Everything at El Xampanyet was phenomenal! Food was delicious; fresh, full of flavor, and came out quickly. Of particular note was the black and white beans and the pork with peppers. So good! Service was helpful, fun, and multilingual. Menus were also available in multiple languages. This is a touristy area, but the restaurant had a very homey feeling. The space is very tight and the bathroom is basically a refrigerator box with a toilet. If you're claustrophobic, this may not be the place for you. But if you love amazing food and a fun atmosphere, you'll love it!
Ok I've tried all the tapas places I Barcelona and this by far the best with a long shot. Service is amazing, everyone is super friendly and take their time to explain and help you out. We were standing by the bar and still had one of the greatest culinary experience of my life. All the plates we took were perfection, the atmosphere inside is outstanding and the whole vibe is such electrified. You will wait in line outside so be prepared for that but it's definitely worth the wait. I love the host lady by the way, such a character.

Great service great beers. They offered us little topless even at the end they were all right. They denied us at first but good thing our friend Alex was in here. They let us in came in and got a beer very drunk. Only reason doesn't get five stars is because you know it's not a place to get a five star rating but the vibes for a late night we're very good sweetheart workers great place seems very clean cool people decent food good beer.
One of the best places you will ever eat in Barcelona. Small little Spanish tapas and beer place. Come ready to queue. We were placed at the standing bar - plenty of locals and tourists mixed in the place. The food is nothing but perfecto. We had the octopus, botifarra (recommended by the local next to us at the bar) which was like a fall apart in your mouth sausage & creamy mash, razor clams (must!) and olive oil tomato bread. The way they use salt, pepper and olive oil in most of their dishes makes every bit flavourful. Once you are in you don't need to wait long too. So good with vermouth to wash it all down. Hands down the best food we had in the city on our trip.
This place is worth the hype. Came 5minutes before opening to stand in line and made it inside for a table! The food and atmosphere were welcoming and friendly. Every tapa was delicious! And the house white wine/sparkling was delicious, perfect with the tapas. You can order half portions so can try more items that way. What a marvelous meal!

But don't worry, the line moves fairly quickly and of you are a small group and don't mind standing, you can snag a spot pretty quickly. I only waited 10-15 min. Staff were friendly and helpful and ambience was cool and lively. So many delicious options. I opted for the octopus spiced with paprika over mashed potato and cabbage, chick peas and pork jowl, and the razor clams. Everything was delicious! Definitely check it out for some delicious tapas in a fun and lively setting.

The restaurant is small but they squeeze a lot of people in; luckily we were sat in the first seating though the folks just after us were standing at the bar. Very friendly service that was very welcoming, we even met the owner who told us about the restaurant and recommended the pasta which was a nod to his mother. Some of our favorites include the pasta with cheese (recommended by the owner), the grilled pork, and calamari. The pasta almost seems italian but was very unique to a lot of other dishes we had in Spain; well cooked noodles, super savory and delicious sauce that is both sweet and salty from the tomatoes and cheese. The grilled pork was really good, high quality, and tender. The calamari was also super tender and flavorful in the oils and sauce. Wine was good and service was quick. This meal was definitely more expensive than our average meal in Barcelona though.
Heard this is a legendary restaurant and decided to have dinner here. The line was insane before the restaurant even opened. I waited in line for a while and had to stand at the bar to eat when it was my turn, and that's how popular this place is. The staffs were incredibly friendly considering how busy they were the whole time. Two of the six dishes I ordered tasted great(squid ink bean, razor clam). The rest tasted decent, but not amazing to me. I think most of the dishes were too salty for me. Considering I had to wait in line and had to stand through the whole dinner I don't think I can give it a full five star.
Fantastic experience as a solo diner, couldn't recommend enough! There was a very scary looking line when I arrived that looked like it would take hours, but if you are alone and willing to stand at the bar, you can definitely get seated within 30mins as it moves fairly quickly (though I'm unsure about larger parties). The vibe inside is incredible, and there is so much to take in. The servers are all very friendly and chatty, and if you're solo dining like I was, you definitely will not be bored! For the food, I just asked my server what he recommended and kept getting dishes until I was full. The food was super flavorful, fresh, and delicious without being too heavy or oily. The calamari is a must and my favorite dish, but you really can't go wrong! read more

Recommend coming here if your visiting Barcelona! It's one of the most popular tapas restauraunts. We waited in line at 11:45AM for 12PM lunch opening on Tuesday as we heard that the lunch wait is much shorter than dinner wait. There was already a small line but we were able to be seated at opening. It's quite small inside with some tables but if you don't get a table you can eat while standing at the bar. We also saw two tables outside as well. I highly recommend the squid and codfish omelette those were my absolute favorite dishes and deserve a 5 star!!! Also ordered the anchovies as they looked popular however they were a bit too salty and fishy for me. Dishes come out fat and service is good! read more
My favourite tapas place in all of Barcelona. We stopped by on a weekday and still had a good 30 mins wait. Trust me its worth it. We immediately ordered their tapas, house cava and vermut. We tried their razor clams, Catalan style pasta, perol sausage, iberian pork with grilled peppers and their chocolate truffles with olive oil. Yes we ordered a lot and every dish was beautifully made, bursting with freshness and unbeatable decadent flavors. This is a must visit tapas place during any trip to Spain. Service was quick and the place is buzzing with folks. All in all we had an awesome time here and highly recommend this spot. read more

