    Spicy sea bass with boc Choi

    Dinner with 5 family members last night at Elements. As good as always with attentive service, well prepared food and appetizers. We arrived at 5:45 and the diningroom was packed by 6:30 on a weeknight. We are sad to see the restaurant close, as June 21 will be their last service. We may have to make the jaunt to Cary to try out chef Michael Chuong's new restaurant. If it's as good as Elements has been over the past years, it will be worth the trip.

    My son and I went to this Asian fusion restaurant in Chapel hill. It was pretty tasty! We ordered 2 appetizers. The chopper wedge salad and tuna tartar wraps were intricate and delicious! It taste better than the picture looks! The romaine chopped wedge salad had strips of warm crunchy crisps that make the dish! Two main dishes are the seafood Cioppino and salt and pepper catch. Both were delicious! I loved the salt and pepper catch (fish) that was battered lightly and fried to perfection. The cioppino was not as spicy as they claimed it would be so we asked the waiter for some chili oil. The service was good. There was also a wine room where patrons store their bottles of wine.

    The atmosphere here is perfect! Sunny and light, open, not too loud, tables have space between them, nice bathrooms. I like that they have such a small menu because it means that they use fresh ingredients and what they serve is done right. The food was all delicious! And the servings were plentiful as you can see by my photos. The server was okay. Apparently, the spring roll app only come with 3, and we got one with 4, which we wouldn't have even known except the server made a point of coming over and saying, verbatim, "I hope you enjoy that fourth spring roll. It only comes with three, and a table ordered an extra one and you got it by mistake." Um. Okay.

    This is an upper scale choice for anyone in the Chapel Hill area or in my case staying at the Aloft which is a short walk nearby. I sat at the bar and had great service from one of the floor waiters. I ordered the special appetizer which was a ricotta toast. Even though the crostini was a little well done to the point it was hard to bite it was still delicious. The ricotta was incredibly creamy and, the sweet red peppers on top were a perfect compliment. My main course was a crab ramen. This was packed with giant pieces of crab which was awesome for 28 dollars but the Ramen noodles sauce felt like I was eating a packet of instant Ramen seasoning. It was a lot of sodium at once. I had dessert as well. A brioche bread pudding with salted caramel drizzle and housemade ice cream. A little too doughy for me but great experience and flavor combos, thus the 4 stars.

    Solid menu but not what I expected I just want to start off and say that the food tastes great, but at the same time subverted my expectations. I wanted to check this place out because the their asian fusion concept intrigued me. We started off with the crunchy tacos and xiaolongbao. The cruchy tacos were super tasty - raw tuna in a crunchy shell. However, the xiaolongbao were...regular xiaolongbao. Not sure how it is fusion. Also, as someone who hails from NYC, I found the price point of $12 for 4 bao to be wayyy overpriced for regular bao. For the main courses, we had the red curry linguine and bo lu lac. While tasty, calling this food "fusion" would be tenuous. Can barely taste the curry in the linguine - tasted like regular Italian food to me. The bo lu lac was basically steak frites. The filet mignon is supposedly "wokked" but just tasted like regular steak with a little soy sauce on the outside. I did like the truffle wedges that came with it tho - big fan of wedges in general. We closed the meal with elements pie which was basically like a oreo chocolate cake. All in all - good food. Expensive, presumably because they are offering "fusion", but came in expecting something more exciting.

    I went to Elements on a Thursday evening as part of a large group, seated in our own private room with four tables of eight. It was very loud: the hard surfaces echoed all the talking, and it was difficult to hear even the people seated right next to you (just word to the wise if you are thinking about bringing a large group or if you go on a night that is especially crowded). Each table was given three appetizers: Thai Brussels sprouts, cha gio tom cua (crispy spring rolls with pork and shrimp, with DIY mint, cucumber, and lettuce to wrap them in), and dry pot cauliflower. All were OK, but all were very oily. Chili sauce and chili oil provided most of the seasoning for each, so there was very little flavor variety between the three appetizers. For my main course I had the whole yelloweye snapper served crispy on a bed of arugula, shallots, and peanuts. The fish was cooked beautifully and served with nuoc cham (which would have been better with more lime juice to brighten the otherwise dull profile of the sauce). Beef udon noodles and Madras curry grilled lamp chops were popular with our group, but I can only speak for the sesame green beans under the lambchops (they were oily, and did not retain any of their supposed sesame seasoning). The desserts we were offered -- cheesecake, a chocolate mousse with a thick Oreo cookie crust, and freshly made Chinese donut holes with dulce de leche -- were tasty but much heavier and richer than they needed to be, especially following the food described above. I wish the sorbet selection had been offered. Overall, the service was attentive and the table decor attractive, but the food I had was far too oily, lacked flavor, and was not especially notable. It was all good enough for our large group last night but I won't be going to Elements on my own.

