Not only are they extremely reasonable in terms of pricing, but Rudy is honest and communicative which takes out a lot of the stress of moving. Elite movers did a great job moving our 4300 sq ft professional offices from downtown to upper State St. Eleven full offices of furniture from a location we had been in for 29 years. They professionally moved lots of artwork, carefully disassembled large desks with returns and manuveured a 10 long one piece conference table down a two flight of enclosed stairs with a midway landing. They were extremely polite, asked questions when needed and were patient with our last minute ideas to move furniture in the new offices from its initial placement. This is a rather belated (several months late, in fact) review of Elite Movers delayed only due to my own dreadful schedule. But time has NOT dulled the memory of this particularly efficient operation and its boundlessly energetic owner, Rudy, who left an indelibly positive impression on an otherwise very last minute move out of Santa Barbara. You'll notice he is mentioned personally in most of the Yelp reviews and there's a darn good reason for it - exceptional customer service! Now on to the details... When I say this was a last minute move, I really do mean last minute, and at the worst possible time in the middle of a season filled with hundreds if not thousands of college-related moves. As a result, most companies were booked out weeks ahead of time. I'll be honest - Elite, while on my short list - was NOT the first operation I called, mainly due to its then lower number of yelp reviews (despite the stellar nature of the reviews, there just weren't that many - something I'm trying to address here). In fact the first movers I called told me they were booked solid for several weeks, but after some engaging banter they recommended Elite and suggested I call Rudy. Now I don't know about you, but when a small business gives one of its competitors a big recommendation and a referral I tend to pay attention - especially when both groups are locally owned operations in a town where everyone knows everyone else. So I gave Rudy a call, and within an hour - yes, ONE hour - he was at my place assessing the items to be moved, providing sage wisdom on proper packing techniques, giving a very reasonable estimate, and then finalizing plans for a move including multiple drop off locations a few days later. Bing, bang, boom - sold. 5 stars on communication, speed, and efficiency alone. Rudy even texted me later that evening with some additional options for premium packing materials that could be left around glass bookshelves that I wanted to store longer term in a sealed facility and he quoted me the specific prices for any add-ons. Totally transparent, and very much appreciated. While the move day was frantic, Rudy and his crew moved like the wind: whether it was the exceptional shrink wrapping and padding of delicate electronics equipment and furniture, the shockingly fast disassembly of a large storage shed, or the hilariously efficient Tetris-style fitting together of objects in the back of Rudy's moving truck - barely leaving any room for air flow let alone loose objects of which there were none - these guys were clearly pros. Now Rudy will tell you he's particularly proud of the aforementioned Tetris skills and this came in doubly handy because as part of this move we were dropping by a big self-storage facility en route to my final destination. I wasn't really sure what size unit to obtain and was over-estimating what I needed - of course with additional cost to me. But when Rudy completed the final packing he accurately estimated he could fit everything I intended on storing in a much smaller unit than I had planned for; this saved me quite a bit in monthly fees with the storage company. Quite frankly, Rudy's crew unpacked those items and stacked them so effectively in the storage unit that not only did I have ample room to move around, but now I'm also guilty every time I go in there and move anything because I can't possibly put it back together as well! Reading some of these other reviews, you notice people say "hustling" quite frequently. Well this is a spot-on assessment - Rudy's crew (and in particular Rudy) seem to draw from some well of boundless energy and just do not stop until your items are all at their final destination AND also positioned to your liking. Want to use them for some minor interior decorating/re-design at your target destination? Go right ahead! Not a peep of pushback from the crew when I kept requesting that they reposition an incredibly heavy table a few inches at a time. Yes, they may have thought I was crazy and demanding, but they did it with a smile, a can-do attitude, and never complained at all (to my face anyway, they probably had plenty to say afterwards regarding my absurdly large and heavy reference book collection - my apologies for that, gentlemen). Bottom line, they may be a smaller outfit than a big corporate moving company, but Rudy/Elite Movers was responsive, affordable, transparent, efficient, energetic, deliberate, and ultimately very pleasant to deal with. I wish all small business owners all the best and in particular hope that Rudy continues to expand his operation. This is a tough, physically unforgiving business, but he takes the unpleasantness out of a move and shoulders the burden himself. Strong work! read more
