I tried to book a massage at Elements Massage in Maple Valley, WA. During the intake process, I disclosed that I have cancer (which was required on their form). I was contacted by a receptionist on behalf of the massage therapist, Morgan, who refused to work with me -- despite my clear explanation that I am not an active oncology patient, need no special accommodations, and was requesting a standard massage. At no point did Morgan speak to me directly; everything was relayed through the receptionist, who repeatedly and incorrectly referred to me as an "oncology patient" even after my corrections. This experience left me feeling humiliated and emotionally harmed. I was offered to reschedule with another therapist, but if bias exists at this level, I cannot trust that this location properly vets or trains its staff. Due to the seriousness of what occurred, I have submitted a formal complaint to the Washington State Department of Health. (This review reflects my honest experience.) read more

I've been twice, the facility is very clean, dark and moody. The front staff is friendly, I do believe they are a little forward on selling memberships and bookings. It pains me to leave such a low rating because our massage therapist Christina is the absolute BEST. She is kind, personable, and does wonderful work. However, the front desk staff is absolutely incompetent and we ended up cancelling our long time membership because we are so fed up with them giving us wrong information, incorrectly charging our credit card, and promising us one thing and going back on it later. The front desk staff regularly misinforms us about how many massages we have left to use and we end up being told we have credits and then get charged later. Once, we checked in and got brought to the waiting room, we are ALWAYS early for our appointments. We waited and waited, we're 5+ minutes past our appointment times and suddenly we get a phone call from the front desk asking where we are because we are late for our appointment - WE WERE LITERALLY SITTING IN THEIR WAITING ROOM AND THEY HAD CHECKED US IN. After many many frustrating experiences, we finally decided to cancel our long time membership. They made it soooooo difficult! Again, we were given completely wrong information by the incompetent front desk staff. We called and asked about the process for cancelling, we were told we just needed to come in anytime and sign paperwork. We did. We specifically asked in person after we signed the paperwork if we would be charged again, she promised us no we would not have any more charges. Surprise, surprise, the very next month WE GET CHARGED AGAIN. We call and the person at the front said we needed to cancel by a certain date in order to not get charged. We specifically asked that when we cancelled and signed the paperwork and again we were told incorrect information so we had to have another month of charges. They didn't even try to make us feel better or even seemed sorry at all, they just said, oh well she gave you the wrong information. We were trying to use up the last of our credits. We had already cancelled and had one last massage to use. We had hoped to at least have a decent experience for our last time but of course not!!! After his previous massage, my husband booked his last 90 minute massage because that is what the front desk person told him he had available for credit. He went and had his massage this weekend only to see later that he was charged for a full 90 minute massage which we were told he had a full credit for. He then had to take time out of his busy work day to call them. They admit that the front desk person incorrectly charged him (shocker) but that he only had a credit for a 60 minute massage so they would charge him for the extra 30 minutes! The person who booked him SPECIFICALLY told him he had a 90 minute credit which was the only reason he booked a 90 minute. We are so absolutely frustrated and they never seem to be sorry for their mess ups or even care about all the inconveniences and miscommunication. We are done with Elements massage. Stay far away from this place, they do not care about their customers, not even long time customers like we were! read more

This review was tricky. Hubby got me gift cards for Xmas for two massages. I've had one massage in my life and that was a lovely experience a few months ago at this salon. Today was different. Three weeks ago my knee hurt. Any "grown up" knows that bodies don't repair themselves. By not addressing the knee situation, I ended up falling twice and injuring my back and neck. When I limped in for my evening appointment, I was in such pain, waiting to lay on the table was unbearable. I didn't know what part of the pain was the deep tissue massage and which pain I had brought with. My body temperature shot up as the heat of the table met my angry post menopausal skin and the heat of the deep massage dug into my exhausted back and neck. Anyone with sciatica knows what I mean. The hot pain in your neck from just holding up your head. Fast forward an hour. I was not healed but my body was responsive and grateful. Like I said, I'm new to back pain and new to massage....and have a terrible threshold for pain. A week after having had my first deep tissue massage with Ryan (I hope I got his name right)...I am able to move and stretch enough to help myself work through this. I'm Sad that it will be 6 weeks for another opening in his schedule but I will be stretching and recovering ‍ while I wait. I was left a voicemail at 10:47am today as a reminder for my appointment tomorrow at 11:30am. The voicemail says to cancel if I have had any flu like symptoms within the past 5 days which applied to me (just recovered from a cold) so I called to cancel at 11:22am. They rounded up the minutes and counted it as 24 hours. Mind you they called me less than 25 hours. Why have it legally written as 24 hours in your policy when it's literally not 24 hours? Ridiculous. Not going here anymore just because of that. Absolutely stupid. And they framed it as doing me a favor to waive the cancellation fee. This place has been consistently going down hill for years now. Their prices are 50% higher than they were a few years ago and they try to pin you into a wellness plan to bring the prices to only slightly overpriced vs competition instead of ridiculously overpriced. It's not like they offer anything that really sets them apart short of having slightly more availability as long as you are willing to get whatever rando is available. Management is obviously only in it for the money and cannot keep employees to save their lives. So don't get too comfortable with a specific masseuse because they will likely be gone soon. I quit even trying to have a "regular masseuse" after the 5th one in a row quit. I recently tried to use a certificate my wife had purchased for a 60 minute session and booked a 90. Went to pay the difference and they informed me the 60 minute gift certificate was valued at $69 which is not even the price for a 60 minute massage. They charged me $107 for the additional 30 minutes which means they don't even value the 60 gift card at half the value of a 90 minute massage. I didn't even argue. As far as I'm concerned it was a termination fee because they will never get my business again. Also if you do chose to give these criminals your money make sure you tip your masseuse cash. Totally the type of place that would try and take a cut of the tips. read more

