Ceviche

In Ohio for birthday decided to try this place as a different take on steak and seafood. It's located next to a grocery store. The decor inside was bright and festive. It was a Thursday around 7 and there were only a few customers. We ordered the ribeye especial and parrillada. The grilled shrimp in both dishes were delicious. They were large and had a great smoky flavor. We didn't care for the salsa or chips, but everything else was well seasoned and had great flavor. The service was so so. We had to flag our waitress down more than once because she never returned to our table.

Tuna todtada

Amazing seafood, steak, and Mexican. Ordered fish tostadas with fresh seafood. Simply delicious. Nicole took great care of us, very attentive and took time to explain the dishes. I loved the shrimp I had. Seemed very fresh and tasted freshly grilled. My husband had a steak done perfectly and the baked potato and grilled vegetables were outstanding. Delicious churros for dessert. Will definitely be back.

Burrito Guanajuato and Arroz con Camarones

Sonora Grill was such a lovely restaurant. Did not expect a fancy seafood place inside of a latin market! What a fun find! Food was amazing. Pictures is the burrito Guanajuato and the Arroz con Camarones. The burrito should have had chicharrón but because I don't eat pork, they allowed me to switch it with extra shrimp! Most places never offer more of something else, they usually just don't add whatever you want to remove. Our plates had filled us up so much that we were only able to eat 1/3 before having to take a to-go box with us. My burrito was very well made. There was a lot of protein and beans inside of the burrito and the cheese and shrimp on the outside was such a nice touch. My friend said her arroz con camarones was absolutely delicious. I love the whole sea theme along with the nice seatings. Our server was very nice and she was very accommodating to us switching the protein and ordering a to-go order before we leave. The chips and salsa were maybe the best nibbling snack a restaurant has ever given to me! I would love to go back!

Garlic Octopus

I never thought I would be served the best tasting OCTOPUS, in Ohio of all places!! It was absolutely incredible!! 5 stars all the way around!! Awesome drinks as well!

Whole lobster langostine (you have to ask because it's off menu)

The Sonora Seafood and Steak Bar and Grill are exceptional for their service, their food choices, and incredible beverages! I was pleasantly surprised how amazing this bar & grill is with the service that Cindy the server provided and Pedro the chef cooked, unbelievable! make sure you ask for Cindy when you go in! We appreciated the fact that they had such a variety of traditional and coastal style choices, and we sampled several different seafood dishes - all so delicious. If you're looking for authentic, delicious and fresh fare, Sonora is the place to go. They also had live entertainment last evening, which we really enjoyed. The overall ambience of this mexican restaurant was just very up beat and fun, especially since Caro and I were there. Plenty of parking, great family restaurant with food options for kids, amazing service! The restaurant is really clean as well. Unreal!

Mocajete Norteno

The restaurant is attached to a Mexican grocery but mostly separated with good amount of tables and booths. It's not fancy but you're not eating in a food court either. I was there on a Tuesday night and there were probably another 6 dinner groups with both native Spanish and English speakers. Service was efficient and friendly. My Paloma took a bit longer than expected but rim was nicely salted and garnished well with fresh fruit. The food is amazing. I like that there's classic Tex Mex options but the Mexican seafood options really shine. I started with a tostada with Tuna marinated in lime and mayo. Fish was fresh and the lime strong. My main was the Mocajete Norteno. It's a surf and turf kitchen sink with grilled beef, chicken, chorizo, prawns, queso fresco, pinto beans, cactus, onions, radish and jalapeno served in a mortar the size of your head. Portions are huge including drinks. Great value and will please both adventurous eaters and those looking for familiar favorites.

The menu rotates roughly every quarter, and given the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the selection is a bit limited -- handful of vegetarian small plates, a few meat and a few seafood options. For the non-drinkers, they had two non-alcoholic cocktails available, but no NA beer. Beware though, as the NA cocktails were still around $11, which I always find frustrating as they are basically flavored sugar water. We tried the blackhawk beef burger and koji-aged ribeye. The blackhawk burger was a smash burger (thin patties, melted cheese), that tasted delicious. The ribeye was just as expected and cooked as ordered. The star of each of the entrees, however, was the thin cut, crispy fries. Good thing the fries were delicious because the sauces that came with it were quite bland -- would've preferred ketchup. For dessert we tried the bay leaf cheesecake. It was alright, had a subtle smokey flavor that I think threw us off a bit (although that was obviously the point given the bay leaf). Our server Renee was friendly and everything was prompt. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and the food was pretty good. Although, given the limited number of options on the menu, you'll definitely want to look at it ahead of time to make sure there is something that suits your palate.

