Wow. This time, enthusiastic Yelp reviews led me right. This is a Mexican restaurant with table service, not a taqueria with ordering at the counter, but the decor is plain and simple. So is the menu, which is fairly brief and basic. I ordered a combo plate, which was the standard Mexican restaurant combo plate with rice, beans, and a little salad. So far, so ordinary, but the food was just fantastically good, all of it, starting with the addictively tasty salsa which came with the chips (slightly stale, the only negative factor). Some of the best refried beans, in particular, that I've had. The combo I ordered had a beef taco and a tamale (which was chicken), both also really good. I was so impressed that I came back on my next drive through the area and had one of the several shrimp entrees. Not as spectacular as the combo, it was still really good. The shrimp was in a garlic-onion sauce which was full of well-cooked pieces of both. The shrimp were thoroughly cooked. read more

I left my remote coastal confines to travel to see my daughter for her birthday weekend. Being the good dad I said let's get some out food as she and her bf had long days. We chose Elenita's and as I entered I noticed how family oriented it was, you get a warm and welcoming feeling and the staff was pleasant and professional. We chose asada and Al pastor street tacos. Both were great sized and full of flavor but the pork was the best I've had in a restaurant ever. I suggest you get out and try these guys for yourself, you won't be disappointed. read more

There aren't a whole lot of choices in this area and we were thrilled to find Elenita's. Really tasty food. I had the huevos rancheros with a delicious sauce, superb refried beans and very fresh corn tortillas. Our lovely waitress Deidre warned us we'd need a takeout box because the portions are large and we had a hard time staying away from the chips and salsa. I wish I had more time to explore the great spots along HWY 5, but I'm usually in the midst of a 5-6 hour drive each way so known options which are quick and easy and provide consistent quality win the day. BUT his time, on our southbound return from the River, the timing for Willows worked our lunch stop. With the help of Yelp we found Elenita's. Although a few blocks off the freeway we have it a try. BAM! It's so rewarding to get the "wholly schnickies" experience when you take a chance! Well, to be perfectly honest it wasn't much of a risk. Elenita's had a 4.5 star avg. with about 100 reviews. Tough to take that! My son had the carne-asada super burrito. Lite rice. For me, although it was lunchtime, I hadn't had breakfast yet so I went for a breakfast burrito lite rice and lite beans. I chose chorizo as my protein. Chorizo can be tricky if the rest isn't focused. I asked for "crispy" chorizo and they #nailedit! @elenitas food was authentic and fresh. The restaurant was clean. Super clean. And the tables were well spaced. Last, the owner was working the counter. Her smile was genuine when she talked about Willows being a small town and how they all shit down to watch youth sports on Saturdays. Take the time to visit. I came to this eatery 3 years ago. The street taco was good and the chips and salsa were excellent. Chips were thin and crispy. Salsa was the one the real authentic Mexican style. Today I came or ordered 2 street tacos and one shrimp taco. One ceviche and one grill chicken salad. The chips and salsa were extremely salty and chips were not thin. The street Tacos were dry. The grill chicken salad was extremely dry and veggies were not crisp. I was very disappointed. Will go somewhere else for Mexican food. read more

Little brother called for a run down on a to go order because they were splitting the bill 3 ways and the lady that answered the phone, i believe her name was deidra, was rude. Mind you, he politely asked her and she couldn't even speak to him in good manner and answered in a nasty tone all over a simple question. My Grilled Chicken Salad (increased to $7.99) had a hearty portion of chopped chicken, but there was SO MUCH WATER in the salad, that I had to pull over and dump the water within minutes. Between the cucumber and the iceberg lettuce (no mixed greens) it was sitting in a pool of water *not great*. I was grateful to find a healthy alternative to the usual road trip food, but a salad spinner or a layer of paper towels under the salad would have been better. Wow! Just had an absolutely delicious lunch at Elenita's! Had a craving for Mexican food on our way to Ashland and they did not disappoint! My partner had the fish tacos and I had the veggie burrito- and both meals were utterly delicious, fresh, and filling. The salsa was so good, I ordered another batch to go. The resturaunt employs staff who do not care of the safety of their customers A friend who came in to visit ate there and got food poisoning from the cooks bad handling of the food stock. I have sadly eaten at this so called Mexican cafe serving fake Mexican food that is worse tasting than Willows Taco Bell but Taco Bell Gives You the Runs But Elenitas food gives you food poisoning The nasty cooks making food are eating spittling over food being made for customers no mouth covers. The owner has no clue how to keep customers safe from sickness cause she see's the cooks nasty habits but does nothing. The owner has every excuse under the sun to defer the complaints for bad food being served also the worst customer service attitude towards customers. The owner uses excuses to defer fault from her incompetent staff & herself for putting out sub par food. the cafe owner knows her staff is unfriendly, rude, incompetent but does nothing about it .
