Why show my something I can't have. - The lady nicked my finger and I only realized it because it I wondered "why does my nail still sting and she's not even doing anything to the nail anymore" . I can't get a "Sorry" or even an acknowledgement.. eesh. - She pulled a nail file out of the sanitized bag then proceeded to use another nail file that she pulled from the drawer to file my nails... I guess they sent new people to the person I had because she could only have basic nails. She did my nails nicely and had them thin like I like another guy who came over to do the design. So, the last time I came here will actually be the last time. I had been to another nail salon in LA because I was visiting my fiancé and a few of my nails (from here, by the way) broke. They couldn't do the normal fill, so they swapped me to GelX, which to be honest, I know nothing about, but wanted to get my nails done either way. Unfortunately, another few broke off from that salon, so I tried to give this one another go. I go back and I wait almost 25 minutes to be seen, which was okay, well, not really to be honest, but it was what it was, so I didn't make a fuss. I did find it odd that there was only 1 other person in the salon, and 3 other people working though. What ticked me off what what followed... the gentleman, who I assume is the owner, basically ripped me a new one for having GelX! When I told him I never had it before and didn't know it was such a big deal, he just kept at it. I did tell him that I would prefer not to talk about it further. But he kep going... Calling the work shoddy and telling me how bad my nails looked and I basically paid a lot of money for press on nails. Exactly what I don't want to hear. Then he basically told me to only go to him for acrylics. And that I had to let him know in the future, because this was a waste of his time. (!) At this point I lost it... he was shaming me for something that I knew nothing about, and when I told him to stop, he wouldn't. In addition to that, he was talking about how I wasted his time, as if he didn't make me sit for 25 minutes in the lobby, when i had an appointment. I then told him to just complete the job of taking off GelX and I would leave. He then looked shocked and said "but you booked for a full set, I need to charge you for a full set." I told him absolutely not, and I laid it out for him, including the time he made me wait... so I said I'm over it. He looked a little surprised, and was suddenly really nice. But i didn't care... the damage was done... So, all in all, I will not be returning here. They may have loyal customers, but I am definitely not one of them. read more

The work they do at Elite Nails is 5 star work. They really take their time and give you exactly what you want. The work quality is very professional. However, their time management is not. Every appointment I've had with them, with the exception of my first appointment, has started 20-40 minutes late. They do excellent work but they need to allow more time for their appointments. I had to leave my last appointment that was scheduled for 9:30 AM because it was 10:00 and it still hadn't started. It is also difficult to get an appointment in the first place. The difficulty increases when you request a specific nail artist. The difficulty to get an appointment plus the extended wait time doesn't work with busy schedules. read more

Moving to a new place means you have to find all new services. I'm so lucky to have found Elite thanks to great Yelp reviews. I had visited another nail salon in Ventura in March and did not like it enough to return. This place is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. I called in yesterday evening to schedule an appointment and they accommodated me with an early appointment this morning. I have very sensitive toes so getting a good pedicure is important to me. Jessica did a phenomenal job removing all of the dead skin and treating my ingrown nails. The instruments used for the pedicure are sanitized and clean. As for my gel manicure, it's gorgeous! Jessica also did my manicure and she was so detailed and took her time to make sure it was perfect. She did the design just as I liked. UPDATE 4/10: As soon as I posted the review below, I received a message from the owner, Paul, who apologized for my experience and wanted me to call so we can schedule a time to come back and fix the color issue the next day. I called around noon on Saturday and he said to come in at 630 so he can fix it. I had every intention of just fixing the four nails that had an "off color" but as soon as I walked in, I asked if we could just start over and do a completely different design/color. He did not seem upset or bothered by it but he had questions as to what design and guided me on which would look best. After going through a few swatches and suggestions, he re-did my entire gel set and didn't make me feel like a burden at all for not being satisfied initially. Paul and his entire team are great to work with and I'm happy with their customer service and commitment to satisfaction :) ** Posted below 4/8/22 with 3 stars -- Unfortunately have to post another updated lower review. Came back for gel mani/pedi. Wanted a geometric design but was told that my nails needed to be longer (they're currently medium length). It confused me a little bit but I asked if she was able to replicate it at all even if it was a simpler design but unfortunately, she didn't feel confident doing it - which is completely fine. She said she only knew how to do one color or flower design so i get it. What sucked is she kept telling me that my nails weren't long enough repeatedly. Then i asked her to do a basic color with two wavy lines and she also wasn't