Sylvia came to our apartment a few weeks ago to see the lay of the land. She recommended going by an hourly rate rather than a flat price, because the flat price could change depending on what's encountered. She also emphasized to label boxes well like: master bedroom, kitchen, etc. so we went with hourly rate $165 per hour for three movers. There was an up-charge of $75 because they were also moving a gun safe. They arrived at 8:45am and took a quick tour of our apartment. They explained how they go about it. The movers are Luis, Josue and Juan. What a team. Luis is the leader. Amazingly, they were done in 2.75 hours. This is the furniture for a two bedroom, two bath, den, kitchen, living room , dining area and the balcony we're talking about. Plus all the accompanying boxes for each area. We had boxed up everything we could and labeled as Sylvia had requested. And gave them clear paths as best we could to the major pieces. We had a lot of boxes! We wholeheartedly recommend this company for your moving needs.

I then was told I ONLY HAD 48 hours to make a claim. I was in disbelief this company policy. I never saw any documentation informing me about the time frame .I spent 30 yrs in the military so I know about movers and I am aware that there is always going to be maybe some scratches on your furniture when moving ,,,,,,,but this company completely damaged every single piece of furniture I have !!!! Scratches , pieces of wood just off my dining set and my entertainment center as well . My bedroom set has the scratches and wood chip of the knife the employee was using to take off the tape they put on it to cover the top . I was so upset I was crying in anger !!!!! I called the BBB and they have no knowledge of accreditation for this company . On the day of the move this company doesn't even have a truck , it is a U Haul truck they come in and load your household goods with barely any padding or cover . First, they are paid hourly and really know how to drag out the time. Slowly moving things and often texting on their phones. What should have very easily been a 2 hour move, was extended to 3 hours. Second, they agreed to remove junk and a couch. Although, "something came up" where their junk removal guy had to be somewhere else and, so they apparently no longer had the time or space to remove the couch they initially agreed to move. We were told they would stop by later to pick up the couch. Although they conveniently did not tell us that by coming back later we would be charged even more then quoted to pick up the couch. (A separate $99 minimum charge) Why are we being charged extra if it's the company's fault that the junk pickup had to be rescheduled? We made it clear, multiple times, what junk needed to be picked up. Lastly, they broke our furniture and TAPED IT back together, but failed to mention they broke it. Instead of telling us, they hid it in the back of the pile of things and face down where we would not be able to see it. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Lastly, you can expect surprise fees and charges once your move is completed. The estimate was completely inaccurate. Despite us being incredibly descriptive on what needed to be moved and junked, the total ended up being $200 more than what we were quoted and that's not even including the "$99 minimum" charge they added due to having to come back to get the couch. (Which we ultimately declined). Honestly, the service we received today was astonishing given all the "positive" reviews you'll find for this company and location. Take this review for what it's worth, but under no circumstances will I recommend College Hunks Hauling Junk & Moving. I'm attaching pictures of the T.V. stand they snapped- it can no longer support weight on top of the table. You can see the tape job they did and how it snapped. Additionally, I've added pictures of the moving blanket they forgot as they hastily left- so you can see that the tape used to tape the broken table is theirs.

We highly recommend HUNKS, especially Johnny and Keegan who moved our stuff. We will definitely call them again once our flooring is installed.
