This was our first visit here, their restaurant week menu looked great, but it was anything but. Hopefully it was just an "off" Saturday night but Food, service, nothing was a great experience. We were early for our rez and seated quickly so that was nice. Apps took 45 minutes and were bad, the squash soup was served cold and tasted gross (like it was frozen and not thawed properly), French onion was modestly better. Entrees were the high point (steak) and dessert was forgettable (from Sysco I think, definitely not in-house). Disappointing. Suggestions would be to work on service/timing and hire an in-house baker or buy from one of the many great local bakers for bread/fresh desserts. Will we be back? Probably not. read more

Downtown Dining week at 11 Waters in the old Hotel Syracuse. Everything was excellent. Service was attentive and friendly, management checked on us, courses came out progressively as we finished, bright airy room. We enjoyed the Snapper Ceviche and Cranberry Whipped Feta dip for first course (with Parker House rolls - so good!), Seared Branzino and Short Rib for mains, finished up with Apple Tart and Chocolate Mousse for desserts. Honestly, not one miss the entire meal. FYI - the 'chocolate cake' listed on the menu is actually flourless chocolate cake, if that matters to anyone. read more

Eleven Waters surprised us in the best way. None of us had heard anything about it before going but we want to keep trying new places and it was really great. Connected to the Marriott, Eleven Waters feels slightly tucked away from an the main door traffic downtown. Nonetheless, it's clean, modern and quite spacious inside. The brunch menu was very reasonably priced for the area, which was very exciting for our wallets. The staff was lovely, we quickly had 2 team members try to seat us the moment they saw us and our server was wonderful. He had a great energy and that is always appreciated no matter where you are. The food was overall very good and we all enjoyed our mimosas. Everyone was quite pleased with a small caveat in the chicken on the chicken and waffles being on the dry side. Everything else was nailed, presentation was lovely and flavors popped bringing smiles all around. My husband and I sat at the bar on a Friday night. Ordered cocktails. Then we ended up ordering food. Pasta carbonara, a salad with mandarin orange salad and a appetizer baguette cheese plate. All the food came out at once. The past carbonara was cold and had basically no flavor at all. Sent it back to be reheated. Still was barely warm.. the salad was fresh but the dressing tasted like straight vinegar. The appetizer was also flavorless. Can't say we were impressed in anyway. It's always fun to walk into any kind of shop and feel like the staff has knocked the ball out of the park, and... I haven't even had any food yet. The restaurant is located on the ground level of the Hotel Syracuse (Marriott Hotel.). I never mince words expressing my hesitancy about the restaurants in the hotel as they have pretty much a captive audience. Many windows on all sides made for a big bright restaurant. We came in for breakfast and I know the Marriott breakfast routine there. Usually everything they have is ion the A la carte menu and comes to $15-$17, without coffee or juice. BUT... The buffet is 19.99 and includes everything. I had the yogurt parfait and it was DELICIOUS. Could have been one of the best I have ever had. Then went with a ham and cheese omelette... Again, it was perfectly cooked, tasty and filling. The rolls and Croissants were also great. My wife said that she felt like she was on a cruise ship. We went here last night as a part of Dining Week. There's valet parking, but we also found it very easy to find a parking spot. We arrived and to our surprise, there wasn't many people in the restaurant. This could be because of all of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations going on at the many Irish bars in the city, or it could be because people didn't know they were doing dinner - we had heard they stopped doing dinner a little while ago. I liked the inside, it was clean, the seat was comfortable, overall nice. The service was excellent. Sherry was our waitress and she put on a masterclass in hospitality. What a lovely woman - she made our night! As for the food, would you believe it that out of a group of 4 we all almost got the same things? The potato and leek soup was very good and perfect for the breezy evening. The chicken was very moist (I hate that word) and the Mac n' cheese was good, however I wish there had been a little more. The scallops were great and yes, they were real scallops. There's been a rash of restaurants using counterfeit scallops (seriously, look it up!), but I can safely say these were legit. They were seared perfectly. No complaints! And lastly, the desert. We all had the peanut butter cake. Absolutely zero complaints - I mean come on, did you really think you could go wrong with peanut butter cake? Ugh, I so wanted this place to be great. Don't get me wrong, service was great, the staff was attentive and helpful. The space is beautiful with lots of big windows for natural light. And the location is clutch if you're staying at that hotel. But I have to warn you, don't get the lobster Benny. I was so excited to order it, had picked it from the menu before I even arrived. But you could smell it coming. I love seafood, but this smelled seafoody in a way you don't want it to smell. And maybe, maybe there was one piece of lobster claw. The rest was tiny little squiggly pieces of what I hoped was lobster meat. It was tough to eat, and for a really high price point. We had dinner at eleven waters as part of downtown dining weeks. The restaurant is located on the ground level of the Marriott hotel. When we arrived, we walked through the hotel lobby and the bar to get to the main dining area, and were surprised to find it mostly empty, although it did fill in more throughout the evening. The interior was nice and we could hear music drifting in from the bar area. Their dining weeks menu had lots of delicious selections. The fried zucchini was elevated and some of the best I have ever had. I also tried some of my husband's Caesar salad which was very good. I had hoped to order a margarita off the cocktail menu but they were out, so I enjoyed a glass of their house Chardonnay instead. I noticed that their glassware was inconsistent- I saw 3 different styles of white wine glasses. I had the Scallops Gnocchi for my entree, and it was definitely something I would order again. The portions for entrees were a little smaller than most restaurants, but I later heard that they chose to serve slightly smaller portions for dining weeks. For dessert I had the cannolis, which had a perfect ricotta filling. They also gave us a coupon at the end of the meal for our next visit, which I appreciated. read more

