on and he would take a look at it. This was a satin gown needing major alterations in 3 areas. Not only did he do the work in ONE DAY so that I would have peace of mind, but the work was PERFECT. He also steamed the dress for me, which normally has to get done at a dry cleaner, because he knew I had no time to spare.... for free. He charged me a total of $150. $75 for the work to the top of the dress and $75 for the bottom. I had one other quote for $280 and even then they said they would never do it in 4 days. He did it perfectly, plus steaming the dress for $150 in ONE DAY. He saved my wedding and my stress disappeared. The customer service is phenomenal and the work is impeccable. I could not be more impressed with this place. I will drive out of my way to bring all of my tailoring needs here from now on. read more

This place is excellent. I am a Bostonian originally from Worcester. Every time I feel like I am being ripped off at home by some service (for example: getting a dress tailored), I take my business to Worcester because it is always more affordable. I was a bridesmaid and I needed my dress tailored (hemmed, the sides taken in, and straps added.) I first tried to get it tailored at Yolanda's in Belmont near Boston. They took an one hour and half to pin up my dress during the fitting and then they were going to charge me $240!!!! So, I left that place with dress in hand and headed to Perfect Fit in Worcester. They were very nice, it took them 5 minutes to put pins in during the fitting, they told me it would take a week for them to tailor it, and then here's the best part-- it would cost $80. I am beyond amazed at the work produced here. I recently brought my wedding dress to get altered and had an amazing experience. My gown was purchased bigger because of the shape it needed to fit my shoulders which are larger than the average girl. It was way too big around the waist to begin with and then I lost another 40 pounds after I purchased it. My gown was a sample dress so it had flaws such as pulled strings and missing beads. Perfect Fit made my dress fit me perfect as well as fixing all the issues it had from being a sample. He did 3 bustles and took inches off the sides of my dress and charged less than $200 for everything. I will use this business for any alteration needs in the future I am so happy! So incredibly impressed with Perfect Fit, they did an amazing job altering my wedding dress, and at a very reasonable price. I was so nervous entrusting my wedding dress to anyone for alterations, but the moment I walked into the shop they made me feel at ease and it was very obvious that they are VERY good at what they do. They even steamed my dress and made it look absolutely FLAWLESS. We're bringing the guys suits in to be tailored this week and I'm insisting that my bridesmaids bring their dresses there as well. Finally - a place that delivers what it promises on time and for a reasonable price. My only complaint with this place is they seem completely unaware of you when you first walk in. I've taken a couple of things here for some minor alternations. It's been a few months since going there and I cannot for the life of me remember his name... but the guy who works there (and might be the owner?) is super friendly and comes across as a perfectionist (which I like). The first time I went there I came in to have a dress slightly altered (I didn't like the look of the sleeves). The guy was really sweet and complimented how the dress looked on me. He said he'd have the sleeves altered within a couple of days. When I came back he had me try it on to make sure I was satisfied. I'm glad I did because the sleeves were still a little off. I mentioned this to him and he fixed them right there! With all the other alterations I've had done the experience has been similar. The price isn't bad either - generally under $20. read more

I just purchased a suit for a job interview and the pants were a bit too snug around the waist. I had less than 24 hrs to get them let out, and the guy where I bought the suit recommended Perfect Fit. I dropped the pants off at 6 at night, and they were ready the next morning. They felt much better and more comfortable for only 12 bucks. Nice owner, too. Kudos to this place, I highly recommend it! read more

I needed my wedding dress altered 3 weeks before the wedding and Perfect Fit was recommended to me by a friend. The guy here turned my dress in a week. First he fixed the boning on my dress while I waited so that he could pin it properly, and then did all the alterations to the top AND steamed the dress for $45. When I went to pick it up, he let me try it on and did one more final adjustment while I waited. No extra charge. He was very honest about the bottom of the dress and explained that with a sweep train you can't do a good looking bustle- there's just not enough fabric. I had gone to a couple other places that wanted to charge up to $70 to make a meh looking bustle so it was refreshing to get some honesty. Everyone at the wedding thought the dress was custom made for how well it fit me! I should also add that my wedding dress was not white, and this is the only place I went that didn't give me weird comments about it. I will be back with my business clothes. First time customer, but these folks have my business for life! I needed a pair of suit pants tailored on short notice (it was Tuesday and I needed them by Friday for a wedding on Saturday). Obviously, it being prom season, I was very nervous about the predicament I was in. The guys in the shop were super accommodating, and taking my measurements and marking the pants was done almost instantly. When I picked them up today, they were absolutely perfect and nicely pressed. The kicker? Only $22, and they even took in the waist! Can't beat that. I had bought 2 suit jackets off the rack a few years ago and they fit great along the shoulders but terribly around the lower torso. I brought them in along with a pair of pants that were a little too long. All 3 were done in a week and I am extremely happy with the results. He was very kind and professional. I don't wear suits frequently so I may continue buying them off the rack and then bringing them to the Perfect Fit for alterations. A lot cheaper than buying a tailored suit. read more