    What a great date spot for some contemporary Asian fusion! My boyfriend and I came here for an anniversary and found the ambiance to be intimate and perfect. The food was also stellar, but be prepared to spend a lot of money. We shared the Sea Bass and Russian Roll for our entrees. The Sea Bass was TO DIE FOR! I practically inhaled the dish because it was so so so good. It's Chilean Sea Bass and asparagus in an aged miso, maple syrup, soy beurre blanc sauce. Although it was heavenly, I don't think it was worth $36 because of the tiny portion, especially since it was advertised as a "main plate," not one of their "small plates". The Russian Roll (Spicy Yellowtail, Blue Crab, Tobiko, Cucumber, Salmon Outside, Russian Aioli) was good but again, I thought it was overpriced at $16. The good thing about the small portions is that you'll definitely have room for dessert! We decided to get two desserts because their dessert menu looked amazing. We got the Key Lime Creme Brulee and Molten Chocolate Cake (Indulgent Hot Chocolate Lava Cake, Raspberry Sauce, Vanilla Ice Cream). The Key Lime Creme Brulee was the perfect amount of sour and sweet and was cooked to perfection. The Molten Cake is baked to order, so they have a disclaimer that this will require 15 minutes of baking! So if you are in a rush, I recommend placing this order as you're eating your entrees because you do NOT want to miss out on it! So gooey, warm, and decadent. The vanilla ice cream was also better than I was expecting. Overall - incredible food, good service, and amazing ambiance, but bring your wallet stuffed and ready.

    This review only applies to 1) their sushi; 2) their bread basket and 3) their takeout experience. My wife and I were in the mood for some higher end sushi and after a not-great experience at Aki Hana plus living too far from M Sushi and O-Ku she remembered that a friend was recently talking about the good sushi at Elements. I was a little hesitant at first because the prices are higher than any of those places mentioned above and it seemed like every roll featured either tempura or salmon which aren't usually my jam in the sushi world. We bit the proverbial bullet and ordered the tuna three ways roll, the mango salmon roll and the red dragon roll. Also ordered the bread basket because it looked amazing (and was). 1. Bread basket -- the focaccia, homemade crackers and bao were all fantastic as was the whipped honey butter. 2. Tuna three ways roll -- there were none of the alleged gold flakes but there was a healthy portion of truffle ponzu which was amazing. Thinking back I'm not sure if it needed the toro other than maybe for its luscious texture because the ponzu overwhelmed the taste. All in all still a great roll. 3. Mango salmon roll -- my favorite -- a delicious interplay because the silky and unctuous salmon and the perfectly ripe mangos. Never had anything like it and could eat one of these rolls almost every day and not get tired of it. 4. Red Dragon Roll -- nowhere near as spicy as something touting 'reaper mayo' would lead one to believe but still nice interplay because the tuna tartare, cucumber, salmon and soy glaze. Should also mention that all the fish was super fresh and the contact free ordering process was simple. Will definitely be back.

    I had a lovely lunch at Elements the other day. Everything on the menu looked fantastic- I had a hard time choosing. All the entrees come with soup or side salad. I ended up choosing the poke bowl with a side salad. My dining companions chose walnut prawns and shrimp pad Thai. Everything was amazing! The ambiance was very beautiful and calming- it's almost as if they're going for a spa vibe there. The service was nice, although a little slow for people on a lunch break from work- on the other hand that could have been intentional and not hurried, so I'm not complaining, just taking note. We also shared the Elements pie for dessert- it was a chocolate mousse on an Oreo crust with raspberries. So delicious and perfect for sharing after such a nice meal!

Gets nostalgia points but just okay overall and good if you are on a budget for sushi.

