We used Alot for Less Movers on our last move two years ago. They were extremely affordable and efficient. We needed to move again this summer. I got a few quotes from other companies just out of curiosity- Wow! One company quoted us starting at $800 for our 3 BR home, another quoted $450, but Alot for Less quoted us $250 for two hrs & two men. When my husband mentioned that we had used them before, he knocked it down even further to $185! The men were running a bit behind once they got to our house. Apparently, the customers before us were hoarders and they had to spend most of the afternoon there. However, when they arrived at our house, they were still fast, professional and happy. They cracked jokes with me and with each other while they worked- no bad attitudes at all! They were extremely happy to help accommodate my requests and heavy, oddly-shaped furniture. They had a third man helping them that day, so we were able to benefit from the extra hands. The three men that helped were Darren, George and Kyree. They should get a raise! They all went above and beyond. When I asked for them to stay an extra hour (only $85!), they were happy to do so. I have referred Alot for Less to three of my friends in the last two years, and I will continue doing so. They are so affordable, but you are not sacrificing quality either. Hopefully we won't have to move again soon, but when we do, they will be the movers we call. read more

Movers stole 3 maybe 4 boxes. I have filed a police report. I am missing tools, jewelry, kitchen items & shoes. David informed me that Texas Law does not require him to have insurance. I am sick about this as other than the jewelry they basically took stuff that is of little use to them but irreplaceable to me. Do not use this company. read more

Spoke with David and agreed on July 1st, 2016 for time between 12:30 and 13:30. Movers did not arrive til a few minutes after 16:00 and did not finish the move til almost 20:00. The three young men treated me courteously but not so my boxes and other items. I remember cringing when I saw boxes flung a top each other thinking "hope nothing in there was broken". I am not in the best of health so I am just getting to opening a few of my boxes now and what a heart rendering site. Bowls, plates, etc crushed/pulverized...WTH!!! I also found a crack in the TV stand door. My lounge chair frame is broken and now unusable. The knob to my dryer is missing and that puzzles me because you would have to pull hard to have that knob come off. I tried calling David a couple of times but all I got was a message that the mail box was full. As I continue to go through and exam my other items, who knows what other sad surprises await. I contracted with this company for my move based on the Yelp reviews, and I am so glad I did! Three strong, professional, and personable young men showed up in an old truck (but it worked!). They are paid hourly, but man they are fast! I have heavy furniture that they had no trouble bringing downstairs. They plastic wrapped the dressers to protect the drawers, and used many blankets between pieces. Loaded quickly, unloaded even faster. I had no damage to my furniture or either house. No games, no extra charges to unload. Just honest working men working hard. I will definitely contract with them for any move needs in the future, and will absolutely recommend them to my friends and family. Fair job. I am back at my house today moving everything out of daughter's closet as well as some items leftover from their 6 hour job last night. And this is why I had requested a pre-assessment the day before so they can plan the my move accordingly with a bigger truck. One UHAUL 10 ft truck rental costing me $160 for 3 hours + 3 moves with my SUV, thus killing my Saturday afternoon = one irritated customer! Super friendly, professional and fast :) It was freezing, windy and not only was I moving from an upstairs apartment but I was also moving TO an upstairs apartment. I seriously figured it would take around 3 and a half hours at least to move all my stuff. Well guess what? It was all done in just 2 hrs!!!!!! I was happily surprised to say the least. Called David up to schedule an appointment for movers. He did take some time to get back to me, but he did contact me as promised. He will always return your call, even if he has to do it at 9pm. I appreciate that kind of dedication. The movers showed up (Jose and Andrew, brothers!), were very polite and professional. Very quickly loaded my stuff up from my third story apartment and got me moved in to my new place on the fifth floor in two hours 15 minutes. I, too, TOTALLY recommend these guys. I moved to San Antonio last fall using movers from the city I was leaving to an apartment that, nine months later, I had to leave quickly because it was making me sick. I asked around and someone suggested I check on Yelp. I did and read about David's company. When I called, I got a voice mail recording at first but David returned my call so quickly I hadn't even finished leaving the message! He was very accommodating to meet my need to move and managed to squeeze mine onto an already busy moving day for his guys on a Saturday. It was scheduled for 4pm but they were running late due to a heavy rain that morning. However, they kept in constant phone communication with me so I never lost faith that they were not coming! They arrived at 6:30pm and started unloading my apartment. I was their fourth move of the day, and I was on the third floor, but you would have never known this was their fourth move of the day! Eric and [I'm sorry can't recall his name :-( ] attacked the move with energy more appropriate for the first move of the day. Very