I am giving a five star because I could not have been happier with our move. Jerry Durham was friendly, helpful and answered everyone of my questions. Moving day was stress free, the crew was awesome, helpful and had everything under control. Victor our driver was on time had full control over his crew, very knowledgeable. Seeing Victor on the otherside of the move was reassuring, again on time with a new crew they were wonderful, great with our things. Set up tables, beds, Washmachine and dryer. Didn't take the guys long to get everything done. If you are moving across country give them a call. I can't comment on anyone else but we had a great experience with this moving company. read more

Don't use this company. I have never had this terrible moving experience among 12 moving in 15 years. I had the same bad experience as other reviewers. They did not show up on time on the day of moving out. Two inexperienced youn men appeared instead of four for this "total packing" moving. They did not even bring professional moving tape cutters or cutters. They only brought cheap thing tapes and rip them off using their hands and teeth. One guy did not speak or understand English at all. The other guy was busy putting stickers on the boxes and keep documenting the number of the stickers. It took more than 8 hours for them to finish, only with my families helping and self-packing. This was for a minimalist family's 3 BR moving. Move in day was horrible as well. It took more than 4 hours. My new furnitures and picno were ripped and scratched. They even opened my new can drinks without permission. The worst thing is that they charged more after completion of the moving, claiming that the weight of the items were more than the pre-moving estimate. So funny that there is "guarantee not to exceed the estimate" comment in the contract sheet. Do not use this company. read more

Watch these guys like a hawk! They walked off with over $2K worth of items. Anything they could put in their pocket or stash in the truck of even minimal value they didn't arrive. Some blame on me for not keeping on them for inventorying each piece getting on the truck and having someone watching each of the packers. read more

Driver David was excellent. DO NOT trust Jerry the estimator. He will tell you whatever to get the contract sign. I showed him a laser engraving machine I had. Showed the crating material for it and ensured me it would be loaded onto the truck without the need of a forklift. When the loaders arrived they told me I had to rent the forklift. At the tune of an additional $1,200 Alex moving and Storage would not compensate additional fee I incurred even though Jerry stated it would not be needed. So after paying over $30,000, I had the additional fee of $1,200. Communication with the office, Yumma, was unprofessional. Stated she would call me back and after a week, no return call. Spoke to Jasmine who stated she would call back that afternoon, no return call. Should have gone with the lesser company that told me they would have a forklift at the load and unload. Sad thing is I told Jerry this and he again ensured me a forklift was not needed. Needless to say, we did have some damaged property so now filing that claim. Can't say I am confident in that process but will see. read more

