I used to come to this restaurant for their basket of chicken wings 8-10 years ago. I would go there so often, I used to call it home. I only recently went back and ordered the wings again. The wings were stone cold, I asked for a new basket and the same basket came back with a few hot wings thrown on top. There was no juice at the bottom of the basket, the cheese sauce was liquid. The toilets disgusting and smelly (that has not changed). So overall very disappointed and will not go back again. read more

Came here for lunch last week. When we arrived, the hostess asked us if we had reservations, and we said no, which she seemed surprised about. She was a bit brusque with us. great place for a cup of soup and a sandwich. i was initially drawn in by the logo (i'm a sucker for pachyderms, what can i say?) and found that it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere to take in a quick bite. there's also one of these in new york somewhere, and it was pretty consistent with the food here in dublin. read more

My wife had the tuna, I had the chili burger with onions. The tuna was a bit overcooked and not that tasty. My Burger was a bit bland, nothing special and the fries were a bit tough. The prices are not cheap so you expect quality not mediocrity. Service was patchy. Slow to start which I put down to the place being busy but it emerged as a pattern - I had to ask twice for water and the waiter seemed to disappear for an aeon with my change from the bill. I dislike when staff kiss your ass american-style but the staff in this place seemed a bit surly, like they were hung over or something and really didn't want to be there. The waiter (was he the maitre'd?) on the way out asked if everything was alright. I said 'not bad' but now i regret not elaborating. I also regret leaving 10% as a tip for shoddy service. read more

Everytime I've gone here I've left pretty satisfied. The wings are as good as they say. I got a calamari salad last time I was there and I absolutely loved it. It's a Sunday Afternoon, town is busy and you are absolutely ravenous, having skipped breakfast in the hope of a wonderful meal being provided later on - you stroll through Temple Bar and there it is, shining like a beacon of greasy salvation!! Elephant and Castle. You can go for dinner, but I perfer it during the day so that you have the rest of the afternoon to digest your giant meal. Always arrive at least 45 minutes before you want to eat though, because there's no advance bookings (unless you've got a seriously large group), so you have to put your name down and come back at the appointed time. People rave about the chicken wings, although personally they don't do anything for me - being no different to any other chicken wing I have ever experienced. The burgers are where it's at. After weeks spent trying them all, we have judged the Garlic Burger and the Stilton with Bacon burger to be joint kings! The mushroom one is a bit plain, the cheese is a bit tasteless, the curry sauce one is a bit weird, ditto the sour cream one. The chips used to be manky, but they are now quite good! I've taken away a star because the food can be a bit hit and miss (it's significantly worse quality at night when they are super stressed) and because I brought a work party once and they kept us waiting on the street for an hour past our reservation time with no apologies and were pretty damn rude to us. They used to do amazing ice creams but then they cut the portion size in half...hmm. But hey, on a good day it's definitely one of the only decent burgers in Dublin and the atmosphere is pretty fun. read more

In the 2 weeks I was in Ireland I tried 4 times to get a table and it was always full. On my 5th try, I found it why...the food is absolutely delicious!! We started with wings...they were the best wings I've ever eaten! My daughter ordered the roasted garlic burger, she didn't speak until it was gone, she said it was the best thing she had eaten on our trip! I ordered the chicken special and it was divine! Wife and I came here when we visited Dublin. We came thinking the hospitality standards were very low in Europe compared to the US (because of tipping) but we were BLOWN AWAY by the service here! Seemed like a great local spot (we were the only tourists) and food was delicious! Mushroom risotto and sirloin steak were fantastic and those fires were unique and also delish. My boyfriend & I went here for supper time and were told it would be a two hour wait so decided to try for a late lunch the following day as we had read all the rage about the wings online. We still had to wait an hour but thankfully they give you a time to go back instead of waiting aimlessly. We ordered wings to share along with a cherry soda (16 euros for both) and were sadly disappointed. The service and soda was great but the wings were a pretty big let down. Now I'm not sure if it's because we're from Canada where wings of all flavours are extremely common everywhere, but they taste like bar wings with a mild sauce on them (hot sauce and butter mixed). Definitely not worth 13 euro as at home we could get the same thing for 7 euro. They were good tasting but not worth the hype or money. read more

Nobody can deny that their chicken wings are the best in town. But apart from that I have had amazing brunches here as the menu is huge and caters to all kinds of preferences. The yoghurt with fruit, honey and granola is something else- and if you are really hungry try the Steak and Eggs Ipanema (with avocado and a fried banana). It is always busy and it can sometimes get annoying to wait around in the entrance area until you get a table - service is quick though and they give you the menu to look at while you wait. I finally got around to tasting the legendary chicken wings in here recently and yes, they are totally yummy. In fact we all got our own dishes and got the wings to share and we needn't have bothered with the separate orders. All of us dug into the communal wings and there was plenty to go around. I had a burger as well and it was delicious but to be honest I was pretty full at that point from the overdose of chicken wings. It has a nice breakfast menu. The portions are decent sized and the price is fairly reasonable. I got the soft scrambled eggs and a half portion of the yogurt with granola, berries and honey. Everything was so good. My friend got the Mexican scrambled eggs with refried beans and guacamole, which was also delicious. After 9 days of Irish food, good but heavy, this place was wonderful! They had coffee/tea REFILLS!! The wings were most excellent and the green salad was lovely with very fresh greens and herbs.
