I really wanted to love this appointment because the salon itself had a nice, calm atmosphere and the finished nails look pretty overall. Unfortunately, the service did not meet my expectations. I provided appointment notes ahead of time explaining what I wanted, but those preferences and the service I received did not match what I had requested. The acrylic removal process was uncomfortable, as my previous set was filed and pried off rather than soaked off. During the appointment, one side of my nail was over-filed and remains sore. I was also disappointed that no cuticle care or traditional manicure was performed. Looking closely at the finished set, there are areas where the product does not fully cover the sides of the nail and the detailing around the cuticles appears unfinished. The salon was clean, quiet, and relaxing, and the nails are pretty at first glance. However, I expected better communication, more attention to detail, and greater care for the health of my natural nails. read more

It's not an upscale place. If you like attention to detail and getting a top service for your money, it's not here. The quality of nail job wasn't good and nails looked bad in a short time. No attention to comfort or massage as with all mani and pedis I've had that's a pleasurable part of it. Also, the milking of $$ manipulation, add on here and there. Not respecting people and giving value for their (hard worked for) money.. prevalent here and a sign of the times. I'm really displeased with my most recent gel manicure. It started lifting on my thumb right away. They fixed the thumb after i waited 30 minutes after making an appointment. Now, just 5 days later, it's literally jumping off! I've never seen this happen before. The man who did my manicure was new to me. He was fairly tall. As a consumer it's important to leave good and bad reviews. I've been getting my nails done for many years. I thought is was odd, I was the only person here during a Saturday afternoon. When I went to pay, I understood why. I had the French dip polish change and I was floored when they charged me $70 dollars. I had to confirm this twice, I thought I heard her wrong. NOPE! She said it was because they used 2 colors. Never ever elsewhere have i been charged this amount for French dip polish change. Lesson learned. I gave this salon three tries because it is close to my home and prior reviews indicated that the woman who runs it is capable of doing nails. I walked in for my appointment yesterday and the salon reeked of cigarette smoke! There was only one customer. She was not smoking. I asked the nail technicians if that was cigarette smoke I smelled and they both denied it. It was worse in the back of the shop where the break room is. I worked here for 9 months. Finally decided to quit due to their unsanitary cleanliness and lack of business. Files and buffers are washed with soap and water and reused on each client. Pedicure tubs aren't properly sanitized. They are sprayed down with Clorox and wiped down. They are supposed to be left running for 10 minutes with EPA solution. That never happens. I was disgusted when I saw Sarah save the paraffin wax she used on a client & put it back in the paraffin warmer. Their appearance is deceiving. I regret not leaving sooner when I saw this happening. I walked in for a basic pedicure - $30 which was supposed to include hot towel and foot/leg massage, all of which are pretty standard. My biggest complaint is the lack of sensitivity of the technician. My feet are not very flexible and she continued to try to bend my toes toward her off the edge of the foot rest. I complained, looked in pain (had she bothered to notice) and finally came forward to the edge of the chair to try to stretch the way she wanted my feet. After completing this process, she went to rinse off my feet and sprayed my legs with very cold water. She did not check it and it could have been very hot. Either way is not relaxing and enjoyable. The massage was running her hands up and down my legs a couple of times until she was distracted talking to another technician. No foot massage at all. The hot towel experience was one small towel laid across the front of both my legs for about 2 minutes. Checking out was also a painful process. She couldn't get my credit card to work, asked for help and both individuals kept bending my card until I was afraid it was going to break. There was no sign but finally I asked if they took AmEx and they responded no, laughing but this 5 minute procedure wasn't over. My Visa went threw easily but then she asked me if I wanted a receipt and I said yes. Both individuals could not figure out how to print me a receipt. read more

I have been looking for a new nail salon for awhile, who knew I had such a great place to go right down the street from me! The new owner Lynn is so kind, and the way she does my nails is FANTASTIC! They are shaped correctly, all of them are even, and she takes her time when applying the acrylic and sanding them so they are not thick! I walked out the first time I went here I was in awe at how beautiful my nails were. I have been getting them done for years and they have never looked this nice! Uneven toe nail trim, sloppy gel polish. I was very disappointed and will never go there again.