This is the absolute worst company I have ever dealt with in my life. Husband and wife run the company who are incompetent on how to run a business. There were issues from the get go.... WORD OF ADVICE- DO NOT PUT DOWN A CREDIT CARD FOR CHARGES!! MAKE SURE THEY DISCUSS ALL CHARGES WITH YOU PRIOR TO YOU PAYING BECAUSE THEY OVERCHARGE ON EVERYTHING!! Here is the list of all the issue that we had... 1. We needed to grab some items from storage on a couple of different occasions- they stated the fee for each visit but were not clear on the fact that it was an hourly rate PER EMPLOYEE who sat around and did NOTHING!! 2. Scheduled a delivery date for items-called a day before to confirm since they didn't call....they didn't have it on their schedule. I had installations scheduled and had to beg and plea to get the items delivered on the day that it was scheduled. 3. Two unprofessional movers came and were not efficient or diligent in their work. Stole fruit from my new neighbors yard and were not by any means careful with any of my items. They ended up shattering my one mirrored credenza. 4. Filed a claim....they gave me a $90 check for a $3000 piece of furniture. The insurance that was pre-selected for us only gave you $.90 a pound and they felt that $90 was fair. When we started the move they did not once go through the insurance options because I know we would always chose the full coverage. 5. They overcharged me for the hours that the movers put in. Movers lied about the hours that they worked and they overcharged me quite a bit. This all happened about a year ago (February 8, 2019) and I have been so distraught and angry with the service that it took me this long to actually write a review. Tried to talk to management about it....the wife is just as bad as the service provided. I HIGHLY recommend anyone to not use this company at all!!! I had my friend who stored his own stuff there have another moving company pick it up from their storage unit and have it delivered....it was that bad!! Now to pay it forward with someone that is reliable and gives 100% coverage... They tried moving my stuff and before I signed the contract I read it fully and these people are running a scam. Very dishonest, I would never recommend them to anyone else. I always read the fine print, and when I called them out on everything I was hung up on and couldn't reach them anymore. Completed damaged porcelain collection, claimed by Jerry Durham to not be covered by any insurance. When the claim was filed, a fraudulent Word document was sent with insurance details never discussed during the transaction. In other words, they'll take your money but won't take any accountability for damage, loss or theft. Items were not just poorly packed locally, broken in transit, but also missing. It all started with Jerry Durham, who was very professional, thorough, responsive, and friendly. We needed to move our mother's furniture & belongings from Oregon to Ventura and Jerry arranged it. He walked us through the estimate to make sure we understood all the costs, insurance options, etc. We noticed some negative reviews from customers who were surprised at final costs, and can't help but wonder if they didn't take the time to ask questions and understand the process up front. A cross-country move is a daunting undertaking due to the many unavoidable variables, so it's important to understand all the variables from the beginning, and we couldn't ask for someone more clear, thorough, and honest than Jerry. The driver, Luke, was friendly, professional, and was an excellent communicator. His helpers were careful with all the furniture, which arrived without a scratch. Before choosing Alex Moving & Storage, we got estimates from competitors and they were all higher, which confirmed our decision. The final cost was exactly what was estimated - it was a guaranteed price and we didn't need any extra services (extra stop, waiting time, etc.). My neighbors are using this moving service. The truck driver is parked in a place where he is blocking a fire lane, a major walkway, handicap access to the side walk and elevator. I tried to ask them to move there truck so it wouldnt block residents and they stated it would take too much of their time. This company is the worst. We moved to Texas and our stuff was supposed to be here on Friday or Saturday. We received an email stating that the company would arrive Monday or Tuesday. They actually arrived on Monday but they had no tools to put our stuff together. Also, the day after when I was unpacking I realized I was missing stuff which ended up being 35 boxes. It took another month to get the remainder of our 35 boxes, vacuum cleaner, weights, and other items. I would not recommend them to anyone because the Customer service is horrible. Why am I not surprised by these reviews...I even see someone who also had an issue with an IKEA order who uses this company to ship out items. They suck at it. Brought half my order and informed me they forgot part of my order at the warehouse. Told me they would deliver it later (did not specify when so I asked for a contact number) Did not hear from them the next week so I contacted them. They had it but weren't coming my way for another week or two so wouldn't be able to deliver it till then (mind you, they are only an hour from my house and it was their mistake that it was left) I told them I was out of town, is there anything she could do...no. That's the answer I got. Then I called them when I was back in town and no one could find my item. I called 4 days in a row, every day they told me someone would call me later that day or tomorrow...this never happened. I eventually cancelled my order with IKEA. These people suck. They snapped a leg off of a 150 year old table and lost another one. They arrived 4 days late and never called with updates. If you are moving, sell your stuff or rent a U-Haul and move yourself, you will do a better job, why? Because it's your stuff and you care about it, they don't. I would not use this company! The agent was great - but once he was out of the picture - the movers and driver were terrible! This is our 5th relocation and our worst! They repacked the truck after they left our house and combined other people's belongings with ours. They did not check off the inventory list when they unloaded the truck - it was a mess! They broke a 60" TV and we are still missing other items. The driver never called us with updates and they showed up late. The workers complained constantly. The damage and missing items were not reimbursed. I do not recommend this company! read more

Ikea needs to use a different freight company. On a Wednesday I was told they had no staff to process orders. Sounds like a them problem, not a me problem. If I had to move a whole house, how could I expect not to be sleeping on the floor if they can't even deliver 3 items (a bed+box springs). HAH. The agent was terrible and couldn't figure out that she needed a tracking code (which I offered her first). She asked me for my ikea order and said it was "too long" but by then I had closed out the window with my tracking number. Jesus, do you know how to do your job or nah? Frankly, I wish it was just shipped via UPS Freight or Fedex Freight. At least then I can get some real customer service. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They did not provide the service we paid for. We moved from CA to GA; however we needed to store our entire household for 7 months. It was our understanding that our belongings would be loaded into large crates, stored in a climate controlled warehouse in CA, reloaded onto a truck and moved to GA. Our belongings were not only unloaded from the crates, but our packed boxes were unpacked and REpacked with other random items. Upon arrival of the truck in GA, the truck was packed so full that boxes were crushed. There was not a moving crew scheduled to help unload. Day-laborers (from over an hour away) arrived 2 hours after the truck to unload it. Keep in mind, we paid for professional movers, NOT day-laborers. Many of our belongings are damaged and some larger items (including an antique rocking chair) are still missing. Not only were our items mistreated, we had boxes from another customer (also on the same truck) unloaded into our home. We contacted the company regarding all our issues and requested compensation for damage and missing items. We contacted Allied Van Lines and were given the run around, were told we were out-of-luck and received zero compensation. This was the worst moving experience we have ever had in the four long-distance moves we have had. DO NOT USE Alex Moving & Storage. DO NOT USE North American Moving Services. read more