My experience here for Sunday morning breakfast was interesting. Here's the gist: - If you have the time and the patience, I would HIGHLY recommend ordering food vs the buffet. When I went, the buffet looked horrendous and almost made me change my mind about eating here at all - There seems to be a general disconnect between management and staff. Story time: We were a large group and when we checked in we were told that it would be a 10-15 min wait to be sat. We informed the host that we could be sat separately if it made us sat faster, they said ok. 15 min goes by and one of our party checks in with the host again emphasizing we can be sat separately. They again reiterate it will be a wait. 20 minutes goes by. We then found the manager told them the situation and said we could be sat separately. They replied "oh well if you could be sat separately, we would have sat you already" and we were promptly sat. - I understand but do not like the "drink stations" of coffee, juice and water around the restaurant for only the servers to access. I feel like with a buffet as part of the restaurant it makes more sense to have a spot where people can come and refill their beverages at their leisure vs waiting for a server to come and take their drink order and then go and get the drink and bring it back. Personally, I waited about 10 minutes after sitting until I got my beverages - Food was pretty good, I was impressed with the quality of food that I was served and everything was prepared as I ordered it read more

I got the white bean chicken soup, wings, filet mignon, and a glass of wine all for $35. Definitely one of the best dining week menus I've seen! They were out of a few menu items and my steak was a little under cooked. I ordered medium and it came out rare. I let out waiter know and they re-cooked it to perfection. Other than that no complaints! Everything was delicious! The manager even came out to check on us and see how everything was. Went for dining week, as that is generally a great way to try new places. Not really impressed. Took over 2 hours for dinner because the service was soooo slooooow. There were maybe 5 tables in the restaurant, so this seemed especially inexplicable. My cocktail was delicious and the brussell sprouts were maybe the best I ever had. But otherwise, this is not worth the price tag. Meatball appetizer was served lukewarm. Chicken was kinda tough. Lobster mac and cheese was tasty, but the texture of the sauce was kind of mushy and odd. Never offered coffee, which I would have ordered. Never got a refill of water though we all drank ours long before the extremely leisurely dinner was over. In general, the service was surprisingly indifferent for such a fancy restaurant When the bill came, I realized that we were served and charged for the scallop dinner instead of the scallop appetizer, though we literally pointed to the appetizer on the menu when we ordered it. If you offer both, maybe ask the diner which they are ordering instead of assuming. I wouldn't rush back and I wouldn't recommend them. read more

I will start by saying I don't give five stars unless I am really blow away. I have met people for drinks here before but had never eaten. The atmosphere is good and the bar is nice. Will come back again for drinks. Had lunch and the salad bar was very good. Good variety. Also had lobster bisque. The bisque was a little to much tomato based not enough lobster flavor. Plenty of lobster chunks and overall it was okay. The staff was a bit slow to refill the dressing since we had to ask a couple times. A few of us stopped by the bar area of Eleven Waters after dinner to unwind and have a few drinks. Located on the ground floor of the Marriott, Eleven Waters is modeled after an old-school barber shop. The color scheme is mostly neutral greys with little hints of barber shop character like faux faucet handles and tile. The bar area is very open, with a few tables and comfy chairs in addition to the stools. In addition to standard beers and wine, they have a number of classic and signature cocktails. I decided to get the Beehive Mule which is a twist on a standard Moscow Mule with the addition of lime juice and honey. The cocktail was really good - that lime juice really cinched it. I also had a glass of Prosecco which was good as well. The bartender was good, left us alone most of the time but checked in at the right moments. They're not open too late, but it's a good place to go in you're in the hotel looking to relax and socialize. read more