Thank you so much to the staff of Elements Massage in Maple Valley for being open and following strict policies to keep us safe! They tell you when to come in from your car, have a clean pen for every customer, make sure everyone is in a mask, and even maintained social distance guidelines in the waiting room. I had been suffering from severe neck pain (interrupting my sleep) since the start of the pandemic and I finally found this location that was open. My massage therapist, Claire, was amazing. She listened to my complaints and worked very very diligently on the problem area. By the end of the session, I felt so validated that my symptoms that were keeping me from sleep were not in my head but due to the nerves in my neck! I cannot wait to see how I sleep tonight. OVERALL- 3.5 STARS FRONT END STAFF- 2 stars; I eagerly called and the first girl took a VERY long long time to find me "a good match". All I needed was a 60 minute relaxation massage, but even with 18 massage therapists on staff, the soonest she could schedule one for me was 4 weeks out! (I was on vacation one of those weeks.) She made it sound like people that specialize in deep tissue can't give relaxation massages and visa versa. BUT... for $40 more I could have a 90 minute slot. At least I got on a cancellation list. After setting the date, I checked my email and the email confirmation was for a different date and time than we agreed on the phone; there was no way I would have agreed to the appointment she emailed. So I called back and talked to another girl. She took a while as well....and tried to upsell me to 90 minutes too. OR I could wait a month. She also put me on a cancellation list. No one called. By the way, as I waited in the lobby for my massage therapist, I flipped through their notebook with backgrounds/specialties on all their therapists. Nearly all of them listed relaxation AND deep tissue. MASSAGE FROM ASHLEY- 5 stars; she had very nice strong strokes. She did a great job where I carry the most tension. Nothing wrong with the massage therapist. I have a problem with completing paperwork to stop a transaction... I was told all I would have to do is call and cancel. Did that, still charged, and a few days later was told I would need to come in and sign paperwork. Canceled my debit card to ensure no more charges and magically they have my card # again. "Oh banks do that" says the front staff? Really why did I have to update Microsoft, Spotify, MY PHONE BILL (TMOBILE) and several other "contracts" (subscriptions)" But oh no don't worry my bank will be sure to update the massage parol... be careful!! I am going to assume that this place was new because that's really how it looked on the inside. This establishment is very well taken care of and is very clean. The staff were very welcoming and helped to provide an over all experience that is worth writing home about. We (My husband, Mother, and myself) all went for a message. I called on a saturday morning and they had an opening for all of us at the same time, very excited about that. Arriving a few minutes before their requested arrival time, we were greeted and shown to the waiting room, very clean and tidy and soothing. What a way to decompress before a relaxing message! Fairly quick, hassle free paperwork and then our therapists came and greeted us. They were very friendly, did a great job ensuring that we were happy, relaxed and comfortable. Overall, the equipment and facility are very well taken care of, top notch! I enjoyed this visit so much that I signed us up for their membership so that we can go back and get more messages! Attention anyone that is a member at anyone elements massage location ! They will not tell you that you must use your full hour at a sister location otherwise you will be charged. Example - you have 5 hour sessions saved at the maple valley location , you book a 90 min massage in Kent - they will charge you $30 for you extra 30 mins because it wasn't 2 full hours. They will not let you just transfer these hours either, this is a rip off! read more

