Came in to see if I could get my brakes looked at and the mechanic was so terribly rude I will NOT be back. With the amount of $ I spend on service and parts for my bike, I will not put up with that type of attitude. They apparently don't need any business. Great selection of brands, wonderful staff, and a great training facility! This store has it all and treats their customers exceptionally. 1- I have purchased 3 bikes (2 Cross, 1 Road) from Element for a reason, they know their business and products, and they respect their customers. They are focused on matching the right product to the customer's needs, not what makes the store the most money. 2- They take care of their customers. Lorraine (the owner) has personally worked with me on a couple purchases and really knows her bikes, she has never steered me wrong. Not to mention, she is a delight to talk to, she truly loves what she does. She also values her customers, as does the whole shop, which really makes a difference when you need a quick adjustment or tweak, not to mention when you make your next purchase. 3- This is my second year using their E-Lab training facility. Group and private coaching have made me the strongest rider that I have ever been on a bike. Low integrity Bike Shop. Recommend anywhere else. Brought my Felt in as I was having issues that felt like drivetrain issues. The mechanics test rode the bike and did a visual inspection. Then recommended $518 worth of material and labor. Eager to get my bike back to normal I accepted. Received a call from the mechanic 4 days later indicating the work was all done but the Cf frame was broken and the bike not rideable. The recommendation was to see what Felt would do for me. I did at a local Felt dealer in Redmond. The issue was entirely my fault and I'm awaiting the new frame from Felt. The work Element recommended and performed was entirely unnecessary and a gross lack of integrity. There are many great bike shops in Redmond WA. Steer clear of Element. I will ensure none of my friends and family are taken advantage of. read more

I went today for my complentary anual bike service and I was surprised with the great service! They spend over half an hour checking, adjusting and cleaning my bike. My Norco bike feels like new again. My husband tried to get the same service at the gercks store and guess what they only dedicate 10 miss or less to check the bike a little bit of oil and that was it! He was jealous that I got a better service. read more

I needed to have my bike tuned up and happened to walk by Element. Based on the Yelp reviews, I gave it a try. I made an appointment and was pleasantly surprised when they finished the next day (as the person when I called set my expectations for a few days). I also appreciated that they did not upcharge me - I was almost sure that they'd call and tell me that my bike was shot and I needed a new one. I also thought that I needed a new tire tube which I mentioned but I didn't after all. I also asked a very ignorant question when I picked up and the person was very nice. Element cycles is everything a bike store should be. A curated selection of high quality bikes, patient and knowledgable staff, and a thorough service dept. I recently bought a Norco mountain bike. Before I bought it, they spent a lot of time walking me through different options and styles of bicycles. I test drove the bikes at their store, and also took a couple out to the trails through their demo program. At the same time, a friend brought his bike in for repairs. They went over the bike in detail and thoroughly explained its current state. They told him that some of the repairs he thought he needed were actually unnecessary, thus saving him money. This is the kind of straightforward and honest service that creates long term customers. I live in downtown Seattle, but drive out to Redmond because the folks at Element are awesome. Recently into biking and Element Cycles has a sign that directs you to the shop off the Burke Gillman bike trail!! Genius!! Get people already on bikes to come to your bike shop to buy clothes, gloves, lights, tubes and such -- and in my case it works!! I have stopped in a few times and found the staff very helpful and the inventory very good. Helpful staff with beginner riders (me) but also appears to cater to hardcore too. Anything they sell they offer to put on the bike if you have it - and are nice about it - I have purchased lights, gloves, jersey and some other odds and ends. OK, I am not the most techno rider and I don't know all the cool slang about parts and bikes but I do know good service when I get it. The staff at Element cycle could not be more friendly and helpful with my questions and service for my old bike. There was no snootiness and the manager went out of her way to make sure my experience was great! I went to Element Cycles to buy my wife a new bike for Christmas. I was very impressed with the customer service, expertise, and bike options. I purchased a Bianchi and It made for a wonderful present under (next to) the Christmas tree. After Christmas we took the new bike in for a detailed fitting. I am a long time customer of this shop having formerly been a loyal customer of their previous shop "Sammamish Valley Cycles" the last 18 years and would estimate that I have in total spent over $20K combined at the two shops in the last 20 years. My favorite and only hobby is cycling as my time is limited as a physician. Over the last few years I have noted that their repair shop service has deteriorated to the point of incompetence with the exception of only one mechanic who works there part time. Over the last few weeks I have had issues with my dropper seat post that they finally replaced with a new one. Today after 10 min of riding the cable came out of the remote making it not useable. It was clear that no one even tried inspecting their work after it was completed. I have had on previous occasions had work supposedly done, and the bike was in the same shape as when I dropped it off. This is a shop that sells bikes in excess of $10K yet has mechanics who are sloppy, lack attention to detail, and simply don't care. I have reached the point that I don't trust their work which is also potentially dangerous as they don't address issues that have potential for bad outcomes. Sadly after so many years I will never bring my bike back to Element Cycles. They are overly focused on revenue and do not appreciate that when one purchases a high end bike there should be an expectation that with that purchase should also be excellent service as it pertains to maintenance and repairs. read more

