I would NOT recommend membership at this facility. As I've read in previous reviews, they consistently cancel your appointment day-of right before your session and make no attempt to rebook you in a timely fashion. In addition, as a member, it's almost impossible to get on the calendar unless you schedule 2-3 weeks out - and again, despite doing this, the likelihood of your therapist not showing up - (or some other excuse) is pretty high, so using your membership is almost impossible. The last time I went, there was only one therapist with an opening and she was AWFUL. She didn't fill the entire 90-minutes that I had paid for (15 minutes short) - she also clearly did not wish to be giving a massage, I could sense her "boredom" and frankly, it was a total waste of my time and my money. I asked to cancel my membership given that I have so many banked (because I cannot get in) and was told that I have to give 30-days notice and that I have 60-days to use. Fat chance of that happening since I can't get in. This place is just not well-run. read more

My wife has used their service in the past and although I believe that the massage team is OK. The accounting/management side of this business is not. I have found more than once mischarges to my credit card in their favor, and if I wasn't regularly checking my bills I would have lose this money for nothing. I had just been running ragged for about two weeks and I could barely move my right arm without cringing it hurt so bad. I had been wanting to try this location since it opened (I had been to the location they have in Western Springs, IL) and as fate would have it, they had a gap in their schedule at just the right time! It went great. They offer validated parking, and even though I actually didn't need to use it that day, as someone that spends a lot of time driving around for my job, it was a big plus. When I got there, I liked the vibe. It's in a store front of the swanky 'Columbian' condo building at Michigan and Roosevelt. As for the brass tacks, the massage itself was AMAZING! Whoever sang that song about 'hurt so good,' could have been talking about Emerita, the woman that gave me my massage. It's really rare that I can find someone that can really go deep enough into the tissue to be satisfying to me, but she did! She was careful to make sure she wasn't ever applying too much pressure (as if there is such a thing) but not in an annoying way and while she was polite, she didn't make me feel like I needed to make small talk and in fact at the end I almost / kind-of-did doze(d) off. I went out the front to pay after I took like 10 minutes to get my bearings and get dressed, and I was given a water and a friendly exchange of conversation on my way out! read more

