I'll make an exception here - Elite Cafe is a place I return to over and over. I cannot get enough of the mexican quesadilla. But when I restrain myself from re-ordering the old favorite, I am rewarded with something else delicious, like the fish tacos. And always order the truffle fries as sides! The food is great! I threw a surprise birthday party here for my sister and all of her friends loved the food! The waiter was kind enough to let us eat and laugh about old times (we are paying customers, after all), but the manager was rude and kept telling us to hurry up and leave, even though we reserved a day in advance! When I made a reservation at the cafe they apparently never got it. So I had to wait an hour, when I finally got to the table the waiters dropped a couple of the utensils on the floor and then picked it up from the floor and placed back on to the table. When I told the manager about this, he totally ignored me. The food was unpleasant and the people are rude and uneasy. read more

Had lunch at this cafe on Sunday - seems like HIgh School Students are the waiters - worst service I have ever encountered - Israeli salad come with onions - they say no - of course with onions - my friend orders potatoes - comes with salad instead - ask for water at least 5 times - coffee without spoons - of course the eggs come back cold - these kids should not be waiters - waiters and kitchen are not communicating - 2 out of 3 meals are wrong . Walked in and the place was packed. Asked how long the wait was for a party of 4. Was about 10 minutes so we waited. Got seated and then had to add 4 more to the party. My favorite restaurant in Kew Gardens Hills. The environment created is modern and casual. Every time I visit Queens, I go at least twice during my stay. So first time I came with a bunch of friends. Took forever to be seated and food was crap. About 7 months later, I figured I'd try again. I had to seat myself and after 5 minutes of no one coming over (the servers were sitting in a corner joking around) I left without anything. Stupidly I tried again a week later hoping for different servers. They were different, and service was just passable. I came in again a day later, and again took forever to get seated, and it took forever to place an order. I had to hold up my menu to get the attention of someone in the corner. I only stayed because I wanted to see how long it took to get service-18 minutes, and that was with only two other tables occupied. This restaurant will no longer receive my business ever. Even if I was on the cusp of starvation, I expect I'd die before someone at "Crappy" Cafe comes to help. read more

This is based on the service. After waiting for a few minutes I saw no staff & seated myself with my elderly cousin,10 minutes later at 12:45pm yesterday, Sunday I went to the counter since the wait staff did not notice us and helped myself to menus. Another 10 minutes later after helping 2 other tables a waitress came with empty cups and walked away.About 5 minutes later a waitress came and took our orders. She was neither pleasant or unpleasant. However the food was delicious. Our plates were removed I guess because there were big portions desserts were not offered. We agreed we would return again for the food however if the service remains partial self serve and poor table service we probably will not continue to despite the quality of the food. read more

First yelping ever. I'm a foodie, and always find myself skeptical about trying new places unless I have gotten positive feedback. A few weeks ago, I tried Elite the first night they were open and was favorably impressed. The service was great and my waiter had an awesome commend of the menu! She knew what everything was and was able to explain it to my wife, who is less of a foodie then I. The food arrived in a timely manner and water and bread were refilled promptly. The first time I went, I ordered standard menu items, and was very happy. I just went back a second time and ordered two items that were off the menu. Both arrived as specified. My family ordered takeout on August 10th. One of the dishes we ordered was the sweet potato salad. This is more of a review of this dish than the restaurant itself but I wasn't impressed with the answer I got when I told them about the following issue. The menu says this salad comes with stir-fried sweet potatoes. What I got was sweet potato fries on the salad. The former is obviously much healthier. When I called to complain they said they'd call back but did not. When I called back, the manager (Eddie?) claimed that sweet potato fries are the same thing as stir-fried potatoes. They're not. It's like claiming potatoes and fries are the same thing. He said only one other person has complained about this and everyone who orders this salad loves the fries. He confirmed that in the future if one orders this salad, it will still be (frozen) stir-fried sweet potato fries that you get, not stir-fried sweet potato and that the menu will not be updated to reflect the misleading wording. He didn't offer (and I didn't ask for) a reimbursement for the dish or a discount for a future order. I would have given them 2 stars was it not for the fact that the manager was SUPER nice when I spoke with him. read more

