Okay so, I'm never a fan of kosher Chinese food, but Soy Sauce deserves five-stars aside from the food. The food is fine, but their service is absolutely outstanding. I work at the Hillel at Queens College and our students often order from here for smaller events. I had to throw an event and our original catering plan fell through, so the day before I was left scrambling to get the most bang for my buck...or my organization's buck. Soy Sauce offers an amazing catering option at a low-cost, and their customer service blew me away. I worked with Gabriel and he was beyond attentive and he and I even texted about my order! Tonight I ordered a wonton soup, a vegetable egg role, sweet and sour chicken and Pam fried vegetable dumplings. The vegetable egg role was outstanding. Filled with cabbage (which I really like) and fried perfectly. The sweet and sour chicken was excellent. The chicken was very clean and the batter wasn't too heavy or over empowering. The sauce was perfectly balanced and I love that the vegetables weren't thrown in the sauce and we're in fact packaged with the chicken. Therefore, the vegetables weren't soggy and disgusting. I was really impressed and highly recommend trying this out. The pan fried veg dumplings we're also delicious. I think the dumplings we're just a bit too thick but their filling was delicious and fresh. What a great medley of vegetables. I loved it. I'm liking this place more and more and can't wait to try out some more stuff. My last tip for everyone is to notice all the things that are on the bar to your left when you walk in. The duck sauce, fortune cookies, utensils and the rest of those items are NOT packed in your take out so take what you need and please don't be greedy. So as a first time customer the food tastes pretty good Im just a little disappointed that I paid $17 for chicken in garlic sauce and I got a plate of 80% vegetables 20% chicken , its not worth the price, if Im paying this much for a large it should be enough to feed 2 people. If this place wants to have happy customers I recommend not to be so cheap on the chicken please, thanks. Great place. Ordered from them dozens of times. HIGHLY recommend. Huge menu, tried some items. Mongolian beef is great. Large portions. Great SPECIALS, lunch special and dinner ones are definitely good bang for your buck. The girls that answer the phone are rude but that's probably because they're so busy because they're so good. Most bad reviews they get are because of the rude people answering the phones. Surprisingly good! Very mixed reviews about this place, but hubby and I only eat Kosher Chinese food. We had a Groupon for this place and figured why not? We ordered the Hot& sour soup, scallion pancake and chicken chow fun. Soup was delicious! Definitely hit the spot. Scallion pancake had an excellent dipping sauce,but it was a touch too oily. Chow fun was OK, nothing special. Chicken in it as actually pretty good. Overall, loved that they had a great menu with lots to choose from. I placed an order on a Sunday. I got chicken broccoli (mainly broccoli) And sesame chicken (mainly yellow rice) I ordered from seamless- I must say it came rather quick but the food was really bad. The chicken broccoli was tasteless and the sesame chicken had more batter around the chicken then the chicken itself. It was for kids to eat and they ate the little chicken that there was from the chicken broccoli but they could not eat the sesame chicken - it was too hard and you can hardly taste chicken in there. read more

We were hard-pressed to find a good new take-out place that delivers to our neighborhood. Moreso because a member of our group only eats strictly Kosher. We stopped at Queens Pita for sweets and saw SoySauce open (right next door), where we ordered our staple Chinese Take-Out staples. The steamed dumplings were alright, but the General Tao's Chicken was remarkable -- VERY fresh and tasty. When you say "spicy please" they listen and don't skimp on flavor. I purchased a Groupon deal for Soysauce worth $30. Not fully reading the details when I purchased the Groupon, I later noticed that I couldn't use it for the lunch menu. Therefore, we decided to select food from the dinner combo. We ordered the not spicy chicken with garlic sauce dinner combo for $14.45. This was served with egg fried rice, meat egg roll and a chicken noodle soup. We also ordered the empress chicken dinner combo platter for $14.45. This was served with egg fried rice, a meat egg roll and hot and sour soup. Overall, the food was okay; nothing special when compared to other Chinese food restaurants. It did not give me stomach pains which I sometimes get from other Chinese restaurants and the food did not give me MSG side affects which is always positive. However, something was a bit off and I still can not identify what was missing. The two biggest disappointments were the meat egg rolls which were small and dry and the chicken noodle soup. The soup was bland and barely had any noodles or chicken. It tasted like they took chicken stock and just poured noodles and processed chicken. The hot and sour soup was good and not so spicy, which was similar to the empress chicken. This was labeled as spicy but wasn't at all. Deal-wise I do not feel I got a good deal. I spent as much as I would have spent in my regular Chinese food restaurant which has much better food. Also, the distance I had to drive to reach Soysauce was not worth it. I don't regret purchasing food from Soysauce but I don't think the value and the food is worth visiting this restaurant again. read more