My first tapas bar stop on this trip to Barcelona. It was cold outside and there was a line but we waited. It's small but packed with locals and tourists. Fresh fish, to die for shrimp, olives, etc. Everything was excellent and came out quick. We ordered many dishes twice. read more

opens at 12pm for lunch and 7pm for dinner...get there 30 minutes before opening to line up for first seating...the line will just keep getting longer and longer...restaurant is narrow and small...got first seating, so took a picture when fairly empty..it got packed in minutes...they will use every inch of the space to serve customers...even standing customers as long as there is a space to put the food down...people will stand, order and eat...we got a table next to the kitchen and it was nice to get a view of the action...everything is cooked fresh and fierce with flames flying everywhere...to start, we ordered the calamari 16,8 euros...anchovy 3,9 euros...bread 4 pieces for 2 euros...for the main, ordered the iberica 18,8 euros...pasta with cheese 12,9 euros..to drink, cava 4,3 euros and beer 2,9 euros...food is served relatively quickly to get people in and out efficiently...bread is the standard tomato rubbed bread and it was perfect with the anchovy ordered..perfect single anchovy that we deboned and savored on top of nice slices of tomato bread...calamari was wonderful with the taste of fire...full of flavor from the wonderful sauce...iberica came sliced into bite size pieces...juicy and seasoned perfectly...side of perfectly roasted shishito peppers included...the pasta with cheese was simply a fancy cheese pasta that just tasted perfect...can taste the quality of the cheese...washing it down with cava which is a sparkling spanish wine and cana which is beer was perfect...all for 61,50 euros total...fantastic meal and a great price... read more
amazing tapas, great spot. Super lively and busy, the front door lady is the best and organizes the chaos so well. There was about a 15 minute wait for 2 during prime dinner hours - not bad. But we settled for a standing table outside. Their house wine is so cheap and on everyone's table. For food, our favorites were the razor clams (so simple and delicious), the langoustines with caramelized onion (make sure to order pan con tomate to soak up all the sauce), the anchovy stuffed olives (serious punches of salt!), the white asparagus. The tortilla with chorizo was messy and delicious. The pasta was homey and comforting. The tomato salad was very refreshing at the end of the meal. The tuna with leeks was decent, as was the jamon iberico. read more
We tried to come here on a Monday night around 8-9pm. There was a line to get inside this place. If we wanted to stand and eat, than maybe we could have been inside with shorter waiting time. But figured to try first thing in the day when they open at 12pm. Came on 12/19/2023, got here around 11:59am. There was already a line but maybe 4 tables worth of people and this place could seat about 8-9 tables?? So we figured to get in line. They opened the shutter at 12pm and when they were ready to accept customers, it was 5 minutes past 12. Seated. We knew what we wanted so ordered three. Calamars Samfaina, Pluma Ibérica and Pa Amb Tomaquet. Calamars Samfaina was super soft and really delicious. Pluma Ibérica was amazing. Tender, well seasoned with salt and the peppers it came with went really well with fhe meaf. However, the bread was alright. They have fresh beer as in cerversa fresca de barril and we got one. Estrella. So refreshing and delicious!! EUR2.90 for a little less than a pint. Overall, recommend coming here right when they open. It's a small place and if people are waiting in line, probably not a good place to take your time to enjoy the food. Hence, maybe service was very fast? Not sure but they were nice. The server can speak English and lots of people were ordering in English. read more

This was my husband's favorite spot on our Spain trip. He loved the squid, and pork, which the guy behind the counter recommended, and the olive and anchovies. Personally, I'm not too adventurous when it comes to food, so there were other tapa places that I enjoyed more. But, if you're down to try some new dishes, this is a great spot. read more

The food was so tasty. I ordered the chorizo tortilla, it had eggs and potatoes and onions in it and the combination of flavors was so pleasant. I also ordered the olives, the green were my favorite, the dark ones were a bit more tart. I tried the sparkling wine and cava and both were light and delicious. I also tried the peppers that came with the beef and they were very tender and had good taste. My friend said the beef that came with it was very rare, so next time she would ask if they could cook it a bit more. We arrived shortly after 7 and had to wait in line about 30-40 min before we got a table. I would recommend arranging before 7pm to get in line that way you will be one of the first people to get a table. Definitely worth the wait! I wanted to order the garlic shrimp Too, but they were sold out for the evening and they didn't serve the potatoes on the day I went read more