I am so happy that I picked this company for my move to Arizona. I got 3 bids for the job. They were all similar in price, but this was the only company that suggested crating our artwork. They showed up on time as promised and completed the work as we agreed. They got our furniture to our new home faster than I expected and everything arrived in great shape. No damages. Don't ever hire this company. North American is a great vanline, however how the local agent, Alex Moving & Storage, has a good reputation is beyond me. I hired this company because I had used a North American agent before and had a great experience. (Sandercock transfer in San Luis Obispo is amazing). Alex moving & storage wouldn't give me an exact drop-off date for my goods. Ultimately, the date that my goods were delivered also happened to be my first day at a new job. This was the situation I was trying to avoid when I was scheduling. I had to arrive late on my first day so that I could let them in and start the unloading process, and alsohave a friend available to sign for everything when they were finished. When the man showed up & opened the truck, I just about had a hernia due to how the good were packed in the truck. Moving and loading is like tetris, and he clearly failed. Small boxes were underneath larger ones, furniture was on top of boxes, and boxes labeled "fragile, top pack only" on all 6 sides had boxes packed on top of them. As they loaded all my goods into the storage unit, they again took no care into loading the goods like a game of tetris. It was all about getting in & out. My bike was placed on top of my headboard & mattresses. Again, heavy boxes were on top of large ones, and heavy boxes on top of light ones. If there was an earthquake, much more damage would have been caused. Additionally, the top shelf of my bookcase was caved in and broken. When I called to express my dissatisfaction, I only ever got to speak to MAribel, the woman who schedules the move. I needed to speak to the manager, who didn't ever return my calls until after 2 weeks of being annoying. As part of my grievance, I wanted them to pay to hire movers to return to the storage unit so that my stuff could be more organized, safe and not damaged. They refused--even after I filed claims with the Better Business Bureau. Luckily I had good, strong friends who were willing to help. I'm sorry, but the point of hiring movers is so that you don't have to recruit the help of your friends. I could have saved a lot of time, energy & stress if I hadn't hired this ridiculous company with no experience in handling of goods nor customer service. read more

From the start of this experience to the finish, it has been nothing short of the most horrible moving experience ever. From verbally abusive insubordinate staff to making myself fear for my own personal safety with their crews. The contact at this company has been very little or no help in rectifying any of my issues with verbal abuse, property loss and damage or proper compensation. Jerry came to my home and made a thorough inventory list of our items and we received a very detailed quote for our cross-country move. Their price was competitive. Other companies I spoke to wanted me to provide my own inventory list before they would write a quote. How was I supposed to know how many boxes and what sizes I needed? Alex Moving & Storage packed our entire house, and they did a great job. The crew showed up promptly, was extremely careful with our belongings, and worked hard to get everything done. The crews that loaded and unloaded were equally careful and pleasant throughout the entire arduous task. Great team! Just had Alex move me from LA to NY. They brought my belongings to S & D Transfer in NJ till my apartment was ready. S & D, also North American Van agents, completed the job and were also terrific. My stuff, including delicate art and equipment all arrived in tact, and I was always able to talk with someone throughout the one month process. LOVE THEM!!! Had them move my family from CA to VA. WAAAAAY better than the other movers who took us from NC to CA. We experienced very minimal damage, like maybe 2 or 3 non expensive things which are easily replaceable or repaired, which insane considering how much stuff we had and how far we moved. Jerry Durham was professional with my moving estimate, however, the movers and office staff were horrible and dishonest. They did not have the proper supplies to move my mattress or load my golf cart. They had to return to the shop with the truck to get a ramp. The office staff tried to change my delivery date on the day they arrived to pack my belongings to a date beyond the range I provided. They don't verify that you received everything they loaded. I am missing a ladder and was told I would get photos to see if I can identify the missing ladder. I have received nothing. I'm done with this company and would NOT recommend them. read more