Called ahead about a repair on a string for a new sweatshirt that had trouble in the dryer and the seamstress was very cordial on the phone. Drove right down and he stopped everything he was doing to quickly sew it back together in under a minute, and didn't even charge me for it. I've been putting off the repair because I thought it would be more of a hassle than anything but this establishment went above and beyond to help out a neighbor. I'm in a wedding next year and will be tailoring my bridesmaid dress here just because they were that awesome. read more

If I could I would give this place zero stars. I called to ask the cost of alterations to take in my blazer. The person on the phone was very rude and told me it'll take a week. That's not what I had asked but I figured I'll just go in. When I went in, we weren't greeted right away and the atmosphere did not feel inviting. He told me to put on the clothes and did the pinning. When I asked the cost of taking in my blazer, dress pants, and skirt he told me $97. I told him I'll just take back the pants and skirt because I cannot afford it. He wanted to charge me $60 to take in my blazer so I told him I had to call my husband to tell him I was going to be spending $60 on my alterations. He then blew up on me. Told me that this is why he charges before because I wouldn't come back for my stuff. I told him that I called before to ask for the prices but he kept yelling at me in his language. What got me was that he called me a dummy and other names and told me to never come back. This was all in front of another customer! I'm just shocked at how horrible he was all because I wanted to let my husband know I was going to be paying $60 for alterations on my blazer. The owner got his wish because I will never come back here again. They're very rude. I still cannot believe how I was treated. read more

I bought an off the rack sale suit at Macy's and I needed special tailoring due to my feminine shape and broad shoulders. Perfect fit was amazing and made me so happy. I changed back and handed them back to her. She told me If I wanted she could do them right now to save me a trip. She hemmed them and then pressed them while I waited. In and out in about 20 min!!!! Cannot comment on the quality of the work; however, when I called in about the costs to tailor a shirt the person on the other side seemed very disgruntled. I asked about the different the costs to hem a shirt, and he said $12. Later I called to ask how much is the additional charge to shorten the sleeves as well. He just hung up after huffing and puffing. One could tell he was annoyed based on the tone in his voice. A little disheartening, but perhaps he was having a bad day- just a really bad turnoff in terms of a customer's point of view. read more

Just went to pick up my wedding dress this morning and was extremely pleased as to the quality of work and the pricing. The dress looks amazing, he did a wonderful job and it fits perfectly!! I'm so happy that he didn't charge me an arm and a leg since we are doing everything as low budget as possible. Bashar is great! Let's just say there were parts of the dress that needed altering and it was very close to a certain "top area" that women can get awkward about and he was very professional with the pinning of this particular area. I was recommended to Perfect Fit by one of my bride friends. Perfect Fit altered my wedding dress (petticoat hem [from the top], dress hem, taking in, 3-point bustle) in just a week for about $250. I walked into the shop and he asked me to try the dress on with the petticoat which is when i showed him that the petticoat went up to high and showed on my illusion back. Immediately and on the spot, he had me take the petticoat off and he took about 5 minutes to hem the petticoat from the top so that it would not show and I would not have to roll it down or do some other makeshift way to make it not show. He had a line of a few people, but still took his time to make sure he was doing his best work on my dress. A week later, I came back in to try it on and it fit like a glove! Now I am recommending him to all of my bride friends! read more

Totally missed the mark despite all the favorable reviews. I took into 2 men's suits. The pants on both were made too short. The cuff on one pant leg was never fully stitched and fell down. One pant leg cuffed and one uncuffed doesn't "cut" the mark. I went to another tailor who shook his head when he saw the poor quality of the work done at this business. read more
