The food was absolutely fantastic, but the service completely overshadowed the experience. From the moment we walked in, everything felt incredibly rushed. We had barely made it to our table before employees were yelling, "¡Vámonos! ¡Vámonos!" Then, before we even had a chance to sit down, our waiter was already asking what we wanted to drink. When my mother-in-law mentioned that the unsweetened tea didn't really taste like tea, instead of trying to help or understand, he responded with an attitude and said, "The one I gave you is unsweetened tea. It's not water." It came across as very dismissive. He then rushed us to place our food orders. My husband only likes mozzarella cheese, and we've been to Mexican restaurants that use mozzarella on certain dishes. When we asked what kind of cheese came on the tacos, the waiter quickly replied, "Shredded cheese," with no explanation, then immediately pointed at me and said, "Next," before my husband could even finish asking his question. I looked at him and asked specifically if it was mozzarella because that's the only cheese my husband likes. He said yes, but when the food arrived, it clearly wasn't mozzarella. When we politely asked if the dish could be made without cheese instead, he got defensive and said, "I told you it was shredded cheese." We reminded him that he had told us it was mozzarella, and he walked away upset. To make matters worse, my dad arrived a few minutes late, had just sat down, and before he even had time to look at the menu, the waiter asked for his order and sarcastically said, "Any day now." Throughout the rest of the meal, our drinks and chips were never refilled unless we specifically asked. We actually had to ask two different servers to refill both because our waiter wasn't checking on our table. The food truly deserves five stars, but the service was some of the worst I've ever experienced. It made what should have been a great meal feel stressful and unwelcoming. read more

I love it here, The food is consistently good. I had the con carne deluxe and some of the best around. The staff is always very friendly.

Attentive and hospitable staff, delicious food made well, ambience felt comfortable. Lunch specials are a treat - flavorful and seasoned well, and gave a great portion at an affordable price (like $10 for the burrito I had gotten for lunch hours). Went here because my dad and Stepmom enjoy it. There was 5 of us dinning. Will start with the food. It was actually quite good. Had the Mexican flavors I enjoy. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Would defiantly eat here again while in Xenia. The service though is the reason for only a 4-star rating. Not sure if shorthanded or just not enough servers. restaurant wasn't that full but yet we always were looking for our server. I noticed a few other tables looking also. After we had finished, we asked for a few to go boxes for our leftovers and finally ended up getting our own from a stand I saw. They did however bring the bill right after we asked for boxes. The issue though when I went to the counter to pay, I couldn't find anyone to check us out. As for the restaurant itself it was pretty clean. Wasn't too loud and we were able to talk and enjoy family time together. Again, I would go back for the food. I will just be more prepared next time to know the service isn't quite up to par. read more

We originally went to Xenia from Fairborn for another food option, but things did not work out. We did a take out, even tho they offered sit in today. I am giving it a one star.. because any place that serves moldie food clearly does not care about the customers. When we got home, my husband discovered this moldie flan. When he called the restaurant they said they "just made" more flan (and anyone who knows flan knows it is a several hour process... not a quick make). My husband could hear them talking in the background in spanish telling the worker they have to check the food before sending it out (they were not aware apparently my husband speaks Spanish). Highly not recommend this place for sanitation. I am praying we dont get sick from the food (We didnt discover this flan till after meal). read more

This review will be short for the time being, but I wanted to leave it ASAP because I see so many one star reviews for this place, even from yelp elites. I had an amazing experience here. I speak a tiny bit of Spanish, and the staff was super happy about chatting with me in Spanish even if mine was broken. They were immensely friendly, and even served me a very very inexpensive top-shelf tequila while I waited for my take out order of street tacos. And let me tell you these Al Pastor tacos are some of the best I've had anywhere including AZ. TX, CA, NY, and DC. They only have indoor seating, so if you're concerned to catch Covid, just get to go. If you're confused by the rest of the menu, just get the street tacos. It was a busy Saturday night... this place was jumping! That meant our server, while polite, was rarely seen (hence the three stars). The food was worthy of four stars... all was delicious (especially the mole), but my dad's burrito had a processed-tasting cheese sauce. It was sort of metallic and unpleasant. My husband ordered his usual: steak with peppers and onions. He said it was the best he's had in years! Big props for the decor - it is colorful and fun. Will we be back? Not sure. We were visiting from Pittsburgh always like to try local Mexican Restaurants. Acapulco was close enough for us to walk to, so we gave it a try. GREAT CHOICE! As soon as we walked in the door, the smells were wonderful! I had a huge margarita, and they didn't forget the tequila! We had Churoqueso for an app. Delicious! My friends had a chimichanga and a burrito, and I had a seafood dish who's name I don't recall, but was absolutely marvelous. My friends raved about their choices as well. Portions were huge. Service was extremely quick and friendly. If I lived closer I'd go there once a month. So if you're ever near Xenia OH, you owe it to yourself to check it out. You'll be glad you did! read more

