UPDATE: Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I got a phone call from Tori Thursday, the morning after I posted the negative review, and she was so apologetic, many times over. She said she promised she would make it right and she sure did! I dropped my glasses off this morning (Friday) and she had them ready for me to pick up by 4 pm today! Im a very happy customer now with Vision Source! Thanks Tori! You are my hero! I'm ready for my vacation now! I purchased new lens for my frames the 3rd week in March. I was told it would take about 7 days to get them in. I let Zachery know that i would be on vacation but would be back by April 8th and would get them then. My sister brought my frames in for lens to be put in, but they told her they hadn't been ordered yet! Ive since called three times, asking when i could expect them, each time i haven't got an answer, only that they would let Beth know and to expect a phone call from her. No phone call, no email, no lens. Today is April 17th. You would think that after paying almost $600 for lens only, no frames, i would get better service than this! I definitely don't recommend this vision place for glasses, though i did like the Dr. I'm leaving for another vacation and it looks like i wont be getting them before i go. read more

Update: Went by today and talked to Sean. He was very understanding in addressing my concerns. He checked both pairs of glasses and determined the online glasses were a little stronger prescription. I payed extra for the scratch resistant lenses and with in a week they where already severely scratched as a long time glasses wearer I'm very knowledgeable on how to treat my glasses my last pair lasted me almost two years and I only switched because of my prescription now a month and a half into these they are so scratched I can't see out of them so what did the money I put into the scratch resistant do?? They are impossible to deal with and won't even try to work with me they won't refund me or give me a new pair they want to take the only pair I have and make me wait two weeks!! when we moved to elgin in 2020, i decided to check out elgin vision opposed to driving to austin. i had a negative experience the initial time, cold, rude with a hint of sarcasm and they were difficult to reach. fast forward to yesterday, my daughter mentioned she thought she needed her eyes checked so i decided to try elgin vision again. i ended up walking out and will forever return to my dr in austin, or anywhere else. the billing specialist was so condescending i decided i didn't even want to continue speaking with her. that's a first! read more

Took a break from Elgin Vision for the last 3 years and decided to go back. Horrible experience. Doc couldn't quite get my prescription right so I ended up telling them what I wanted and what my previous doc prescribed so they just took my word for it and ordered what I wanted. Since my appointment I have not been able to get a call back to get my trial lenses or order my contacts. They simply don't answer the phone and don't return voicemails. I have called every day and left messages to no avail. Anytime you go in, you're the only person in the entire office yet they claim they haven't had the time to get back to you with zero apology or acknowledgement of their lack of communication. Booked an appointment here for my son, got a confirmation text the day before to which we replied yes and was texted back -confirmed see you tomorrow! well the next day it appears the Dr took the day off, we were not notified and upon arrival was told by the front office that WE canceled our appointment (not true) so I showed them confirmation texts and was still lied to my face and told that indeed we canceled and that's what it shows on their end and that's what it is. This people lie to me about the cost. I ask three different persons about it and the coincide on the price. When I arrive they change the pricing almost double and if not they wouldn't run all the tests. I literally travel far away because of the price just to find out it was a lie. read more

Found this place on my insurance page and definitely have not regretted it. Doctor was extra attentive and was great with my 4 year old. I have terrible eyes and history of problems so he made sure to check my scars and vision well. The office staff (Beth) took care of my family of four and we're all happy with our glasses. We did pay the little extra for replacement insurance but that also has been a wonderful experience. We've had to replace 3 out of 4 glasses for various reasons. Beth is awesome! read more

Very disappointed!!!!! They family and I went in apx 5 weeks ago to new glasses for my self and get my wife and daughter's eyes checked out. Well, they told me I needed bifocals or a progressive glasses. An let them know that I have Vertigo bad due to injuries in my younger years and that my previous eye doctor told me it would not be a good idea to have bifocals or Progressive glasses. Well the kept pushing the progressive and told me that I would get use to them. Well after 3 days of wearing the glasses and getting puking sick , I took them back and told them they were making sick and I wanted to go back to my single lenses. ( It took 3 weeks to get the first set of glasses ) So they sent them back to have the single lens installed. Then 2 weeks later ( today ) they arrive. I was happy to have them! It's been 5 weeks with out seeing. Well I asked the receptionist if having single lens were cheaper than progressive lenses. She said yes. So I asked if I was getting a refund. She told me no I do not get a refund because they had to have the glasses sent back and new lenses were made. I politely informed her it was due to them pushing the progressive lenses and them telling me that I would get use to them after I told them about my medical history. I paid out of pocket over $300 for the glasses and I am waiting to see what they have charged my insurance company for this one set of glasses. I am very disappointed with Elgin Vision. I highly recommend that you go elsewhere for your glasses. read more

This place really went down hill in the last year. We ordered replacement lenses for the glasses we purchased the previous year from their office. First, staff was adamant they didn't sell the glass frames and we had to buy new frames. After we told them to look it up they came back and apologized and ordered the lenses for us (which by the way cost almost the same as the entire frame and lenses from the previous year). They indicated it would be about a week to get the lenses in and we'd have to drop the glasses off for about 4 days to replace the lenses (this was in May). Fast forward several weeks later we get a call that the lenses were cut for someone else's glasses and had to be reordered. A couple weeks later still no call. The local area manager called us (mid July) and apologized and said a credit would be given for the full amount and lack of communication from the office on status. Fast forward to December, I've made an innumerable amount of calls and sent messages and every time am told the "system is down" and we never get a call back or an update on our refund. While the staff is polite, they're horrible with follow up, organizational skills, and customer service. A customer should not have to constantly contact them for 7 months to get an update. It is a shame because the dr is great but all of this is not worth the major headache and waiting many months and still chasing a refund owed to us. read more

