Nice place for a fajita!
Todd L.

Well I failed you all, got hungry and dived right in without a picture! Not to worry though, El Toro is pretty standard Mexican fare. Let's hit the basics, service - very good over all. Responsive, checked in regularly but not to much. Everyone was polite and very fast service. Ambiance is what I would call typical, restaurant bar type atmosphere with Mexican music in the background. No issues but don't expect a lot in that respect. Now the food, also right on par, good food, I had the trio fajitas which were very good but again typical for this style restaurant. Salsa was a little sub par but also not bad. All in all this is a solid choice for lunch or dinner, I don't think you can go wrong! Not sure why the star rating is so low, my experience was very positive.

Water finally drying after a 1 hour lunch. Shame on El Toro for the way they 'cleaned' this bathroom
Wanda R.

The Mexican food quality and taste is just OK. The pricing is a bit high for such mediocre food, but is probably because the portions are generous. The atmosphere was nice. The bathrooms were a safety hazard and gross! They literally threw a bucket of water with cleaning solution onto the bathroom and declared it as 'clean.' It was hazardous for everyone who walked in there. Honestly I am so pissed about it as my 85 year old mother almost fell!

Baja Fish Tacos

I'll start by saying that the salsa was great! The chips were not bad, not the best I've ever had, but again...not bad. Prices are a bit high, but that may be the proximity to all of the hotels along this road. I ordered the Baja fish tacos. They were tasty, but there wasn't much fish at all. The rice was very good. I didn't much care for the mixed vegetables. Service, while pleasant and friendly, was lacking. I was finished my meal before the server came to check on us and my drink had long since run out due my love of the spicy salsa. It took a while for the server to bring our check and he dashed off so quickly that we didn't get the chance to tell him that we needed separate checks. Again, we had to wait an extended time for him to come back as it appeared his attention was on the party of 15 seated next to us. Overall, the food was good. Service...not so good.

Took my family here for a dinner on a Friday night. First thing you notice when you come in is how run down the inside looks. Once we got a table which wasn't any wait but had to ask for a regular table. Our server did pretty much the minimum a waiter could do. The one saving grace for this review was the food. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. I had the Barria Tacos were phenomenal! The sauce was excellent and the presentation was good. If it wasn't for the food, I would pass but those Barria Tacos were just so good!

Grilled Steak Quesa-Dilla

I love to travel and I travel for work, but that doesn't mean I love to work! I do, however, enjoy the places I get paid to visit. This past few weeks found me in Vandalia OH and I discovered El Toro. Yes, it's a 'chain' but the food is as good as any independent eatery...so good, I visited twice. First visit I had the grilled chicken Quesa-Dilla (as I call it) with a house margarita (on the rocks, no salt). The chicken was full of flavor, the tortilla was lightly grilled and the plate was On Fire, it was so hot! No, I didn't touch it. Visit Dos was for the grilled steak Quesa-Dilla and it was even better than the chicken (as a Chickaholic, that's a real admission to make). Again, everything was served hot and quickly and the margarita was on point. The place is clean, the staff are friendly and authentic and all but the busboys speak decent English. What's not to like? Find an El.. Toro near you and see how much you enjoy it!

Waayy better than I expected, I ordered the Monster Burrito ! A little spicy but not too much . We also got some chips and salsa to my table salsa was chunky and chips crispy ! I will come back to try their other foods

We stopped here on our first night in the area and had a good experience. The place was busy but we were seated quickly . I got a large margarita ( so good! ) and we ordered several different items off the menu. Tacos , enchiladas, quesadillas and steak... everything was great. We finished with a fried ice cream dessert ( very enjoyable ) and our waitress was very attentive the whole time. The prices are also very affordable so overall good place to visit!

Street Tacos Carnitas

Huge serving of delicious street tacos. Service and food were top notch. Had to get a to-go box!

Very bad customer service! I think they need to hire more servers. Have specific servers at the bar area and certain sections.

