We stopped at this location as we were traveling on highway 5, and picked the place because of the high ratings. Unfortunately, the service was horrible. They took a long time to come and get our orders, brought drinks but no chips, while other tables were served with both drinks and chips, the salsa did not taste "homemade" as you would expect at a restaurant, the food took forever to be ready, they did not provide any silverware so we had to go and ask for it, as we had to go and ask what happened to our side order of guacamole. At the end they apologized and said that today they were understaffed, but as I went through the reviews later, I realized that other people had similar experiences in the past. Good Mexican food in Willows! We had the Chilli Verde(pork in tomatillo sauce) and Camorones al Diabla (Shrimp in house made habenaro flavored spicy sauce). Liked the shrimp dish much more as I prefer spicy( read super spicy) food. The side salad, rice, refried bean, and fresh corn tortillas were terrific as well. EXCELLENT FOOD! Literally tastes like someone's mom made it at home! I usually always order the same thing at any Mexican Food Restaurant but their food is so amazing I have tried new things! The Sopes is a bowl made out of masa and filled on top with meat, cheese, lettuce, sour cream etc. it was so good! The owners come out to greet you and show appreciation for you being a customer! I was trying a case out of town, in Glenn County. We went to lunch to a place nearby, in a small strip mall. I had read the three reviews as we got into the car to go there. Sounded good, but really didn't expect much. Now you should know, first, that the best Mexican Food I know of in California is La SuperRica in Santa Barbara, in what seems like a converted gas station kind of place---but with lines out the door. Julia Child, who my wife knew through her work when she lived there liked this place and so it was our #1 go to place for Mexican. And it is nonpareil. Until now. OK: secret number one--Jamaica. Is it made from powder added to water? Ugh. Is it made from scratch with real Hibiscus flowers, and not watered down? If so, you're in a place that is definitely above average. Sorry for the preliminaries. Had a fabulous lunch and sorry my trial finished that day and I'm not expecting to be back there. Just know the food is SUPERB, and the service as warm and friendly as anywhere. Next time I get within 50 miles of this place, I'm dining there again with enthusiasm. read more

I love Mexican Food and this place is great. I knew it would be after eating the chips and salsa. It's in the old downtown area. A kind young couple just opened it. They have great food and are exceptionally nice people. It is a kid-friendly spot as evidenced by their own young family of well-behaved children. I had three tacos which were yummy. On a road trip with family,decided 2 stop here,small hole in the wall not much seating ,the staff were great served chips & salsa as we sat dwn but when the main dishes arrived the rice & beans were bland no favor at all,the tamales were hard at both ends maybe old ,i had the chillie reino talk about gross that tasted like straight up EGGS ,like a omelet with a chilli in the middle,now i grew up in a Mexican restaurant and know exactly how 2 make these,that was no chillie reino, gross gave my grandchild a piece she said yuk its just a egg..was looking forward 2 our meal because we been traveling alot the past few mths,everything had the same flavor bland sause on it,i had no choice 2 put 2 full cups of the salsa all over my food 2 eat it,very disappointed in this place ,the prices were responsible but the bland taste is not what we were looking 4..We will not be stopping there again,sad because it is on our way 2 hwy 5 and it would be a good place 2 eat dinner 4 our trips..sorry haft 2 pass this place on my now & look 4 a different spot in willows,cal.2 get our dinner ,im a traveler and i know good food,if your grandchildren won't eat it ,when they grew up going to 5 star restaurants ,and they know their food...maybe hire another cook ,hell add taco seasonings or something,hope this yelp helps ppl ,the strange thing was it got packed all of a sudden, do these ppl not know good athenic mexican food ? We stopped in for lunch - ordered a super burrito and carnitas soft tacos. The burrito was very good, very big and my husband took more than half of it home and enjoyed it the next day. My tacos were very flavorful with just the right amount of heat for me. Very pleasant staff. We're looking forward to trying some other dishes next time we stop in. read more