Atrocious customer service, cocky staff. Walked in looking for a kids bike. Received acknowledgement by guy at counter via eye contact and head nod; he then went back to talking with his colleague. No "Hi" or "How can I help?" or "What are you looking for?" I could tell that he had already decided that we were going to be wasting his time. I asked if they had the bike size I was looking for and was told no, but was offered other choices which didn't really fit my needs. Fair enough. I looked at helmets too and didn't find one my kid wanted. All throughout, my interaction with this associate was professional but cold as hell. No attempt to warm up or be friendly. I thanked him and started walking out. As I'm doing so, another associate, not knowing about the last 5 mins, comes up to me and asks if he can help us. I said no, we were just leaving and kept walking. To which I heard him say behind my back, "You don't have to leave. Stay if you'd like." I was in no mood to escalate the situation and quietly left, but WTF!!!!! read more

The people at this shop are extremely helpful. I was in the market for my first new bike in 15+ years (previous bike was bought in 1988 (Fuji Cadenza) which I donated 15+ years ago. I had so many questions and they were very patient with me...even after several trips to Element and other local stores. Element allowed me to borrow several different bikes to test out on local Sammamish River Trail to get a feel of what would work out best for me. I primarily ride paved trails and city, so I ended up getting a BMC Alpenchallenge AC02 series bike, and I've been very happy with it. They were very helpful and the purchase price includes maintenance for 1 year, which is great since I don't have a lot of experience with that (yet). Their prices seem to be on par with other bike shops in the area. read more

Had some work done on my road bike here. Rear derailleur and hanger. When it was done I got the phone call and they told me they replaced my chain, which was work I never approved. If they'd called and told me a new chain was needed, I probably would have said yes. It's just the principle of them doing the work to make extra money off me. Being an auto technician myself, I'd never do unapproved work. That's just wrong. So that was disappointing. On top of that, they loosened my brakes (which have plenty of meat left on them) and told me I need brake work. They work just fine now that I undid that. They did a good job on repairing the broken derailleur and aligning the gears right and the bike rides pretty nice. I paid a reasonable price for the work I had done, and in the end I was satisfied. This bike shop has a pretty good reputation but I didn't personally have the best experience here. I kinda found them shady. I already fix cars, maybe it's time I learn to fix bikes too... read more

Over the past several years, and several bicycle purchases, Element Cycles has quickly become my favorite cycling store in the Seattle area. There are a few things that I think really make the experience at Element unique. First, I am almost always eagerly greeted - it is just a very friendly environment. Lorraine, the general manager, is super passionate and knowledgeable about the industry; Greg is just fun and a great bike fitter; Nick, the service manager, has fixed several things for my bikes over the years and Misha and Ricky are always there to help or just let us browse. Most of these folks know me by name, all of them recognize me visually. Secondly, I really enjoy just browsing in the store. They carry a really great inventory of intro to high end bicycles and components, and have the best Demo program around, especially if you are looking to score on a well maintained but demo'd bike at the end of the year. I just went for a bike tune up. It was a fix after someone else's not very good work of putting my new bike together, from another shop, to be exact. What I got at Element Cycles is a symphony! I felt that my bike was a violin and I got a symphony. I can't tell you the beauty with which it was tuned and how it rides now! Till today I thought that what I had was as good as it gets, but oh my was I wrong. As of today, there is about no sound to my bike, gears are shifting as butter (I don't like butter, but it is a good comparison here). Today my bike was upgraded to another level! I feel that for the first time I got my money's worth for the bike. Also to mention, I have a limited bike vocabulary but still it was very easy for me to communicate about my bike. My expert bike mechanic :) listened, checked the bike, and figure it all out. I also got good tips for my bike and smoother rides in the future. Thank you Element Cycles and thanks to my expert mechanic for the violin like bike tune up. And for you, when it doubt, just go to Element Cycles. This review describes my experience of today, however, my partner has been trusting them with his bikes for a long time and has always gotten a premium service. I found Element Cycles while looking for Norco bikes. I needed some information about a Norco cruiser. They're hard to find. Element had one but it was still in the box. I told them that I just wanted to check the bike out, but that I was going to buy it from my neighborhood shop. They went above and beyond. They assembled it overnight so I could check it out. I was doing a loop around Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish when my Fuji road bike had a spoke break around Marymoor Park, with 25 miles to go. Brought it into Element Cycles to see if there was anything to do, and they took it right then and fixed it in under half an hour. My experience has typically been having to leave my bike over for a day so I seriously appreciate them helping me out in a pinch. read more

