We only needed Kim to shorten the dress because it was too long. She made it WAY too small, and she moved the bustle to the center of her butt. and she moved her belt to under her boobs instead of her waist. Sung is the bomb! She is seriously the sweetest, most caring, and hard working seamstress/designer that I have met. She cares more about the customer and educating about her trade than she does making extra profit. There have been two occasions where I needed a sports coat/ suit altered very last minute and she made it happen. Both times were very lengthly and involved complex revisions that I wouldn't trust anybody else to do. She recently did some last minute alterations for my wedding suit the day before with a smile, staying up late hours of the night to get it done in time for me. Being new to the area and very petite, I was in need of a local tailor. Plus I was going to need someone to do alterations for my wedding dress later this year, so better find someone trustworthy now. (See, Mom? I plan ahead.) Decided to give Fancy Pants Tailor a shot since their website said they specialized in formalwear. Right up my alley of needs. Michelle was prompt in responding to my query on their website and setting up an appointment, and I can't tell you how convenient it is for them to come to me instead of my having to hunt through The Woodlands for a shop (inevitably hidden behind trees, being The Woodlands). Michelle and her mom arrived promptly for the appointment, bringing along everything necessary to get me measured and fitted in the dress I needed altered. They were very friendly and professional and also extremely helpful in making sure I was wearing the underthings/heels I wanted with the dress so it would fit perfectly. They also explained exactly what needed to be taken up (hemmed, obviously, as I am five foot short) and taken in (the bust/shoulders). They also gave me options for how I wanted the top taken in: a quick fix that would be cheaper or a more precise fit (involving recutting the armholes and realigning the entire top and back) which would cost more. I picked the more expensive option because I wanted to alter the dress to fit from now onward, and not just for a one-time wear. I felt the prices were reasonable for their work -- and when I got the dress delivered back (another perk!), the worksmanship was great -- and the timeline reasonable. To be fair, I wasn't in a rush. The dress took about 9 days total, but anything with more delicate fabric or more work to be done may take longer. Of course, simpler things may also take less time. They will give you a timeline at the appointment and I'm sure you can discuss with them if your needs are different. Great work, very friendly, and very convenient. I'll definitely be using Fancy Pants Tailor coming forward. (Also, you gotta admit it: a great name.) read more

I went to get minor alterations and was very disappointed. She wanted to charge me $80 to shorten the straps. Additionally, when I asked her for what I wanted, she replied, "you shouldn't do that. She was very kind, professional and knowledgeable about clothing design and tailoring. She took the extra time to measure and pin both sides to ensure that my sleeve lengths were equal. Best tailor I've ever seen! Fancy Pants Tailor (Sung) is--hands down--the most knowledgeable and helpful tailor I have ever had. I came to Fancy Pants Tailor because I was in need of suit tailoring, for both my pants and jackets. Upon meeting Sung, she took my measurements and explained both the obvious and subtle distinctions for obtaining the look I desired. In addition, not only does she know the tricks of the trade, she'll help you find the look you want. For example, I bought 2 new suits thinking there were "quality-made" because I paid $900 (buy one, get one $150); however, this was FAR from the truth! As soon as Sung looked at the suits, she told me they were not good suits. At first I thought she was kidding, but then she showed me why. First, she took out a ruler and measured both the left and right shoulders for each suit. In both suit tops, the right shoulder was 1" different in length compared to the left shoulder. As a new suit buyer, I mistakenly assumed all suits were made equally on both sides. This is NOT the case. Second, she had me feel the fabric and explained that polyester wool is commonly used because it prevents wrinkles in suits, but is also much less breathable than wool and terrible for Texas summer months. Finally, she recommended where I should shop for suits, and even the brands. After returning the $900 suits and taking her advise, I got 2 $1500 suits for $1000--thus only paying $100 more for much better suits. She even FaceTimed me while at the store to give me advice. Needless to say, I am very satisfied with my service and would strongly recommend Fancy Pants Tailor. read more

Amazing!!! I love her!! She taught me so many things about how to buy a suit, what to look for in dress shirts, and how to even hang my suits properly!!! Amazing!! I lost a ton of weight and had to get a suit resized and she did it amazingly and under a pretty strict time frame!! I look amazing in it and now it's made just for me...I will be buying a new suit soon and using her advice on how to shop for one, then take it to her and get it personalized perfectly for me.
