Such a good new spot to try in Pleasanton! We came here for my parent's anniversary dinner and were thoroughly satisfied with the meal. The restaurant is situated in downtown Pleasanton. There is a good outdoor dining spot. The only complaint that we had about the outdoor dining was that there were a ton of flies all over. The indoor dining decor was very cute and trendy. All of the dishes were very good but our favorite main dishes has to have been the kotopoulo souvlaki, risotto, and arnisia paidakia. All of the dishes were cooked perfectly. The chicken was really tender and not dry. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly and not dry. The risotto was flavorful and not too salty. The desserts were all good also. We've dined here several times and it would've been a 5 star review if it hadn't been for an uninterested, rude waiter that we ended up with for my brother in law's birthday celebration. He brought out the desert with the candle with a annoyed look on his face and walked away after lighting it. Not as much a happy birthday from him. Celebrated birthdays here last Friday with some friends. The decor inside has a variety of gorgeous blue hues, and I instantly felt happy. I wasn't in the mood for meat, so I had the salad, and shared veggie appetizers with the table. Everything was delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and unforgettable. The herbs/seasoning made every bite of cucumber, tomato, olives so satisfying and exquisite. They have a pita bread and another little rustic bread served in baskets- very much worth the carbs! My friends ordered and thoroughly enjoyed lobster, octopus, and many other options that will never cross my lips. If you're comfortable with high volume, this place is hopping on a Friday night. There was upbeat music, flaming cheese (it's SO good), and exotic cocktails. I can't remember the name of my favorite drink, it was spicy and called fire of "something or other." I didn't care for the Evil Eye, it was like drinking blue Pepto Bismol. Our server was great, and we had a wonderful time. I need to be truthful with my fellow yelpers and say that the staff definitely are not equal or on the same page when it comes to being professional and courteous. When we first arrived, I was standing closer to the entrance and waiting to be seated at our table by the door. Not one, but TWO servers majorly bumped into me- with zero acknowledgment. I originally thought it was rude or impatient customers. I was pretty surprised when I turned and realized that it was the young men rushing around the restaurant. "Pardon me, or Excuse Me" would have been the correct response. Someone at the table next to us spilled (but didn't break) an entire glass of wine. Their server looked down and appeared aloof as he walked away. Another server approached and stepped over the giant red puddle. Then finally a third server walked up and stuck a hazard cone on top of it. It's very fortunate that no one slipped and fell into Lake Pinot Noir. From my view the staff reminded me of young kids saying " Not my job, I didn't do it, and Not it!" I understand the hustle and bustle of working in a busy restaurant, and maybe it was just an off- night. We were brought some very tasty baklava and a sparkler lit on it for a fun birthday dessert. We also ordered a really impressive tower of beverages (see the photos). During the afternoon it's quiet, bright, and lovely. The evening scene is a whole different vibe and the vibe is like being somewhere a lot more lively, exciting, and entertaining than Pleasanton. The food is excellent, and it's quite the experience/atmosphere. Their bar also looks like a lot of fun. Came here for the first time to celebrate an anniversary, it was a Thursday night and I did make a reservation but it wasn't really needed at 6pm it did get busier throughout the time were were there and definitely would suggest a reservation anytime after 7. The Decor is also super cute and makes you feel as if you are in the Mediterranean. When I made my reservation it asked if we were celebrating anything and I did check the anniversary option, they were sweet enough to print our menus with a little happy anniversary emblem on the top and we were told happy anniversary by our hostess and waiter. The food was absolutely delicious. They give complementary bread rolls and olive tapenade to start. We also order the tzatziki as an appetizer, the main dishes were also delicious highly recommended the halibut and the filet. They also brought out a complimentary piece of baklava for our anniversary and it was delicious! Drinks were also good, and definitely strong. Elia is such a cute place to have breakfast/brunch at. Dinner too! I came across Elia when I was looking at places to eat around Dublin a couple months ago, and ended up bookmarking this for later. Finally got to try this spot with a friend of mine and I'm so glad we had this together! My friend and I had made a reservation for 11:15 AM for an early lunch (just in case) and when we arrived, there were a couple people, but this place sorta started filling up pretty quickly! There were so many yummy choices on the menu, but we ended up going with 1) Pikilia (basically a combo platter), 2) Octapodaki, and 3) Larvaki. We wanted to be somewhat satisfied but still have room for dessert, because a yummy dessert is a must right?! As a complementary appetizer, they gave us some bread with a delicious olive oil dip. Can't complain about this because it's free after all, and it was pretty good! The Pikilia came with a lot of warm pita bread slices, and three different kinds of dip - tzatziki, melitzanosalata (roasted eggplants), and muhammara (roasted bell