I would highly recommend this shop for carbon fiber bike repair. I have a Trek Emonda that is candy apple red in color. I had a small chip repaired by the bottom bracket. The first repair had a bit of a problem so I contacted Irvin, one of the owners, and he delivered some of the best customer service that I have experienced. He said he would take care of it immediately, came to my house and picked up the bike, and gave it priority for the repair. I had cracks radiating from the lower pivot on my old Turner Czar. The carbon was cracking all around the bearing on the left side of the rear triangle. I gave the rear end to Element 6 and they repaired it so it looks almost as good as new, and it has their warranty. I used to ride my Bianchi fixed gear 3-4 times a week but last year I parked it in my back yard left it there for about a year. Recently I've been motivated to get back in shape but my bike had flats and was falling apart from neglect. I searched for local bike shops and found out Element 6 was a few miles away! After a little bit of research I realized they specialized in custom bicycle automotive grade paint jobs. So I wasn't sure if they would take in my fixie and bring it back to life. After a quick phone call they suggested for me to bring it in to take a look. The owner and Brady inspected my bike and called out several issues that I had not noticed. They performed a tune up, basic clean, new tubes and a few days later I got the call that my bike was ready. Excited, I showed up, closed the transaction and test rode my bike and fell in love w/ my steel framed fixie all over again! These guys are professional bike technicians with a passion for proper bicycle care for bike enthusiasts, regardless if you're a high end rider or a person trying to get back on the bike like myself. I Should've come to this shop sooner! IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS, PEOPLE ARE HATERS! I had recently bought my vintage 1997 F700 Volvo Edition Cannondale Bike and it was in major need of servicing. When I walked in the shop, one of the staff immediately recognized the bicycle and got me super pumped up about how lucky I was to have purchased this bike at a steal ($200). He went into detail about his personal history with my bike model and the market value of my bike. He then explained the service they would perform for $150. That within a couple of days I'd be picking up a brand new bike. And that as part of their service(s) performed, they required dismantling the entire bike, cleaning the frame, restoring the paint, the components, and re-lubricating the Head shock fork. Basically, a complete refurbishing of my bicycle. Surely, I thought it was all hype but to my surprise, when I picked up the bike, I walked right past it, thinking it was someone else's bike. If you value quality, look no further! These guys are the real deal and represent the art of true craftsmanship. I used to visit my local bike shop but after coming here, I can appreciate paying a little extra for quality work. I cannot wait to bring my other 2 bikes to get them upgraded and refurbished. If I could give this company negative stars I would definitely do so!!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ELEMENT 6 THIS BUSINESS IS SUCH A SCAM!!!! The owner JOHN TZINBERG IS A LIAR AND A CROOK!!!!!!! ELEMENT6 moved to this new location because of all the horrible business he's been doing in orange country!!!! Took my bike to his shop to have it repaired and painted... first off: when I dropped off my bike I was told that it would take 2-3 weeks to complete ,it also said that on their website it took John a year and 2months to complete within all that time I always got excuses and constant lies about my bike and why it was taking so long!!! When I finally went to pick up my bike a year and 2months later I immediately noticed the poor paint job it honestly looked like a crackhead painted it with a spray can ,besides all the scratches everywhere on the bike there was no clear coat.. I questioned John about it and he tried to tell me that it's my eyes AND IT HAS FULL GLOSSY CLEAR ON IT? ,then he said it's because of my frame material,then he tried to tell me it was his employees fault although he told me that he was painting it himself because he cannot find a painter and he's been painting for over 30years, he up sold me to do a complete paint job on the bike although it only needed a spot repair and paint as recommended by specialized in Costa Mesa but I was sold at the time when he gave me the option to choose my color and logos.. (I should've just stuck with the spot repair) SECOND: he said the carbon repair would be stronger than before it cracked. The day I picked it up I took it for a ride not even 5min. After I started the my ride the repair area cracked in half rear tire came off, I was on the sidewalk in the front of my home not a trail. I had to go to the emergency room and get 16 stitches in my leg because the frame snapped and went straight through my leg!!!! I inspected the bike and repairs when I got home from the hospital and noticed that there was a lot of bondo "body filler" on the repair and no new carbon as John said there would be! I called ELEMENT6 to tell John about this issue and everything that happened and asked him if I could bring the bike in to show him the bondo and crack he blatantly told me it's my fault and to fuck off and sue him "his exact words" but not to come in(as if he was expecting a call from me because he knew what a terrible job he did) he also commented to me that he is a private investigator and x police officer so law enforcement won't do anything to him and will make my life a living hell if I do take this to court (although he's the one that recommended it?)as he has my address and all my information on the work order so I reported this to sapd 2 months ago!! How can a shop tune up a customer's bike and not fucking do a good job making sure everything is tighten and in place before giving it back to the customer. This "seat post & paint" repair job has been a nightmare. The excuses were non-stop and the their mistakes consistently minimized. First off, I chose Element6 based on two things. 1. Referred by Santa Cruz; 2. Element6 website clearly states "We set turn around times and deliver on time." and "Carbon Repair and Paint - Current turn around time is 3 weeks or less.*" https://www.element6.us/faq versus a competitor stating a 4 week turnaround time. After the second time returning the bike to be finished properly, I needed to be assured the paint will be repaired per you website with "HIGHEST QUALITY OF WORKMANSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE" https://www.element6.us/services Element6 is a BS operation that'll tell you what you want to hear and do whatever they want at their leisure. During the debacle, we arranged for him to upgrade the drive train on my girlfriend's bike from a 2x10 to a 1x12 at a reduced price to compensate for all the hassles. We go for a ride and discover; the seat post collar is not tightened. I tightened it and the dropper post would not go up all the way. I loosened it a bit and it's now working. We needed to replace the presta valve core on her rear tire. So we swing by Win's Wheels in Westlake Village, CA, the best mechanics around!!! Mike had worked on her bike before and he noticed, a 12 speed road bike chain on her bike. We immediately replaced it as the 'road' chain wasn't seating on the cassette teeth properly and could be a safety issue.I contacted Element 6 asking to refund the cost of the chain. No response. This guy is nothing but a hack. read more

