Emerald City's came in comparable to our usual plumber, but with the added benefit of getting another Rheem instead of a different brand and adding an automatic shut-off in case of leaks. Emerald City partners with McClendon Home Services for the water heater installs. Jesse and Aaron were on time and professional. Jesse checked our meter at the street and explained why we didn't need an expansion tank and, in fact, why having one could unnecessarily increase our water bill. We now have a 10-year parts-and-labor warranty and peace of mind. We also got an estimate for windows, but unfortunately Emerald City doesn't currently provide exterior painting services. We still might loop back with them in the future for first-floor windows where we could paint the trim ourselves. Overall, we're happy with the communication, customer service, and value.

A big broken window that I had been ignoring for a long time finally got taken care of today…read more Process was quick, from filling out website form and having 2 guys come and measure the next day. They were very informative about why this window had failed and I had a bid by the end of the day. I pondered a couple different options for replacement and ended up going with what was being replaced instead of matching the other window next to it. Paid deposit thru web portal and then communication was quiet for ~1 week with no follow up to inform when the build might be complete and ready to install. Received call about another bid which got this one back on track WRT communication and what to expect. Got couple messages about changing the install appointment, first earlier, then later an hour later. Was ~2-3 hours after the original appt time quoted the week prior. Installers came and took care of everything. I introduced myself and then they told me their names. When they were done, they just left. Felt like an odd interaction, but everything went smoothly and no more broken window, so not dwelling on a different experience than the rest of the interactions I had. Finally, price was very good and their vehicles have company name on them, which seems to be a rare thing when I see other trades working around my neighborhood.

I got bids, and was the most impressed with Danny L at Signature Windows. We had a tight deadline because the home was going on the market and access to the window, especially in the rain, was really challenging. Meeting the deadline, and the safety of the installers, were non-negotiable. Danny came out the very next day to measure the Window From Hell and, not only did he give me the best price, but his company was the only one that had all the scaffolding equipment readily available at no extra charge. The window arrived sooner than expected, and installation was quickly scheduled to meet the deadline. Then we hit a snag: some epic rain made the cedar roof too slippery for safe conditions. Brent and his crew of expert (and very brave) installers rigged up a safe way to haul this brand-new Mother of ALL Windows up to the second floor and install it using very long ladders, secure scaffolding, and harnesses. I think we had 4 or 5 installers for this job. It took all day to get the old Window From Hell out and the new Mother of All Windows installed. But what a job! Perfect caulk lines, perfect cleaning of the glass, perfect clean-up of the job site, indoors and out. Job done ON TIME, SAFELY, and at an excellent price.
