At that point, I had no real choice--my items were already altered, and I was suddenly given a very high cash‑only total. They also do not provide proper receipts, which made the situation feel even more questionable. The final amount they demanded did not reflect my deposit correctly. They owed me $30 in change and refused to give it to me, even after I pointed it out. That money is simply gone. Between the lack of communication, the surprise pricing, and the refusal to return the difference from my deposit, the entire experience felt extremely unfair and deeply unprofessional. I brought in a delicate vintage baby dress for an alteration, and unfortunately it was altered…read morewith the inside of the dress treated as the outside. When I raised the issue, I was told it wasn't clear which side was the inside versus the outside. However, the dress has clear indicators--including the tag, buttons, and front design details--that distinguish the inside from the outside. The incorrect stitching left visible needle holes in the fragile fabric and left the alteration work, which should have been concealed on the inside of the dress, visible on the outside when the dress is worn. I explained that I was not comfortable having the alteration undone because the dress is very old and the fabric is fragile. I was concerned that removing the stitches could cause additional damage. The owner would only refund the alteration fee if she was allowed to undo the work. Since I did not want to risk further damage to my dress, I declined. I was disappointed that a refund for an incorrectly performed alteration was conditioned on allowing additional work to be done to such a delicate garment. Mistakes can happen, but I was disappointed with how this situation was handled. I would encourage anyone bringing in vintage or heirloom items to use caution.