polite young men and very careful with my belongings. It was clear it was going to be late finishing up so they did not hesitate to call upon another crew finishing up for the day to come help unload. They finished unloading at my new place in the wee hours of Sunday morning!! Not one complaint did I hear from any of these hard-working guys. They just did their job with a smile on their faces, abeit a weary one at times! Not that I could blame them. I was exhausted and they were doing much better than I was and they had been moving people all day long! I cannot say enough about how great these guys were or how careful they were with my belongings. Not having moved with any movers in San Antonio before I was worried I would choose unwisely. Not so. I was scheduled today at 11:00. It's almost 4:00 and I have yet to hear from them. I've also been calling the office and do not receive an answer. I'm in the process of trying to find last minute movers to get me out on a weekend. This is what you get when you call a month in advance. Alotforless=a lot of waiting around. (Update) I can understand being late due to rain. What I don't understand is the lack of communication. Not only did I waste more than half of my day waiting when I could have been unpacking. But I had to pay for 4 hours instead of 2, maybe 3. It was a one bedroom apartment and my stuff was literally packed and waiting in a storage unit. Instead the guys were either on their phone or snacking. Not to mention stopping on the way to get said snacks. It's like they were literally dragging their feet to make this move as long as possible. It's never in my life taken so long to move! In fact, a previous company that I used would move me in an hour and a half! I think the service was unacceptable. I think it's inconsiderate to not notify people when you will be late. No one likes moving, but as I've learned in the past, hiring movers is the best gift you can give yourself. I decided to hire movers to move us from our second story apartment to a house we just purchased. When we moved into that apartment, I almost killed my significant other (moving does that to a person), so I wanted to forgo all that this time around. I have used A Lot for Less Movers on several occasions in the past and never any issues. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about my most recent experience. I have been trying to reach them all week to set up a move. Have left emails and voice mails with no response. Yesterday I finally reached David. He explained he was in the field and I asked that I call back and leave a brief voice mail and he would return my call by the end of that day. No return call. So I called him back today and again, he said he was in the field but promised to call back by the end of the day. Needless to say, I did not receive a call back. I can only assume that either business is so good he can afford to turn down jobs or just doesnt care. Now its after 5pm on a Friday and I have to start over and try to find a mover for next week. Let me make this simple. The price could not be beat. Extremely fast and caring movers. Plus the 3 guys they sent were very nice, professional, caring, and just darn good at their job. They moved a 2nd floor 2 bdr apt 25 miles away to another 2 bdr 2nd floor apt, in about 2 1/2 hours. And that includes the drive and the delays because of traffic accidents. Be careful with these guys, have a set of backup movers. They cancelled on us the day OF the move. Gave us an ETA between 11am and noon. I get that sometimes these type of things take longer and they are late. It happens. Waited and waited and they finally told us at 3pm that they didn't have anyone to send out. I used this company a couple of years ago to move my daughter into her apartment and they did a great job. Called them again to load her furniture and boxes into a Uhaul, for her move to Dallas last month. The guys were very nice, however, they did just an ok job. I rented 36 blankets to wrap the furniture in and they used it for packing material. Didn't wrap one item. Her white kitchen furniture was all scratched up and things banged into each other the entire trip home. I was very disappointed in the job they did this time. The movers who I used to unload the truck in Plano were the best I've ever used and was sorry they weren't available to load the truck in SA. Be sure to talk to Dave about what you want in advance, obviously, they can't figure out on their own what the pads are for. read more

David gave us a very reasonable estimate for moving. Then when he decided to tack on a $80 fee for gas, we questioned why this wasn't in the original estimate. Then he became extremely rude and talked to us like we were children. There are plenty of moving companies in town - maybe David doesn't realize this but we would pay more money for a professional attitude. I hired A Lot For Less on September 7th and can say I'm fairly disappointed with the movers and the move. First of all, the movers were over half an hour late. I'm not sure why they set a time when they don't appear to abide by the schedule. Second, many things were destroyed in the move. Not only that, but the movers didn't seem to care at all that it happened! For instance, one of my bookshelves came in missing two shelves and had chunks of wood missing all over the face of it. When I pointed it out to the man moving it into my new home he just said, "It wasn't me!", left the bookshelf and kept working. Other things damaged in the move include: a floor lamp, an expensive glass water dispenser that I saw the man drop and break, but he just put it back in the box and said, "the lid fell off," and kept walking. Also, the