The moment we stepped in, the modern aesthetic hit perfectly - clean lines, mood lighting, and just enough buzz to feel energetic without drowning out conversation. Our family gathering was greeted immediately by staff who seemed genuinely stoked to have us there. Major points for making a large group feel welcome! The menu is refreshingly concise - none of that overwhelming novel-length situation that makes you second-guess yourself three times. Their drink selection strikes that perfect balance too - enough variety in wines/beers/cocktails to satisfy everyone. They've got some non-alcoholic options as well. We started with the Kimchi Pancake and Brussels Sprouts for the table. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the pancake (kimchi can be hit or miss for me), but this was a revelation. The kimchi flavor was present but not overwhelming - just enough kick that played perfectly with the shiso and wasabi remoulade. And those Brussels? It's packed with flavor and disappeared in approximately 3.5 seconds... Maybe less! For my main course, went with my cousin's recommendation - the Koji Aged Ribeye. When it arrived I initially thought "that's it?" But this steak is deceptive. The thick cut topped with Togarashi Butter was significantly more filling than it looked. Cooked to absolute perfection, and that butter situation on top? A flavor bomb of sweet-spicy-savory that had me contemplating licking the plate - don't worry, I didn't! My taste buds were begging for more even when my stomach waved the white flag. That's when you know it's good. If you're anywhere near downtown Dayton, make Jollity a priority stop. Not sure when I'll be back in Ohio again, but would definitely have this resto on my return list.

My girlfriend opted for the glazed salmon which came with rice and asparagus but she substituted the asparagus with mashed potatoes. I had their Thanksgiving fare which included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans. We ordered the Avocado Deviled Eggs for an appetizer. The Avocado Deviled Eggs were delicious, slightly tart, and had a salsa flavor. We really liked them. My girlfriend really liked her salmon. The portion was a really nice size. My thanksgiving meal was delicious. The turkey was really good, mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, and the green beans were cooked just right. Green beans a lot of times have a tendency to be overcooked where they are a little soggy or undercooked where they are too raw. These were cooked just right. The stuffing was good but a little dry. But I'm not really a stuffing guy. For dessert I had the tiramisu which was in small jar topped with some strawberries! It was also and a great way to end the meal. My girlfriend had the Dark Chocolate Terrine. She said it was dense and rich in chocolate flavor. We did check out the outdoor area after we ate. This would be a really nice place to eat outside in the spring or summer. There was an igloo-style structure you could eat in during colder months. I giving this establishment five stars. We had a 3:30 pm reservation, arrived at 3:00 pm and were immediately seated. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly and the food was really good. It's a trendy restaurant with clean restrooms and this would be an ideal place to eat at with friends and family. It has a casual vibe, not overly classy but still special. Drink options were plentiful and we had a lot of fun! Highly recommended!

The Foundry stays open late (food til 10 pm) so it was a great option. I sat at the bar and had the following: -Bbq short rib (3.5/5; pretty tasty. Short rib was tender and bbq sauce had a nice kick. The rice wasn't cooked properly so it was hard. I wanted to like this dish more...I think the traditional pairing of short rib w mashed potatoes would have been better) -Deviled eggs (3/5; these are mixed w avocado which makes them unique. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking and needed some spice (Dijon, salt, pickles?) I wouldn't get these again -Oaxacan old fashioned (5/5; this old fashioned was made with tequila and mezcal and a flamed orange peel. The smokiness of this drink was super satisfying) Overall, the drink was amazing, service was great and food was alright.

I loved the old school supper club vibes -- low lighting, dark wood interior. Our server left a bit to be desired. She wasn't particularly engaged or helpful, and I had to ask her if I could provide my allergen information when placing our order because she didn't ask. I also had to ask for my horseradish sauce that I ordered when my entree arrived. I ordered my prime rib medium rare and it was more on the rare side, but not so much that I sent it back. There is a ton of food with each entree -- salad, sides, rolls. I loved the dill ranch dressing on the salad and would have taken a bottle of that to go. Server was agreeable about splitting the check a few ways, which was helpful. Overall, I can see the appeal as a Dayton institution, but this wouldn't be my first choice for a dinner out if I'm back in the area.
