A local friend took me to this restaurant and was worth the visit. The service was quick and friendly in greeting and serving us. With a large menu, these was no problem making a selection. The beer was cold and the location had the feeling of Mexico with its decor. I recommend and would return in the future. Enjoy! read more

We had a pleasant dining experience. I was hoping to find a combination platter but decided to get a burrito; Jenni got cochinita pibil which was pork with rice and beans. She said it was great. My burrito was very good. As usually happens, I saw other food brought out of the kitchen and if we go back, I'll definitely get the King Burritto which looked amazing. The chips and salsa were just okay however Juan, our server, was great and was attentive without being overwhelming. Our drinks were great and it was awesome to take advantage of a $7 off a second entree check-in coupon. read more

Went to El Rancho Grande on 21 November 2025. They brought the food out and it was full of gnats. So gross.

I have been coming for years. Price HIKES are ridiculous! I had a "chicken" burrito and it was filled with MOSTLY RICE! Overpriced gouging. Never going back. This place is a rip off read more

This lunch was very quick! Our server was very efficient and I used the Yelp check in $7 off offer. Portions were big and prices were fair. I ordered the chicken fajitas with fresh jalapeño mixed in. The speed in which it was served made me wonder whether it was all prepped in kitchen and served on extremely hot cast iron to provide the sizzle sound ... I still ate it all though. The accompanying toppings were standard Mexican restaurant fare. Our daughter ordered her whatever without zucchini and it arrived as ordered. We enjoyed our out of town meal. read more

Nice atmosphere they remodeled it inside friendly staff love the cowboy hats! Food was decent some was a bit pricey for my taste. I would definitely go back for the lunch menu it was more affordable. read more

Chips and salsa were provided as a complementary appetizer as we decided what to eat. The chips were good but the salsa did not have much taste to it. I ordered the Enchiladas Verdes and the food came out very quick, however, to my surprise or not to my surprise, it was also very bland. The initial encounter with the server was good and they were attentive but they unfortunately disappeared when we were ready to pay the bill so we sat there for almost half an hour trying to leave. read more

A very solid Mexican restaurant. We were seated quickly on a busy Saturday night. Service was quick and friendly. They had a special on chicken fajitas which were very tasty. We loved the atmosphere of the restaurant, it had the feeling of being in Mexico, very festive. We would definitely come back here if we were in the area again. read more

Won't go back to this one. Way overpriced for what really isn't authentic to begin with. Salsa was good. Service was okay, nothing shocking. This and Cancun both are very low mid. You can do better. The real places either charge for chips, or sell tortas, go find em. read more

Service was quick for lunch but it wasn't that great of a meal. I stopped coming here a few years ago because the employees used to smoke in the parking lot and in front of the entry. I didn't feel like walking passed them. I figure I would give it another try. The employees probably were long gone and maybe even the manager that ignored it when I brought it up. With that said, it's mediocre food OR overpriced. I could deal with cheaper mediocre food but I feel like there are better options at this price point. Service was good. read more

Went with friends on a Sat night and got seated within minutes. All tried different margaritas, (jalapeno for me), all a big #yum, and all our food was tasty. Plenty of chips, salsa and queso. Friends had the shrimp fajitas and cheese enchilada, and I had the cheesesteak burrito, which was very good. Service was fast and friendly. #ReviewsByRL read more

The food and drinks are always excellent. Will start by saying our server was a young girl who seemed new. I am a recovering addict who doesn't drink alcohol so I ordered a virgin drink. My drink was served alcoholic and had to be returned and that is a huge trigger for some people in my situation. Also my drink looked nothing like the picture on the menu. Was told our drinks were happy hour prices and was charged full price. We ordered a grilled cheese and fries kids meals but she didn't understand us and brought shredded chicken and rice. A lot of this came down to how she was trained. The first time we came we had an experienced server and had an amazing time. Food was great, service not so much. The biggest takeaway is please don't serve alcohol to someone who asks for a virgin drink. read more