There was a long line outside the restaurant and I was lucky that the hostess got me much earlier using the bar. Staffs were super friendly, customer were mostly locals and the food was delicious. The restaurant was quite packed but was nice with cozy atmosphere. I had a great time. read more
we arrived half an hour before opening to line up and got in with the first rush. the people around us in the queue were all super friendly. the squid and octopus were both quite good and textures were on point. pork was good if a little tougher than i would have liked. would definitely recommend giving this place a visit if you are willing to wait in line read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I went on my first night to this place per a friends recommendation and ended up coming back and bringing other friends. The food is very delicious and a wide variety of small plates to choose from. The house made Cava is amazing. The energy in the space is lively, comfortable, and incredibly friendly. We met the owner and he gave us fantastic recommendations (go for the pasta). He goes by Carlos/Big Boss/ Papa . . . Pending who you ask. If you are in Barcelona you must check this place out. read more

How could you go to Spain and not eat here! OMG WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. I've been in the service industry for 15+ years and never have I been in such an incredible experience of being served by a family of coworkers. From the laughs, the love, the best food, the best drinks (the homemade Cava) to all the wonderful people cheering you on to finish your meal!! Originally we were trying to get into El Tapeo right across, but the line was just as long as El Xampanyet. But El Xampanyet was moving quicker and you can see how great of a service they provide from the outside. So we waited about 20 mins until we got a spot inside. We opted for the bar and took the end bar table in the back which we didn't mind standing. The workers were quick and friendly. All of their suggestions were great. We ordered the Calamar amb Sanfaina (grilled squid), truita de patates i xorico (Spanish omelette with chorizo), Botifarra de Perol (Catalan sausage), Daus de filet de vedella (diced beef w/padron peppers) and had complimentary bread with tomatoes. ALL DISHES WERE DELICIOUS! Would definitely come back next time we visit. I wish I took more photos but we ate everything pretty quickly. read more

This Tapas bar was recommended by our experienced traveler friend and very highly rated. We took a taxi to arrive 30 minutes before the opening time (7pm), stood in line with easily 30+ people before us and soon just as many after. The door opened promptly at 7, we were the last to get seats and they were actually around a wine barrel by the entrance. Felt like eating and practicing Yoga at the same time. The place was high energy, high noise level and jam packed. Very friendly service staff, very efficient, super busy while very helpful. We ordered a bunch of tapas, drinks and tomato bread, didn't have to wait long for our food. Some of the dishes were absolutely delicious, some were not so good.... We loved the pork with grilled pepper (Pluma Iberica), Cod fish Omelet (Truita Bacalla) and the assorted olives. The sausage (Butifarra del Perol) was good with a different texture, the anchovies was very salty, although seemed popular but not for me. We were disappointed at the grilled shell on shrimps (Gamba Costa Planxa), we can't even peel it because the shrimp was so mushy; onion in the sauce was tasty and the best part of the dish. They didn't have any other shell fish that day. This was not quite a five star experience as we had hoped for but certainly an interesting experience. read more

Wow. Best tapas Ive had in Barcelona yet. Very crowded space so beware. There is standing room at the bar for walk ins and you can also wait for a table. We were a party of 6 and had to wait about 40 min to be seated around 7 pm for what its worth. Much quicker as a pair! Great spot for happy hour or with friends, lighting is very bright so not a great date spot. The Chorizo spanish omlette was to die for, as well as the whipped potato dish. Very affordable pricing and cool decoration. Staff was very friendly, spoke little English. read more
Came here for Tapas as this place was hyped up to me like Victor Wembanyama and it did not disappoint. I came right at opening, thinking it was a savvy vet move. It was not. Apparently the vet move is to get here at least 30 min before opening to get a table. The girl seating people was so talented, calming angry customers with a diffusing smile and doing her best to get everyone in that she could. She was lowkey like cool cute I was crushing a little bit ngl hehehe. Since I was only 1 person, I waited about 10 minutes and was given a standing spot at the bar. It was kind of cool, something so different than I'm used to but I embraced it and enjoyed it. I even met this cool couple at the bar, shoutout to Priyanka and Andrea. The Asian guy behind the bar was so engaging and friendly but was talking me into absolutely everything. Fairplay to him. I was initially just going to get a light meal, but ended up getting talked into the following: Prosciutto w/ bread, Octopus, Calamari, Catalan Sausage w/ beans, Beef Fillet w/Cadron peppers, a dessert, and 4 glasses of red wine. Everything was fantastic, but the beef fillet with peppers was the true standout. El Xampanyet is an absolute MUST when in Barcelona!! read more
El Xampanyet is amazing!!!! We went to Tapeo across the street first, before realizing this is the superior restaurant in all aspects. Iberian pork w/ Padron peppers: FAVORITE DISH! The pork is sizzling and mouthwatering, super super tender, and bursting with flavor. The peppers are an amazing complement, too. Get this. Get this. Tuna belly with marinated leeks: This one was good, but optional. I normally really like tuna belly in a sushi setting, but in this case you can't really tell it's from the belly. It's good, but not a must order. Grilled squid: This squid is freakin' delicious. It might be the best squid I've had in Barcelona. So flavorful and tender. Oh man. Champagne: Of course, this is their namesake. I'm no champagne expert, but it tasted really smooth and went down so easily. If you're ordering more than 2 cups per person, get a whole bottle. The line can get really long, so try to come during off-hours. read more
