I brought in a delicate vintage baby dress for an alteration, and unfortunately it was altered with the inside of the dress treated as the outside. When I raised the issue, I was told it wasn't clear which side was the inside versus the outside. However, the dress has clear indicators--including the tag, buttons, and front design details--that distinguish the inside from the outside. The incorrect stitching left visible needle holes in the fragile fabric and left the alteration work, which should have been concealed on the inside of the dress, visible on the outside when the dress is worn. I explained that I was not comfortable having the alteration undone because the dress is very old and the fabric is fragile. I was concerned that removing the stitches could cause additional damage. The owner would only refund the alteration fee if she was allowed to undo the work. Since I did not want to risk further damage to my dress, I declined. I was disappointed that a refund for an incorrectly performed alteration was conditioned on allowing additional work to be done to such a delicate garment. Mistakes can happen, but I was disappointed with how this situation was handled. I would encourage anyone bringing in vintage or heirloom items to use caution. read more

We needed it done quickly, so we dropped it off on Friday, and it was ready by Monday at 3:30pm. Even faster than they had promised. To take in the sides of the jacket and shorten the sleeves, total + tax came out to be $88. So, a little pricey, but totally worth the cost and the 40' drive from Downtown Houston. I had used Elite for many years when Miriam had the shop and was always happy with her work.Since the place was sold it has disappointed me .I took a silk blouse to be hemmed and when I picked it up it was filthy. There was food and grease on the blouse. I took it into the shop and the seamstress was extremely rude and argued with me refusing to do anything . No offer to refund money but finally agreed to pay for dry cleaning after discussing this with her for 15 mins.The prices are also too high for the quality of work. Miriam, the lady who runs this place, is awesome! Anytime I need something altered, I take it here. I like my clothes to fit right so whenever I get a new suit, I have Miriam bring in the sides and adjust the sleeves so that they're the perfect length (~$45). It makes an off the rack suit almost look like it was custom tailored. I also get all my slacks and jeans hemmed ($10/each). Although there are other workers, Miriam does all the measurements herself. She's very quick but sometimes you'll have to wait for a dressing room if it's busy. Their standard turn around is about one week, but they will usually accommodate your request if you need it sooner than that. It's a little tough to find your first time but it's right next to the Office Depot on the left side. read more

I think Elite Tailor would probably be fine if you were going for something simple like a pants hem. I had a blouse I wanted to get resized for me. I bought it while thrifting and really loved it. Anyhow I spent $30 for them to work their magic. It was smaller but they could have fixed it more. They also said the arm would hit in a different spot than it did when I got it back. She acted like she couldn't do anything else for me and seemed really put out by the whole experience (or just talking to customers in general). I wish they would have taken the time to listen to me and actually give me the service that I desired. I also got jeans and skirt shortened. They were fine but they did change the hem of the skirt without specifying they would. This little joint has always been my go to place for all my pant hemming needs. They do great work. However, I once took 2 men's blazers to them for slight alteration and was not truly satisfied with their work. One seemed like it hadn't even been touched. When I wanted to work through trying on of the to be picked up items, they were very dismissive as they were too busy to accommodate any further support. Maybe even a language barrier. I give them 4 stars none the less because I like every other job they have done for me and will continue to go back for my hemming needs and things of such nature. For a small premium, they will even expedite your requests, some as short as a day. Wow. I took 2 men's suits in to be adjusted, they did the work on one, but did not fix the shoulders in the second. At $130 per suit for adjustments, it was awful. I'll never be back. They did give me a discount when I complained, but I had to come back a second time in order for them to 'address' the situation. I had high hopes, I live close by, but I'll never be back. They may be good at other work, but don't take your men's suits to them. You'll get ripped off. read more

Sharp objects everywhere: needles, razors, shearing scissors, hot irons and a screaming Owner holding a child. Completely unprofessional. I brought four items to this establishment on two separate occasions. Spending a total of $130.00. When picking up my first pair of pants ($85.00), while dropping off another pair of pants. The hem was different from one to the other and the Owner ( who did the measurements and remembered the conversation ) offered to fix the mistake. So I dropped off the other pair leaving the first pair ( as the correct hem being the example and the other being re-done) and had to pay for the work that was not done right and walking out with nothing....by the way the first mistake took two weeks.!! Came back two weeks later (a month now) to pick up all four pairs of pants. They only presented three pairs! I had to convince them I was owed another pair (that was already paid for ) presenting a receipt. When I went to try on the pants, one pair's designer lable was melted from their iron. When brought to their attention, I was told that it was like that. I was unaware of the melted tag until I put it on and the waist was bunched up. I explained I wouldn't bring a pair of pants in to get the hem altered if they bunched up around the waist. I was there for 35 minutes while they waited on other people trying to get me to pay full price for now damaged pants. The Owner, brought her granddaughter 4 or 5, up to the counter raising her voice to argue the matter... It was such an uncomfortable situation with the little girl looking terrified that I just paid to get out of there . The ploy to shame someone into paying for damage goods by using a child is just horrible and I called CPS.. sharp objects everywhere: needles, razors, shearing scissors, hot irons and a screaming Owner gripping a child in her arms. read more

They're fine hemming some britches but if you need real fitting or anything a little complicated, I wouldn't use them.

