I saw some colleagues at an event, that looked like they were born to be put inside those suits... and that's because they were. The ones I bought were fine, but definitely had some oddities with the fit. Enter: Tran Tailor. To my surprise, there were not an ample number of alterations places in the area, or at least, many of them appeared to be more for wedding/prom dresses. But Tran's website said they did suits, so I made the trek over here. They took my measurements, and asked if I could come back in about a month. I didn't need the suits for a while, so the wait was longer than I expected, but it didn't bother me. When I went to pick them up, one of the suits felt pretty good, while the other one was too tight. They were the same exact suit, just a different color, but they adjusted them differently, I get it -- humans are doing these changes, not robots. Still, it wasn't the most convenient, as I had to come back a 2nd time. They 2nd time, the suit still wasn't as good as the other one, but good enough, Overall, they got the job done. It wasn't cheap, it took a while, and it's definitely not the ideal fit like something custom, but I'm in better shape than I was before I initially came.

I brought in a delicate vintage baby dress for an alteration, and unfortunately it was altered…read morewith the inside of the dress treated as the outside. When I raised the issue, I was told it wasn't clear which side was the inside versus the outside. However, the dress has clear indicators--including the tag, buttons, and front design details--that distinguish the inside from the outside. The incorrect stitching left visible needle holes in the fragile fabric and left the alteration work, which should have been concealed on the inside of the dress, visible on the outside when the dress is worn. I explained that I was not comfortable having the alteration undone because the dress is very old and the fabric is fragile. I was concerned that removing the stitches could cause additional damage. The owner would only refund the alteration fee if she was allowed to undo the work. Since I did not want to risk further damage to my dress, I declined. I was disappointed that a refund for an incorrectly performed alteration was conditioned on allowing additional work to be done to such a delicate garment. Mistakes can happen, but I was disappointed with how this situation was handled. I would encourage anyone bringing in vintage or heirloom items to use caution.

I've had my pants hemmed, beads on expensive tops and dresses replaced, dresses taken in.. not to mention bridesmaids dress and my wedding gown! This is my go-to alteration stop. I live in Pearland and I would drive all the way to Tomball just to get things done. My sister-in-law is a tiny girl and when she got married they fixed her wedding gown. She received her gown as a gift but it was a size 10 and she was a size 2. We were so afraid that if we altered the dress and since it was such a dramatic change, it would alter the look of the dress.. but Andy reassured us and a few weeks later, when she tried it on again, it fit PERFECTLY. You couldn't even tell that it was altered! It looked like it was made for her! Not to mention, the prices are reasonable. So many messages back and forth. Literally, Alexandra just didn't do the work - either it wasn't done properly or she just didn't do it. I went back 7 times, finally just took the dresses and left. I paid for half up front and I have two dresses that are not wearable. Waste of time and money. Super disappointing.