CON The biggest reason I give this only 3 stars is bc for the 3 yrs I have been coming here, I am consistently shorted massage time!!!!! They don't bring you to your room until the time of the massage and then they stop early. At all of the places I have gone before (living in other area of the country), I have always been brought to the room 5-10 min early. This gave me a chance to undress and chill. The massage with Erin was fabulous, if this review was just for her, it would be 5+ stars. My husband bought me a $99 gift certificate for my birthday. After the massage when I went to pay, I was informed that I was not eligible for the $69 first time customer offer because he bought me a $99 gift certificate. The point of the $99 certificate was so that I could purchase an add on if I wanted to and to cover a tip for the massage therapist. Instead, I ended up having to pay out of pocket for my add on and tip, for my birthday present. I was in no mood to debate after my relaxing massage, so I paid just so I could leave. My neck was a mess I couldn't even lift my head without the pressure in my head making my eyes go back for 10-20 sec every time I lifted my head and she worked on me for 90 min with cupping and deep tissue and I felt like a million bucks after. Wow just tried to call and make an appointment and, 3 times in a row someone picked up the phone and then hung it up immediately. Thinking they may be having phone issues I called back again and the phone picked up and was immediately put on hold ... no answer, no hold please, no one speaking at all. I was trying to set up once a week appointments and would have been a life long customer had only they answered. Terrible experience and I wasn't even able to get a massage. I have gone to a lot of different spas in my lifetime. I do not recommend this place. your 1 hour massage will not be an hour, it is an hour time slot, you'll never start on time and you need to be out of the room by the time your hour is up. so it will be closer to 50 minutes. I hate spas/massage parlors that do this. Don't say 1 hour and give less. I want 60 minutes on the table. I will not be coming back to this place. read more

I highly recommend her if you go- and you SHOULD go. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I went here for the first time last night, and had my first-ever deep tissue massage. I wanted to see what the place was like, because I now (medically) need regular massages for stress management. That sounds horrible, I know. The thing is, I'm happy to have anybody touching me, and I nearly flunked Anatomy, so I'm not necessarily the best judge of excellent massage therapists. Then, a few weeks ago, I got bad muscle spasms and cramping on both side of my neck, elevating my massage need from "stress reduction" to "fix decades of not stretching regularly, bad posture, heavy breasts and poor sleeping positions". I explained this to the receptionist over the phone, and she recommended a Deep Tissue massage with Nathan, and was able to get me an appointment the same day. I'll be honest: 60 minutes of deep tissue work on my upper body was intense. Brutal, even (I had massive fascial adhesion and years-long muscle tightness). But Nathan was very responsive those few times I wussed out. And the rest of the time, he was happy to crack jokes with me- very important for a gal in need of distraction from the intensity. So while today I am bruised and sore (as he told me I likely would be) and pounding water like crazy (on his advice), I can also (finally) turn my head and sleep without pain. I was so impressed that I immediately signed up for their Wellness Program, a discounted once/month pre-pay massage program (very reasonable rates, considering the 'average' in price and experience is about $1/minute). If I could afford it, I'd be in here every week getting hot stone, deep tissue, and everything else I can think of. But for now, I'll limit that to twice a month. (also, the ambience is very mellow and relaxing, they have plenty of water on hand- as well as coffee- the receptionist was warm and sweet-natured, and the location is convenient with plenty of parking. She's great with pressure, as I like more deep tissue due to tension headaches, and she makes sure I'm comfortable/content. This was my first time ever experience for a spa day. I received a gift card to elements and twice they canceled on me. First time was because the massage therapist got sick (understandable but they were not flexible with my schedule) second time was because they put me down for a wrong time when they had to reschedule from the last session and then had the audacity to tell me they were going to charge my account anyways. The gentleman on the phone literally said "well I can't do anything for you, it's your fault not ours." I left my number for the manager to call me. Never heard a word from anyone. My husband sent me here as a Christmas gift. He scheduled me with the higher rated masseuse. The day of my massage, I noted on the intake form that I was there for relaxation and preferred a quiet room. I did this because in the past I've had chatty massage therapists and cannot relax when I'm expected to carry on a conversation. Even though I noted it on my form, told the masseuse what I wanted, and tried to give short answers to the questions asked during my massage so I could relax, it still ended up being an hour-long conversation and I was not able to relax like I wanted! The place is clean and the staff is friendly... But I don't want to talk to someone the entire time I'm getting a massage. I'm glad my husband got a special promotion on the massage because I did not receive "full-price" service. read more

My first time at Elements. I had previously only went to the more "luxury Hotel Spas" but I did try an introductory offer at another chain a few years ago. I was disappointed. Tonight I had a 60 min with Michelle and was amazed at her work. She was able concentrate on my problem area without neglecting the rest of my body.
