Always Great!!! Breakfast Burritos are fabulous. Definitely need to try it if you like Authentic Mexican food

We stopped by the other day on a whim. We had been here years ago when we first moved to the area. It's still very good. My husband and I both ordered birria tacos. We've never had them before, so I can't make a comparison to other places, but they were so full of flavor. The meat was super tender too. We both got hot salsa, which had a good kick. But was a little lacking in flavor. My disagree ordered a burrito. I'm not entirely sure which one she ordered, but it was tasty. She picked mild salsa.l, it had a better flavor than the hot salsa. The inside is tiny, but there is sitting available. We chose to sit outside since it was a beautiful day. The service was great. The woman that took our order was helpful. We also ordered nachos with cheese. The cheese was an orange cheese sauce, which was unexpected. We still ate them all. The chips were good. read more

We called in an order and picked up in the drive-thru while we were in town for a baseball tournament. I'm unfamiliar with Dayton, but it does seem to be in a little bit of a sketchy neighborhood. That being said, go to Burrito King! It's a diamond in the rough! We ordered a one-pound veggie burrito (hold the cheese and sour cream), carne asada tacos, and a side of rice. I grew up in San Diego and I agree this is the closest I've had to Southern California Mexican food in a long time. I was stuffed, but I ate the whole dang burrito because it was SO SO good. My kiddo is a rice aficionado and he gave it two thumbs up. (I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the tacos were ok, but not great.) With a tip, we got 3 meals for $25. I'm trying to figure out how to get back there again before I leave Dayton! Yum!!!! read more

Food and service are always amazing! The owners and staff are super-friendly! I have been going there for years. They have huge breakfast burritos, and the wet burrito dinner is my favorite! Wide variety of menu choices from Mexican to American foods such as burgers. Love love love this place! Ambiance: Nothing particularly special about Burrito King's decor, its a pretty unremarkable roadside eatery. The staff are pretty outstanding though in terms of making you feel welcome and offering to help you make decisions if needed. There are a ton of regulars that come here both for pick-up and eating in which was reassuring to see. Food: As a San Diegan, I was immediately drawn to the California burrito on their menu. I grew up on these burritos as there are countless 24-hr Mexican spots in San Diego that serve these, making it a popular late night option. That said, Burrito King's rendition was fairly faithful. The flavor of the meat was spot on, the fries were crispy, and there was guacamole that wasn't the made-from-powder junk you sometimes see in the Midwest. The only thing that was off was the ratio of meat of French fries which was skewed towards the potatoes. The size of the burrito was absolutely massive however so they probably could have scaled the fries back and offered a smaller but more balanced burrito. I did also try the hot sauce which was actually pretty good at well albeit lacking a little body and complexity, for the Midwest it was pretty damn authentic though. Overall I was super excited to see a place in Dayton that served SoCal Mexican food and would recommend giving this place a try! TL;DR: Still my favorite breakfast burrito in the area. Food: I've only gotten breakfast burritos here and they've always been great. Cost: About $5 for a breakfast burrito and I'm usually full at the 1-2 bite left mark. Compared to other places in the area, I'd say this is a very good price. Service: Always friendly, never had any issues. Overall: It's in a sketchy looking area and checks all the boxes for a hole in the wall restaurant with great food. Still my favorite breakfast burrito in the area and I'd recommend the breakfast to anyone. I haven't had anything other than the breakfast here so I can't speak to those items. read more