Mediocre Mexican food, of course no one says: "Let's go to Ohio for Mexican food" Both the entree and the salsa had so little salt it must have been allergic to such seasonings. Overall it left the food rather bland. The chorizo in the burrito helped, but didn't elevate it above mediocre. Refried beans, onions, and pulled pork in the burrito was good. The pork was super tender, but yet again, flavorless. No cilantro or herbs in the salsa, tastes like tomato sauce and onions mixed together. The Modelo was good! Whole place needs a cleaning. There is a light sconce full of dead bugs. Wish I had seen that before I ordered. Server was super nice and friendly tho! Top marks! Thanks Miguel! read more

We were out of town for a bowling tournament. A group of 5 of us looked for dinner that evening and all the popular restaurants had 1-2 hour waits and we were hungry now. Husband found El Rancho Grande online and was almost right next to our hotel. He called and they told us to come on over. No wait!!! Sat right down and was greeted right away. Of course I ordered a Margarita which was very good. Definitely was not lacking any tequila. Chips and Salsa is always nice to munch on while you wait. I chose the Cheese enchiladas and my hubby chose the chicken fajitas. We were so hungry I didn't want to bother my friends with taking pictures of their food. Lol.. My enchiladas were good.. the sauce was a little salty but didn't stop me from eating almost all of it. Hubby said his fajitas had a good flavor to them and was given a nice portion. I think we all were given nice proportions for the price. Definitely get your moneys worth and we even took some leftovers home with us. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food and had no complaints. All in all good experience. read more

Food was over priced and not good. Ordered the burrito, enchilada, Tamale combo. Burrito and enchiladas were exact same thing, ground beef wrapped in tortilla. Tamale was dry and inedible. Ordered cheese dip and chips. Cheese dip was watered down. Chips were old and stale and came in a bag about the size of a ziplock sandwich bag. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! read more

There were not many good reviews, but I tried it anyways and oh my goodness! The salsa was thick not runny and had such a great flavor. The house margarita was not overpowering with tequila. What I expect at a Mexican restaurant is good Mexican or Tex-Mex food. I did not find it here. I ordered Chillies Rellanos and got the second-worst that I ever experienced. They were soggy, hugely cheese laden with no evidence of chilis. Thankfully there was some decent hot-sauce on the table. I was hungry and managed to scarf down about 1/2 my order. After that, it wasn't worth the effort. I can't drink beer so I ordered wine. The only wines available were sweet and white. The server did pretty well, but he didn't have much support from the kitchen or the bar. read more

Visited this restaurant twice, and its a cool place. Cant say that anything about it is overly spectacular or terrible, its your typical Mexican food restaurant. The service was good and attentive, and the portions were larger than I expected. Like most Mexican places, you get chips and salsa, and the salsa here is good. So yeah, not much to say about this place...except for one thing. The tv. The. TV. Is. mounted. crooked. on. the. wall. Call me crazy...or ocd. But, this drove me crazy. There are two tvs behind the bar. The tv on the left is the crooked one. What makes it even more egregious, is that the right tv is perfect! Like...how did you get the right one right, but the left one so wrong?? How has no one noticed and corrected this?? I tried to ignore it...but I couldnt. I even found myself slightly tilting my head to match the slope. To be clear, the tv had nothing to do with the rating...but I had to talk about it. read more

Great service from our waiter, Nacho. The food was also good and Birria was delicious.

Party of five with 2 children. I ordered soup. Just soup. Very simple and easy. Everyone was almost finished with their meal. When my soup arrived. I had told three servers to no avail. Hardly anyone there and the speed of food coming out was terrible. Salsa and chips great! But we fed on too much waiting and waiting and waiting. Their Karma of free food. El Toro salad had great steak, chicken and shrimp but they forgot that iceberg lettuce is freakin cheap and I recommend not to use the same shredded stuff but more salad friendly cuts. That would have made my skimpy $12 salad look worthy. Chicken fajitas were a bit skimpy but cooked great. Most places bigger but over cook the onions and peppers. Side toppings a bit smaller too. Even had to stand at the empty cash register way too damn long to get out. Daughter with soccer jersey and we pushed for her meal to come sooner and all this delay should be headed by better mgmt and not relied on sweet beautiful waitress. Shame -Speed doesn't kill all the time. Only in cars and traffic. Take my words and others. Our guest said We should have gone 8 more minutes to El Rancho Grande... I agreed! read more