Stopped in because my wife's Specialized Tricross lost a screw holding the rear fender in place while we were riding back from Woodinville on the Lake Sammamish trail. Walked in with the bike and Misha was there to help me immediately. He asked how he could help and in about eight minutes the fender was reattached and solid. I asked what the damage was and Misha said it was on him. My wife and I are avid bikers, and since moving up from Portland two years ago we haven't really found a bike shop with the type of service we were getting from River City Bikes. Well, Misha just earned two customers and since we have a five year old daughter we will be getting her bikes there as well. I know it seems like a little thing, a simple couple dollar repair, but as someone who works in sales, its was refreshing to walk into a Redmond business with that level of customer service. I had my credit card out and Misha could have easily charged me the two bucks and I would have been happy to pay. But instead, his act of customer service has now guaranteed my family spends hundreds if not thousands of dollars there over the next few years. read more

Place to avoid for mechanical maintenance, I can't tell for the rest of services, no serious, went for one spoke replacement and took 20 days, after so long, when I picked up my wheel and I got home, I realized that the brake rotor was not in the wheel, I asked them and they were unable to find... Seriously?, I bring back my bike and they placed one cheap rotor (one of the cheapest they had in the shop because they did not have the locking part for one XT as I had originally).... I ended with a low quality rotor instead of my XT, seriously? I took it because I did not want to wait longer or doing more business with them.... If you are looking for a serious shop, this not the place. read more

Small retail and excellent customer service are not dead. Need proof? Look no further than the great team at Element Cycles in Redmond, WA. Believe it or not, there are still consumers that place a high value on service and product expertise, they won't be disappointed with Element. I became a customer last summer, while in search of a new road bike. I don't buy on impulse and had visited many of the local cycling shops to find the right bike. I initially went to Element because of the product line they carry: excellent quality, performance bicycles. Of course, they delivered on that front. However, that was just a part of the equation. What they really sold me on was the knowledge, passion for the sport, and excellent customer service of the entire staff. For me, the greatest measure of the professionalism of an organization is not how you're treated during the sales process, it's how you're treated after buying. Well, there is a reason I enjoy going into Element now, to hang out and "kick tires", these guys are just cool and totally stoked about cycling, and stoked that you're a cyclist. Plus, it's always fun to check out the latest bikes! Last summer was a new road bike for me - a sweet BMC Team Machine - this summer will be a new mountain bike. No doubts on where I'll be buying. I was surprised by how incredibly friendly and helpful everyone in the store was. But then it turned out I wasn't ready to spend the amount they clearly wanted me to. They were all eager for me to rent a bike and try it out, telling me that they had several models that they wanted me to ride. But when I brought back the first one I rented, all of a sudden it was "oh, sorry, there aren't any other models that would be good for you". They said that they were positive I would like the Norco Search (a disc brake version of the Norco Valence that I had rented), which actually does seem like the right idea for my budget and needs. But then I had to pester them to take down my information and promise to let me know when the bike comes in (it is a 2015 model and isn't available yet). I would definitely recommend this shop if you are planning on dropping at least $4K, but otherwise I think they are no better than any other bike shop. read more

What can you say but wow when you walk in to a candy store that actually stocks top of the line Colnago and BMC bikes. I saw that the old Sammamish Valley Cycles was moving and they did.....while rebranding in to an amazing place that calling it a bike store would do it a complete injustice. Element Cycles is simply beautiful. I had gone here to get some tubular tires glued up, and have found a new store to get all of my work done at now. WOW!!! I used to like SVC, but not Element cycles. I bought Garmin and Lightmotion light from them while they were SVC. I had problem with my Garmin last year. They promised me that they will call Garmin and ask if the warranty still covers that. It took them 2 weeks to finally called Garmin (until I called them) and it wasn't resolved. Secondly, last month my lightmotion is stopped working. I asked if warranty still exists or the unit can be send to Lightmotion for repair. They never called me until I call them again and never call me back again. And yesterday I was going to buy Garmin heart rate monitor. The sales man said "hmmhh.. I'm not sure if we have it, but let me ask". He went to the back. After waiting for five minutes he came back and I asked him if they have it. And he said "Ooops.. I forgot to ask"... The manager (the lady) told me that they don't have it and said that they can order it... and I just left. I made a decision not to go there anymore. I will never buy Pinarello, BMC, and Colnago (those are not my preference) so I wouldn't even bother going there anymore. Note: I never bought a bike from them, but I think if you have purchased bike and spend thousand dollars then they will take care of you. But that's not the case if you only spend hundreds of dollars. read more

My fiance and I did the Sammamish River Trail last Sunday with some friends and when we stopped for a quick snack break my fiance said her bike felt like the front tire had a flat spot. This tire was only two weeks old and we found two bubbles on it. Our friends said the Element Cycles was close by so we went there. What a nice suprise. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We decided to replace both nobby tires with some hybrid type and it took less that a half hour. We were able to complete our trip in the alloted time. They even held the take-off tires for us to pick up later that day. GREAT SERVICE! read more
