No frills, but delicious! The portions are huge and it was inexpensive. It is a small place and looks like it was an old burger joint. I had the vegetarian huarache. I had never had one before and I loved it. The corn tortilla is extra thick and it was stacked with ingredients. My friend got a regular size burrito and it was the size of a Qdoba burrito, if you have seen one. There is a jumbo option and I am guessing most people can't finish it. FOOD POISONED!! Just woke up from a nap threw up taste of the enchiladas still in my mouth taste like old horse meat disgusting! I feel like I'm digesting a rotting goat. I woke up sick and could only puke up a little bit of it most of it made it into my intestines and now I'm enduring the path. I do not know what kind of meat they had in their enchilada but it was rancid. Now the next morning diarrhea and I'm still throwing up if I don't feel better in a day I got to go to the hospital. The food here was really good. Unassuming spot close to downtown. The bathrooms are located outside, and you need to ask for a key from the front desk to use. We ordered the cheese dip with the chips, tacos, and tres leche cake for dessert. Definitely a hard pass. Just don't do it. The inside is small, parking is a decent size, drive thru window, and quick service. We sat down by the booth near the door which was the only seat available. The booth behind me was just terrible the kids were awful and even got nasty stuff from there fingers in my hair. The inside has approximately 10 tables and the booths are on the smaller side (if you are bigger you will have issue sitting in the booths). With this being said and it was packed 1 guy waiting for take out decided to take a 4 person table to wait on his to go order and the employees didn't ask him to move where people who was dining in could sit. The food was blah, we got taqitos (6) and they were definitely overcooked. The lengua tacos where ok not much flavor and no texture like other restaurants that throws the meat on the grill to crisp it up some. Then I did a check in when we walked in and the owner said they don't except coupons when a 10% off popped up once checked in. The best thing I can say about this place is its cheap but then again you get what you pay for. Used to be the best place in Dayton, but they're cutting too many costs. Recently changed the menu, upped the prices without telling customers and made the food cheaper (I.e. they started cutting avocado out of their platters even though that used to be included). They even overbilled me on an item, I took it tip to the register and they said they'd fix it. I paid without inspecting the bill too closely... they had taken off a portion of the overfilling, but not the whole amount. Used to go maybe every other week, now it may be more like every few months. read more

This actually is The Best Mexican Restaurant in Dayton! While we have tried many establishments around the area, this place knows what they are doing in the kitchen. This is probably the only restaurant where the chimichanga I order actually came out crispie and very tasty. Their refried beans are hand made and so so good. While my wife was devouring her fajitas and a Diet Coke, I got my favorite Jarritos Mandarin to drink with my meal. We are very much looking forward to our next meal here! read more

The carne verde, shrimp Diablo, and tripas enchiladas are among my favorites. Wow. I'm always on the lookout searching for some authentic and delicious Mexican food. Most places fall short.. not this place! The chips and salsa are the beginning of a good experience and TM brings out fresh warm chips and great salsa. I tried the menudo and pozole and it has to be some of the best I've tried anywhere.. including Mexico.. I'd say it reminds me of my mom's cooking. We've liked this place for a while but I waited to do a review to see if it was consistent enough. They do not disappoint. As a last note, the staff is very nice and helpful. I'd rather eat here than many of the more fancy places. Food is better, prices are better, and it's overall a down to earth place that'll leave you wanting to come back like it does for us. Pretty good an inexpensive place for mexican food. They sell mexican style tacos here. Its a very small restaurant in East dayton with a very low key vibe. I got takeout and ordered 3 tacos as well as the ceviche tostada. The tacos were all pretty good. There were two chicken tacos and one chorizo taco. Tacos are wrapped in two corn tortillas. You get the typical cilantro and onions with these tacos, a lime, and some spicy salsa. It's a great price at about $2.5 each. The only improvement would probably to have more sauce for the meats as they seemed slightly dry. The ceviche tostada was OK. The portions were good but the fish was a little bit muddy tasting. that is probably not their specialty, so it was not as good as the tacos. I am pretty disappointed in the last two visits at this restaurant. Prior to these past two visits this was our go to place for Mexican food however I don't think we will go back. The food quality is not what it used to be. The birria meat in my two crispy tortilla tacos was cold and dry. The taco shells appear to be cooked well in advance of my order. The shells were overcooked, dry, hard and cold. The taquitos were overcooked but they were hot but tasted burnt. Side of guacamole was not as good as they used to serve it. I don't know if they under new management or cooking staff but the meals are not hot yet very dark fried so I assume refried before served if that. Internal beef in tacos and chinicganga was cold. The food came out way too quick after we placed our order and was cold. This is a red flag. Service was good. I think you need to revisit the way you used to prepare your meals. Cooked to order. Sad to say but now I need to find another place for authentic Mexican food that is prepared when hot and fresh when ordered. read more

When it comes to authentic Mexican food, Mixteca is tops. My wife and I go there about 2/3 times a month. In particular, my wife loves the chicken dishes. At most Mex places the chicken is cubed not seasoned and dry. At Mixteca, the chicken is shredded, seasoned nicely and moist. I love the shrimp items. The building is an old gas station, and would qualify as a "hole in the wall" if it were not for the friendly staff and amazing Mexican food. This is not Mexican food you get at all the chain restaurants. This is Mexican food that you would get if you were invited to someone's home in Mexico (as I am told by a friend that should know). I always start with the mini beef tacos, which consist of finely ground seasoned beef, cilantro, two corn tortillas, and a lime wedge. They never make it home as I consume them as I dangerously drive with my knee on the steering wheel. You'll love the food and the people. My son and I had a fantastic lunch here. This isn't a very big or fancy place, but we had great service and the food was amazing. We both devoured the basket of warm chips with fresh delicious salsa. My pollo campechano came out sizzling on a skillet with 4 warm, soft tortillas. This dish was a wonderful combination of chicken, perfectly cooked vegetables, chorizo, and cheese. I'm happy to report it's still stellar. No matter what I get here I always get the verde or green sauce. It makes my mouth so happy. Aficionados will appreciate the menudo, tripe, and tongue. I'm nuts about the chorizo. If you care about decor or ambiance you'll never bring yourself to park in this neighborhood and that's ok.