Whoever is giving this place 5 stars is seriously missing something in their lives. It's EXTREMELY important to realize that this is a takeout place (sometimes you can sit on a stool and use an elevated platform to eat your food there ... seats roughly 4). I'm going to have to rate their lunch special 4 out of 5 stars because it happens to be a wonderful price. Besides their lunch special, "Soy Sauce" is not up to par with other kosher Chinese restaurants, especially because prices are very similar. If you do happen to go here, MENTION certain deals or sign up on their email list so that you get your money's worth. The owner happens to be a friendly guy who will give you honest advice, unlike many other restaurants on Main Street. 3.15/5.00 +1 for the easy access fortune cookies -2 for: 0.99$ for a can of soda instead of a soup. How much is the soup worth then? Update (July 2018): It took me some time to realize that the emails saying "your 4 day coupon has arrived!" (or something of the sort) are quite different from the standard 'percentage off' discount. I understand the general sale tactic of the owner which, when his business would offer you a deal, you (the customer) would perhaps purchase additional items or simply get the "deal" as it is. Either way the business is making $$ --OK great. "Soysauce", however does not really work in giving an excellent deal. Because there are too many rules and nuances with what is supposed to be a simple $4 coupon is essentially fairly less than that ,,, the first reason being that you must spend atleast $20. So ... that's a 20% coupon (not horrible) ... PRE-TAX ,,, so the MINIMUM you're going to spend is $21.775 (with NYC sales tax of 8.875%) ,,, now you've been reduced from saving 20% to 18.369% --most likely off an item you never really wanted in the first place. Did I forget to mention that not one item is exactly $20? Oh, and you must call to get this offer, nor can you use it with a lunch special (or other special). The food had no salt or spices at all. The chicken broccoli was mostly rice and barely had any sauce or flavor. Not cool, seeing as we ordered this food for a pre-work get together. I'm sad to say that this place just wasn't good. I got a beef fried rice that had zero flavor. Ironically, it could have used soy sauce.

I found a Groupon deal on this place and thought I'd try it out. I've never tried Kosher before. I ordered take out for Sweet and Sour Chicken with Fried Rice for my boyfriend and Fried Chicken Wings for myself. We waited about 10 minutes before going in to pick up the order, and it was already ready. I'm glad service was quick, but it was questionable. The Fried Chicken Wings didn't taste very good. It didn't seem properly fried and parts of it tasted soggy. And I swear I even found a feather stuck on one of them. On another piece of chicken, there were A FEW quills still lodged in. I was not impressed. My boyfriend didn't enjoy his food either. He said it didn't taste sour nor sweet. He had to "add the sour and sweet" himself. He thought it was bland and the fried rice wasn't really fried. Also, a bit expensive for a "regular size" Sweet and Sour Chicken. $9 for small and $15 for regular? You can spend about $6 for their regular size at any other standard place and it would taste SO much better. And you won't find things that will gross you out in the food. So, yeah, nothing has changed with regards to my opinion of this place. Although I thank those for finding humor in my experience, because yeah, it was a riot! LOL. Anyway, the only thing that has changed is that before you order, they ask for a credit card number. Why the EF would you need a credit card number, if I'm paying you in cash?