damaged the door into my house in multiple places and as I mentioned before, the book shelf was damaged and is missing shelves. Not only is that one damaged, it comes as one of a pair of matching bookshelves and since that one is damaged I now have to replace both of them so I have a matching set. (I can no longer get a single replacement as they don't make them anymore).Finally, they ruined the front of both of my brand new washer and dryer!! There are scratches and scrapes all over them! This never should have happened if they would have covered them before they moved them like they were supposed to. However, they never covered ANYTHING until it got into the truck. So getting things there it was a free for all and things were scratched and broken so easily. Further, for some odd reason this turned into a 9 hour move on a 3 bedroom house where we'd already taken 1/2 of the boxes over to the new house ourselves. But the kicker is they charged us for every single minute of those 9 hours and didn't deduct anything for breaks! We fed them lunch and dinner. Although one guy worked as he ate dinner, the others didn't and they all took a break when they ate lunch. One of the guys, after eating his lunch, told us burgers made him sick so he spent over half an hour in the bathroom (why did he eat something that he knew would make him sick? Who knows). Also, during one drive over to the new house we arrived 30 minutes before the truck did - meaning they had to have made a stop and taken a break along the way. Again, we were charged for this break. All in all they probably took an hour and 15 minutes of break which totals about $115 at their rate and we were charged for that. They also left the move with our garage door opener and our outdoor umbrella and we had to call twice to get these things returned. I tried calling the owner multiple times to talk over these things with him. He did call me back once and left a message, but never tried to call again. I guess he wasn't too concerned with what happened. Also, BEWARE - we aren't the only people to have problems with this company! When we hired them there were three bad reviews here on Yelp, but somehow the owner must have gotten them removed. So this 5 out of 5 rating is BS and you should be aware that not everyone had good experiences with this company! I'll post pictures of all the damages soon. read more

Moving can be very scary; you worry about getting ripped off, belongings getting broken, or just dealing with unprofessional movers. On all of these three important qualities, Alot for Less, surpassed our expectations. I'll elaborate on all three. As far as cost, I called 2 other well reviewed moving companies but their prices could not compare. What I liked about Alot for Less is that one they charge you when the drivers arrive not when they leave their shop, two only a $25 fuel fee and three the cost per hour was amazing. No hidden fees, no nickle & dime for tape, stairs, ect just a simple hourly bill. The handling of our belongings was also superb, I liked that they didn't tape every piece up, leaving us with loads of tape to peel off nor did they damage anything. The most impressive to me was the work ethic. As soon as they arrived, they were working. The men worked quick, put alot of back into it & were very professional in speech & manner to our family. I really feel like I got Alot for Less. Great service at a price that couldn't be matched by anyone I called. So why would you want to pay more if your getting the red carpet treatment for less?! I waited until we had unpacked the last box from our move to write this review because I wanted to be certain of the facts before I wrote anything. First, the movers were excellent. They showed up on time, they were polite, they were hard workers. They worked so hard and efficient that my wife and her sister treated them to lunch. Everything went smooth during the move. My Autistic son went through the boxes to find his PS4 game system...he failed to find it, but I told him to be patient since we had many boxes to sort through. A week later it became apparent that the PS4 had gotten "lost" during the move. I called the owner to ask if his crew had seen it. He said he would ask them and he would get back to me ( I never heard back ). He told me if it didn't show up to go ahead and file a police report. We still have a storage unit to clear out. One of the workers offered to do it all for a 100.00 dollar flat fee plus truck rental, but I think we will do it ourselves next weekend. My wife found it odd that a worker would offer to do a side job off the company clock. This is in no way an indictment of the company as a whole, but all it takes is one crooked worker to ruin it for the rest. With the salary they earned for the 12 hours they worked, plus the money saved on having to buy lunch...throw in the 100 dollar tip each worker (4 workers) received, they could have saved up enough to buy a PS4 for themselves read more