I concur with the reviews that talk about the authenticity and taste of Southern California. Being stationed in San Diego, while the ships were docked, each morning on the way into base or in the shipyard if your ship was in dry dock, you would see food trucks known as the roach coach. The title refers to sailors and workers flocking to the burrito food trucks like, you guessed it, roaches. "Heading to the roach coach! Anybody want anything?" YES! The owners are originally from Mexico/ LA and bring that distinct smoky, hot pepper sauce and cuisine with them to Ohio. Yes, Riverside is a sad section of people living with very little, where cops are ready to pounce on you for driving barely over the speed limit, but Burrito King is the diamond in the rough of this place. Highly recommend the chorizo breakfast burrito-- add extra cheese for a bit more decadence. My husband liked the steak breakfast burrito, and we also enjoyed the combination meat breakfast burrito. I literally drive 45 minutes to eat here because it's sooo good. Reminds me of home in California Don't sleep on the carne asada fries! Salsas are good, but start off slow with the red if you don't have a tolerance for spicy foods. The love that the owners pour into their food shows!! I wish I lived closer so I could eat here more often and support this small, local business because it hits the spot every time! Due to COVID, it was takeout only when we went but the indoor seating area is pretty small anyway so it wasn't a huge inconvenience to us. This place is legit. I lived in southern California for 10+ years, and this place feels like home. I've only tried their california burrito and carne asada fries because I just learned about the place. The beef was tender and well-seasoned, and the burrito had the right amount of ingredients. Lastly, their hot sauce was spot on. Enough kick with no pain during or after the meal (won't get graphic here). I like other places like Victor's tacos or Taqueria Mixteca, but based on my first impression, this place is THE one. read more

Don't hate me for giving this place three stars. It's a good place. I liked their al pastor meat. The rice they serve here was bland. And their fish tacos weren't that good. Or it was more towards the Americanized fish tacos, not Mexican fish tacos. Also, it takes awhile for you to get your food. Lucky for us, we were the first ones in for dinner but it took about 15 mins until we got our food. After that, there were more customers but they waited forever. I would recommend calling your order in ahead of time if they do takeout. One good thing though, is that there's a drive thru for this restaurant. And plenty of parking! Also, the lady working here is super nice! Update: In response to owner's comments. I've spent my whole life in "California to be exact in the county of Los Angeles" where I've had great fish tacos from Ricky's Fish Tacos or The Best Fish Tacos in Ensenada. Or even Rubio's Fish Tacos. A chain restaurant. And they were all better than the fish tacos here. Even the real fish tacos I had on the side streets in the real Ensenada, Mexico were better. The tacos in Los Angeles are so much better too. I can walk into King Taco or El Tarascco or any taco truck like El Chato and have better tacos than Burrito King. We decided to try Burrito King after reading great reviews both on Yelp and on Google. If not for the reviews we might have driven right by- this little place doesn't look like much from the outside, but the food more than makes up for that. I ordered combo #6, with shredded beef enchiladas and a chicken taco. Everything was delicious. My husband had three tacos "Mexican style", which included cilantro and onions. There were other styles of tacos to choose from, as well. We chose hot salsa on the side, which was fresh tasting and had just the right heat level. Our entire lunch cost around $16, and the ladies there were very friendly. We took our food home (seating is extremely limited) to enjoy it. We'll visit again! read more

I live right off of Valley St. but have only eaten here once. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful in deciding what you might like. The burrito was tasty and fresh that I ordered. For the portion size, I thought it was a bit overpriced and was still feeling hungry when finished eating. The parking lot is private and off the road and they also have a drive-thru. I went inside to order since it was my first visit. I want to try more and other offerings on the menu and share reviews on those items as well. read more

Definitely decent...huge burrito. I got the machaca burrito smothered in queso. I ate half and was stuffed. Ingredients seemed to be good quality. Overall very good but it also didn't blow my mind...so it's not necessarily something I will remember or crave in the future, but if you're a fan of burritos then this place is definitely worth checking out. This was a total stab in the dark. Was out in Dayton for business and coming back to the hotel hungry, so I stopped to search yelp for a spot to grab some food. Rather than go through so many restaurants, which is something I do when famished and faced with so many choices, I chose one listed at the top as an ad. Bingo! Correct choice! The Burrito King was aptly named. It was the obvious King of burritos in the Dayton area. It reminded me of the awesome burritos I'd have in Las Vegas. And if you haven't had a Las Vegan burrito made by a wonderful abuela, you are missing out. The basic pork burrito was ginormous and equally tasty! The cheesey fries were equally yummy and smelled amazing... The car was insanely pleasant smelling for hours. I highly recommend this place. It's off the beaten path, but worth the drive. Pros 1. One of the few legit Mexican food restaurants I know of in Dayton. I gave them 5 stars just like taqueria mixteca since it's authentic Mexican as apposed to what you'd get at Abuelo's or something like that. 2. I got the an al pastor burrito and it was good.
