Jollity is a very aptly named, up-beat restaurant with small menu, craft entrees and good vibes all…read morearound. The inside is a bit small but cozy with the kitchen in broad view. The menu rotates roughly every quarter, and given the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, the selection is a bit limited -- handful of vegetarian small plates, a few meat and a few seafood options. For the non-drinkers, they had two non-alcoholic cocktails available, but no NA beer. Beware though, as the NA cocktails were still around $11, which I always find frustrating as they are basically flavored sugar water. We tried the blackhawk beef burger and koji-aged ribeye. The blackhawk burger was a smash burger (thin patties, melted cheese), that tasted delicious. The ribeye was just as expected and cooked as ordered. The star of each of the entrees, however, was the thin cut, crispy fries. Good thing the fries were delicious because the sauces that came with it were quite bland -- would've preferred ketchup. For dessert we tried the bay leaf cheesecake. It was alright, had a subtle smokey flavor that I think threw us off a bit (although that was obviously the point given the bay leaf). Our server Renee was friendly and everything was prompt. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and the food was pretty good. Although, given the limited number of options on the menu, you'll definitely want to look at it ahead of time to make sure there is something that suits your palate.

The moment we stepped in, the modern aesthetic hit perfectly - clean lines, mood lighting, and just enough buzz to feel energetic without drowning out conversation. Our family gathering was greeted immediately by staff who seemed genuinely stoked to have us there. Major points for making a large group feel welcome! The menu is refreshingly concise - none of that overwhelming novel-length situation that makes you second-guess yourself three times. Their drink selection strikes that perfect balance too - enough variety in wines/beers/cocktails to satisfy everyone. They've got some non-alcoholic options as well. We started with the Kimchi Pancake and Brussels Sprouts for the table. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical about the pancake (kimchi can be hit or miss for me), but this was a revelation. The kimchi flavor was present but not overwhelming - just enough kick that played perfectly with the shiso and wasabi remoulade. And those Brussels? It's packed with flavor and disappeared in approximately 3.5 seconds... Maybe less! For my main course, went with my cousin's recommendation - the Koji Aged Ribeye. When it arrived I initially thought "that's it?" But this steak is deceptive. The thick cut topped with Togarashi Butter was significantly more filling than it looked. Cooked to absolute perfection, and that butter situation on top? A flavor bomb of sweet-spicy-savory that had me contemplating licking the plate - don't worry, I didn't! My taste buds were begging for more even when my stomach waved the white flag. That's when you know it's good. If you're anywhere near downtown Dayton, make Jollity a priority stop. Not sure when I'll be back in Ohio again, but would definitely have this resto on my return list.

They open at 4:00 pm on weekends and there were people there for some sort of reception but there were open tables too, so it seemed kind of misleading and confusing to me. It seemed like a waste of space for the few people we saw there. My girlfriend ordered the vegan pizza which comes with cashews and mushrooms and you can add vegan cheese which she did instead of real cheese. So it is a genuine vegan pizza. I ordered their 8 ounce forged burger described as "100% Ohio beef patty, Gloucestershire cheese, arugula, heirloom tomato, black garlic aioli, potato roll, side salad." Both meals were very good. They also have a variety of unique and tasty cocktails. The bartenders were very nice and friendly, service was awesome, and there is a nice modern vibe. The only problem I had was I booked a stay at the hotel and it was with the "Foundry Package"which comes with a $50 food credit at the Foundry. The bartenders weren't aware of this package and I had to talk to reception to get this resolved. I do recommend this restaurant but the menu is limited so please review online prior to making reservations. The food is very good and the drinks are superb!

Time warp to the 1960's In a Good Way…read more... Kudos to the lady who owns and Loves Treasure Island. It may have been in the 70's since our last visit, and we shall soon return. Ambience of a 1960's steak house, and great service, and thankfully with a full bar, very quiet. If one has not been in a while, so visit and enjoy. A refreshing relief from the Loud sports bar, and interesting menu and food. Corn Fritter with Maple Syrup is highly recommended and now a favorite of my wife's. Seafood Platter - $29.95 - One deviled crab in the shell, two jumbo fried shrimp, two frog legs, three fried scallops and one piece of cod is listed as today's catch, but seems to be frozen, and can only be fried; we passed of this dish. Ribeye is Not among the Best in Dayton, but is acceptable - we prefer a much thicker Ribeye. An excellent surprise is the Center Cut Pork Chops (2) $34.95. My wife feasted on this, and took second chop home -- very good choice. Choices - yes and abundance of "something" that looked interesting, and this is reason for our return. The setting in lots of concrete and amongst factories is not inviting, but park the car and explore. First level is dark, and we like this. Maneuver through the quiet, filled bar to the very small dining area, and view the menu. There is a sandwich/salad portion to the menu, but this held no interest to us. Perhaps, if one is up to a bit of adventure, be prepared to appreciate the 1960's all over again....

Wonderful ambiance, soundproofing, and you can talk to each other. They had a great menu, and it was difficult to decide what to eat. They left the breading on the chicken, so they sautéed it with the breading; in fact, I would say they breaded it to be deep-fried and then sautéed it. I didn't want any breading; I just wanted it sautéed. It could have used much more onion and much less salt. You can always salt your food, but you can't unsalt something. Everyone else enjoyed their food. I will definitely give this another try, especially if they can lure me back in with a promise of true sautéed.