Service was terrible, food was mediocre, cleanliness was an after thought. Staff was at the bar drinking. Will never be back.

Vallarta Mexican Seafood…read more All the vibes of a Mexican Pacific Coast restaurant. Finally persuaded my 100% Italian wife to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood, and she loves this place. Caveat: Vallarta Mexican Seafood is several rungs above the average Tex-Mex joint in the Greater Dayton Metropolitan Area. We really enjoy Sonora Grill Seafood Steak Bar & Grill, and Vallarta Mexican Seafood merits special attention as well. On our radar: La Poblanita Mexican Market and restaurant. A note on stars; Sonora Grille is on Burkhardt, and in a small strip mall; I am not inclined to award a strip mall restaurant 5 stars; however.... Vallarta Mexican Seafoodis also in a small strip mall with plenty of free parking. Folks inclined to visit and dine at The Greene might go west to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood. Travel Tip: do check menu Spanish definitions to avoid order errors. We can depend upon Yelp whilst researching: Here are 5 Star Reviews for Vallarta Mexican Seafood. Several of these reviews encouraged us to visit Vallarta Mexican Seafood: ...but their food is SO GOOD!! Fresh, flavorful, not your typical Mexican restaurant. Visiting from Seattle and was looking for some good authentic Mexican cuisine. Found it here! Vallarta Mexican & Seafood... a MUST try for super fresh, delicious, LARGE portion seafood! Amazing service, fantastic portion sizes, and the food was awesome! will definitely be back! Throughout our 60 year relationship, my wife enjoys dessert as an appetizer, and today is no exception. The Churro's are delivered in a flash; we discovered this special treat nearly 50 years ago during an expedition to Spain and Portugal. The very best Churro's were prepared by roadside vendors, and our friends, Bill and Ellen Rose agreed. Neat ambience, and delightful service. Music is Boomer Music.... My wife insisted on MAR Y TIERRA - Mexican Surf and Turf. Grilled chicken, steak and shrimp served with rice, charro beans, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes - expect a togo box. My son elected QUESADILLA DE ASADA A flour tortilla filled with your choice of grilled meat, stuffed with cheese, grilled bell peppers, onions and tomatoes. Served with rice. And I selected Steak PARRILADAsteak cooked with bell peppers, tomatoes and onions. Served with rice, charro beans, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and flour tortillas - expect a togo box. Way too much Tilapia on the menu - we recommend to lose this fish and replace with REAL fish. My wife is Very Pleased, and she advises that we shall return

My parents come here often and I tried it for the first time tonight. Major issues. I asked if the soft serve margarita had dairy (I'm vegan) and if the beans had lard. The waitress didn't seem to understand what I asked, so she brought over another waitress. The other waitress simply said "I don't think so", I need a definite yes or no. She would not even go check or ask. I ordered the veggie fajitas. NO sour cream and NO cheese. It came with both. When I asked them to correct it, they brought out a different kind of beans containing meat (which was mixed into everything) and the fajitas even had a piece of chicken (which I can usually ignore but it genuinely felt personal). I'm not usually someone to complain. If you look at my other reviews, they are fairly positive. However this pissed me off. I would be fine if it was just a translation issue, I understand. However the number of things that occurred was unacceptable. And "I don't know" is not acceptable to someone with an actual allergy. That being said. I really did like the overall vibe in here and the robot came out and danced which was fun. But all of that did not make up for what occurred. I wish that it had been better.

It's a Latin-fusion tapas restaurant and they have happy hour every day from 4pm-6pm! Our waitress, Alexa, was busy but was friendly and helpful. We also had lots of great servers in and out bringing food. The food was delicious. I always get the Arroz Ya ya, which is a yummy rice dish. Loved the signature cocktail, the Bad Bunny. So good! There's a lot to choose from on their menu. Definitely a place to visit if you're in the area.