Had my first visit on Friday. all went well, mostly. HOWEVER after my exam, I was told their computers were down and they would email me my new prescription by the end of the day. It's now TUESDAY and I have not heard from them. I worked with computers for a time and I know they can have problems now and then. In this day and age, there is no excuse for not having backups or mirroring a system to address problems like this. This situation is entirely unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

I came in and got a new prescription for distance vision. When I received the glasses produced from the prescription, they were not right. When I went back to get the prescription checked - I was helped by someone in the front and I didn't get the feeling that she knew what she was doing. I don't know why they got it wrong the first time, but I am a bit irritated that I didn't see the optometrist again and as a result, I have no confidence in this optometrist's office. Speaking with receptionist (very kind, calm, understanding) about how my husbands contact tore and cannot see with out it and asking for a sample of exact contact to get until appointment receptionist offered next week. Receptionist states exam expires. I asked if they send emails, call, text anything. Manager interrupts saying it's not their responsibility. I again asked for sample until appt, Manager interrupts multiple times stating, "lack of preparation on your end does not warrant an emergency on my end". I tell manager I wasn't talking to her I was talking to the receptionist and she states "well, I'm the manager so". Explain to her last time we were here was asked for Acuvue contacts but they ended up giving us their brand contacts that have been terrible. Manager says, "you can go elsewhere" while shrugging and with her arms crossed. I asked to speak to someone other than her, she says there isn't anyone. I asked if she had a boss to which she says no. I ask if she's the owner, again she says no. By far the most unprofessional encounter I've ever had with "management". The receptionist was very sweet and deserves better. I do apologize for my displaced frustration from the encounter with the manager. read more

Initially, there was a scheduling error, but it was handled quickly, professionally and courteously! My wife and I went in as new patients and are already looking forward to our next visit. I loved that the doctor spent time explaining what happens and what could happen if I were to develop any conditions with my eyesight My wife needed contacts. Everything was smooth! My son scratched his eye at the lake and by the next day, vision was blurry and he was in pain. This place is new and I was hoping they were more than "just" a place to get an eye exam for glasses. Thankfully, the optometrist is therapeutic - AND they took my insurance! They got my son in with 2 hours and fixed him up with an antibiotic eyedrop prescription. He's on the mend. Not only were they able to solve the problem (pending, needs a couple more days for full healing) but the entire staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. This is an update to my previous review. Although I had many issues in getting my glasses. Then getting replacement lenses. Not one time did Tori, Beth or Ira give up on making it right. They did everything possible to finally changing labs. I not only did they stay in touch with constant updates I also received a full refund for my troubles and a new pair of glasses. The new pair I just got is absolutely perfect, light weight, and fit amazing. Although I was adamant that I would never go back there again, I have changed my mind. After all they did to turn my horrible experience into a positive one, I would be crazy not to give them another chance. Thank you guys and I will be back. read more

I drove past this wonderful business and popped in on a quest to find a good place to obtain new contacts. I was in a complete panic because I am blind without my contacts and my dogs had destroyed mine. I was welcomed by Sherry one of the certified opticians who immediately offered to adjust my glasses because I was pushing them up my nose every 5 seconds. She did so brilliantly and free of charge. I booked an appointment for new contacts and full exam. I can tell you honestly I have never had a team of eye specialists treat me so well. They have a full array of new and state of the art equipment to give e you a properly fitted pair of glasses and contacts. I have a very difficult prescription, but they nailed it. I had a fantastic experience at Elgin Vision Source today. First-time customer and I will return for any future vision needs. I was greeted promptly by James. Though my insurance plan doesn't include vision, he was already checking my medical insurance that I provided at the time of scheduling my appt, for benefits that I might not know I have, and indeed did find some. Awesome. The technician was very friendly and prompt (I don't recall her name unfortunately) and professional. After the technician did the digital map of my eyes and the various other vision screens, I waited only a few minutes for Dr. Ma, who was very friendly and cordial and also very professional. She definitely is knowledgeable, also. I had a few questions that surprised her because people don't commonly ask them (i.e., what my eye pressures were today) and she answered very thoroughly. I never felt rushed or cut off by anyone that I had contact with today and that's a bonus as far as I'm concerned because so many Dr. offices are just people mills where they are thrilled to take your money and can't get you out the door fast enough. Unlike other eye doctors I researched on Yelp, the digital eye map exam which spares you the horrible dilation eye drops IS included in the cost of the exam, and not an extra fee. Pricing for the exam was extremely reasonable based on other offices I'd researched. I can thoroughly recommend Elgin Vision Source to anyone looking for an eye doctor. Thanks EVS! read more

I have just gone through the entire process of getting an eye exam and glasses. The process was good but a couple of missteps on everyone's part makes me not as happy as I have been in the past. My first major complaint is when I called for an appointment, I asked for Dr Ma. Having been her patient for the last two years, she was who I wanted to see. The receptionist never told me I was not seeing Dr Ma. I didn't know that Dr Ma was not there until a new doctor walked in. She was good, but not as good as Dr Ma. I asked several questions based on former visits and she answered my questions. The thing I didn't like is that I wasn't told especially when I especially asked. Other parts of the whole experience could have been better and I still need adjustments to me glasses which I received today. They did come in earlier than expected. Beth knows her stuff, so hopefully glass adjustments will go well. The whole point is I want to go here because they are close by my house. read more