Granddaughter came in for mani pedi $20 and within 4 hours it had completely come off. We went back the next day. Sara got very upset and said the reason was she put on her socks and shoes within 20 minutes but we had to wait for our friend, a loyal customer who comes once every 2 weeks and her 'card club' ladies. It was over an hour. Our friend, who has acrylic nails done ever 2 weeks and it was more than 20 minutes while we were there and she put her socks on. She witnessed Sara attitude and even stated she was going to tell her friends. Sara re-did her finger nails but refused to do her toes. At $20 for a child's mani pedi, she should have re- done them both. While salon does have a vast selection of polish, you know most is old as several bottles are separating colors and oil. There are too many other salons in this area to be treated this way and do business this way. Oh, the person that gave this place an excellent review, is actually the owner. Said she didn't know the person that complained about the improper cleaning, yeah...right! I believe them! Not a good place. read more

I had a great experience at this nail salon because of the new owner and their services are great. Very clean environment and newly remodel interior. All the ladies are nice and very customer service oriented. I switched from dip nail to Acrylic because it takes less time to get fills, is less expensive, and since I swim it protects my nails more and then dip. Since the new ownership they offer a 10% discount so I recommend trying this salon now. Lynn did my nails and they look beautiful! read more

NEVER COMING BACK. I'm from out of town so I thought I'd get my nails done but I should have ran for the door when I noticed how gross the place was. They had no liners for the tub where you get your pedis and I saw nail clipping still in a tub next to mine. None the less I went on with my pedi. My pedi turned out looking like a two year old did it. Not to mention it wasn't even relaxing. On top of wondering how clean the place actually was all I could think about is what are these ladies saying. They spoke in another language very loudly and continued to laugh. Update: The salon has been remodeled, painted, etc; looks much bigger (and even more "elegant") now with more stations (esp for pedi) and a whole new large polish display. My experience here was not Bad but I will try to not come back or, at least not have the same technician do my nails. I came in for a pedicure and gel manicure and the young man who did both hardly spoke to me and just didn't give me a welcoming feeling. He did say that appointments are a good idea because they are starting to get busy. If they're so busy I don't know why they only have 4 people working in there. I got a French manicure and of course, not until I got home I saw that he painted the white ABOVE my natural white so now that my nails have grown a little a week later it looks terrible. Today was my first time at Elegant Nails. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure, it came to $55. Sarah did both my mani and pedi and did a great job! We had a nice conversation, but she also let me relax. She gave me GREAT massages that were pretty long and was very gentle with my cuticles. I will definitely be back. ** After getting home and seeing my nails in normal light, I realized the colors that were supposed to be a match between gel (hands) and regular polish (toes) do NOT match. This nail salon is close proximity to home which is why I have frequented it. However, I have not been there lately and refuse to go ever again. It is so rude of the employees to sit there and speak in their language and burst out laughing. One has no clue what they are laughing about and it could be totally unrelated but it sure makes it uncomfortable. It isn't the same salon it was when Tim owned it. I am not religious about mani/pedis but I probably get one every 2 months...and when I do I go here. The girls that work here are super sweet and most importantly take their time, and make sure you're happy. I have been to the place on La Canada and Lambert and the guys there are really creepy...and the place on Oracle and 1st where they rush you through and are NOT nice. There are 3 girls that work here and each one is awesome! I have even come back to get my chipped polish fixed and they never charge and are always happy to do it! They aren't open on Sundays which is kind of a bummer but they are open pretty late on week nights. I tried several other shops before going to Elegant Nails. The shop is clean, there are several polish colors to choose from, and every one is very nice. Three major things lacking in most nail salons around Oro Valley! You can choose from manicures, pedicures, waxing and facials. French is done by hand, no scraping your natural nail to get the look. Very relaxing. This is the only place I will go. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is by far my favorite nail place in town. When we first moved to OV I tried pretty much every other place. Then found this place and absolutely LOVE it. Staff is so friendly and accommodating. I bring my son who has autism and they are so kind to him. My mother owned her own salon and nail shop when I was growing up so I can spot bad practices but this place is clean. read more