The Positive: Both of our meals came with excellent rice that was fluffy and fragrant, and a small side salad with a standard ginger dressing. The Disappointment: My Shrimp Katsu was highly disappointing. It tasted nothing like shrimp and resembled processed meat, similar to imitation crab, but shaped like mozzarella sticks drizzled with sweet mayo. The texture and flavor were clearly not fresh shrimp. My wife's Beef Teriyaki was also underwhelming. The beef was chewy and served over soggy lettuce, with a very basic, overly sweet teriyaki glaze. The Service The lone waitress was polite but demonstrated poor customer service skills. The most jarring part of the meal was when she began to hover near our table while we were eating, making us feel rushed. At 8:20 PM, she told us they were closing at 8:30 PM, pressuring us to finish quickly. Their Google listing clearly states a 9:00 PM closing time. This is a casual, fun, Asian-Latin fusion restaurant and bar. Inside, the space is divided into two sides: bar and dining room. A big "LUCHA TIGRE" covers one of the bar walls and pop art decorates the main dining room wall. They also have a somewhat spacious, partially-covered patio. Overall, it's got a neat vibe. I booked our reservations on Lucha Tigre's website at https://luchatigre.com/ The reservation process was unconventional because instead of getting booked immediately, I had to wait for an email confirmation. On a Sunday, I got a "Pending Reservation Request" email at 2:16pm followed by a confirmation email at 2:52pm, so a 36-minute turnaround time. I got us a same-day reservation at 5pm, not a peak time as evidenced by the lack of customers upon our arrival. However, business had picked up by the time we left around 6:30. The menu had an interesting selection of food and drink. A few good examples of the Asian-Latin fusion served here include General Tso's Chicken Empanadas ($5 each), Pozole Ramen ($15.99), and Pad Thai Al Pastor ($16.99). They also serve straight-up Asian and Latin dishes like pho ($14.99) and tacos ($2 and $4 each). Drink-wise, they had a full bar with a decent selection that included tequila, mezcal, and sake cocktails. They even had a cocktail made with Japanese Suntory Whisky Toki. Here's what my wife and I had: Bebidas Especiales (cocktails) * El Conquistador ($14) - Tequila Herradura Silver, freshly-squeezed citrus, Cointreau Tapas * Tuna Tiradito ($16.99) - sashimi tuna with aji amarillo pepper, onions, cilantro, roasted corn nuts, and fresh citrus; Nikkei cuisine * Bulgogi Nachos ($15.99) - giant-size nachos with Korean BBQ beef, pico, kimchi, cheese, crema, jalapenos, black beans Entrees * Salmon Poke ($18.99) - raw salmon with sesame, onion, and tamari with seaweed salad, rice, and avocado * Pollo Saltado ($16.99) - stir-fried chicken, tomato, cilantro, onion; served over fries with rice and salad In general, we were happy or content with everything. Some dishes were better than others. Beautiful presentation all around. The El Conquistador was a margarita that was more tart and less sweet. It was refreshing. I liked the Tuna Tiradito more than my wife. Tiradito is like Peruvian sashimi. I thought this dish was fine. I could see why my wife didn't like it as much because the texture of the tuna wasn't as fresh and appetizing as the tuna sashimi we're accustomed to. This tuna was a bit more "pasty" in texture. Also, the roasted corn nuts, which we think were the same as hominy, didn't add much. The standout dish was the Bulgogi Nachos. I saw pictures of it on Yelp and knew we had to order it. The portion size was huge and the Korean beef bulgogi was sweet and savory. We devoured the nachos. They were incredibly delicious and addictive. A lot of textures and flavors, and they all blended and worked well together. The Salmon Poke was solid. I recommend it if you like poke. Admittedly, it was better than we both expected because we haven't encountered a lot of great poke in the Chapel Hill-Durham area. Decent portions and fresh salmon, seaweed salad, and other ingredients. I will say the rice tasted plain and not seasoned with rice vinegar. The poke came with two sauces on the side, tamari (a type of Japanese soy sauce) and what I think was a type of curry sauce. The salmon was already nicely marinated and tasty so the sauces weren't needed. The Pollo Saltado was OK. It wasn't among the best I've had, but it was "authentic." The problems with this dish were the chicken was too dry and tough and the fries were underseasoned (not salty enough). Unfortunately, the salad was the best part of this dish. Our server Taryn was great. She was attentive and efficient. Everything we ordered came out fairly quickly. One detail I really liked and appreciated was Taryn neatly packed our leftovers and labeled and dated the boxes. That's an extra level of service you don't get at most other sit-down restaurants. Not so positive: parking can be tough, the lot is always packed. I think it is a shared lot because the restaurant was pretty empty during my visit today. i have visited twice now (jan 2026 & may 2026) and i order a decent amount of food for the table to share. Both times, every plate has been room temperature. Thats super disappointing especially since the Korean dishes we ordered are typically served very hot (and in clay pots). It would be fine if my food was even remotely warm, but that hasnt been the case for either of my visits. Our food took a very long time to come out, which would have also been fine had the food came out hot, so i am wondering why it took so long to send out cold food? Also, for some reason there was a strong odor of some sort permeating through the beer hall. I couldnt place what it was but it was not pleasant for me. I feel like i am rarely sensitive to smells but i had to spritz a perfume to mask it. It might've just been a cleaning product or something, not sure. Something to note is that you have to pay for the banchan here. This is typically served with your meals for no additional cost as they are considered 'essential' to your meal. So a charge for them was surprising for me.