If this were the only Mexican restaurant in the area, then it wouldn't be a bad choice. However, we're a bit "spoiled" here in the Springfield/Dayton area when it comes to Mexican-style restaurants, and this was not nearly as good as some other local choices. Not awful, but not nearly as good as others... We arrived at about 6:30 on a Thursday evening, and there were a few other occupied tables, including a party of about eight people, but it didn't feel crazy busy. We were seated at a long table right behind the barrier separating the LH side dining area from the entrance, so we shouldn't have been too hard to miss, but two or three different servers and the hostess all walked by us two or three times before deciding to take our drink orders or bring over chips and salsa. They sort of looked us right in the eye ("I know you're there, amigo...") but kept on going, which I could understand IF they had been busier, but since we were seated right near the entrance, we could sort of see/hear that at least part of the time, they were just hanging out... (Sorry, I'm also blessed/cursed to be fluent in Spanish, and can understand BS in several different languages...) The wait wasn't too bad (chips were fine and salsa was good and WARM/HOT!!) and when our orders were taken, the drinks and food came out quickly, SURPRISINGLY fast, like we had called in ahead. Mr. M&P ordered flautas, which arrived semi BURNT around the edges (from reheating?) and my alambre, which was a mix of chicken, chorizo, cheese and pineapple, and not bad at all, but needed a bit of that well-seasoned salsa to give it more zip. All in all, not bad, but not really up to par with some of the other Mexican choices in the area. Go for it if you're in the area, but not really worth a special trip. read more

In a word, Outstanding! Salsa was fresh and had a nice zing to it. I mean, it really had some heat, but didn't scorch. Got a margarita Acapulco made with 1800 and Grand Marnier. Tasty. We're pretty picky with Mexican. We do really love the really authentic stuff, let's call it "Taqueria Mexican", with the rice and meat burritos in foil, pozole, tacos of just meat, onions and cilantro, menudo, sopes, tortas, and corn husk wrapped tamales. This is where little nieghborhood taco trucks, Taqueria Mixteca in Dayton, and Senor Piquin in Sprigfield fall. We also like tons of melted cheese and sauces on the enchiladas, burritos and tamales too sometimes like you find in more "Gringo Mexican" places with fruity frozen margaritas and non-authentic fajitas and chimichangas. But there exists a magical middle ground... that sliver where the two overlap... We'll call it "Cantina Mexican" - the best of both worlds. A place that pleases everyone. Authentic enough for the Foodies, and familiar enough to satisfy everyone. This is one of those places. It's a culinary unicorn. Mythical and magically tasty. (Our usual/favorite unicorn is Las Margaritas on Airway, so we tend to compare all to them.) We've been to Acapulco couple times now, and I can say without a doubt: 1: The Guacamole Mexicano is a huge bowl of FRESH guac made when you order and the flavor is amazing. If you have given up liking guac, try this stuff it might change your life and make you a guacficianado. It also comes in a bowl big enough for the table to share, it's hella impressive and tasty. 2: The carnitas (one of my tests for a Mexican places) were THE BEST I've ever had. Eye rolling good. Amazingly juicy and tender perfection that didn't even need chewed. I suggest getting the Carnitas Verde... Lucious pork swimming in pork's perfect life partner sauce, Verde. Seriously, the best I've had. Even my husband said so. And he kids me for always ordering carnitas. I'm already planning my lunch tomorrow with the leftovers. The rest: Hub got the seafood enchiladas and chili poblano. He said the sauce wasnt his favorite, but it was still good. Same with the tamales we got. Good, very good even, but I've had better, but second place is still saying something! Dad's favorite thing on Earth I think is the mammoth Burrito California. Roughly the size of a man's head, it's filled with chicken, beef, shrimp, onions and rice, topped with cheese sauce, chorizo and grilled pineapple. (I can't find my pic of it) If they lived closer I think he'd have it everyday. So all in all a spectacular quality unicorn of Mexican delights. Definitely one of the best in the region. From all of their delicious food, to the atmosphere, the cleanliness, and even the presentation - ABSOLUTELY THE BEST RESTAURANT IN GREENE COUNTY! I don't normally give restaurants a bad review, but when they are not up to my standards, I can't keep quiet. This place is disgusting, dirty and just plain unpleasant. It's very cluttered and doesn't even seem clean. I'm surprised that they are still in business. As far as the food, I don't see why people of Xenia even go here. You can get a better Mexican meal from Taco Bell. It was as if they just threw a frozen meal into the microwave, slapped it on the plate and served it up. The service was slow but I really just couldn't get over the fact that the place was so dirty. I won't be recommending this place to anyone in the near future and I won't be going back. We love to eat here and take-out is just as high quality. My personal favorite is the Quesadilla Grande with chunks of pineapple, chorizo, & grilled chicken. The homemade guacamole is yummy as is the salsa, though some days it is hotter than others. Fun atmosphere. read more

We decided to stop by on July 1st for some chips and salsa, drinks, and we even decided to buy a meal to share so we wouldn't be just mooching off the "complimentary" chips and salsa. We got a few drinks one of which was a double shot of vodka but that tasted horrible and like tequila. After ordering the drinks and food the waiter came out with the chips and salsa and said he would have to charge us for them because we only ordered one meal. Not only did he make us pay for the chips and salsa, he brought out 4 baskets, we didn't ask for 4. Not only that but the chips were bland and the food was mediocre.