If I could give this company a negative 1000 stars I would. Due to their incompetence, negligence, or worst, we lost everything we own when we trusted them to store our belongings for a short time and then move us to our new home. While we will never know the true and complete story, they allegedly moved our belongings from their storage facility, packed them in a shipping container on a trailer, and then left the container in their unsecured parking lot. The container disappeared one night and they "assumed" it had been picked up by a freight forwarder (Without any authorizing paperwork or a manifest? Really??!) They supposedly did not discover the container had actually been stolen for three weeks and did not report the theft to the police until then, long after the trail was cold. Their sales agent, the police detective, and our private investigator all told us they believe it was an inside job, but good luck proving it. At the time of the move, we had just retired and had trusted Alex to move a lifetime of precious family photos, heirlooms and works of art, along with all of our furniture and household items to our new home out of state. After the theft, all that we had left was the clothing in our suitcases and our dogs, the only things we could bring with us on the plane. Furniture, dishes, pots and pans can be replace, but every single photo of our children as infants and precious rememberances of family members now gone cannot be replaced. Our lives will never be the same thanks to this company. As difficult as the loss was to accept, the attitude of Alex and North American Van Lines was even worse. Alex would not even return our initial calls to him and instead had his salesperson call us back. When we did eventually speak with him, he told us they were in the process of reviewing their security cameras to see if they could discover more information about the theft. We later discovered that they have no security cameras. We had to repeatedly demand reimbursement for the $20K we had paid up front for them to move our belongings once it was clear there were no belongings to move. Yes, we were eventually paid, but it took nearly three months, and we certainly could have used that money in those first three months to replace essentials we desperately needed. Here's a summary of my recent delivery experience with this company: Original scheduled delivery date - no contact form alex moving. 4 days later - Jasmine called me saying that a driver would call the next day and delivery would be made. Next day - no call from driver all day. Call Jasmine, she lies and says she has proof that the delivery driver came to the house. I was here all day no call, no knock, nothing. We schedule a delivery 2 days later. 2 days later - Delivery guy shows up without any call ahead of time. He only has 6 of the 9 packages that we ordered. He says that the rest of them are LOST in the storage facility. Has no idea when they'll be coming to me. Call Jasmine - gives me the same information. A week later - After calling Jasmine several times she finally says that they've found the packages. Schedule a delivery 2 days later. 2 days later - driver arrives only has 2 of the 3 remaining. Has no idea that there even was a third. Call jasmine and talk to her boss. He argues with me for about half an hour and was incredibly rude saying that it wasn't the company's fault. Next day - somehow, miraculously we were able to get out final package. This whole experience was absurd. I have never dealt with a company as UNPROFESSIONAL as this one. They can't even keep track of packages within their own storage facility and they will have no qualms flat out lying to you about it. Do NOT trust any positive reviews. read more

We have moved several times in our life, this is the first experience in which they LOST/STOLE and item of ours! There was also damage to other pieces. It started with when they came to pick up the furniture they wrapped the furniture in flimsy brown paper, they did not protect the legs and had one skinny guy moving the heavy pieces. The reason why we went with this higher priced mover is because we were told all pieces would be blanket wrapped. I called and complained and they were told to blanket wrap, but by then only a few more pieces were left. Now the brochure clearly shows that they blanket wrap. On top of that while we were charged for boxing the mattresses they only put the king size in half a box. We were told they did not have it in the truck, but when it got to the warehouse it would be boxed. Later when they delivered it, it was obvious that they NEVER BOXED IT since it was delivered in the same way that it was put on the truck. We had to store the furniture for a few weeks. The day they were to deliver when the truck got here they said the job was too hard and they would be back on Monday. (It was a busy moving day in our building) When my husband said that he was planning on giving each of them a tip (on top of what we had to pay the company) at the end of the move did they decide to work. I had several boxes marked FRAGILE with this end up clearly marked only to find that they were laid flat on top of each other! There is obviously no training of this staff. Then when I asked about our missing piece of furniture they said it would be delivered on Monday. I called on Monday to ask when I could expect them and no one in the office seemed to know what I was talking about. So I was lied to! Now Maria in the office was very good at trying to followup on the search for our piece of furniture, the only bright spot. I am suspicious that the "supervisor" did not work very hard to find our furniture based on his staff and their lack of wanting to do a great job in delivering. I usually skew favorable on reviews because I see how hard people work, this is the first time that I ever felt the lowest rating was still too high! read more