confident she could do it and had to have Paul (i think) step in again. I feel bad because Paul had to step away from one client multiple times to help out two techs to either teach, fix, or do it himself. I got the feeling that he was the only one who could do intermediate/advanced nail art. So what I mean if you show them a picture they will copy it if they colors don't match they try to match the colors the best they can with the picture you show. He's friendly, professional, nice to chat with during my appointments and has delivered on every design I've shown him (see my pics - his work speaks for itself) They are extremely busy because they're short-staffed (as are most businesses right now) so my recommendation is to be understanding, call ahead to inquire about openings and get an appointment. Also, if you cannot make an appointment that you booked, be considerate enough to call them to cancel instead of no-showing. This results in a devastating opportunity cost to businesses who reserve time for people who do not show up and leaves those wanting service having to go elsewhere. I give it a single star for the woman who worked mostly on my nails. I had called the owner to schedule an appointment for a pedi and a simple mani with square, dip powder nails that would have a duo-tone ombré. He told me that I could come in at 5:15 and then changed it to 6pm for my pedi, then 7pm he said he would do my nails. For this technique we had a whole convo about him having to use a brush over regular "dipping," which I was fine with doing. The next day, I showed up about 5 minutes late after work and was seated behind the owner. He was working on a client. My pedicure went smoothly and the woman who did it was very talented. I've attached pictures of my toes. The owner had swung by during my pedi to ask about my manicure - what I wanted because I think he forgot. I told him I planned on getting the dip powder and he convinced me to do acrylics instead. She then sat me down at a manicure table. She asked me what I wanted and I told her. Then the owner stepped in because she didn't know how to do ombré; he then realized I was the girl with the appointment. The owner then looked at my bare nails and then tried convincing me to get regular gel. Let me give some context here: he was with another client. I am rightfully assuming that he didn't have time to do mine even though I had an appointment and he said he would do my DIP POWDER at 7pm. Now, I agreed to a gel manicure which began at 7:20pm with the woman who did my pedi. Lots of changes in such a little amount of time. Not only this, the owner also asked about my design I had already talked to him about. I had sent him pictures here on Yelp about exactly what I was looking for in the first place. And then, he told me that he doesn't recommend the red-to-black. And I told him but that's what I'd like and I think it would be fine. So, the woman ended up doing the base of my nails (red part) and the owner came by after he was done with his other client to just do the ombré (black end). This was all gel by the way. The picture I asked for barely had black tips. I asked the woman and the owner to faintly add black. Reference the attached picture - I received 1/3 black nails. These will be my Halloween AND Christmas photo nails so that's why I barely wanted any black. Was that paid attention to? Certainly not. Not I will have very black nails for my Christmas photos! Once the owner finished my nails, the woman added the matte coat that I requested. Before I left I asked the owner how long would this last? Because I needed it to last at least 2 weeks. He said, "They should last as long as the others." Well, it's been less than 24 hours and my right index fingernail already chipped. I've done acrylics, dip powder, gel... and I know gel is not long-lasting. The last thing he told me was to contact him if I had any issues. Let's just leave it with this - I will never go back nor recommend this place to anyone that I know. I've seen nail technicians everywhere I've lived and this was the worst experience and quality I've ever come across. My nails are strong, so I'm not sure how a simple gel coat would make them chip. This appointment was too much of a hassle to get exactly what I asked for, let alone what I actually wanted and paid for. Both were $80 and I gave the woman a $25 tip. One star is generous in my opinion. ---------- New review 10/19 I had a phone conversation again (don't do this with the owner obviously because he doesn't remember things he tells people via phone convos). I tipped the woman not knowing I'd refund. Once my nails chipped the next day, that was the last straw for me after dealing with everything else. That is why I requested the FULL refund afterwards. She worked on my hands too. Have I ever asked for a refund? Never. I don't know if it's including tip? The owner also didn't mention the exact amount so I had no clue and I didn't think twice about my request. Let me add in some context of my followup phone call with the owner because that's not even mentioned or referenced accurately. He said I could either come in and get a refund OR call a merchant or bank to handle it. I didn't have time to go back. I had family and friend events come up, so I finally called my bank to handle it for me to save me some time. Was that so wrong to do after it being mentioned as an option? I don't think so. I didn't know asking for a refund that was agreed upon would be such a problem. There was no effort on his end the past week, so I made the effort instead. Honestly, when I would've noticed the refund posted from my bank account, I would've removed the review. Not after this rude, inaccurate comment from the owner though. read more