I had my daughters prom dress altered there, the first charge for taking up the bodice was 65. When she went for second fitting it was not done correctly and still had to take more in. As well as take up the hem, the estimate of 75 total for the dress was given at that time. The charge when picking up the dress was 175.00. She insisted that it took over 8 hrs to hem the prom dress. The charge for the hem was 110.00, the bodice with the lace overlay was 65.00. The bodice was still done incorrectly, but would work. She insisted that the 175.00 was authorized over the phone and that they don't begin work until they are authorized. I called bank as this was not what was authorized after speaking with her, and being rudely hung up on. When the bank reversed the false charge she filed a police report and was planning on filing criminal charges unless I brought her the money right away. read more

This place is far from elite. It's basically a chop shop. If you need a quick fix you might get lucky with the quick part. Otherwise find a real tailor. They take shortcuts and their work does not last. They don't pay attention to detail or requests. I've had many hems come undone and coat sleeves almost ruined because they don't actually do any tailoring. They just tack a seam and repress to make it look the right length. It'll look good when you walk out but later when you wear it a few times or have the garment dry cleaned, the errors will show and they are awful. read more

I took 2 dresses in to be shortened and altered to fit my daughtera better. I was very clear as to what I wanted and Miriam appeared to understand. When I picked up the dresses neither one was right. I am still going to have one of them altered and the shoty work she did while I waited because she didn't do it to being with looks horrible. You can see the raw edge and the stitch is far from professional. I was charged more than what she told me when I dropped off. Miriam tried to tell me that she took a hem up on one of my dresses, that didn't require the hem to be done. She could not remember what she did or did not do to my dresses, even the women that actually worked on my clothes couldn't remember what she did. Now after spending $100 on alterations I will still have to have someone fix the dress to fit my daughter. Worst customer service. read more

The first time I went to Elite Tailor was in 2009/2010. Miriam altered my homecoming dress and it turned out well. When I went to her 2 weeks ago to have a dress hemmed, I got it back and it was longer than we had discussed. When I asked her to reduce the length by 1/2 an inch so it would look and fit better, she insisted it looked fine to her and that she would charge me for any further alteration. The way she relayed this was unnecessarily aggressive and rude. She was speaking to me in an unkind tone while also yelling at/to her employees (wrongly assuming that I don't understand Spanish). There is no value for the customer or any concept of customer service at this business. Miriam cares only about the bottom line and nothing else. Needless to say, I will not be trusting this tailor with my clothes or business ever again. There are much kinder, better and less expensive tailors in the woodlands that I have found and they will be awarded my business instead. read more

I had a number of high grade men's slacks that had a pleated front re-cut to remove the pleats, remove the excess material and remove excess material from the legs for a more modern fit. I told them what kind of shoes I would be wearing and it was just flats and tennis shoes. I had the shoes with me that I normally wear but not once did they ask me to put them on. She rolled them and made a little mark and told me I was good to go. I'm not a seamstress, I don't have experience with this, I wouldn't think it would make THAT big of a difference weather I only have socks on or have the actual tennis shoes I wear on. So I picked them up, paid and gave a tip, and left satisfied. Next morning I put them on and WITHOUT SHOES they look and feel way too short. I wore them for the day to see if maybe I just needed to get used to it but nope- they basically felt like high waters. So I called and all they said was to bring it back in and they'd take care of it. So I did, and all they said was to pick them up the next day after basically telling me it was my fault over and over again since I wasn't wearing shoes. Then when I took them off and showed her they were too short even without shoes, she said I must have washed them or something which no, I did not. So she said to pick them up the next day. So I did, and they were great. But then as I'm leaving the girl tells me I still have to pay because I never did. To expect someone who is dissatisfied with your work to pay for it TWICE is the worst business practice I have seen, especially after there was NO mention of me having to pay for it to get fixed, only "yeah we'll take care of it." And after I finally got them to understand that I was NOT PAYING for them to fix their bad work, the girl says "next time make sure you wear the shoes you wear with them." Seriously, telling your customer it's their fault over and over again is the best way to lose them. There won't be a next time. read more

I had been going here for several years without a problem. There will not be another visit after this horrible experience. A straight skirt had to be mtaken in at the sides - this resulted in three attempts to get right. Three attempts to sew a straight line. When I was told to come back in for the second do-over they said come in at 9am tomorrow, she will fix it while you're here. I go and put my skirt on only to find she's not there and no one said anything. I can't even get out the words to describe the events I went through with my wedding dress.