This is my wife's and my go to place for dairy cuisine and desserts! I was there last night and thought I should finally write a review. The food is amazing. I personally like their soup, whether French onion or the cream soup of the day (last night I had split pea, which was amazing). Their sushi is great and my wife is very picky with sushi, but we love the sushi here, especially the Godzilla roll. I love all of their panini combos and their raviolli spinach is great. Even their regular Mac and cheese is great, it's so simple but delectable. The waiters are very good at guiding you to your choice, so if you ever need help they will do a very good job. They have great desserts and crepes. Although service is usually great, last night was a little understaffed, but I guess nobody is perfect. I am really glad they are here on Main Street, I always said that we needed a place like this and now that they are here I hope they are here to stay! read more

Came in with my friends for a late dinner. We ordered 2 salads : the sweet potato and salmon teriyaki. The sweet potatoe was good except the sweet potato was in fries form. It's kind of cheapened it. And the salad was awesome I just feel like they should have done the sweet potato differently. And the salmon teriyaki was delicious but a bit too much of the teriyaki sauce. But still both very good. I asked for dressing and croutons on the side and they actually take your requests. Other places I went to just say ok and I end up having to pick it out myself. The Israel cheesecake is amazing. Very light and fluffy. Latte was perfect. And bread and butter was heavenly. Service was great as well. Our waitress was very sweet and made us feel welcome. If I'm not eating Sushi, I am at Elite Cafe!! Great breakfast, great regular coffee, good menus. Staff is very friendly. HIGHLY recommend this Cafe. As a side note, I used to be bothered seeing employees anywhere chewing gum. Found it unprofessional. It's nothing of how I feel seeing employees on their cell phones while waiting for the next thing to come up. I believe employees are paid to be working and giving their entire attention to the business. I'd like to see cell phones banned from all workplaces (unless ip used for work of course). Customers should not have to feel they need to interrupt someone for service. This doesn't specifically apply to the wonderful Elite Cafe. But I see this most places I go. I went to Elite Cafe because reviews weren't as bad and I've heard from other people about it. I'm a big fan of cafe muscat, but I got tired from the same place, so decided to try this dairy place on main street. When we got there early evening with my kids, it was almost empty, not crowded at all. We sat down and took a few minutes for the waiter to come and give us the menu. I gave it one star only because the menus are digitalized and my kids were occupied with the tablet. So the menu seemed promising also because it had nice pictures and beautiful descriptions. However, the food was not as beautiful as the menu! First, we were waiting for a waiter to give us the piece of bread and we had to ask for more because 4 little pieces of bread wasn't enough for a family of 5! I actually prefer different spreads with it, but it only came with cheap butter that I can find on a plane. I ordered Grandma panini and basically I only tasted tomato sauce (barely tasted pesto) and lots of cheese...it was a messy panini. The israeli salad didn't taste as fresh. I ordered for the kids the falafel plate but they didn't have falafel so I just asked for humos and pita. Well, the humos tasted like it was bought in a supermarket! My husband than just ordered hot coffee and it wasn't as hot. So basically, the food was really nothing special...I'd go there unless you're starving and don't have anywhere else to go. But really, I can make that food at home and even better! It's really nothing special food. I don't know why some people like it...maybe they just don't cook at home. read more

Had 3 Alfredo pasta dishes, the advertised creamy sauce was nothing more than milk with pepper and parsley. I would skip those dishes. The salads were nice and large. falafel was very good. They charge a dollar for a cut up pickle In a salad and another dollar for a few olives. Spent about 120.00 on dinner. Waiter said " it's only a dollar". guess he missed the point.
