This is my second visit here after moving into the region. I normally look for a local hole in the wall Mexican restaurant where I'm the only Gringo. This is not that place. The only Hispanics here, are the workers. The area a more upscale than I typically see in my line of work. I had the Mexican style burrito with steak. I saw several fajitas plates on others tables. Their salsa is a puree but has good flavor and little heat. My Mexican style burrito was a decent size and presented nicely with a salad. The steak inside the burrito was tender and nice size pieces. Ordered DoorDash and tried the torta carnita and the parrillada. The sandwich was HUGE, loaded with shredded pork, avocado and veggies. It was so good, served with a side of fries. The fajitas were tasty, maybe could use a bit of seasoning and the meat should've been cut up. It was served in whole pieces, come on I'm so lazy I ordered delivery why would I wanna cut up my own meat? Lol love this place they still rock. read more

We stopped here for dinner on our way to Dayton. We love Mexican and eat it regularly. THIS PLACE is one of the best! The soft tacos, especially the Pastor, are incredibly flavorful. Tender pork with chunks of pineapple - wow! My son is a seafood lover, so he had a huge seafood dish with tortillas... He ate it all! I personally rate every Mexican restaurant first based on the salsa. THIS salsa meets the standard, very good. Can't go without good chips 'n salsa. Excellent service. I'm not gonna lie, I am writing this review after going to Chiapas more than 3 times. This place has yet to disappoint me. Every time I go, the staff is super nice, place is clean, the vibes are up, and i get my food quick. I think the chips and salsa set the tone fr. Chips have always been hot and freshly salted for me. Salsa is flavorful and a great consistency. I see in some of the reviews the people are not hyping up the food, but c'mon. Venture outside of the Taco Salad. I will say I usually go with Burritos, but I've been exploring the menu here. Last time I came I got the Chilaquiles. And I must say NOOO MAMES. I haven't been able to operate the same since. It had everything I could have possibly wanted, and I get it, it's $17, but I will say it was plenty of food and so delicious. This place is lowkey a sleeper. A Mario Chalmers if you will. Kinda out of nowhere, you see this place putting up good numbers and it's like, let me experience what they got goin on. Bucket getter, and it's going to do it's thing every night I go with it. Chips and salsa outstanding. Guac so well made. Enchiladas with red and green sauce delicious. Rice that came on the plate was a bit bland. Best dish was the tamales with mole sauce. Wow! Went to tour Normandy Church/Grant Mansion with the kiddos. Decided to stop here for dinner on the way home. It's a nice corner spot, large restaurant, really well lit and great space. The inside had a lot of colors and decorations to look at and conversation starters with the kids. The service was quick and friendly. She brought us our drinks promptly and took our orders. I didn't feel like it took too long to get the food out to us. My husband and I got a mixture of street tacos. Least favorite was chicken (because it was "dry") our most favorite would be cow tongue/chorizo big daughter got the Camarones A La Diabla; she loved it and even had leftovers to take home. Middle daughter got the Enchiladas Mexicanas, she was really pleased with it! Overall, we would definitely return if we are in the area again! Chiapas first became known to me as a restaurant which came into Centerville after our former favorite restaurant failed there. Yes, it is even located in the same little building. I can't say enough good things about Chiapas. They fix your food how you want it, and that is very different from most Mexican restaurants. I have an aversion to onions, and Chiapas does their best to remove all onion and other things I'm not too keen on, such as pico de gallo. I go to the Moraine location, which is closer to home. They have the friendliest people there. They always greeting me with a smile and a hearty "Qué tal, amigo?" read more

I still miss the good OLD days when Taco Bell had tostadas. This is one of the only Mexican restaurants I know of that have them and I'm a fan. Have eaten here about a dozen times and like most of these family owned Mexican type places the food and service are good and the ambiance here is better than most. Location is good and parking isn't a problem being in a corner lot. read more

The food is consistently on par. Well executed, flavorful, great portion sizes (even for lunch) and very affordable. Make sure you get the green and red sauces to add to your salsa and/or dish! If you want good, authentic Mexican food, this is the place. Their food is fabulous and they're margaritas are amazing, whether you like frozen or on the rocks. The service is great as well, we've been going to both locations and the same staff always seem to be there. Food is cooked quickly and brought out hot. Have frequented this restaurant for many years and, until lately, have always been pleased with both service and food. That said, in the last six months, both my spouse and myself have found foreign objects in our food. My spouse found half a clothespin, yes, half a clothespin a few months ago. Of course our meal was comped and many apologies. Because we'd been eating there for a long time, we stayed away for a bit and then started going back. Then, just recently, I found a piece of plastic packaging in my food; large enough that I spit it out and notified server. Yes, meal comped and explained as cheese packaging. Beware. I think there's some issues in the kitchen. It's sad because we really loved this place. This has only happened at the Alex-Bell location. read more

Everything we ordered was delicious. The pazole soup was my favorite though. They gave us chips and salsa just like if we dined in. Serving sizes were totally appropriate and I appreciated the way everything was packaged. This is my favorite Mexican take-out. But I plan to visit the patio this summer. Be careful which location you order from online though. When I submitted my order I got a screen that said my order had been accepted but I didn't get a confirmation text or email. So I waited 20 minutes and then called the location I thought I ordered from. Turned out it was in Centerville not West Carrollton and it was already ready. They are the same distance from me so it wasn't a big deal to pick it up there. I have a feeling they would have made it for me in West Carrollton though if I had insisted. I was looking forward to trying this new place in Moraine so I stopped in for lunch after a haircut. Being lunch on a Thursday, there were only a couple tables full. The chips and salsa served at seating were pretty typical and though the salsa was very fresh tasting, there wasn't much flavor and absolutely no heat. Luis was very attentive and the Texas Fajitas came very quickly. The chicken and shrimp was tender and very tasty but the steak bits were almost inedibly tough. I'll probably give it another try, especially when they finally get their liquor license. But not super impressed. read more

Our first experience at Chiapas was fantastic. We were seated outside with no wait on a Saturday night - score! We went there to see one of our favorite servers from Lapinata who is now the manager at Chiapas (Hi Dey). They have the BEST guacamole I've ever had with just the right amount of spice and it was a generous sized portion too! I had the Chile Relleno Chiapanecos. I wish I had taken a picture of them. They were huge and delicious peppers stuffed with cheese and beef. My husband enjoyed the chimichangas (he can't remember if he had chicken or beef LOL). Their frozen margaritas are the BOMB! The price for both dinners and four margaritas was surprisingly cheap at just under $60. We'll be back! read more