This review is of Yolanda and my experience with her. The woman at the front desk was kind and understanding. 5 stars for you! My massage was at 12:30 and I arrived early as instructed to fill out paperwork. I was done with the paperwork by 12:23 and waited to be called back. At exactly 12:30 I was called by Yolanda. Yolanda is in the process of putting on large oversized latex gloves. We went into the room to discuss the plan for my massage. I instruct Yolanda that I have a son that is in daycare for the day and my goal is to just relax. She is visually looking at my body and going over the paperwork I filled out earlier. She is asking questions about any medical problems (none) and "jaw clenching". I missed that box on the form and state "my wife sometimes says I do that while sleeping". Yolanda appears upset that I missed that box and starts to read all of the medical problems one by one. At this point in time it is clear she is eating time off the clock. The jaw clenching is never addressed in the massage anyway. She is rude and harshly critiquing my posture and appearance. She looks at my shoes and says "we will discuss your feet, you're going to need arches". What...? She has not even seen my feet and my shoes are still on! She continues to read the form while the clock continues to tick. I state again I have no goals other than to relax. Yolanda instructs me to prepare for my massage and she steps out. At this point in time I text my wife at 12:37 that my massage is starting soon. I undress and wait for Yolanda to return. Approximately 2-3 minutes has gone by and my massage starts at approximately 12:40 maybe even later. Yolanda stated that she would be focusing on "stretching me out" and my feet/upper body. I guess that really meant my upper body. The stretching done was weird and uncomfortable. My feet and legs were massaged for approximately 5 minutes and the focus was on my back and arms. The massage might have been better if Yolanda didn't have latex gloves. Yes, the gloves she was putting on stayed on! She had indicated that she had long nails and didn't want to scratch me. Similar to a court stenographer or any profession that uses their hands. I think having long nails is something you give up when choosing that as your career. At this point it's too late to turn back and I finish the massage. Yolanda states she has completed the massage and steps out. I start to dress and look at the time on my phone.1:20! The massage was 40 minutes! Yolanda comes back in and asks me how I feel. I'm an honest person and tell her I feel okay. She asks me if I feel different from when I first came in and I say, "No not really". She is obviously not prepared for that answer. She asks if I feel "lighter" and I say "No". She is even more thrown off and tells me that I should have drank half the bottle of water that was sitting out for me! She is obviously getting agitated and starts taking the sheets off of the bed. I ask about how much hands on time I was supposed to have. She indicates that there is a 10 minute consultation and a 50 minute massage. I ask her why my massage was only 40 minutes and she becomes very defensive. There is an analog clock in the room and she starts to justify that the massage was in fact somehow 50 minutes. The time on the clock at this point is 1:30. My massage should be ending. However, I am already done, fully dressed, and have already had some conversation with Yolanda. She continues to try and do math and is counting by 5's on the clock. She starts with 5 on the time we started! I immediately say the time we started is 0 not 5. She has obviously had to do this before and is trying to confuse me. However, I know basic math. I say to her there is nothing we can do now. She takes me to the front desk and tells the person at the front this man is accusing me of stopping his massage short. I tell the woman I'm not accusing Yolanda I am stating a fact! That's what actually happened! (I can use my text log as exhibit A in my defense lol) Yolanda says a few more things and is loud and yelling. The woman at the front is kind and professional. I do not know her name but she has tattoos on her arms. Yolanda leaves and the employee at the front apologizes and handles the situation appropriately. She offers me some additional things the next time I come. Thank you to the employee at the front. Sorry I didn't get your name! Everyone/everything about this location is fantastic. The two one star reviewers bringing down their rating is a shame. This location is so helpful, everyone has great customer service skills; from the therapists (worked with Glenn, Tashata, Evelyn) to the front desk staff (Matt!). The massage therapists are all professional and when someone says you are not working with them, it means you are not relaxed and your muscles are fighting them which is no benefit to you, so I am sure the reviewer that gave the one star about that must have tight muscles. I have had many massages and came to Elements because I wanted to do a couples massage. After that massage I was hooked and then signed up for the monthly massage program. I am a fun of high end spas offering massages and not into chain places, but this location I feel operates similar to a high end spa. Elements on S Michigan Ave is the place to go to support you with your well being! From the first time I went there Matt and Nicko both great at the reception and make you feel very welcome. Warm and very professional & inviting.They have you relax before they nmatch you up to a therapist. It's not some pretentious spa..it's where you go to create a partner in your well being. My therapist is Yolanda, and boy she is a master!! She is a therapist not a massuese and there is a huge difference! I have been for 3 massages so far and each time Yolanda gets more familiar with my body and where the pain is and she takes care of it..no pain and better mobility! I am asked about the pressure, I am asked where I hurt, or have had any injuries..I am treated with respect and made to feel very relaxed and comfortable. The place is spotless I always feel refreshed when I leave, with more energy! I will be joining their membership program as the prices then make it more reasonable. To have a group of people who genuinely care about your well being is wonderful and I am delighted with this Elements, with their extraordinary team ! Thank you Yolanda..You are AWESOME! I wanted to update my review because I now see Jigme who has been amazing and has literally changed my life. After suffering from chronic pain for 20+ years, he's given me so much relief and I'm so grateful. The pricing is still quite a deal for the area, and I'm always treated wonderfully. Had my first massage at elements on Sunday and I'm hooked. First and foremost the customer service was EXCELLENT. There was a mix up with an appointment I'd previously booked and the assistant manager went out of her way to accommodate my schedule and my service was free of charge. I booked a 60 minute deep tissue massage. My therapist (Virginia) was wonderful! She explained everything she was doing, listened to my instruction on firmness and touch and was extremely thorough. I left feeling exactly the way you want to feel after a massage. I don't often post reviews on Yelp, but I think Elements is one of the hidden gems of the South Loop. First review on Yelp ever, so I can forewarn all of you hard working busy professionals from losing your hard earned money to this commercial establishment. I'd give a ZERO if I could. DO NOT BUY THEIR MEMBERSHIP. These people are crooks. You do not save money by buying their membership. They jack up their prices to make you think you're getting a discount by buying the membership. You can cancel your membership by giving notice in writing but they give you a very limited window to use any unused sessions. So if you don't use, you lose. They pocket your money without providing you the service you paid for in advance. Their masseuse are very good but this place is a complete rip off. I hope their masseuse would walk off the job because I am pretty sure they are not getting a fair deal either. In addition, their front desk staff are rude and not well versed in the policies and procedures. They are all snooty, unprofessional, and know absolutely nothing about customer service. Once they take your money, they do not care about providing you customer service or even a pleasant welcoming attitude. Please do not go here. There are much better places in the city with much nicer people. I lost hundreds of dollars to this place and did not get the services I paid for. I am a busy professional who was not able to keep up with a monthly massage. As a result, I lost several prepaid sessions. That's a pretty steep penalty to pay. Hence- membership is a scam. Amazing place. Very friendly staff, very clean location and very friendly. I walked in a little sore and was told that a lot of my muscles were strained. Before we even got started I was informed of the process. They ask if you have any pain in specific areas and they try to work in those areas a little more. I definitely felt the areas that needed work. Over all I really enjoyed my massage. I felt the soreness the next day as if I worked out for 24hr hours straight. 2 days after I was feeling more relaxed and a little more flexible. Will be coming back. read more