Met a friend for lunch today to check out Eleven Waters during Downtown Dining Week. They were offering Soup and Salad bar for $10 which is $2 cheaper than their normal menu pricing. Neither of us had been to Eleven Waters before. It was very nice but definitely had that hotel restaurant feel. We asked our server about the dining week special and she directed us to the salad bar. I honestly was expecting a larger selection, but it was decent. They had 2 lettuce mixes and maybe 8 or 9 possible mix ins including but not limited to onion, peppers, tomatoes, chick peas, croutons. They had a pasta salad and a broccoli slaw, 2 soups, rolls, and cookies. My only real complaint about the serve station was nothing was labeled. I asked the server walking by what the soups were and she didn't know and had to ask. There were 5 or 6 bottles of Dressing, again not labeled, so I picked one that was possibly a ceasar or house dressing. The taste of the salad was good. It was obvious that it was all fresh ingredients. The broccoli slaw had 0 flavor which was kind of disappointing. We both added salt and pepper to it (I never add them to my food) and it didn't really help much. I didn't care for the tomato bisque soup. It tasted more like pasta sauce to me than tomato soup. But I've never had a bisque version before so that may be how it was supposed to taste. The cookies and rolls tasted packaged and they weren't anything special. The service was fine. We had to ask for water refills which was kind of annoying because we got the salad bar so she didn't have to do much for us. I may try it again for something from the kitchen, but nothing about the place made me excited to go back. read more

This place was originally the old Hotel Syracuse barber shop. The sink fixtures and mirrors are still there as part of the decor. I did not try the restaurant, only the bar. And they make one of the best martinis in Syracuse. I will continue to stop here for at least one whenever I am in town! read more

Wow talk about the perfect combination for downtown living. Delicious food and fantastic views. Whether you eat inside which is gorgeous or outside, you won't be disappointed one bit. I have never eaten outside when they have the fire pit going, but I can't wait to try it out. They have the perfect location right at the base of the Hotel Syracuse...yes I still call it that. The entire area around Warren street is really picking up and the hotel and this restaurant truly make that corner fantastic. Now on to the nitty gritty...The food! There are only so many ways to say something is epically delicious, but know that what they serve here absolutely is. I decided to come here for lunch and have their grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup was creamy and delectable and the grilled cheese had multiple different kinds of cheese in it. I also pulled a classic Josh and added bacon to the grilled cheese which just made it that much more amazing. Surprisingly it also came with fried, which were crispy and fresh. The staff was fantastic. At the risk of being called nosy, huge kudos to my waitress Keira. The table next to me had someone who was hard of hearing and I could see her doing sign language with him. Which was quite comfortable, all the tables were spaced apart in a way so you didn't feel crowded. The waiter brought us water and let us know what the soup of the day was and what wasn't available.which was nice. We ordered the Calamari and crab fritters both hot and delicious. For our main course I had the Salmon and the wife had the scallops again both hot and delicious. We had a bottle of wine with our dinner , our host was attentive and timing impeccable. So disappointing! We were staying at the hotel, walked in on a Sunday morning and waited 10 minutes before the hostess came (after I walked over and asked someone if there was a hostess there). She asked if we had reservations. I said no, but that we were staying at the hotel. She said they had an event and didn't know if they could seat us. They did, but the service was terrible. I mean terrible. We were practically ignored. Had to get up and ask to be given water. And the food was mediocre at best. The french toast was inedible - just a thick coat of scrambled egg on one side of a dry piece of toast. The omelette was tough and overcooked. All the food came out cold. The smashed potatoes were almost raw inside. I'll stay at the hotel again, but fortunately Salt City is right across the street and has a lot of good options. So disappointing though. read more

That was a big contrast to the "gentleman", possibly the host, who took the party behind us even though we had reservations, walked that group through the middle of our party and sat them at the table Ben had set up for us. It took us 10 minutes to sit down and once we sat down the hostess told us at the brunch was over and the kitchen was closed. She then told us to go to the pub next-door and that was also closed. Very cool space. Service friendly and prompt. No bread offered which should be standard in any decent restaurant. Olives with garlic crostini, without ANY perceptible garlic flavour. Just olives and toast. Disappointing. Duck Tacos really tasty. Definitely order that again. Very tasty Cioppino but it was the special so not a regular menu item. Very tasty Tomato Bisque with a hint of Balsamic. Beautifully subtle lemon/lavendar cheesecake. Downside, the wine list is not very sizeable and outrageously overpriced. Only 8 reds available, 2 of those from questionable local vineyards. My advice, order by the glass. And where's the bloody bread? read more