This chain has been around for 20-plus years and little has changed except the prices. With a Mexican restaurant on nearly every corner, there is little to differentiate them and it's often the little things that make a difference. The chips here are always warm and the salsa is thick and tastes of fresh cilantro. It is so good. I could literally eat it with a spoon right from the bowl. I usually order the Cheese Steak Burrito. The steak is well seasoned and tender and I love the cheese sauce they use that smothers the burrito. It's a big burrito and fills you up. I've tried many of the other Mexican restaurants in town but I keep coming back to El Rancho Grande. read more

I was surprised this place didn't get better ratings from people. I was staying nearby and was craving Mexican on my last night in town. El Rancho Grande didn't have spectacular ratings, but I decided to check it out anyway. Upon walking in I was greeted by a friendly hostess. Because I was flying solo I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender couldn't have been nicer. He immediately got me a menu and drink and also offered some suggestions from the menu. I don't recall the name of what I got, but it came in a hot stone serving bowl and was delicious. I was disappointed in myself as I was stuffed and couldn't finish all of it. The bartender continued to be great- constantly checking in and refilling my water. I would certainly go back. read more

I ordered the Carnitas. It was over cooked/dried out. "Beans or rice?" Not both? What up with that? Guacamole was good. Chips tasted like old oil. Salsa tasted like it was out of a jar. Tortillas were gummy. Staff was good. read more

For 30 years we have been eating at and recommending El Rancho Grande in Fairborn. We ate dinner there about 5 o'clock and our dinner was lousy. When the hostess sat us down there were about 6 tables being used in the 3000 sq ft dining room, then she sets people down on both sides of our booth, so we have to listen to them during the whole dinner. And the music is blaring hard core country music like we're in Texas. Later they changed it to Taylor Swift for 3 or 4 songs. That's not what I expect when I go to a Mexican restaurant, who is choosing the music? The hostesses or the waitresses? I usually enjoy the chips and salsa, but the chips were barely cooked, and the salsa tasted exactly like a watered-down Ragu spaghetti sauce with an herb thrown in. I always order the same thing, two enchiladas with beans and rice and I've always eaten all of it. Not today. I didn't even eat a whole enchilada. When we paid our $36 bill there was the manager wrapping up silverware and joking with the hostesses. I went straight to Burger King and got a Whopper. I was hungry. I really don't remember when I have had such a bad time. I messaged El Rancho Grande, but they only responded with 5 stupid emails asking me to recommend them. But I can't email them back. El Toro is looking really good from now on. read more

Despite the sad reviews...we decided to try this place anyway. I'm sooo glad we did, because it was really good. We both had the top shelf margarita and it was delicious. I don't like margaritas that are strong with the taste of tequila which makes no sense, but true. Lol The Grand Marnier in the top shelf margarita cuts the tequila flavor and makes it tolerable. The food comes quickly and very hot. We both had the Fajitas Texanas which is a chicken, shrimp and steak combo. It is very flavorful and the shrimp were tender, not dried out. I didn't give them a 5 star, because we were here 3 times and the 2nd time we were there the service was extremely slow. That said, we were there on a very busy night, sweetest day, and service was fast. Give it a chance and you won't be disappointed. read more

Pretty good. I did fill up on chips and my dinner was warm... hot enough to burn my tongue...

In Texas some of us have certain standards by which we judge Mexican food. Many years ago one of the stages of Texas journalism stated something like, "if you stick your thumb in the Mexican food and get it back without a blister, it not good Mexican food." A bit of an exaggeration perhaps but the kernel of truth is it had to be severed hot, and not just the plate. El Rancho Grande certainly passed that test! Pulse my ground beef enchiladas were great. The crumbled cheese, some type of "Mexican cheese" I was told, really complemented them Recommended. read more

I like this place. The food isn't world class or anything, but it's a notch above the chains that are everywhere (Don Pablo's etc) AND it is locally owned and operated, which is important. Salsa has a decent flavor, but I wanted it hotter...like most Mexican places they were happy to fix this with a hotter variety. You just have to ask. If forced to go the the mall at Fairfield Commons I'd much rather eat here on the way than any of the corporate glop near the mall. read more
