This was one of the most stressful and unprofessional experiences I've ever had.** I left a $50 deposit and was told I'd receive a quote in a couple of days. No one ever contacted me. I called multiple times over the next week and got no response at all. When I finally showed up in person, I discovered they had already completed the alterations without ever giving me a price or confirming whether I agreed to the work. At that point, I had no real choice--my items were already altered, and I was suddenly given a very high cash‑only total. They also do not provide proper receipts, which made the situation feel even more questionable. The final amount they demanded did not reflect my deposit correctly. They owed me $30 in change and refused to give it to me, even after I pointed it out. That money is simply gone. Between the lack of communication, the surprise pricing, and the refusal to return the difference from my deposit, the entire experience felt extremely unfair and deeply unprofessional. After reading another customer's review describing almost the exact same issues--no upfront pricing, cash‑only pressure, inconsistent totals, and items being held until payment--it's clear this isn't an isolated situation. This was the most stressful alteration experience I've ever had. I strongly recommend going elsewhere to avoid the same problems.

Because this was mostly a pretty good experience for my first time…read more --- --- --- I bought two suits several months ago, and at the time, I was not aware of the magic of a custom suit. I saw some colleagues at an event, that looked like they were born to be put inside those suits... and that's because they were. The ones I bought were fine, but definitely had some oddities with the fit. Enter: Tran Tailor. To my surprise, there were not an ample number of alterations places in the area, or at least, many of them appeared to be more for wedding/prom dresses. But Tran's website said they did suits, so I made the trek over here. They took my measurements, and asked if I could come back in about a month. I didn't need the suits for a while, so the wait was longer than I expected, but it didn't bother me. When I went to pick them up, one of the suits felt pretty good, while the other one was too tight. They were the same exact suit, just a different color, but they adjusted them differently, I get it -- humans are doing these changes, not robots. Still, it wasn't the most convenient, as I had to come back a 2nd time. They 2nd time, the suit still wasn't as good as the other one, but good enough, Overall, they got the job done. It wasn't cheap, it took a while, and it's definitely not the ideal fit like something custom, but I'm in better shape than I was before I initially came.

I brought in a delicate vintage baby dress for an alteration, and unfortunately it was altered…read morewith the inside of the dress treated as the outside. When I raised the issue, I was told it wasn't clear which side was the inside versus the outside. However, the dress has clear indicators--including the tag, buttons, and front design details--that distinguish the inside from the outside. The incorrect stitching left visible needle holes in the fragile fabric and left the alteration work, which should have been concealed on the inside of the dress, visible on the outside when the dress is worn. I explained that I was not comfortable having the alteration undone because the dress is very old and the fabric is fragile. I was concerned that removing the stitches could cause additional damage. The owner would only refund the alteration fee if she was allowed to undo the work. Since I did not want to risk further damage to my dress, I declined. I was disappointed that a refund for an incorrectly performed alteration was conditioned on allowing additional work to be done to such a delicate garment. Mistakes can happen, but I was disappointed with how this situation was handled. I would encourage anyone bringing in vintage or heirloom items to use caution.