The only disappointment I find most is where I purchased a groupon for a 60 minute massage and they provided me 50 minutes of service. The other 10 minutes is 5 minutes to undress and 5 minutes at the end to redress which honestly does not take that long. I have been going to Elements Massage for over a year and have exclusively been going to Eric W. I was completely taken back by the comments left by Jepoy E. because I have had extremely positive monthly visits at Elements with Eric. I find her comments to be shocking and fabricated! Eric is one of the top massage therapists in CHICAGO and has the credentials and experience to uphold his expertise. PERIOD. I have been signed up for other chains and no one compares to his massage techniques, zen energy and ability to release all the stress and muscle aches. His communication style is the best I've ever experienced and he also recommends stretches to do at home in between massage sessions. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Eric W. to anyone looking for a 5 star massage because I have had massages for 8 years and I am VERY picky when it comes to selecting a massage therapist...I would definitely disregard the comment provided by Jepoy E. and book an appointment with Eric W. and judge for yourself...You will DEFINITELY be in good hands! I liked the massage bc it wasn't reiki or those Asian hard massages that I seem to always confusingly book on groupons. This was a read deal Swedish massage. She did the full body. I feel so relaxed! I had my first appointment with Elements last week. My massage therapist was J. For me, the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. I'm a 5'3, 140lb female, former fitness competitor and I workout regularly. Because I workout a lot my muscles tend to stay tight and knotted up, so my preference is always deep tissue or sports massage. The goal for my appointment at Elements was not one of relaxation, sipping tea in big robes, ambiance and aromatherapy, which I'm certain they have. I went to get the knots out of my muscles. If you've ever had a deep tissue or sports massage you'll know they can be a bit uncomfortable and partially painful, but so well worth it afterward. I said all that to say, J is strong and definitely an expert in deep tissue massage. Of all the deep tissue massages I've had over the years J now holds the number one position. I suffer from sciatica pain which he helped release. I also suffer from a lot of neck, back and shoulder pain because I work a sedentary job which forces me to be on the computer for 8-10hrs a day. J worked out all those knots and I left Elements feeling like a new person. I've already scheduled my next appointment with J. I highly recommend if you're looking for a deep tissue massage. read more

Absolutely excellent. I have received many massages in my life and Thomas is absolutely one of the best ever. He pays attention to what you ask for, gets the pressure exactly as you describe and maintains it throughout the massage, and has a very soothing voice if you decide to chat a little. The front desk staff is very kind and welcoming. I love that you always get a chocolate and water afterwards too. I also highly recommend joining the monthly program where you save I think $40 on a 90-min massage which is the only way to go in my book! read more

wow. can't say I've ever been more let down by a massage. My masseuse was just awkward and rude, she said that I wasn't working with her, and kept telling me how great she was at what she did; and basically-- that the problem was me. Yikes. Not to mention after I was done, my back and body was really in pain. I believe that she was sincerely trying to work out some stuff, but that is not relaxing for me; I'm not looking for a back adjustment and to be in physical pain during a massage. Maybe I've just had crappy massages in the past, but this--was one where I am not in ANY hurry to return. I had a hard time really leaving any money, let along a decent tip. I guess I've gotten more relaxation and good feeling rubbing up against a wall then this massage. Look elsewhere. read more