I've moved five times in six years....this was the most efficient and professional moving company I've used. They were a couple hours late but their hard work more than made up for it. No extra charges like these other thieves that are out there. We paid exactly what we expected. This is the only company I will use again and recommend to everyone I know. The owner, David, returned my call within an hour. Even though we were calling with only a day notice, David worked hard to squeeze us into the schedule. He wasn't able to get anyone there on Friday, but he remained in contact the entire day and promised we would have help on Saturday. We were scheduled for 3pm saturday, but the movers called by 10am saying they were free. They came over and moved all of our heavy furniture (including a piano) quickly and carefully. Took 2 days of moving to get the items from our house to our new home. I reached out to Alot for Less a month in advance to do a local move of large, heavy and cumbersome items in San Antonio. I spoke with David the owner. He was cordial, offered a quote for a three man crew and also applied a 10% discount for being a yelper. Their rates were competitive to other moving companies I contacted. The discount sealed the deal! I reached out to David the day before to confirm, time was verified. The morning of the move I was contacted by Mac, whom I believe was the foreman. The crew (Mac, Erik and Kaleb) arrived within the time previously arranged. The crew introduced themselves and Mac explained the process and my rights as a customer. We did a brief walk through and they got to work. The crew worked diligently and efficiently. Erik and Kaleb did the majority of the lifting while Mac wrapped and and padded the truck. They finished loading in two hours. Remember, it was only large items no boxes. The crew arrived at the new house shortly after I did. They definitely did not stop for lunch or at the local pub! Upon arrival at the new house, they sprung into action right away. They were able to unload and place all the items close to where I wanted. I wasn't picky because I was gonna have to move some things around anyway. The crew unloaded without incident in one hour. All items appear to be in good condition and free of damage. The entire move including travel took three hours. I gave the crew a $100.00 tip to be split among them. Well deserved and earned! I received a follow up phone call two days later to inquire about my experience. I apologize I can't remember the name of the lady who called. She was very nice and welcomed any feedback, positive or negative. If/when we move again we will definitely consider Alot for Less! read more

Hired these guys to move our 2 bedroom apartment + a full size garage. The 3 man crew showed up on time and with great attitudes. Pleasant and incredibly efficient, they got us moved without damaging a single piece of furniture. Seriously, this is the first crew we have hired that DID NOT break something. The rates were very reasonable. There might be cheaper movers out there but remember, you get what you pay for. I put their magnet up at my work so people can see their name and number. A lot more for less moved me August of 2016. The moving truck was not large enough for the size of my home, even after having discussed all the items I had . Items were left behind, and no attempt was made on their part to pick it up later. Several pieces of my furniture were damaged. I attempted to call the owner three times in regards to this and no return call back. I text messaged the owner photos of the damages and No offer was made to fix my furniture or to discounted in anyway. I was pleased with how they confirmed the day before, how the handled my things, and how quickly they completed everything. The crew were two very hard workers who were also very pleasant. The only reason I can't give them 5-stars is that they were over an hour late. They tried calling before they came but called the wrong number so they couldn't reach me. Totally recommend these guys. My parents moved from AZ to SAT and I called a number of places and liked David's attitude over the phone the best. First round, the boys were great....3 PODS later, the guys always showed up on time or early!! There were lots of "Yes Ma'me", "Thank you", just all around good southern manners. What a let down. I went with these guys because of the reviews here on Yelp. They told me they would show up on Friday morning between 8:30-9:30. I received a call around 10 from one of the movers saying that they would show up in about an hour. They finally showed up around 10:30. When they arrived they got there in a truck different from what was promised to me. The truck they arrived in was smaller, which resulted in not being able to move all my belongings in that one trip. The guys that moved our stuff got right to work when they arrived, which I was pleased with. They were down to business and very courteous. They made sure to take care of and handle all of our stuff carefully. I had no real issues with the movers themselves at all. They were done after about several hours including the trip, but I was upset because the 1-2 hours they were late it delayed our move. They told me they could go back for a second trip to pick up the remaining things we left behind because of the truck size, but of course that means I would have to pay $95 for each hour of work. I maybe would've said yes, but because of the time they showed up the traffic would have slowed them down tremndously meaning more money out of my pocket. I declined and had to rent a 16ft truck from Budget and move the remaining things on my own the next day. I didn't plan on having to rent a moving truck and having to move large items like I did on my own. Due to the movers arriving very late and getting a different truck than what I was promised I had no other choice. To top off this bad experience their truck, which I was told by the movers, "was their first time using it and not their usual truck" left a huge oil stain on the driveway on the house I moved out of and a huge oil stain on the driveway on the house I moved into. A lady from the company called me like a week or so afterwards asking me how was my experience with them. I started to tell her and she kind of cut me off and didn't even apologize or offer any kind of help to remove this oil stains or any kind of way to make up for their bad service.