pepper). We both agreed that the roasted bell pepper dip was our favorite because it was flavorful and creamy. The eggplant dip was quite nice too, it's lighter and more refreshing than the roasted bell pepper dip. The tzatziki was alright. It's just something I usually avoid because it's yogurt (personal preference). Next came the Octapodaki, and I have to say, before I even tasted it, I knew it would be good! Why? It was really easy to cut into! The octopus was tender and had a slight soft chew. The salad that came with it was nice too. I liked the mix of bell pepper in there and the potato was interesting! Finally, our Larvaki, which seemed to be a popular menu item for Elia (also why we ended up ordering this as our entree). The Mediterranean sea bass was not dry and cooked until golden brown. I have to say the belly part was the best because there's more fish fat there, but there's obviously more meat at the top. The side salad that came with this dish was refreshing. There were lots of olives, capers, puffed quinoa, some beets and avocado, so a mix of different textures! I enjoyed it! Last but not least, the highly anticipated dessert!! We opted for their poached pear. The aesthetic of this was on point! I'm guessing it got it's color from red wine. The pear itself was slightly warm, but it's sitting on a bed of vanilla ice cream, so you got different temperatures going on. I initially thought there weren't enough pistachio bits, but the more you dig into it, the more you get. It's almost like treasure hunting, haha! We both loved the dessert and this has inspired us to maybe attempt to make this ourselves in the future. Aside from that, service was pretty good here too. They called me to confirm my reservation that day (made thru Open Table) and then printed the bday name on the menus and signed a card for him. Nice touch! The food was good! The warm bread with tapenade olive oil dip was a nice starter. I had the halibut with the coconut broth and mussels. Delicious! The fish was cooked well and the broth also made it not so dry as it was a pretty thick slice. The lobster bucatini was excellent. The sauce had a nice kick. Others had lamb, mousaka, etc. plates were cleaned.. Corkage fee is kind of pricey at $30. There is also a cake cutting fee so we decided to walk to the Meadowlark Dairy instead for dessert (#8 in the nation per Yelp). Great service! Only bad was one of the bus boys (man) knocked over an alcoholic beverage (shot) and then he replaced it with the smallest amount ever. Whatever he thought he spilled. This place is so nice! The service is very friendly and attentive and I believe the owner came up to our table and asked how we were doing too. Though the inside is beautiful, we sat outside and I liked everything that we ordered, especially the tuna tartare appetizer. The chicken skewers were great too, very tender. They even have a few mocktails for those who don't drink and the one I had was very nice and refreshing. My husband also noticed hat they had blankets at each seat, very thoughtful. Great food and service was good until we paid the bill. There was 8 of us and we split it 3 ways and tipped 20% on each bill and yet one of the bills was overcharged. Brought it to the waitress's attention since she made the error regardless how we told her the bill should be split, she still managed to screw up. She referred me to the manager and didn't want to fix it herself. Explained the issue to the manager 5 times and he finally resolved it. It's unfortunate how many restaurants nowadays would charge additional fees or overcharge you if you don't double ck. We really liked the food and it was our 2nd time dinning here, so this didn't sit well with us and not sure if we'll return. It was paired with a refreshing salad! This was one of my favorites 3) Larvaki (sea bass) - this is a good entree and was a good portion size. The fish was well cooked and nicely seasoned. 4) Poached Pear - this was so delicious. The pear was poached so nicely and wasn't overly sweet. TLDR - swanky greek, beautiful interior, reminds me of evvia in palo alto I love how Ptown is stepping up it's game with places nice enough for a date. One of my favorite restaurants in the bay area is Evvia in Palo Alto and while this is not the same it definitely reminds me of it when it comes to food quality. The exterior is great with heat lamps and a fountain/water feature. But the interior is some thing to enjoy. It reminded me of my time in Santorini and Mykonos seeing all the white washed walls and hints of blue in the artwork. Each table has it's own golden coat rack and bucket with ice which is not only practical but a nice aesthetic touch. Food was divine. Lamb chops cooked to perfection. Mousaka was delicious as well. The restaurant was quite empty when we arrived however after about 30 minutes most all tables were occupied. What a cute spot in the heart of downtown Pleasanton! The ambiance is super chic and really takes you to a Mediterranean vibe! The staff are super friendly and accommodating. They just got their alcohol license, so at the time I ate there, they didn't have a menu. I wanted something spicy and with mezcal and let me tell you, they delivered! As for the food, the flaming cheese was such a fun show. I'll admit, I underestimated how much cheese there really was. Don't let the physical appearance fool you! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The octopus was also delicious and plated beautifully. Highly recommend ordering the octopus as well. I usually like lamb, but I think the lamb shank was a bit too gamey for me. I would probably pass on that but all in all, I will definitely visit again to try other main dishes! read more