I highly suggest you take your frame somewhere else for painting. Here is a list of issues I had with this company: - They painted my frame the wrong color I had requested even after sending them emails of photos of an S-Works frame I wanted them to copy. Also, I asked for holographic paint on the two logos on the frame but instead I got white paint and an excuse saying "it's too hard to do holographic paint on words." - They didn't prep and mask the frame right before painting so I had to sand down the rear drop outs or cable insert area on the headtube. The rear wheel wouldn't go in because of excess clear coat and the whole where the brake house goes in for the rear brake needs an guide insert. That small part wouldn't sit flush because of excess paint/clear coat and I had to sand down the inside of the frame for the part to go in all the way. - The clear coat came off before I was done assembling the bike when trying to remove a sticker. I spoke to another bicycle frame painter about this and they said Element 6 didn't clear coat the frame right. - He asked me to ship the frameset with the seatpost collar, lost it, and never replaced it. After a week or two of waiting on him, I decided to source it myself. He at least reimbursed me for it but still! He even said "are you sure you sent me the seatpost collar? I can't find it anywhere." I resent him the email showing him where I had placed the seapost collar in the box before shipping it to him. What an idiot. Of course, they will reply to this review saying I approved the design before the work started. However, a PDF drawing looks nothing like the finished product. I told him what paint I wanted, he is the paint expert, I am not. I showed examples of what paint color I wanted, he didn't match it, he claims to be a Specialized approved painter, but I got something completely different. Some of the reviews on here claim the same issues I've had so it's not just me. read more

An excellent job! I got a hole punched in from a crash wherein the top tube impacted. The entire job took a wee bit longer than expected but I am very satisfied with John's work! I needed a repair on my carbon windsurfing booms that broke completely in half. I wasn't sure if a bike shop could repair it but by the website, these guys sounded adept to say the least. So I took it in personally to see what they would say. I was expecting that they would say no we don't do that sort of thing here, but Richard and John were more than happy to accept the challenge. These guys are knowledgeable and passionate - masters at their work. I am officially a loyal customer as I brought my windsurfing board in two days later because I thought I saw a small crack in it and was nervous that it might soak up water. They could have said yes it would leak, just to make some money but that's not what they're about. They brought the fiberglass/epoxy guy in and he reassured me that it would not take on water and if I crack it worse then I can bring it in to be drained and repaired. I will not go anywhere else and feel great that I have Richard and John to depend on for these important repairs when needed. Did I mention they are saving me $650 by not having to buy new booms? Your facts are so wrong it is insane, your story continues to change. You are not good at what you do, you are horrible at painting bikes and running a business. The bike was dropped off the day before thanksgiving not before Christmas. I was never given the opportunity to approve the paint before the gloss was put on, in fact in our email chain it is clear I did not approve that. I never said I was a student, I have not been a student in almost a decade! You continue to fabricate and change your story, you have no clue what you are doing as a business owner. Update on the bike! After John attempted to fix the paint for the second time it began to chip again shortly after. I own 5 bikes and it is the only bike I own that the paint chips when putting the front wheel on and off. I have filed a dispute with Master Card for a portion of the payment towards the work. I no longer wish for John to work on my property as it is clear he does not know what he is doing. I have shared this story with multiple people in the bike community and I have come to find out this is not the first time John screws someone over and delivers a poor job. Someone I ride with regularly in fact had a bad experience with John and swears to never have him work on one of his bikes again. I no longer wish to deal with this nightmare of working with John but is important people know the truth. read more

I had a niner bike since 2010 and loved and still love it. The carbonframe broke at the worst place. The cups for the bearings came loose and I thought that bike is trash now. I would need a new, expensive frame. But John looked at it and said he can fix it. And that was true. He did fix it and saved it! It runs like new. Not only the carbon frame but also the shifting and other work done. For a super deal price. Great workmanship, super fast and really decent pricing. His estimate was straight on and he did not go up with extra costs with the addition work done. If I could give it 6stars I would. Surely the best bike shop I know. And I ran a Toyota dealership for 16 years. John and his team are awesome, friendly and know what they do. read more

Great Job by Element 6. Had a head on crash with another bike on the SART. Fork was cracked so I sent it to Element 6 for an evaluation. After a thorough inspection they found internal wear on the head tube and recommended that I buy a new fork instead of repairing it. Good call as a repaired fork tube could have been catastrophic. Once I got the new fork it didn't match, so John painted it and made custom graphics to match the bike. Couldn't have asked for a better job or service. read more
